I have their Enterprise-D and I like it quite a bit. I would love to get a version of the Rocinante.

I have the NX-01 Enterprise It's a cool display or desktop piece. the (black/orange) Roci is definitely on my wish list as well. We'll have to wait a bit. In the article it says that they expect the first to arrive towards the end of 2021 or in early 2022.

So are they gonna compress the last three books into one season? Or do a spinoff series after the time jump? Or just end things with a "and they all lived happily ever after" before the time jump?

At this stage it looks like they are just going to stop at book six. I couldn't find any info though about how they are going to draw it to a conclusion. Seems like they may just skip the whole Laconia thing.

I haven't read the books, but as I wanted to find out I've read broad summaries of what happens or what's known so far. I'm perfectly fine if they end it with season 6 and leave out that whole arc mentioned in the spoiler tags + keep my favorite character alive They might or might not solve the overall mysteries, but at least like this the human solar system conflicts remain at a center point. While I'm a bit sad it will be ending, it will be one hell of a rocket ride and I'm thankful the cast, crew and fans know ahead of time, so it will help with plot lines, character arcs and coming to terms with it.

Maybe they’ll wait ten years and do a revival to cover the time skip I am sad we will miss the Laconian stuff, I cannot see any reason they could not have made the interval smaller except for the daughters age but hey Protomolecule yeah??? Your comment makes me think they may end this series but do a new one based on Laconia and it's story with younger characters like Filip in it but I think i read somewhere (maybe here) that the authors are moving on to a new series.

Currently watching Vikings (while playing Valhalla). Yesterday the Expanse trailer ran before an Episode on Amazon Prime. Vikings is an awesome show but still, in this case the advertisement was better than the show.

I kinda hope they won't try and cram everything into 2 seasons somehow. I'd hate to see some form of super rushed storytelling like we had in Babylon 5 season 4.
I'd like more for them to basically just finish the series with the end of book 6 and leave it there (for now).
Although I am not sure Books 5 and 6 really give enough material to fill 2 seasons, given that they already covered quite a bit of the setup in season 4. I think it would be possible to put books 5 and 6 into season 5 somehow but I don't quite see how they could put everything from books 7, 8 and the upcoming book 9 into one single season 6. I'm very curious which way they'll go there but I guess we'll be able to predict it all much better in two weeks when season 5 is out.

Yeah it's a difficult scenario, I want them to try and incorporate the Laconia stuff but it may be better to just resolve things after dealing with the Free Navy stuff. I think the complicating thing is whatever they decide in terms of what Bobbie and Alex find on Mars in Bobbie and Alex's personal missions in this series. I think the writers may come up with their own unique solution/ending and the novels will resolve their own solution.

I think the writers may come up with their own unique solution/ending and the novels will resolve their own solution. I really like the Laconia arc in the book but I definitely wouldn't want to see it crammed into one season. On the other hand, the series did extremely well staying very close to the books so far IMO and whenever they did deviate, it was a dip in quality rather than a strength (like the absence of a lot of the space arc in season 4 for example), so I am also skeptical about a completely reqritten scenario.
Since Ty Franck is lead writer on the show, I hope they will find a good solution that is at least very much in the spirit of the books.
Personally, I had been hoping for 7 seasons with season 5 covering books 5 and 6 and then another 2 seasons left for the Laconia arc and whatever book 9 will be. But we'll see.

I mean, they could just have the flight to Laconia fail as part of the Free Navy plot and cut that storyline at the root. That would make things feel resolved at any rate

That would make things feel resolved at any rate I think they'll probably just mention the Mars Rebellion by the Navy under Duarte to give the Free Navy thing context but not proceed with the whole take over of Medina Station and subsequent actions in Laconia.
The only alternative would be to remove the 30 year time jump and make it shorter and have the colony and Duarte and his daughters "progress" accelerated some way using the protomolecule.

Oh wow, I just found out they are no longer just going to dump the entire season on us on Dec 16th. Instead, that's when the first three episodes will be out and then they will do another one each week until the last one on Feb 3rd. Interesting. I think I find that better though. spreads out the excitement a little.
BTW, now that a definitive ending of the tv show is set (and especially if it were to end after book 6), how about an Expanse videogame? I could see a really cool concept, where you play a new character in this semi open world, (kinda similar to Mass Effect Andormeda with large environments to travel between. You'd be able to travel the entire Sol System and maybe also go through the ring gates later (potential for DLCs/expansions). I think building environments should be fine. The only really complex open environment in the Expanse universe is Earth and at that time it's easy to explain why you might only have very limited access to Earth after the meteor strikes. . Everything else is rather confined and should be possible to build (limited habitats + rather barren planet/moon/asteroid surfaces that you can build procedurally if need be). For travel I'd imagine a system similar to the very old game Star Trek: Generations. This was a rather mediocre game over all but it had this interesting mechanic where traveling would cost time and if you spent too much time you could even fail to catch a mission (or eventually if you screwed up too often the game). It would need a similar plot, where maybe you are chasing someone or you are chasing hints (maybe even on the Martians that left with -spoiler]Duarte[/spoiler]). Anyway, I could see an awesome game in the Expanse universe.

New article, shedding some light on the end of the series after s6: www.polygon.com/2020/12/10/22167489/the-expanse-season-6-canceled-or-season-7-beyond-plansWell, looking at this it seems to me like they will indeed do books 5 and 6 in seasons 5 and 6 respectively. Also the series was apparently not canceled due to budget concerns or anything like that and this article makes me hope that they will indeed pick it back up after a pause, which would be awesome but hopefully it's not gonna be 30 years. Or you know what? Maybe, just maybe they plan to make the last 3 books into a movie trilogy or something like that.

The movie idea isn't a bad one as that would allow them to use different and older actors.
