I read the book last year when it came out and ...
I went F*** when I reached the end. I'm sorry to see her go.
yea, I just finished it last weeek. I can't belive she was killed off like that. that seemed like such a weak ending for such an amazing character. and duku still got away?! he was in a bunker, sourounded by clones, under the gaurd of 2 jedi masters. wtf!? all in all, it was a great ride. I would recommend the book to anyone who likes atris as a character I was entertaining visions that she would be something like Darth Traya / Kreia given her background, what she went through and her present circumstance. I'm with you on the ending. Could have been better. I was annoyed, frankly. I don't think I'm going to buy another SW novel. I read the one on Ahsoka, thinking there would be some revelations of the missing years and it just turned out humdum. The only thing of note is where she got her white lightsabers from, the new lore on crystals, her link up with Senator Organa and the Inquisitors.

Can any Brandon Sanderson fans answer a question for me? In his cosmere universe I've read the first Mistborn trilogy and first Stormlight Archive so far. How important are Elantris, Emperor's Soul, and Warbreaker in relation to the other books? Should I read them sooner rather than later? My impression is that at this point his books only relate in terms of Easter eggs, but that eventually they will connect more.

How important are Elantris, Emperor's Soul, and Warbreaker in relation to the other books? Should I read them sooner rather than later? My impression is that at this point his books only relate in terms of Easter eggs, but that eventually they will connect more. Heyas, never read Elantris myself so can't speak to that. I've read everything else named (Except Oathbringer in the Stormlight Archive, Waiting for paperback.) You're basically spot on in your impression that they relate but that relation has yet to reach fruitition. It's basically just shard/adonalsium/Hoid easter eggs. Emperor's Soul is a very quick enjoyable read but isn't terribly important to any events really. It felt more like Brandon Sanderson finally said to himself one day, "Hey, I want a Hugo." And he made that to get one. (And just that easily too...) I'd recommend it as one of the best short stories I've read, also in the tone of Sanderson so yay. But import to the cosmere? Doubt it. More like trophy-fodder from someone that knew they could. Warbreaker's abilities might come into the fore some day. It's part of Cosmere and at least one of the shards is definitely there. I found it an enjoyable one off. That being said it's arguably the most "skippable" of the cosmere books. At some point an understanding of how the magic works might be worthwhile. I personally liked the story/characters though. *** I'm not sure when all of these will finally coalesce into something amazing as a whole. I know the Dragonsteel series that's been off and on for years now (was part of his masters thesis iirc) will give a significant amount of backstory to the cosmere. He wants to write that in such a way that it is enjoyable for anyone to pick up without hunting easter eggs from the previous books though. Not sure how well that will go though. Hoid will be the main protag. (Hoid fyi has appeared in every cosmere book, even Mistborn.) Stormlight is a 10 book series set in two 5 book arcs. It's possible the second of the arcs might start to push a few things together. At the end of the most recent Wax/Wayne book he certainly sets up some potential cosmere-impact-level stuff.

Thanks, that was really helpful! It sounds like then that while I might get around to them eventually, for now I can just focus on reading Mistborn and Stormlight Archive in their sequential orders and not worry about missing something vital.

Picked up Stephen King's The Running Man out of sheer curiosity. Read through it in one sitting. Its going to be one of those rare books that sees me come back and reread it immediately after the first time.
Loved the twists near the end, and the sarcastic humor was great.

If you read the other books in the series, it's a much of the sameness.

But if you read them all, you will see certain connections (easter eggs, as you said) I have noticed more blatant connections between the Stormlight books and Warbreaker..

Railhead Series: Can someone tell me if this is cyberpunk or something else in genre? Based off the covers it looks like it would be Steam Punk, but I could see some cyberpunk in the blacklight express cover. Series takes place in the far future where people use trains to travel from planet to planet mainly instead of ships. They go from train station on planet A thorough a device called a K-gate that seems akin to a Stargate to train station on planet B. Humanity had advanced and has stagnated and regressed to where would be about 1900 -loosing knowledge of the past. Guardains still exist that guide(?) humanity and seem to be the only ones who know the truth -or is it all lies? I just can't tell if this applies to steam or cyber punk since the series deals with far off future tech but at the same time uses train tech circa 1800's.

Sounds like the same idea from pandora's star. They developed wormholes, and used that tech to explore and colonize instead of ships. They used trains to travel between these wormholes,, shipping large amounts of cargo/passengers between worlds.
I truly am beginning to think it is most likely what i said originally and cyberpunk.

I just finished this book: Think I'll take a short break from Dostoevsky and look from some 19th century English literature. The above book was pretty good though as usual in his books you get frustrated with the hero or heroin of his book s for letting everyone walk all over them. The book did have one of the best villains I've seen in a while, I wanted to reach through the pages and just throttle this guy numerous times.

A VERY different story than The Martian. I'm not sure I'd call it very different. The martian was about survival in a hostile environment. This one is about survival in a city environment. The city just happens to be on the moon. Still a great story, with plenty of that old andy weir wit. I'd def recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the martian.
