How long would you, guys, say the DA games take in terms of hours, maybe if possible compare to the length of the ME titles? I was wondering if I could comfortably fit a full run through all the three vanilla games between now and Andromeda? Or is it better to wait until after Andromeda because the campaigns are really long? And how hard is the game to learn and play? I remember it was clunky to move around and talk, but so was ME1, so if I can manage ME1, will DA games be fairly similar? Or do they have a high number of spells to memorize and rotations or something more like SWTOR?

In DAO and DA2 you have "unlimited" spell/skill bar, the spells have some cooldown, but the spellcasting only depend on your mana/focus and spells/skill number (at the beginning, you have onl 1-2 spells/skills, so, if they are on cooldown, you can shot only with your staff/basic attack). In Inquisition your spell/skill bar is limited, you can put in only 8 spells/skills. That's suck, in my opinion. You can make combos with spells and melee attacks/another spells. For example for example if anyone in the group frozen the enemy, you can to crush this enemy with a physical attack.

Is any of the Origins tongue-in-cheek and more likely to have funny and flirtatious dialogues, like Smuggler in SWTOR?

What I am trying to say, is any of the backgrounds you pick let you play a light-hearted character with the class story that is roguish and funny? Or are they all more on the serious and angsty side, or it makes no difference which background you pick?

I think, it's depend on your style, in Origin you can choose from varied responses, in DA2 you can be good/diplomatic, sarcastic/charming or agressive/direct, and in Inquisition you have similar options, but not same as DA2. I't possible to play any way you want. Perhaps Origin give you more rp possiblity, despite my favorite is DA2. Almost forget: how long this games: DAO and DAA: ~60-80 hours DA2 and Legacy ~35-40 DAI: ~100-150

Oh, wow, they are that long, ouch.... Or perhaps I'm too slow. (DA2 just a bit longer than ME3.) I think (despite the long play time) worth a try.

Origins is always 44 and a half hours for me. Odd but true. DA2 is 40-45 with the DLCs, and my Inquisition runs have been 100 hours. Bear in mind that I only do half the zones in Inquisition per playthrough, so if you were gonna do all of them it'd be more like 150. And yes, lots of lighthearted humour and fun characters. Zevran the elven assassin is very funny, keep him around in DAO. Any Origin can create a funny character, you roleplay and play them as you like. Each one has a miserable beginning but you can turn them round any way you like, for example my Dalish elf couldn't wait to leave the clan so she was super funny and happy all the time. You might be better off playing Origins twice, in two very different ways, before Andromeda comes out. Then take those world to DA2 later on when you need a break from MEA. EDIT - Origins was hard to learn for me, so I play on Casual because f*** it I can't be bothered. DA2 is a breeze, so much fun, and DAI is okay. If you're used to older RPGs then DAO should be familiar to you.

I don't want to do any DLCs or mods, just vanilla out-of-the-box content. I don't remember actually fighting anything in DA:O, but it must have been 3 years or so by now since I've tried it, I just vaguely remember it feeling very awkward. I now clued in that taking off the artistic film grain and setting up the resolution manually (duh) might help with the graphics based on the ME experience, so maybe at least I can get some light/brightness into the game. Maybe I will just go into it with an aim to only do the Origin, and then take a break from SP until Andromeda so I don' burn out.

I don't really want to buy the DLCs, I am sure the vanilla game is understandable, and with this sort of play-hours, the lack of content is not a concern at all. If anything I am afraid to be overwhelmed by the content.

It's important to get Legacy dlc for DA2, it has a lot to do with the story of DAI.

Looks like I have Awakening, according to the Origin store. I dunno, I will have to see what I have on my machine at home. Now I am curious. It's been some time since I've bought whatever I bought.

If you have the ultimate edition of DAO you have all the dlcs including Awakening. My last PT of DAO was 120 hrs excluding DAA and Witch hunt. But I tend to do everything and play on hard or nightmare. My DAI PTs are even longer with Charria Cadash topping at 300 hrs, that's on nightmare most of the time and with trials, and all the DLCs. It can be done much quicker of course.

Thank you for responding! 250 hours scares the living day.ight out of me, I'll think about it. I am just not used to campaigns that long. I'd say a full PT of DAO is about 60 hrs. There is: DAO base game + a few mission DLCs from Ultimate Edition (including extra NPC Shale) DA Awakening - expansion that takes place after the end of DAO. Can import your character. This is about 15-20 hrs. Golems of Amgarrak - dungeon crawl, not necessary for story though the end boss does kinda show up again later on. Witch Hunt - really only necessary if romancing Morrigan in DAO. Otherwise, completely optional and/or irrelevant. DA2 - this one is probably 35-40 hrs, maybe 50 at most with DLC. It's not as easy to miss stuff since some quests are locked out until X happens. Compared to the other two games, it is fairly structured. Limited to human character, 2 genders x 3 classes. DAI - this one's a monster. My PTs are usually about 150+ hrs. It takes me about 5-6 wks to finish the game with all DLCs; probably 4 wks for just the base game. Obviously if you skip certain areas it will take less time than that. 4 races x 2 genders, + 3 classes for each (except dwarf which only has 2) There is lots of lore to digest so if you are interested in the universe, I would suggest not rushing. Like suggested above, maybe playing through DAO a couple of times would be a better option than trying to hurry through all 3 games. In DAO there are 7 different origins x 2 genders, so a lot of different Wardens are possible.

I think I only have Origins, the ultimate edition. So if I like it, I can buy into more of the franchise. My last save is dated from September 2014, heh. So, I guess I've bought it and tried it right before the Inquisition came out, and went back to SWTOR.

For me, DAO - about 40 hours with dlc not DAA DAA - about 12 hours DA2 - I've completed the game in about 9 hours doing only what I needed to move the story forward. On average, about 20 hours. About 25 hours with dlc DAI - I've completed the game, on my ps3, in 10 hours. Hard to say how long for me since I have different times for each playthrough. No idea how long if dlc are included.
I can say one thing. You get your money's worth with the DA games especially if doing multiple playthroughs
