There was a chain outdoors store I went to a few years ago (I think it was a Gander Mtn) that had Beretta Storms out on the floor. The ones there felt like flimsy pieces of shit, but maybe they were just poorly cared for as that particular store was a depressing place all around. Didn't get to shoot them as it was a chain retailer and I wasn't about to buy something that failed to impress me.
They do look neat, though.

I could have told you. The 17 is and has been my sidearm of choice for nearly a decade now. It's just...well it's somewhat difficult to control muzzle climb during fully automatic fire. That said its a worthy addition to have if for no other reason than its potential rapid response attributes. o.o I don't got a stock for mine though. Last one broke and I never replaced it. Interesting. Would you say that the Glock in general is deserving of his rugged and reliable reputation? And what about other aspects, such as accuracy ease of carry and ease of use? I know that some choose the Glock because it's relatively cheaper than some alternatives, but somehow I don't think this is why you chose it. It's very reliable with just basic maintenance, I usually run around 150-300 rounds a month and with just some simple cleaning I have the confidence that it will never fail me if I needed it. So yes I think its reliability claim is more or less on point, though I will advise against running cheap ammo through them, but I am against that in most guns, that said on the point of ammo. 9mm Luger is probably the most common handgun cartridge anywhere in the fucking world so I will never run out of it. On points of accuracy, that's something of a issue with me given that I have a fairly large hand and had to get a customized grip just for the thing to remain in my palm easier during repeat firing sessions, but on that point overall its standard design lends itself to firing accurately if you know what you are doing. Both single and double handed stances will work with it, though I favor heavily single hand firing and the best bit about its accuracy to me is that if you know what you are doing it can hit a target at 50 yards with no issue at all, and while that's true of most semi autos, I believe that the Glock has no failing in this area. On weight, and ease of use well, its design is somewhat initially off putting but it will become comfortable if you use it enough, its a pretty standard configuration so you don't have to stress odd finger and hand placement like say on a Webley or Luger. On weight? No issue there, its large enough and heavy enough you know its there but its not like its the heaviest semi auto you can find on the market. Why I got one though? Well initially it was just a cheap pistol I picked up a gunshow I will not lie and claim I got it for any specific reasoning, but yes, it was cheap, it shoots cheap ammo, and there are boatloads of parts available for it. I had of course heard about their reputation and how they were hailed as something of an odd but very reliable handgun but that said over my tenure of using it I have come to respect the pistol. I give all firearms their due of course, but the 17 is something I can put confidence that it will not fail me, that it will not cost me the moon to shoot and that it will kill whatever I aim at if I need it to. Overall there is no great romantic story about how I became infatuated with the gun line unlike some of the other items in my collection, but the Glock is sort of my reliable everyday handgun that I cannot believe I ever went without.

I never personally owned a firearm, but I had plenty of experience with them in the military. On that note...

I sort of want a Smith & Wesson 617 just so I can be more of a cheapskate for ammo. My dad actually has one, and amusingly complains about having to clean 10 chambers, heh. Although really I would probably just get another 9mm since I have wanted to try out the P320.

Great video about the history of the 1911, and its use in video games. I'm more interested in the historical side of the video, but the channel does cover weapons in video games.
If I ever manage to own a pistol (and in NY, that is a big if), then I'm def going for a 1911. .45 caliber stopping power, rather low profile for a pistol, and a decent enough weight to help deal with recoil.
Mind you, I've only ever fired a .22. And that was when I has 12. Haven't had the opportunity to fire a weapon since then.

They're good guns and great show pieces, but on a practical level you'd be better off buying almost anything else. They're expensive, heavy and have low ammo capacity. How about the desert eagle then? To be honest, I love the Eagle and I'm planning to buy one next year in .44. I'm already saving cash for this purchase. And this has absolutely nothing to do with the TV, games and media clichè, I want to buy it because its a great firearm. Some years ago I shot a friends .44 magnum Eagle and I was absolutely impressed. The action was smooth as glass, fit and finish was great, its recoil was relatively tame for this kind of power, the grip angle was comfortable, the grip itself fit me like a glove and it was super easy to shoot it very accurately. Yeah, it might be heavy for a pistol, but in fact it felt nicely balanced and my arms didn't get tired from shooting it at all. A total joy to shoot. Before I shot it I didn't really liked the Desert Eagle and thought it was a gimmicky clichè pistol from lame ass 80's movies, but its actually a dang good firearm for what it is.

Oh yeah, New York. I keep forgetting that commie places exist in this great country. Makes sense, even if i'd still go with something else.
Also, don't get a deagle unless you're getting it for shits and giggles, Ambush. They have a tendency to jam plus they're fucking humongous.

How bad is the deagles jamming problem in .44? IMO unless the jamming problem is happening every other shot. I'd think it'd be faster to clear a deagle than a problem from a revolver.
