So, assuming no one heard about it, CA posted a blog update about the historical content a few day back. TL;DR. PR speech with some information here and there leading towards: *One new DLC Charlemagne sized coming for Attila apparently. Related to the Viking invasions. They showed a blurry "hint" image that fits with Ireland, plus they mentioned a "crow" which is related to Odin. *Another DLC for an "older" title. My guess, Rome II. They also mentioned a pretty big free update for such "older" game, which makes sense to be Rome II to flesh out some of the stuff they promised and never ended up in the game when it was released. *Very far on the line, the new Historical title, no useful info whatsoever. Chances of something about China or Renaissance are high though. If you're a Warhammer fan, bear in mind they said the next piece of content will be one of the DLCs I mentioned above, so WH content after they re-implement Norsca in TW:WHII will come after. Didn't really expect Tomb Kings, Araby or whatever the first major added DLC faction ends up being for WH2 until 2018. Since we're in November already, for the rest of the year I'd expect WH2 to get the Norsca updates for Mortal Empires and probably one of the free-LC legendary lords that they listed as coming out. Judging from the image showing upcoming free-LC, the first one was Mortal Empires, the next one should be a Skaven LL based on the Skaven-y background on the image.

So today they finally announced the first DLC for the previous historical titles. It's gonna be indeed for Rome II, called "Empire Divided" it's the gap between TW Attila and Rome II, 3rd century. It'll have quite some factions and the whole idea is how Rome divided in different houses, like in Gaul with different units, then Iberia, etc. You also have some Hellenic kingdoms like Egypt, Palmyra, etc, and Eastern like the Sassanids, Armenia, Selucids. I'm digging the faction variety, and though not all units are new, since Rome obviously has pretty much the vanilla roster, they did add a bunch of new units for each faction. On top of that a a free complementary update bringing politics to life. Here's all explained, it's interesting if you enjoyed the political system to begin with. Some images about how the DLC is gonna look like are in the Steam page, I'm liking the new UI and the unit cards, also the campaign map looks less yellow-y which I like too. However 15 bucks for a DLC for a 4 year old game is a bit on the Rockstar level of WTF, I dunno... it seems to have quite a lot of content, but again, game is 4 years old.

I don't think that pricing sounds unreasonable at all based on how much content it seems to have. There's quite a lot of hours you can pour into a new grand campaign even if you just end up playing through it with a single faction.

15-17 dollars for that content is fine by me. That the game isn't new really carry zero importance for me when judging new content

For me the game being new as in a "novelty" factor is not relevant, actually I think Rome II looks super nice even by today standards. My gripe is the fact that all of this was built already years ago, is not as if they have to create a new engine new map and what not. Then again, they never released "cheap" DLC, so the pricing tag is not a surprise, and in their defense and giving the benefit of the doubt, it is true the DLC looks like a lot of content. I'd obviously keep my eyes peeled on Youtube once the early access starts rolling.

That must still be one of the worst examples of misleading advertising I have seen so far in gaming. Even though I like Warhammer, I am still a little bit salty about that. Rome II was supposed to be te ultimate TW for me...

I got it way later on, once it was pretty much completely fixed, so I wouldn't know. They ended up fixing it, but CA reached bottom line I think with Rome II (remember Empire was terrible too, considered to be the worst TW game if I'm not mistaken). Funny how the game now is still more popular than Attila. A combination of way better unit balance, less reskins, and overall better performance. I hope CA learned something with WH, they'll still release overpriced content in the future I'm sure, but if they do quality content (custom animations, good unit variety, etc) people will still buy their products.

Late Imperial Roman army is fundamentally different from Marian legions and I rather think they'd reflect that in the roster, since they did so in the 1st Rome TW and its expansion.

I have never really had an interest in the historical Total War settings to be honest; humans is boring yo! But I have to admit that I am rather intrigued by the mechanics in the Rome 2 FLC/DLC. Hopefully some of that political intrigue can make it over to Warhammer in the future.

I seem to recall they promised a stream yesterday? it never happened. Anyways, I'm interested about this new DLC too, it's Vikings and The Last Kingdom shows in one DLC, heh. I'm a bit worried about faction distinction here. They said there're 10 factions, but it's basically England vs Vikings, so essentially 2, or 3 if you wanna count the possible Celts as different. I dunno, it's a gripe of mine not having good distinction between factions, the "clone syndrome" if you will. In that regard TW Warhammer does a really good job, with all the factions looking completely different, and even playing differently.

This is nuts. Reminds me of the time back when playing Rome when I had four big armies converging in one spot. I was in a panic because I didn't know the opposition had two armies and my reinforcements were coming in. I thought my pc would go haywire.

I love that little Skaven dude narrating the video. I remember those other 2 videos they did, with the goblin dude and this same Skaven creature, they are very funny. Good thing they try to do this type of weird stuff and introduce it to the game, I think it helps maybe developing new stuff by trying new things, and you give something to the community to entertain themselves on the process.

It reminds me of the old classic, UT '99. It already has a very robust in-game mod system but the devs then went on to add new races, maps and additional combat features that's absolutely evil. For free. Ahhh, those golden days. I wonder if the laboratory is for mp too. It's going to be crazy if so.

Obviously all players will have to agree to play in the experimental mode, so no one will get nasty surprises when trying to play competitive.

Some new info about the next historical title (the standalone game based on Attila Engine, they call them "sagas" ) from CA's blog. Looking good so far. Hope variety it's not gonna be an issue when it's focused only in the British Isles. I had the same issue with Shogun, only being Japan kinda wares off the "diversity" after a while.

Well I found out what low grav does. The mobs fly into the air but they don't fly into space. They'll come down & die at the edges of the map so you'll end up with a dark outline.

So out of curiosity, anyone knows their way around DEI for Rome II? I just started a playtrhough with the mod and I'm having a hard time understanding some mechanics, especially the "Supply lines" system. I gave it a look to the manual they have, but it's too fucking long and ain't nobody got time for that...
