50 hours into the game since release, include some reloading and wasting time in character creation (my current PT save is at 40 hours). That's over 4.5 days...pure insanity.

I know most spec Gale as an Evoker, but if you spec him as a Diviner, he gets a great ability called Portent. With high rolls, you can turn misses into hits, failed saves into successes... With low rolls, you do the opposite to your enemies. As you might imagine, it can be really, really helpful in Boss battles. Diviners are sneaky powerful in 5E. They can really sway the outcomes of both combat and non-combat encounters if played correctly. In BG3, because you can see the Portent Rolls when you mouseover Gale's portrait, you could, in theory (not that I've done this! ), save-scum your long rests until you got the rolls where you want them to be. Eg. At least one really low roll so that the next boss would be guaranteed to fail against one your Save or Suck spells. In theory.

For me GOG Galaxy says I spent 55 hours on the game. But let me say I spent 15 hours on the EA, 20 hours in the full release so far, and 3 hours total in the character creator.

Here's my Half Drow Bard with the fancy dlc dyes. I'm enjoying the game so far, still having a few issues with some cutscene dialogues but usually reloading fixes it. I'm also surprised how much I prefer the controller over the keyboard. I really just like how uncluttered the screen is when out in the world.

Here's my Order of Vengeance Paladin redone. He is not going to be evil he's just going to be harsh on his enemies and enemies of the light. Now I'm gonna need some tips on how to roleplay this type of Paladin, and how would he handle say the goblin camp. Would he talk his way in? Or would he fight them? Since goblins are evil.

"Thou should mend your ways. Thou can begin by allowing me in without a fight. No? Thou should die."
On a serious note - being righteous and vengeful doesn't mean being stupid. If your Paladin sees the sheer number of goblins, he would know he can't beat them yet. But he shouldn't be tricking them either. So he would look for the stealthy approach.

I keep hitting screencap a fraction of a second too late to get good shots, but here's my Dwarf Cleric! The reason she looks worried is that someone asked her to be stealthy. The one thing she's not good at, oh no! (Spoilers: she failed the roll and a *spoiler redacted* tried to kill us all.)

It's a bit weird. I wasn't planning on using the respeccing option originally, but I must have used it like 3-4 times already. And now I'm thinking of going back to Lore Bard over Valor (keeping the 1 level dip into Cleric).
edit: You would think Metacritic score would go down over time, it's actually went up 1 point today. 97 now with 13 reviews (which is the highest score ever for a PC game, a single other game share it with BG3: Disco Elysium and Disco only has 11 reviews).

I'm playing a Vengeance Pally as well, and I'd be happy to offer some advice... if I wasn't the worst Paladin out there.
(I'm genuinely impressed with what I've been able to get away with.) (Do NOT take moral advice from me!)

I can't say as I'm complaining about the... moral pliability available to me. Though an eyebrow did creep upward when Larian was first talking about the conditions that might break the Vengeance Oath.
Every once in a while, I can't help but stop and reflect upon how best to sum up this character in a word.
And I'm struggling to come up with something... laudable.
(It's early though and I may just need to workshop this a bit. )

Also playing an Oath of Vengeance Paladin One thing I like about this game is how often there are class-specific dialogue options for Paladin (hoping other classes get frequent options too). I also remember at least one instance of an "Oath of Vengeance" specific dialogue option so far.

I also remember at least one instance of an "Oath of Vengeance" specific dialogue option so far. They do! Lots of Cleric choices, and I've found a few Bard and Druid ones when I've had Wyll or Halsin handle the dialogue for the party. (Wyll is still a Warlock; I just multiclassed him into Swords Bard so somebody in this crew would be able to reliably open locks.)
A lot of the Cleric options are also subclass specific, although I suspect that most of them are sorted into categories according to deity alignment. All the 'Cleric of Moradin' options I've seen have been to do Lawful Good things and I assume that a Cleric of Talos - for example - would have different ones.

I also remember at least one instance of an "Oath of Vengeance" specific dialogue option so far. For a bard, some of the options are about your knowledge of culture, and sometimes it’s just about being a bit of a jerk. One nice touch is that if you start performing (properly, not just giving inspiration) near another bard, they’ll play along with whatever instrument they have. Also, big props to whoever made the tool tips and wrote the descriptions. It’s great that you can quickly delve down more than the basic description. So an item gives you an ability, then you can check what that ability does and where it applies, all the way down to basic mechanics like advantage or armour class. Virtually never bought an item or leaned a spell or skill that didn’t do what aI thought it would. Which for a D&D game with so many spells and abilities is quite impressive. It could have easily been completely impenetrable to people not wanting to play with a wiki open.

saandrig and Hrungr Thank you both for the tips if you have anymore tips and advice on specific areas of act 1 post them in the spoiler section. You are playing Vengeance Pally, their PHB description is basically " let people die in the burning house to run after the arsonist and slice his head off while he beg for mercy". So they are kind of like Arthas in Warcraft III. In order to stop a village from turning into the undead he destroyed the village lol. Reminds me of that South Park episode where in order to prevent people at a party from committing mass suicide the FBI chose to kill them.

Not quite exactly, Vengeance Pally focus on the greater evil over lesser evil and to not show mercy to their enemies. They are still supposed to help the victims unless it gets in the way of pursuing their enemy.

azarhal Thank you for the clarification I now have a better idea. Also I've seen it mentioned before but what does PHB mean? The Players hand book. In this case the one for d&d 5th edition which Larian adapted. Each of the oaths in the phb have a list of tenets they follow which presumably larian has based their oath breaking decisions on, though i haven't played a paladin in bg3 myself. Eg Tenets of VengeanceThe tenets of the Oath of Vengeance vary by paladin, but all the tenets revolve around punishing wrongdoers by any means necessary. Paladins who uphold these tenets are willing to sacrifice even their own righteousness to mete out justice upon those who do evil, so the paladins are often neutral or lawful neutral in alignment. The core principles of the tenets are brutally simple. Fight the Greater Evil.Faced with a choice of fighting my sworn foes or combating a lesser evil, I choose the greater evil. No Mercy for the Wicked.Ordinary foes might win my mercy, but my sworn enemies do not. By Any Means Necessary. My qualms can't get in the way of exterminating my foes. Restitution. If my foes wreak ruin on the world, it is because I failed to stop them. I must help those harmed by their misdeeds.

Absafraginlootly Okay so he does have a brain. I thought an Order of Vengeance Paladin was a fancy way of saying Blackguard. If he was to be played as a blackguard I would have had to pass on him.

AMD users can use the Adrenalin overlay. Isn't there an Nvidia equivalent? Shadowplay - but for some absurd reason it has randomly started changing the file type it captures screenshots as from .png to .jxr....and then you have to manually convert it to be able to upload to a filing sharing site." "Random." Honestly, a lot of what goes on in software would make more sense if it really was just the code mutating on its own, rather than human programmers screwing things up.

Ok - poor choice of words. I just don't know when or why the change was made. Hell - maybe it was something I did. Does changing from SDR to HDR make Shadowplay change file types? Seems like the sort of thing I could google.
