Hey there! I register to tell you how badly I'm in love with that character. I mean I was planning to make a playthrough wih Jaal as canon romance, then boom, that little rascal showed up and winked. I kinda feel most of flirt dialogues in this game seems a little bit unnatural, make my fem Ryder sound like a child, but with Reyes it's completely different. I really wanted to continue romance Jaal but then, feeling how natural those dialogues sound and how much of tension there is between them, I just couldn't resist. And there goes my Jaal romance...

Agreed! The other characters flirting feel awkward at first cuz it makes your Ryder seem too forward. The flirt lines with Reyes are more indirect, like hey, you owe me that drink. With other characters it already feels like you're saying "we'll bang, okay?" on your first line.

Yeah, exactly! It was a way too forward, sometimes even a little bit creepy. It's always Ryder who brutally initiates the romance while in Reyes' case all was so... smooth. I wish there would be some more content with him in the future, because he's also interesting as a character, not only as romance. It's kind of guy it would be interesting to have in team, temporarily or not. They did really well.

So, is Reyes is one of them adorable male rogues, in Atton, Theron, Numen Brok's mold then? I have not met him yet, but the romance with Jaal is hard to get off the ground tbh, and I don't like Liam. Maybe I will wait to converse with the other to guys till I meet Reyes.

I think ultimately the best comparison for Reyes is Zevran, and not just because of the quasi-Spanish accent. He's funny and smooth, but quite cunning and calculating. So he isn't just a comical rogue character; there's something dangerous or almost ruthless about him.

IMO Reyes and Zevran are quite different actually! They give off the same vibe, being shady and Spanish and whatnot but that's about it. Reyes tries to be a smooth latin lover guy but he is a mess, lmao. Just think -- everyone on Kadara either hates him or doesn't think very high of him, his ex tries to kill him and doesn't seem to have any strong feelings about it (like, she's not even mad or jealous, she just thinks he's a piece of shit). ... Which is probably why he was so nervous about what Ryder is gonna think of him.
He is also HORRIBLY bad at hiding that he genuinely likes Ryder. He is quite smooth around them and plays hard to get etc but otherwise he is sooo bad that characters who have never met him in person notice that he likes them ("The Charlatan seems to have a soft spot for you, Pathfinder : )").
Also Zevran was honest and upfront with the Warden from the beginning while Reyes is phisycally uncapable of saying anything that is not evasive or vague.
... Hi, my name is Lera and I like over analysing videogames

Can I ask how exactly is it with Reyes and locking into a romance? I want to romance Jaal in my first playthrough, but Reyes looks hella fine... I don't mind spoilers, so can anybody tell me if I can flirt with Reyes without any strings? Or...? How does it work? Is there some "locking in" point? (I haven't met him yet, but planning to do Kadara as a next planet, so just mulling over my options, really) Thanks very much!

... Hi, my name is Lera and I like over analysing videogamesI definitely don't think Zevran and Reyes are perfect mirrors; I find them to be quite different, and the comparisons most people draw between them are superficial. What I think they have in common is that neither of them are the secretely-has-a-heart-of-gold rogue who is a criminal, but otherwise heroic. Where Zevran is unabashedly open about his skill as an assassin, and has few moral qualms over murder, Reyes (keeping this general because I'm on mobile and can't do a spoiler tag) is not above committing dishonorable deeds or being deceitful in order to get what he wants. What I don't get is when people call Reyes "the love child of Dorian and Zevran!" What?

What I don't get is when people call Reyes "the love child of Dorian and Zevran!" What? Maybe also in a superficial way? I know I myself thought of both when first meeting Reyes. Both have certain traits that Reyes has too, even though their characters differ from each other after all. But I'm also interested in more opinions on that.

