I'm not gonna post vids because I want people to play the games and experience them the way they were meant to but I will say this: The Darkness- Jenny. Other than that, the first time I played ME2's SM I was so pumped I finished at 5 in the morning, slept for two hours, went to work and didn't even feel it. >The Darkness- Jenny This man knows. I remember getting The Darkness very cheaply as one of my first PS3 games and I've gotta say I didn't expect the ride that game gave me. How did the lot of you forget Life is Strange is beyond me. Haven't played it.

While more than a bit cheesy (like the entirety of the game), I did enjoy the character arc of Man-Bot in Freedom Force. I couldn't find individual videos of these cutscenes, so I linked them in a Let's Play instead. Origin Story Game Ending

Gears of War is such a dudebro macho shooter, like, dude, like, oh my God, fuckin' chainsaws n shiiiiiet For real though, Gears has an excellent story, I think. One that is very detailed, has vibrant and memorable characters who make the player/reader feel all kinds of emotions, and never feels dull. Dom in particular has one of the most tragic character arcs I've ever seen, it's so sad and dark that it almost becomes comical because it makes you think that if there is a God, he hates this man. For reference, his brother sacrifices himself during the Pendulum Wars, a 79-year long conflict. Then he loses his 2 young children and his own parents during E-Day, when subterranean, genocidal monsters invade the surface. The deaths of their children makes his wife, Maria, go a little loopy, and she ends up going missing for 14 years. Dom devotes every waking moment for said 14 years trying to find his wife, and when he finally does, she's been tortured (and subject to implied lobotomy) to the point of no longer acknowledging his presence and is little more than a husk, and the only way he can end her suffering is through euthanasia. Not only all of this, but he slinks into a massively all-consuming depression after losing just about everyone who he has ever loved and begins to occasionally speak out at times, like he's talking to the spirit of his deceased wife. Then, in Gears 3, he rams a fuel tanker at high speed into a gas station pump to kill off a massive wave of incoming Locust and enable his friends to escape.
His story is nothing but death, tragedy, and darkness. There is very little in the way of relief for Dom.

KOTOR2:
Bao-Dur's Dialogue with the Exile:
"...the longest you have looked at me..." then the Exile nods, and Bao-Dur on that one nod activates the doomsday device. No matter how many actual romances I have played, nothing compared to the emotional impact of this scene in terms of what I would describe as a perfect love-scene in a video-game.
SWTOR
Smuggler's Story: Female Smuggler leading on Skavak, and then kneeing him in the groin. Skavak's subplot is probably the best-executed sequence with rivalry that I have seen so far, and I loved that culmination moment on it, and the clever use of the Smuggler's in-game dirty kick ability.
Underlurker, dead. Every.F***g. Time.
Consular Story: Zenith shoots, Theran screams, Zenith steps out of the shadows. Oh, hells!
Sith Lord: Taking off Vette's slave collar. Just... almost too sweet. But somehow not so.
Mass Effect 3:
Mordin's song trailing off...
Renegade Option to say: "For Thane!" and shoot Kai Leng
Synthesis Ending. I have never met those other two people that (as the urban legend has it) liked the Mass Effect trilogy endings, but I loved the whole wrap-up, the feel of it, and the final step Shepard took into the void.

We're on a Bioware forum, and nobody posted the ending of Citadel? I am disappoint.
I know not everybody agrees, but for me, this DLC was a beautiful farewell to the trilogy and its wonderful cast of characters.

I enjoyed what ended up being the final moments in the Legacy of Kain series. The series never got a true, conclusive ending because of Amy Hennig's departure, but it ended pretty well with "hope". "The Soul Reaver, pure of all corruption... and the Scion of Balance is healed." "Most ironic was the last gift Raziel had given me... Hope." That was the first truly cinematic game series, with top shelf voice acting, that I'd ever experienced. Michael Bell, Simon Templeman and Tony Jay-- those guys were incredible, as were some others (like René Auberjonois) in the series. I've yet to hear a game/series acted any better. The VA work was beautiful. I bought Uncharted with no hesitation solely because of Amy Hennig's involvement. Obviously, that turned out pretty well. Bah. I'm going to end up on YouTube watching this, now. I never should've gotten rid of my old Xbox.

