Reyes Vidal - No longer A Mystery (Official Thread)

Actually I was also thinking that I almost wouldn't want Reyes to be a DLC squadmate, since it means he'd be less likely to be one in MEA2 if they keep Ryder as a protagonist (and really, I'd only want him as a squadmate if Ryder is the protag). Which I hope they do - I liked  DA's approach to a new PC each game  - until DAI anyway - because I felt both the Warden and Hawke's story's were finished and having them be the hero of yet another huge Thedas conflict would've made them too big in that world. But Ryder's story is just getting started. I don't necessarily want a trilogy, but, a sequel where we get to see a lot of the loose ends through with Ryder would be awesome. I feel like there's too many for DLC alone to handle. The benefactor plot in particular - because at this point only Ryder actually knows anything about them.

Although I do think having Reyes as a temp squadmate could work even if he were to return in a sequel. I know a lot of people weren't fans of Nyreen in the Omega DLC, but, had she lived and there were another Shepard game, they could easily have added her as a permanent squadmate if they wanted. Though there is the potential issue for players who didn't play the DLC - but even in the trilogy ME3 proceeded as though you had played 'Arrival' or the Shadow Broker DLC, regardless of whether you actually had, so there is a precedent.

What would be cool is if they had Reyes play an important part in a DLC, though not necessarily as a squadmate. Much how he has a role in Kadara's plotline, where he's there to provide intel and jump in the occasional fight. And it could be a cool way for players who sided with Sloane to have a working relationship with him again, to pave the way for him as a future squaddie.

Like many players, I do get the feeling that regardless of who you choose, neither Reyes or Sloane will be in charge of Kadara later on, but either way you don't actually see him on that throne so it might not matter. But Reyes lives regardless. And, regardless, he still has a pretty big network and a finger in a lot of pies. And the means to acquire stuff (and information) other people can't. And I see him being the type willing work with someone despite whatever personal feelings he might have against them if he deems it necessary. So I could see a quest DLC where he approaches you with some info he 'stumbled' on and needs your help with, and he plays a role a bit like Liara does in the Shadow Broker DLC.
