While standing in queue to pay for groceries, a magazine caught my eye. Kratos of GOW4, looking badass on the front page. Magazine? Men's Health. Much as I wanted to look through it, I would have to buy it. No browsing allowed so nope, I left with my curiosity unsatisfied.

Was really happy to hear that and it shows they did everything they could for this game and left nothing out to be saved. It's truly a finished product

Like I'm playing Horizon Zero Dawn currently (didn't play it last year) and all I can think is man, god of war was so good. lol

Said it better than i would have. Kinda annoyed by so many people suddenly claming that there was no depth to Kratos and/or God of War. Don't get me wrong i loved the new one and it's probably now my favorite one but there was still much more to the older titles. I wonder if all making those claims have actually played through all/any God of War game/s. I can certainly understand people simply not liking the series but having not played any of the games and then making such statements doesn't sit right with me.

I'm not planning to sour 13 minutes of my life, I presume this video is: 'Here's a good game and fuck EA...'Inb4 future videos: 'Bethesda announce their new IP and fuck EA...''Cyberpunk is on the way and fuck EA...' As far as I'm concerned: Motherfuck EA!

THAT'S the old school mentality that I want to see in gaming again! Respect to Cory and his team even moreso for not pulling that trash. See you for the sequel.

I finally played God of War (2018) and that is one of the best action games I've ever played so far! I finally completed my collection! Kratos sure says "boy" a lot, though.

I'm talking about the cooler one. I'm sensing a Marvel vibe. Might as well call it God of Infinity War.

Watched it on Youtube, I don't have a console and don't plan on buying one. I'm a big fan of mythology though, and watching that game was a blast. I enjoyed what they did with Baldur. in the original myth, he was not tortured or anything. He was the most beautiful and beloved god. and Loki tricked his blind brother into killing him with mistletoe. The only thing I'm wary of is Loki. because I do like Loki as a chaotic character. He did lack some kind of pathos, though, just trcking people for the sake of it...but I'm not sure the "Boy" is set up to be a trickster. It seems to me the whole story in game is how he was groomed to take revenge for the Giants death. And that's a great story angle, but maybe not good for the whole trickster chaotic for the lolz Loki. I'm curious to see where this will go.

Finally got the game two days ago. So I can finally enjoy it instead of just watching walkthroughs of the game.
While I'm having fun so far, I have to say I dislike a great deal the tier system in this game. If you try to go about exploring anything outside of the main quest area, you are more likely then not to run into purple enemies who kill you in a single hit. And if there is something I despise in open world games is being punished for exploring.

Just finished the main story, did all side quests pretty much as they were offered, so only have Valkyries, Muspelheim and Niflheim left to do.
I expected good gameplay -- combat and puzzles -- but was not prepared for how good the story was. Being a father of a son myself, beat for beat the story was one punch in the feels after another. Then there was a whole additional layer of interpreting the crazy, fucked up family shit that happens in Norse mythology, picking out the good parts, and making it something an irl parent could relate to. I like how they used myth for inspiration, but weren't held prisoner to it, rearranging things so that they fit the story better.
Finally, I also liked how they embraced the "quest hub" idea, often used in Bioware games, but took it a step further with the whole Lake of Nine thing that changed over time. I spent the vast majority of my 70+ hours of this run exploring the shit out of the Lake of Nine area. I was actually bummed when the "Explore all the Lake of Nine has to offer" trophy popped up.
