What an epic sci-fi show this is (among other things)! Held off reading the books so far, because the book writers are also part of the tv series crew, along with the excellent Naren Shankar (Star Trek, the Expanse, For All Mankind etc.) Wanted to know how the story continues for my favorite character (hint @ profile pic ), so in broad strokes I now know where the book stories is going so far. Such a thrilling, intertwining story and incredible worlds, culture and factions they‘ve built. Along with Mass Effect, it’s my favorite sandbox, so to speak. Bobbie is even more bad*ss in the books, if that's possible.

Caught up on the last two episodes. Finally, we really picked up speed! Love how close to the book Amos’ arc is. That’s really impressive.

I got an exclusive look at season 6. Apparently they use a ring to travel back in time 10,000ish years and stop the proto-molecule from becoming a proto-god-pharoah. Here's a look...

I am really enjoying season 5 but i wish they'd dropped all of the episodes at the same time.
Will definitely do a re-watch binge after it's finished as I think watching the stories more closely together will make them better as they are happening at the same time but I don't get that feel with the gaps between them.

the sooner we get back to Razorback and Earth/Luna storylines as the main focus the better. I like Nagata's character and I get the arc, but it has been all dragged out way too much to my liking. Was good to see not only Drummer but crew back, wonder if there will be a fight for control or crew betrayal soon on their belter ship. only 2 more episodes in this excellent season

Was good to see not only Drummer but crew back, wonder if there will be a fight for control or crew betrayal soon on their belter ship. only 2 more episodes in this excellent season It's a difficult line to walk in terms of building the desperation, tension and genius of Naomi's plight in her arc that shortening it would ruin it a lot like they ruined the tension between McMurtry and Amos in season 4 by shortening it. The whole Naomi thing also ties in with Earth, the Razorback and the Rocinante so I think they are doing a good job with all the inter-weaving arcs. I also love the Drummer arc and yeah will be interesting to see how closely they follow the books. I really hope people haven't forgotten that the woman spouting Marco's orders is not a part of the family. I cannot believe there is only two episodes to go as in my head there is just so much more that needs to be told. They seem to have pruned Amos's and Clarissa's journey to Baltimore by quite a bit. The show must cost a lot to make and given they know that it will at least halt at season 6 I just wish they'd made at least 12 episodes per season.

So last episode of The Expanse I thought was great but I felt there was something important missing but couldn't put my finger on it but I saw an article in Screen Rant that picked it up. It was a part of Naomi and Fillip's conversations that was not included but which seems quite impoertant. I will just cut and paste from the article: The sudden parting of Naomi and Filip means a big scene from the Expanse novels is skipped. During their original goodbye in James S.A. Corey's source material, Naomi leaves Filip with the emotional parting shot of "before you kill yourself, come find me." This line clearly reveals Naomi's intentions - she's heading off to save the Rocinante, but leaving the door firmly open for Filip to follow once he comes to his senses. Their farewell scene in The Expanse season 5 is far more vague. I wonder why they omitted that it seems important to me.

It must have been still in her cell/quarters. After all, in the airlock, when they last see each other the intention was that everyone on the Pella - Filip included - was tricked into thinking she'd killed herself. So it wouldn't make sense for her to say it then. Otherwise, I was surprised how straight they played Naomi's time on the broken ship. I was expecting them to rewrite that extensively. I didn't think the original book version makes for great tv scenes, given that most of it plays out in Naomi's thoughts. I think they did a decent jb adapting it but I am not sure if I would have gotten what exactly was going on without having read the books first. Would be interesting to get the perspective of someone who already watched the show but didn't read the books yet on this.

I was kind of dreading that scene on the Chezamoka or whatever it was called but I think they did a good job of it but I think without reading the book a lot of people wouldn't fully understand it. I have some friends who watch it but haven't read the books, I'll ask them.

Interestingly in the books Karal is a guy who worked on a ship with Marco and Cyn and he and his wife helped conceal Fillip from Naomi. I don't remember him being assigned as a spy on Michio Pa's (who Drummer plays in the TV show) ship in the books. Do you AnDromedary ?

