ONE DAY LEFT GIT HOYPED
been watching some campaign videos from YouTubers who were given early access. Still can't decide at all on my first campaign. The two High Elf factions are fairly unlikely to be my first one, but other than that I have a seriously hard time making up my mind between the rest.

I may turn my eyes onto TW Warhammer 2 once they add some blood and gore (via DLC once more *sigh* ). Game looks too "safe" without blood on it.
Goddamn, every single TW youtuber is busting through all 4 factions at once again. Heir, Lionhearth, Indy, even Apollo and he doesn't even like WH, lol. Can't they just do one faction at a time?

I obviously don't have whatever numbers they have internally to determine this, but I remember reading something about them doing the gore as a separate paid DLC was so that they'd be able to sell the base game with a Teen rating for supposedly higher/easier sales than if it was Mature from the get go. The blood DLC's have been quite cheap for the past few Total Wars too, so I'm not terribly bothered. Usually out quickly too, so you don't have to play a sanitized Warhammer for long

CA has money now, they're not a super small studio anymore, they don't need to do that shady-clever type of business for possible more money. I mean, imagine if every company would do the same "here's your Call of Duty: Awesome Warfare without blood, pay 5 bucks to get them splatters" like, what? come on... And they surely have the blood textures and everything already implemented, they just strip them out of the game the last minute and then re-sell it. I really can't remember, but they started with this crap with Attila, right? I don't remember Shogun 2 having a blood DLC at least, and I think Rome II didn't have it either. I suppose this was one of the reasons why Darren ended up quitting CA.

Yeah it sucks, but from what I hear if you purchased the Blood and Gore DLC for Warhammer 1 then you should be able to download it for free in Warhammer 2.

Well, I suppose that makes sense, WH II is based on the same engine and textures anyways, they didn't have to redo the blood. Maybe they added some new features in that department though. Still, no good for me anyways, I don't have the first game.

October 26th CA will be releasing their Mortal Empires combined map of both Warhammer titles as a free update. It will include all the races and legendary lords from game one (including it's DLC) for use in multiplayer battles, as well as offering a sandbox campaign for players who wish to conquer both the old and new worlds. I will most likely be going with a co-op campaign as Durthu of the Wood Elves when this comes out. I'm miss my murder trees

I'm a bit worried it'll have some bugs and general wonkiness at release due to the sheer size of it. Still, gonna be fun to do stuff like marching an army of dinosaurs over to conquer the dwarven Karaks in the badlands, or having a three-way elven civil war across all continents between High, Dark and Wood elves.

I bought TW Warhammer II because I like what I see on Twitch. I know about the combined map but I don't have #1. Not going to get it, hope there's a sale this festive season.

Just so you know, you won't have access to the combined Mortal Empires campaign map unless you also own at least the base game of Warhammer 1.

The combined map, etc, I can also wait for a sale. I see myself playing the combined map game plus plus plus maybe, two years later? I'm impressed with #2 (watched game play on Twitch, also at the streamer's hilarious moments) which is why I bought it at its present price.

I still don't quite understand, but that combined map wont reflect the actual size of the 2 maps. As in, those are "adjusted" maps, smaller in size and thus not all settlements will be present, so they can make both fit together. Kind of a bummer, but I guess it's a necessary evil.

Been playing a co-op campaign on Mortal Empires as Durthu alongside Belaghar Ironhammer. Kind of 'vanilla' granted, but it's fun to see all the territory we've both conquered, all the battles we've fought, only account for a tiny little strip of land when compared to the rest of the map.
I just helped my buddy retake Karak Eight Peaks, after I sent Durthu to hunt down and kill Skarsnik's main army, and now we are going about solidifying his hold of the province before we head back towards Athel Loren. Once we get back to the west coast of the Old World I fully intend to convince my dwarf ally to accompany me across the sea to Ulthuan so I can grow take over the High Elf homeland and plant new forests.
All in all the end turn times aren't that bad, though as we uncover more of the map it might slow down a bit I'm sure.

I'm waiting for Norsca and all the updates that the Norsca update brought with it to WH1 to get brought into Mortal Empires before I start a ME campaign myself. I think the entire Norsca faction and the balance and skill changes to other factions it came with were still too recent for them to get them properly inserted into Mortal Empires at release? How do the Wood Elves work now in Mortal Empires with the new ability to occupy any settlement regardless of race? Can they make proper settlements anywhere like the other factions, or do they still have the original system of only having proper settlements in Athel Loren and able to make those outposts elsewhere with limited building options?

Yeah I am eagerly awaiting the Norsca update/patch to make it to Mortal Empires as well; hopefully it will bring over some bug and quality of life fixes as well. And yes, the team working on the Mortal Empires content was already well into production when the Norsca DLC dropped so they would have had to either postpone ME's release, or patch in the new content later. All in all, the Wood Elves still play the same that they did in WH 1, with only outposts for occupied provinces outside of Athel Loren, but they have been tweaked slightly. All four main provinces in their starting location of Athel Loren are 12 slot provincial capitals now, with several new buildings to construct. The requirement for upgrading the Oak of Ages has also been increased to 100 Amber for the tier 5 upgrade, which forces them to expand out more in the long run. And I'm not quite sure, but I believe that there is a special building option over in Ulthuan should you capture it.

For anyone who doesn't have Warhammer 1 yet but who'd be interested in getting it, there's a pretty decent sale going on here right now until the 5th: uk.gamesplanet.com/game/total-war-warhammer-steam-key--2794-1-50% off the base game, -33% on all DLC except for Norsca which is -10%, and the blood pack which is still normal priced.

So, assuming no one heard about it, CA posted a blog update about the historical content a few day back. TL;DR. PR speech with some information here and there leading towards: *One new DLC Charlemagne sized coming for Attila apparently. Related to the Viking invasions. They showed a blurry "hint" image that fits with Ireland, plus they mentioned a "crow" which is related to Odin. *Another DLC for an "older" title. My guess, Rome II. They also mentioned a pretty big free update for such "older" game, which makes sense to be Rome II to flesh out some of the stuff they promised and never ended up in the game when it was released. *Very far on the line, the new Historical title, no useful info whatsoever. Chances of something about China or Renaissance are high though. If you're a Warhammer fan, bear in mind they said the next piece of content will be one of the DLCs I mentioned above, so WH content after they re-implement Norsca in TW:WHII will come after.
