Choose your top 15 favorite music genres.
(or lower if you can't choose 15) and discuss about them if you like.

I voted Trance/DJ because it´s the closest to Hardcore/-style. Trance and House is just too tame for me.

I voted but I think that my music is not just "pop" or "alternative" idk what I'd call all of it but it isn't easily encompassed by some of those categories. Either way music 247!

I'm so confused with all the genres. For me there's only two genres: the music I like and the music I don't like.
But mostly I listen to pop/rock/heavy. Oh, and I recently went to this concert to listen Anssi Tikanmäki Orkesteri, modern finnish composer. I cried, it was so good!

I really dislike post 2005 pop. The age of Shakira, Rihanna, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Miley Cirus, Justin Bieber and many other meh singers with unattractive music.
90s has some golden groups and singers like Ace of Base, Petshop boys and early works of Britney. I realized a patten... not only pop music degenerated after 2005, also Trance/DJ and Country. I really don't like many music released in the last 10 years, except some middle aged or old singers keeping their music quality.
But the oldies are the best pop music indeed.

Pop (post-2005) - specifically, Indie Pop which goes back a few decades (of which there is a lot to mention.) Some modern Indie pop artists I love are Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Rey, Lorde, Sia, London Grammar, Banks, Adele.
Alternative Rock and Funk (not so big on the other genres) - I would include Grunge-era bands and New Wave, and most other bands that are not really classifiable, including Indie Rock. Left of the dial was the way to go.
Rock/Hard Rock - Basically classic rock and hard rock. It starts to decline in quality after 1984, roughly (around the time David Lee Roth quit Van Halen)
Blues - Definitely something I'm getting into more, especially modern blues. Delbert McClinton is one guy who I've been tracking for years.
Jazz, both styles - I love the improv and spontaneity of it all, and the technical musicianship of the later stuff.
Electronic/Ambient/New Age - Some truly great stuff here. I've always liked the soothing, relaxing vibes of this sort style. Helps me focus well, and really get a grip
Military style music/marches - I'm not a huge fan of brass. There's only so much time you can actually spend in the military and not get tired of hearing it. I particularly like Roman style brass over a bugle or trumpet. Marching cadences are ok, but running cadences get you up and down mountains.
Symphonic music (baroque, classical, romantic, impressionist, etc.) - All stuff I cut my teeth on, along with Jazz when I first started playing music. All of it is skilled music for the ages, though I'm particularly fond of Franz Schubert, Igor Stravinsky, and Giacomo Puccinni. Thus, you could say I prefer Romantic-style
I love Traditional Native American, and Traditional Asian style music, as well as traditional Aboriginal Australian music. They're particularly amazing when combined together with an ambient track and some kind of nature music sound.
I love Punk, though I'm not a fan of Goth and Emo is just plain ridiculous IMO. Classic punk is the way to go.
Trance/DJ music - good Dance music that's awesome when I'm out clubbing or working out hard. Otherwise, I don't follow it.

I guess I have to put this one here too What I love about Anssi Tikanmäki, is that how he combines classical and modern instruments.

Yeah, I don't really love pop music, but I think the earlier pre-2005 styles are more unique. Call me a grumpy curmudgeon. (I voted Trance, Electronic/Ambient and Classical).

OP, some genre's you missed:
New Wave
Traditional Aboriginal Australian
Trap
Dance
Indie Rock
Indie Pop
Folk (American)
Gospel
Also, don't bunch up so many genre's together. Alt rock is loads and miles different from Soft-Rock. Same with bluegrass and country. Also, folk music is terribly under-represented.

Most of what I listen to day-to-day I'd guess falls under Alternative or Indie rock/pop? Some dream pop? Indie folk? Hipster douchebag? I have no idea how to categorise it.
When I need to focus, I turn to ambient stuff; lots of mellow post-rock and/or piano/cello instrumentals.
When I'm home along and cooking or cleaning, I go back to my roots: classic country. Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Crystal Gale, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash.... My parents always had country records on when I was a kid; brings back a lot of nostalgic feels.

Classic country is alright, though not my thing. I respect the artists', even if I don't really enjoy the music. Country is too, well, country for me.
The new stuff though? Modern country? It's absolutely terrible! It propagates what I call Country-culture, aka rural-Conservative-Christian (borderline fundamentalist) values that encourage a sort of anti-intellectual mindset.
I generally dislike Rap and Hip-Hop, though my feelings on them are slowly cooling down. It's not my thing by any means, but it's not as terrible as I always believed it was.
Country, Rap, and Hip-hop make-up roughly 80% of all music you hear in the military. The rest is some weird mix of classic rock, military brass, and mainstream pop.
