Sara Ryder 'SisRyder' (Official Thread)

You know, this is why I didn't play Mass Effect for years. I thought it was nothing more than a man-fantasy in space. Which is fine, but not necessarily a thing I'm interested in playing. All I saw advertised was Sheploo, so for a long time, I wasn't even aware you could play as a female character. It wasn't until I got hooked on the Dragon Age games and joined the BSN forums that I realized you could play as FemShep and discovered how fun these game are.

I was very excited when I found out that Ryder was named for Sally Ride. A lot of us thought they would cover both Ryders in the trailers. Now I'm irritated, knowing there are other women out there who are probably writing off Mass Effect for the same reasons I initially did. Because the marketing department is hiding Sara because people on the internet said she's ugly.

Seriously, everyone needs to do this STAT. Go out and buy Horizon. It's a well made game featuring a FEMALE PROTAGONIST and doesn't shy from it. I am wondering right now why the hell I wasted this month waiting for crumbs from Mass Effect when I could have been playing Horizon instead.

Oh God, this marketing has been glorious

As a consumer, I feel I don't matter . It wouldn't be so bad if they would have not promised us they will market equally
I wouldn't mind so much if they wouldn't throw gaymers under the bus
But the thing is... they did. They promised us Sara would have her equal piece of marketing. They promised us we will have plenty of romance options (FOR EVERYONE, that was implicit).

But damnit, I feel...angry? disappointed? saddened? salty? by how Sara was handled in marketing. Still, that shouldn't detract from the game /sigh

Regarding the Sara trailer, as of last Thursday, BW was still working on it. Either it never was a big priority or they never planned to do one in the first place.

Ha, and we have a confirmation they're still working on it - they never planned to release it and didn't even make one just in case. What a terrible promotion, seriously... 

In the defense of Bioware and the trailer, it is not they who cuts it together. That is most likely done by a 3rd party hired through EA marketings division, the only thing Bioware provides is footage. It also isn't something you cut together in a day or two, it takes time, often weeks. You are kind of acting like children when it comes to this. Yes i want the trailer aswell, but patience young grasshoppah!

Then they should have never stated that Sara would be the default and tried to pretend both twins were getting equal marketing. It doesn't matter that they're not the ones physically putting the trailer together. It's the fact they're only putting it together last minute after people called them out on it. This would never have happened to Scott.
