Cheers re Side jobs. Re battle ground, yeah it's funny how that can happen!!!. Really enjoyed "Small Favour" Nicodemus is an awesome villain I liked the whole gang, keep meaning to look up if there is fan art especially of Deidre. I also loved the Three Billy Goats Gruff and Harry's way of not getting stomped by the third Billy Goat. Was a bit pissed off with Harry getting pick pocketed of the coins it seemed to me to have been too easy. Hey spoiler me, did Nicodemus die or just get weakened?

Hey spoiler me, did Nicodemus die or just get weakened? If you want to be spoilered... Nicodemus survived, and is strong as ever, but his throat was damaged and now speaks with a rasp. He's quite wary of Dresden, now that he knows Nicodemus' weakness. He appears again in Skin Game where they are forced to TEAM UP in a supernatural heist.

In other book news, I started with The Witcher book series. Given that I am a huge fan of the games, it always seemed wrong not to have read the books and nt that I just saw the Netflix series, I was in the mood. Started with the "The last Wish" short story compilation, which is pretty much what they based all of Geralt's stories in the tv show on. Pretty decent so far. Didn't expect Geralt to be such a chatterbox in the book though. YES! I love love love the novels. It's all about the characters. Very Bioware-style in a sense with lots of banter and loyal companions and so much heart it makes you bawl your eyes out at the end. Yes, start with The Last Wish. Then read the actual saga. Read Sword Of Destiny AFTERWARDS. Because for the full emotional impact you need to have gone through hell with these characters. Only then can you really appreciate the flashback stories imo. Especially the one where Geralt and Ciri first meet. Probably one of the most emotional reading experiences of my life, this short story. And yes, book Geralt is quite chatty and makes friends everywhere he goes, which is kind of hilarious for an outcast, hahaha. That's why I thought the Netflix series did him a bit of a disservice. The focus was so much on Yennefer that Geralt's nuanced personality got totally overshadowed. It needed more banter But that's modern storytelling for ya. All about the women. Kappa Neko : Thanks for the tip about the reading order. I just finished The Last Wish and was about to start Sword of Destiny but I put it aside now as per you recommendation. I decided to throw in Season of Storms now though because from all I saw, it fits best before the actual saga begins. Decent start so far, though those bean eating farting guards were a bit weird, I gotta say. That's interesting, regarding being fully invested in the characters, though I was probably already from the games. But I chose to read Season of Storms last and I didn't regret it. Since it doesn't fit nicely in terms of book order, doesn't it take place somewhere in the middle of Sword of Destiny? Also, the epilogue with Nimue and Geralt is more meaningful if that is the end for you I thought. Plus, after Lady of the Lake some lighthearted cheese featuring Geralt and Dandelion was very nice.

Ah, shit. You're right about Season Of Storms. My memory is a bit foggy but wasn't that book basically written specifically to kind of change the ending? A friend told me that fans could not handle the implication that Geralt and Yen died at the end at the hands of those stupid villagers. I thought it was a poetic end to Geralt's story. Died doing the right thing. It was a greatly upsetting though if you interpret the ambiguous ending as Citi making up a happily ever after to cope with her grief. Which was the interpretation that my BF abd I "liked" best. But fans kind of wanted him to live so SoS was written to do away with the ambiguity? I'm not sure if that's true. My memory on that book is a bit foggy too, but the epilogue suggests that Geralt survived, right?

I'm done, in fact. It was a random book selection. I wanted something not violent to read to relax, so children's books are always a good pick. Had no idea what it was about, just knew it was famous. It was spooky how much the moral of the story resonated with my current situation. Like it was written for me. That was cool!

From my understanding, the ending to Season of Storms is not meant to be taken literally, its Sapkowski speaking to the reader through Geralt. The legend of Geralt will never die if you continue to remember and all that jazz. But yeah, if taken literally it does open up a whole can of worms, though either way it is still ambiguous.
Personally I always viewed the ending is Geralt and Yen surviving. Since Geralt was bandaged up and even though Ciri had renounced the "power" the unicorns had previously told her that the "power" is still within her. I also viewed it as Ciri probably never seeing either of them ever again, since she is too dangerous to be around, though forever is a long time. I view Ciri crying through that lens, her actually having no clue what there future holds.
Still pretty depressing, my man Dandelion will never see his bro ever again! Even if Season of Storms is taken literally its takes place one hundred years into the future, so if that would seem more upbeat remember poor Dandelion would be dead by then!

After a devastating galactic war, disgraced veteran Ralston Muck ekes out a living as a bouncer at Last Stop Station’s premier nightclub, A Curtain of Stars. Night after night he listens to the club’s star performer, Siren, sing her memories and ease some of his aching loss. But when Siren goes missing, Muck finds himself drawn into a world of dirty cops, drug lords, and conspiracies that trace back to the war itself.
The only person he can trust isn’t even human. Angel, Siren’s personal AI, was ripped from the singer’s mind the night Siren disappeared. With no idea what has happened to her human host, and pursued by a killer virus, Angel flees to Muck for answers.
Together they struggle to comprehend the conspiracy that entangles both their lives. Can Muck and the angel on his shoulder recover Siren before it’s too late? Or will he lose everything that matters to him one more time?

So read Side Jobs the short stories baed on The Dresden Files up to where i am in the reading order which is Turn Coat which I started reading last night.
The short stories were mostly Okay but a couple were very good. I especially liked the one I think it's Heorot about Harry and Gard and the one with Michael in it where one of his daughters gets kidnapped The Warrior.
Not sure about "Jakes" introduction into the stories., I like the idea but it's a bit much is the only way I can put it. Does make some interesting I guess philosophical points.

"The Warrior" is my absolute favorite of the Dresden short stories. Very "It's a Wonderful Life" "Jake" pops up again from time to time, but rarely takes an active role in what's going on.

Haven't read the fourth one yet (It's not due out for a few more weeks) But what I've read of the series is awesome. Brandon Sanderson is one of my favorite authors. But fun fact: his other novels Warbreaker, Elantris, all of his Mistborn books, and his White Sand comics are set in the same universe (literally, different planets, same universe) called The Cosmere. You don't have to read them to get the Stormlight Archive, but there are easter eggs in there to find.