Haha, it's amazing how quickly it's escalated, I just planned to be with my lovable pink octocat, doing some casual stuff and then that guy appears. Some random guy I would never suppose he's a romance option. Few minutes later I'm like: ok, you got me, bye Jaal. Maybe it's just a videogame but it's hilarious how much one character can affect our decisions, and he's even not part of the team. Like in a good book, the best characters often are those secondary ones. I think I won't even dare load previous save and go back to Jaal lol. l0iso, I like the way you interpret things: It's just obvious he can't tell you who he really is, considering all those experiences he had. I don't think he has any bad intentions, it's like he said, he's used to have secrets. He's smuggler and angaran contact after all, if he would be so honest his career wouldn't last for long. And it's sweet how he acts when Ryder is nearby. As for Zevran and Dorian thing, err... I adore Dorian, still hate Zevran, but child of those two? Hmmm Not very convincing. Zevran shares with Reyes that self-confidence, but I was feeling strange about how open Zevran was, even thought he's sort of a creeper. Reyes didn't seem like that, he's more encrypted maybe with that a little bit humorous and flirty attitude he's closer to Dorian but still, not that much. They clearly have some similarities but their attitude and what they've experienced differ. But those are details which people rather don't consider, it's just first impression thing.

When I met Reyes and I started flirting with him, my reaction after a couple of interactions was: "I'm breaking up with you, Liam!"
I was willing to settle with fewer cutscenes/interactions solely because the banter with Reyes was more fun; besides, I've always tended to go for the Han Solo-type scoundrels anyway. Alas, I accidentally locked things in with Liam at some point, so Reyes was a no-go. I suppose I should check on what all the lock-ins are so that it doesn't happen again if I do a new playthrough. I might run with Jaal next time and probably Reyes in the future.
To be fair to Liam, he's sweet, cute and really means well, but sometimes his scattershot speech gives me a headache.

Yeees, I locked in today (after testing out the dialogue options yesterday)! I am pretty sure I found a new addition to my favourite BW characters. Reyes is amazing. The whole romance in general is one of my favs in BW games I played. The icing on the cake are the e-mails he sends afterwards. Super sweet! Some spoilery lock-in pics: Btw, did anyone get Ryder drunk during Sloane's party? I love bartender Umi, so I tried it out once to drink multiple times. Her dialogue is hilarious and the scene afterwards got me laughing like an idiot! It's not something my Ryder would do, I only tested it for... science! In case anyone hasn't seen it yet.

I'm listed in the Codex as being in an exclusive relationship with Reyes. I'm also in a relationship with Gil and agreed to have a baby with him . I'm mucho confused right now, and kinda loving it. That is definitely a glitch in the romance flags, as I've mentioned before. In my game, I still had the option to lock in a romance w/ Peebee and Gil. I think what happened was that you progressed far along in both of their romances where at that point the exlusivity flag on Reyes didn't cancel out the scene where you're given the choice to lock in with them. In my game I told Peebee to remain friends and Gil that we should remain friends even after kissing which made it hilarious. But it was cool bc the codex recorded how me and Peebee's relationship had casual sex in it and Gil and I flirted but remained friends. And that i locked in a romance w/ Reyes, so my Ryder was kind of a hoe. I think in my next playthrough I'm just gonna not flirt w/ anyone else but Reyes because I don't want to break the game. At least until they fix the romance flags. I'm scared of the implications if i were to transfer that file to a sequel game down the line To be honest, going into the game I was fully intent on romancing Jaal and I was sad that he wasn't romancable by BroRyders so Gil was the only option and Reyes I had heard was just a meaningless fling. That was until i met him and his romance in my opinion was much more satisfying than Gil's and he was way more interesting even if they didn't get to have a sex scene like Gil did (Which even then was very toned down in comparison to Cora, Peebee, and Jaal's which were all almost pornographic). Still making out in a supply room at a party, and a cave, and dancing with Reyes at his place was very cute. I just wish there was more. My Scott's romance with Reyes made the Kadara arc my favorite planet and now i'm rushing to get to Kadara again. :')

It's funny thinking back, when I read about Reyes I assumed it was just some silly fling like the reporter, just there. Fast forward now and here we are, leaving characters mid flirting and jumping on Reyes instead lol.

Curious about something. If Sarah romances Reyes and someone else, does the game acknowledge it or treat each one like the other isn't happening?

So disappointed" but it turns out that his romance does matter! (at least to some extent). I really hope Bioware doesn't pulla Jacob or Thane on us :c