The Legacy of Kain series is just completely incredible and Raziel is probably my favorite protagonist of my 24+ years of gaming. Speaking of 24+ years of gaming, I've had the pleasure of enjoying plenty of amazing moments and I know I'll forget some, so I'll just write what occurs to me now after so long. [] The ending to Phantom Crash on original Xbox. It still brings tears to my eyes. It was so beautiful and sad and tender. [] Thane's final scene in ME3 also makes me cry thinking about it. His last wish was for Shepard... what a beautiful gift. [] Garrus' romance was wonderful. My favorite in any game so far. [] NWN2: Motb - I really enjoyed this expansion. Kaelyn's ending where her wings turned black as she fought against the injustice of the Wall was powerful for me. I was so proud of her, fighting against the gods. [] The whole Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines experience. The ending (Anarchs for me) and then the awesome ending song playing as the credits scrolled upward just blew me away. [] Panzer Dragoon on the Saturn. The opening is something I'll never forget. The whole series (minus Orta) was beautiful. [] FF9's ending. It, like Phantom Crash's, was beautiful and sad. [] Scariest moment for me (now) was in Silent Hill on ps1. The final scene with Lisa. It terrified me and made me so sad. Scariest for me as a kid was when the cop in Resident Evil 2 turned into a zombie in front of you. I was so scared I screamed at my sibling to turn it off asap. [] Finding out who Solas was at the end of Inquisition....wow. I was genuinely shocked. [] That damn goat in Broken Sword: the Shadow of the Templars. There's still so much more, but I don't want to take up too much of the thread.

I could list a lot of things that got me emotional in videogames, but the 4 games that left the biggest mark on me and I will remember forever were... (Spoilers obviously!) - Nier: After finishing the game, you can replay a certain part of it. This part absolutely crushed me and I highly recommend Nier to anyone who loves a fucked up story and a knife in the heart - The Last Of Us: This is the only game ever that took me 15 minutes to cry, barely knowing the characters. Well done. The other part was when Ellie got David. Fantastic videogame and one of my all-time favs. - Final Fantasy X: Macalania nightswim scene and the ending. Ugh, my heart. - And of course I wouldn't be here without Mass Effect! The trilogy has plenty of moments that can make me break down and weep like a little baby and scene No. 1 here is... ME3's ending! Even though I loved it, it made me so damn sad. It was the first time I ever truly cared about a character I had created and I was thinking about the ending for days, even now I always start a new character when I finish ME3, it's like a vicious cycle, but it's great to battle the post-sadness

Not a lot for me. Mordin is one. The other is Trico and his guardian. I didn't cry for Mordin, I just felt very sad. But Trico and the boy? You can't not cry at the end. The devs did a great job with Trico; he's everything a much loved pet / companion is. There would be times of frustration, times where you want to cuddle him, times you want to make sure he's safe. Trico reciprocates in kind and fierce in protecting the boy.

I got angry when FF7's flower girl got killed.
Really this what everyone got butthurt over.
It was a ballsy move on Square's part. Up until that point not many maincast members of a RPG were killed in action.

One of the most emotional scenes I remember from any video game must be the ending of Mass Effect 2's Overlord DLC. While the DLC is rather mediocre overall, the way this story is told and concluded did manage to make me feel very angry and sad at the same time. It may be a bit cliche but the cinematic design, musical cues and the superb voice acting do wonders to just push my buttons. Also, best paragon interrupt of the trilogy. I always do it.
Kudos to BW for pulling this one off. The square root of 906.01 is ...

This short fmv that plays after the first Soviet mission in Red Alert 1(that involves wiping out a Polish rebel held village) where a Yak attack plane strafes the village and you hear kids fleeing in terror off-camera with the teddy bear being dropped to the ground to be more "emotionally engaging" and effective at what it set out to do than the whole vent kid business in ME3's intro.
