Sadly, as I know, this is not modifiable. Carver and Bethany also miss. Simple solution. Have the mods lock the thread and then make a new one with those three included in the poll.

I kind of want to smack Anders every time he talks, but I'm inhabiting Hawke's character and he's a magnanimous sort of fellow, so I refrain.

I probably would have voted Merril if forced to choose (girl learn some common sense omigawd), but since I wasn't... I love 'em all. Including Sebastian and Aveline, because I am a huge square, I guess.

Anders is a rat turd. He is a brilliantly written character, but still a rat turd.

Sebastian...I cannot frickin' stand Sebastian. I regret getting his DLC, but I do get a chuckle out of his banter with Anders and Isabella.

After she betrayed me and ran off with the book as Kirkwall and Hawke took the punishment from the Qunari for the last six times I played the game, I was very much inclined to vote for Isabella.... then I saw Sebastian's name and I didn't resent her as much.

Aveline. She has good moments, but some of her dialogue and banter bores the heck out of me and I find her incompetence in wooing Donnic more tiresome than adorable. Though I love flirting with her with my poor canon Hawke... her wonky relationship with Hawke is really the reason that I do like her, but just not as much as other companions. Even Isabela, who's kinda one-note at times, is above Aveline because of her interesting background and history with the Qunari.

I initially thought I really kinda liked everyone, and love/hate/love Anders. Then I realize I sort of despise Sebastian. I about 25% love him, and 75% despise him. He's pretty hypocritical, dogmatic, and self-deluded. He's not a bad person, but... he's so religious, and not in the healthy way like I would say someone like Cassandra is (she who can see past a gruff, flashy exterior to call a hard-drinking, hard-joking person 'virtuous' and who is not averse to sexy romantic things.) Sebastian frustrates me.
It's also a big minus that you can't bang him for seven years, and never onscreen. How dare you be a handsome red-haired prince with a sexy Scottish accent that no one can seduce? Seducing a priest and/or a redhead has been my lifelong DREAM, and then a combination of the two is dangled in front of me, but to no avail. What do you think this is, Sebastian, NOT a video game?! Be seduce-able, damn you!
Okay, some facetiousness in there, but he really does bug me because you can't really call him on his BS. None of the companions really do, IIRC, either. Or maybe I just need to get him and Isabela in the same party?

Well, Sebastian's DLC was not included with my game copy, so the only companion I did not recruit after seeing their introduction was Isabela. I am not big on that Hot Bitch archetype, so unless the game makes me, I am going skip her content.

No. i really appreciate it when a game does not force companions on me, so I always gratefully say: No, thank you and play with the characters that do not annoy me on the first sight. I would have loved to see Sebastian's content to judge for myself, but I do not have his DLC. It costs more than the game itself, so what's the point.

I am not big on that Hot Bitch archetype, so unless the game makes me, I am going skip her content. You can totally skip her content (and mods can change her outfit and appearance--I like one which makes her facial features more like her DAO counterpart while keeping the DA2 skin tone, myself.) Just don't talk to her when you see her in the Hanged Man. I was planning to do that this time, myself, though I ended up talking to her again and remembering why I liked her. I wouldn't call her "Hot Bitch"--she's really more of a Han Solo type of character at heart, far more moral than she wants to admit. Also, she reminds me of me, because she says ridiculous juvenile stuff like this. Isabela: So, how good is (spoiler)? Is he cocksure? Aveline: (Sighs) Just... get it out of your system. Isabela: Did he curl your toes? (Isabela will say four of the following at random:)
Isabela: Dwarf your beard? Isabela: Arl your Eamon? Isabela: Shank your Jory? Isabela: Praise your Maker? Isabela: Grope your grinder? Isabela: Establish his canon? Isabela: Kaddis your Katie? Isabela: Dampen your Divine? Isabela: Pamper your Paragon? Isabela: Grey your Warden? Isabela: Pudding your peach? Isabela: Float your frigate? Isabela: Explore your Deep Roads? (The fifth will always be one of the following)
Isabela: How about "satisfy a demand of your Qun." Isabela: Or did he Cup your Joining? Isabela: Or master your taint? That's an old one. Aveline: Yes, all right? He is an incredibly proficient lover. Happy? Isabela: Well that's rather personal, don't you think?

Yes, that's what I did, I simply did not talk to her after her intro, and she is not in the game after that. Very simple.

Yes, that's what I did, I simply did not talk to her after her intro, and she is not in the game after that. Very simple. Isabela is one of those characters who's more complex than she initially appears, not that her initial intro really makes it all that apparent. She also has a lot of plot relevance in Act 2, so not recruiting her character does mean you may lack context for why certain events have happened. Despite being a pirate, she develops a "big sister" relationship almost immediately with Merrill, has a friendly rivalry with Aveline that evolves throughout the game and as stated above, she's far less selfish and immoral than she pretends to be. I'd say recruit her if only the once, just to test the waters and see if she's your cup of tea? (Or you can always save time by watching it on Youtube)

I like them all. Anders can get under my skin, his whole world view is shaped by templars/mages and that's it.That's how he'll judge everyone, every possible situation etc..So he is annoying. But he cured refugees , saved Carver from death, I like his relationship with Varric, and he really has a tragic arc in DA2.There's something really pathetic and tragic about him so I can't hate him.
I like Sebastian. The battle cries with his accent are hilarious. He also seems to be living in his weird bubble. He's more "out there" than Merrill. I'll always remember one banter he has with her , Merrill tell him his armor is really shiny , and it's good because they are in a dark cave and Seb goes "I did swore to bring the light of Maker everywhere I go. Elthina would be so proud." And you can hear him being happy about that... I can't help but imagine Varric and Hawke looking at each other and facepalming. So I like Seb because I can't take him seriously and as a result he's comical.

I don't need a second look, I know she is not my cup of tea, it's not the first Bio game I am playing, heh.

But he cured refugees , saved Carver from death, I like his relationship with Varric, and he really has a tragic arc in DA2.There's something really pathetic and tragic about him so I can't hate him. Anders did spend most of his life locked up in a Circle, so Mages/Templars were all he really knew before he joined the Wardens. He wasn't really like this much in Awakening, caring little for mage freedom (beyond his own) and admitting that "a pretty girl, a decent meal, and the right to shoot lightning at fools" were pretty much the extent of his ambitions in life. Justice didn't have much experience with the world either in Awakening. After merging with Anders, all Justice could only really draw upon for context was the very limited perspective that Anders had growing up in the Circle. This is probably why Mages/Templars ended up becoming their mutual obsession, with Anders' hidden resentment amplified by Justice and Justice being in turn influenced by Anders' own biases. If someone like Velanna had become the host of Justice instead (an idea that was tossed around by the devs), it's likely that Justice would have become focussed on trying to creating a new homeland for the Elves. In turn, Velanna may have had her negativity amplified (even more than usual) by Justice towards humans for taking their homeland, as well as City Elves for abandoning their ways.

... I love Isabella for her sex positivity and career goals; the way she thrives on freedom is refreshing to watch. What? I just finished act2 again and wow, do I have a hatred against her. She wanders about, talks about and has sex with everyone and everything everywhere, catches diseases doing so. As a rogue she is the fifth wheel on the wagon with Varric being the second main character and I always bring him. Being extreme selfish, treating suiters (this is what she is all about anyway) with disrespect. I really wonder what is there to like about her? That she is a pirate or can hold her liquor? She is probably a companion for non-natural evil protagonists in just for fun playthroughs.