She just had to deal with one guy who didn't want her to defect but he was always part of her crew/family.
At least that's how I remember it but I may be mistaken.

One of their best seasons overall, despite too much/long focus on Naomi's escape/rescue IMO
as for the finale: liked how the solved the Alex Kamal/Cas Anvar issue and giving him Fred's book death. Yeah, there seem to have been a couple of edits/reshoots, but I doubt many casual watchers knew/noticed. Would have liked to see a bit more of Drummer/Crew. Felt rather short in the finale for what happened/will happen. Going Dutchman was well done. Extremely disappointed however we didn't get the Amos/Avasarala Luna "welcome conversation" and no Bobbie surfing a rocket torpedo missile.

Oh come on man. After this ending, they HAVE to do season 7/8/9 eventually. There is no way to just end after 6 at this point. Overall another fantastic season. I wasn't that much into it in the middle but a) it's the first season I have seen after having read the books and b ) it's the first season I haven't binge watched. I actually do think it might even be better if binged, I will definitely watch it again in due time in binging mode. But overall, the final two episodes were especially cool and that ending, they just have to do 7/8/9, they really have to. And they really stuck super close to the book, kudos for that. Also: So they did it, they really killed off Alex, huh? Guess the allegations against Cas Anvar must have been too serious after all. Can't really see another good reason to do it. I think it's ok though. Of all the main characters, he's probably the one that is most replaceable in the end. Still a shame but well, better than one of the others, I guess.

I actually thought it was one of the worst... which to me is an 8/10. Certainly light years above whatever the fuck Star Trek and Star Wars are doing right now. Sorry guys, I love Picard and Mando and Baby Yoda but The Expanse is on a completely superior league. I actually loved Alex's death, he was one of my favorite characters and I was concerned how they would handle his departure from the show. It was super clever how they did it: place all the focus on Naomi, all the worries, all the concerns, all the stakes on her... and before you know it... Alex is gone. Yes Alex. That was indeed, one hell of a ride

I enjoyed the season but I hated having to wait a week for episodes to drop after the first three were released, I will totally watch them again in a short space of time and think it will make it better. The ending to me re Duarte and the Shadow Beings totally means they must have plans to do 7, 8, 9 as how can they resolve all that in one season??? I am not sorry to have seen Alex go out like that he also felt to me even in the books as a bit of a hanger on and if it wasn't for the ship needing a pilot he was the weakest link. It will be interesting to see where they go with Bobbie after this. hoku totally agree re the Amos/Averserala thing, very disappointed. And also re the Drummer crew point you raised.

If reddit is to be believed, one of the reasons it was weekly drops vs all at once were the final episode edits of removing Alex from the party at the end, changing Avasaralas "condolences" talk with Bobbie (her movements don't match her voice) and possibly the Crew back together at the Roci reshots. There were pictures (now removed) of him welcoming back Amos/Naomi and at the party on the Amazon bonus content page/app or whatever.
I'm ok with Bull becoming the new Pilot, would have liked it to be Bobbie though. Hope she's much more involved next season.
IMO, going by the comics and a brief summary of her book stuff, a lot of Martian storylines were unfortunately cut/reduced this season.
Would be neat to get more of the reporters view or snippets of her videos/texts as well from a viewing perspective.

I think they're saving up Bobbie to once again tear shit up with Avasarala. As for the Rocinante, I guess I would be ok with Bull piloting the ship as well (is he an earther or a martian though?) but with him and Peaches now it feels like the Roci is a bit too crowded for me ! I used to love how the entire gig was just the four of them: a little skeleton crew with a war machine on their hands ! Then again every character has been great so far, so no worries there. Can anyone, however, explain to me what the hell happened at the end of this season ? I have my own interpretation but I could do with some thoughts.

I do only know in broad strokes why/what happened after the party/ring gate attacks. (wanted to know Bobbie's story, so I read short summaries of all books last summer and her character wiki-page)
Why don't you write down your interpretation or/and questions and then others can chime in as well, maybe confirm or point you in a direction, without spoiling everything, unless that is want you want.
