Anybody remember this guy? Sure, this is a mobile game, and sure, it's pretty much an on-rails shooter with next to no plot, but it still has a little of that Mass Effect magic. It's got biotic powers, Tactical Cloak, Geth, Turians, sniping, credits, leveling up pwoers, rolling from hard cover to hard cover, the tactical menu, weapon and suit upgrades, and even a couple things the main games don't have, all dressed up with a little bit of plot. One thing I really like about it is that it's parallel to Shepard's story in ME3, but plays out pretty much entirely outside of the main game. I'm someone other than Shepard, playing out my own entirely separate story. I'm an agent of the Illusive Man, with Reaper-derived upgrades, yet I still have my own will, my own unique motivations. I wouldn't mind seeing more of this kind of thing in the future, whether in Andromeda or back in the Milky Way. With all the planets and people kicking around the Mass Effect universe, there's a lot of room for individual stories that don't affect the main games but are still fun and interesting to play through in their own right. Imagine playing as a black market dealer, vigilante, or enforcer on Omega, or how about being a C-Sec agent policing the wards on the Citadel? One of the things I like about Mass Effect is that its universe is so well fleshed out, but still has so much room for the imagination to play. Anyway, though I think this game is still available on iOS, sadly it's been pulled from the Android market, so unless you've previously purchased it and want to re-install it, there's no *legitimate* place to get it new. I know a lot of people aren't fans of mobile gaming, but I had a lot of fun playing this one. The graphics were pretty great for the time, the sound was good, there was a little tactical stuff to work out, the controls were decent, and there's even a bonus war asset for finishing. Anyway, this has been the Daily Ramble™ with your host crashsuit, thanks for reading.

I still have it on android, but it tells me it's not compatible with any of my devices these days. Was fun to play though, and I actually don't really like mobile games. This was one of the few exceptions.

I still have it on android, but it tells me it's not compatible with any of my devices these days. Was fun to play though, and I actually don't really like mobile games. This was one of the few exceptions. Yeah same, I usually stick to puzzle games on my phone, I've never really cared for console-style controls on mobile games, but I think they did a pretty good job of making the controls feel as natural as they could given the limitations of working with a phone screen. It still installs fine on my old Note 2, but I haven't actually tried to put it onto my new phone yet, hope I don't run into any problems there. As far as the game itself, I liked banter Randall has with Inali, the doctor, and the Volus. It's got a similar feel to Shepard chatting during a mission with squadmates or people back on the Normandy. All the little bits of combat chatter he throws out, too - "Peekaboo", "Hello", "Beautiful" - they remind me of the canned lines from the other games. A little corny sometimes but they don't really get old and add a little extra flavor.

Yeah, it truly felt like Mass Effect for the small screen, and despite the near universal hate for Cerberus these days I liked the change of perspective. I also appreciated that it didn't try to nickel and dime me for every magazine reloaded or whatever the latest dick move in the mobile sector is. It is a good, solid game. Not free2wait, not free2fail. Not many of those around.

One of the few mobile games I actually liked and a lot better than Galaxies which I could not finish. A pity they discontinued support for it and it doesn't look like they're investing in another mobile game too soon.

Congratulations: You've gotten me stuck on the image of a Cerberus soldier playing peekaboo and messing with my head.

Congratulations: You've gotten me stuck on the image of a Cerberus soldier playing peekaboo and messing with my head. Ha! It's actually one of his combat lines from the game, when he decloaks to shoot. Like how Garrus (or any MP Turian) will call out "Textbook!", etc.
