I do wish there could be an option that you maybe have to do an extra side quest for, where you investigate who the Charlatan is prior to the big reveal. Although you don't have any concrete evidence, it would be cool to have a description or something that implies it's the guy that smuggled out our hearts and Ryder has the option of maybe being on the cusp of putting two and two together. It would be hilarious if Reyes was hella nervous and awkward and said "Ryder, I didn't want to lie to you.." To which Ryder responds: "I wish you would've told me, before I launched the investigation... I knew it was you, you're not as careful as you think.' I'd like to have my Ryder kind of show herself as a little bloodthirsty and clearly at the will of her love for Reyes. I think the shock that Reyes hypothetically received from that interaction would be worth it. [Also I've done my waiting- 12 years of it- to have my Scott Ryder romance with Reyes. I am so curious about what this update will provide for me in this particular play through. I was really surprised by how adorable my Scott was in game, and I want to see how the make the romance better.

It's obvious she really does like Ryder, despite that the no strings (if you read her emails), and now I have to actually complete her romance in my next playthrough (sorry Reyes ). It's possible to complete both hers and Reyes' in the same playthrough, so why pick one when you can have both? Heh, that was sort of my plan to use an earlier save to go back and finish hers. It was supposed to be a PB playthrough, I think, and I just wanted to check out Reyes because I love Nicholas Boulton's voice acting, and got distracted... I do like them both a lot though.

I don´t think Reyes look is that good. However, it is his personality that makes him hot. I love sleek, confident, clever, calculating, selfish guys.

Maybe animations are weird sometimes but still he's best looking male romance option in game. Of course it's subjective. Also I really like his voice. He's interesting and have good chemistry with Ryder so it's enough for me. I would like more content with him for sure.

And yes, I agree he is the best looking male romance options. And the chemistry is so intense, which I also love. But his face, isolated, is not that good looking. It´s the whole concept of Reyes that gets me going.

Gotta agree there. I've seen some people have mention how they'd like an "upgrade" to Reyes' looks, with pics of super models. I personally prefer and hope for the character to stay as-is, even though he's not the prettiest boy ever (though still easily the best looking male LI in MEA). I think it suits his character, where indeed his personality and mannerisms are what count the most.
edit: Have to say though I love his eyes and mouth, and the wink. So who knows what my point even was.

Maybe some litlle things with complexion ect. He looks just fine. Nobody's perfect not even super models they're just photoshoped.

In order to trigger romances in at least Dragon age series and Mass Effect series (played KOTOR too long ago to remember) it seemed that in order to trigger them, my character (I always play female) had to do all the initial flirting. My characters would never get a date if she didn't move first. Ugh. Having Reyes walk up and be the smooth talker and buy me a drink (despite that I had to pay for it) was a real plus.

If you side with Reyes at the reveal, someone dies. If you don't side with him, you don't get to kill him. Shoot yes, but he doesn't die. He lives on. He's meant to live on for something in the future.

I think they can tweak his appearance a little bit to make it more unique whilst still keeping his original charm. As it is now you can actually make him in the CC.

Here's the thing about this romance and my issues with Ryder. Be patient with where I'm going here.
Shepard was a bad-ass, a seasoned warrior. That was a set of combat boots I could jump into. I have trouble jumping into Ryder because she feels like a floundering kid thrown into her daddy's shoes. I've played the other romances here in ME:A and again, I feel like a floundering kid in a young romance novel. With Reyes, I actually feel like Ryder is somewhat mature.
I can't relate to an immature character, but I dig playing the mature and capable one. Reyes not only is a different dimension in the romance options, but he puts a different dimension on my own character so I actually like my Ryder better too because of the dimension he brings to it.

Yeah, I've definitely noticed how natural flirting with Reyes feels compared to the terribly awkward attempts with some of the other LIs. It's a massive part of why Ryder/Reyes feels so right to me.

Yes, I agree with you there. I'm a little bit older than most of the crew is supposed to be (they are 22-25ish?), and probably this is Bioware shifting the target audience a bit younger, but I thought the same thing. It was a bit easier to relate to, as Ryder was a lot less bumbling, . I also agree with others, I like characters that are a bit more forward in the romance. Especially where I'm not playing a seasoned soldier like Shepard, who probably was pretty intimidating herself, unlike Ryder who I see as more thoughtful and cautious on the field than badass. To me, Ryder is more the young and optimistic explorer type. Shepard was a fiery and cynical earthborn/sole survivor, who probably never would have agreed (willingly) to host a SAM in the first place.

I think with SAM a big part of agreeing to have implant is that SAM is Ryders dad creation. I don't know but it's a bit comforting for me. In previous games I couldn't imagine that someone would put AI in his brain willingly. Still I can understand Ryders but not so much Pathfinder teams. You have to be bald or crazy considering the way AI is treated in Milky Way. Also funny is how different is Angara view on AI. They seem to have no problem with it at all.

Oh yeah, Ryder strikes me as much more positive about A.I. and there are lots of dialogue options supporting SAM. I agree Ryder seems to view SAM as a link to their deceased parents..hopefully that's not clouding Sara/Scott's judgment too much, but I do see Sara as very enthusiastic about continuing her father's work. I wonder what Reyes thinks about SAM? We know he sees SAM as useful, and is probably one of the reasons he's initially interested in Ryder as a Pathfinder.

Except, no one complained about Liara being open about her feelings and in case of Anders all uproar came from a really bad arrangement of friend\rival points so there was no way to turn down Anders without rivalry points for male characters. And after that lot's of straight men were surprised to find themselves in somehow established gay relationships. Hence - the uproar. But BW, in it's usual clumsy style, simply cut everything anyhow related to the matter and now NPCs do not dare to flirt with us.

But BW, in it's usual clumsy style, simply cut everything anyhow related to the matter and now NPCs do not dare to flirt with us. They kinda reintroduced the NPCs initiating romance in MEA. Peebee and Jaal can both do it out of the squaddies, and Reyes' intro was fairly flirtatious. And while I agree that the rivalry points were the main issue in turning down Anders, IMO some of it is just his personality. It's one thing when the debonair smuggler who's really chill cozies up to you. It's another when the guy who has serious psychogical issues does it. Anders struck an IRL NOPE nerve for a lot of folks, and while that made him a more interesting character, it also caused problems for his romance execution. BioWare simply didn't have the bandwidth in DA2 to address those problems.

I never said people complained about Liara, might want to reread my comment. And no, some people were angry about having to lose approval, but most commenters on the internet raged about a male character daring to assume their protagonist is gay. It was one of the main reasons I left the old BSN for a while, actually. The flirt icon was prominent, this is the first I'm hearing of straight gamers suddenly finding themselves in an Anders romance. Either way, the uproar comment was an aside, not justification for why they're not doing it anymore.

Making Reyes a squadmate would be amazing. It would please the straight women and the gay men. He's my top pick for romance though last PT I romanced 4 people. Lack of squadmate romance made me less interested in what I could have for a full romance.

Yes I would love if they made him a dlc squadmate (like Zaeed/Kasumi/Javik) that you could pick up after completing Kadara. With maybe an additional personal mission. Or at least an invite to movie night (which I skipped since I heard Sara is bugged post patch to not appear anyway).
