DA2 companions and Hawke is my favorites, but personally I hate the "Game", I prefer more direct solutions. I don't like Val Royeaux: too fancy. Kirkwall is much nicer: monumental, but cleaner design. I would have preferred a non-European city tbh, but that's all we have, so... What style? Probably, If we go out of Southern Thedas, we will get some new style (I like European style, I'm European, but would be interesting to see some different).

A quick rundown on what my even mage, Iona (the one I tried to make "pixie-like"), has been up to. After defeating the warring mages and templars and routing some "bandits" who were secretly protecting a red lyrium smuggling operation, she went to Redcliffe to recruit the mages. As a mage herself, the mages seemed like logical allies in closing the breach. It was unclear to Iona what, exactly, Templars could do in this situation. To get the mages, however, she had to defeat a plot against her by Tevinter extremists known as the Venatori. In defeating the Venatori at Redcliffe, she found out that the villain behind the conclave explosion was a mysterious figure known as the "Elder One" by Venatori. She also gained insights into the dreadful future that would come if he succeeded.
Iona also went to the Storm Coast where she defeated the leader of a group known as the Blades of Hessarian which was guilty of murdering some Inquistion Scouts. She also went to the Fallow Mire and rescued Inquisition soldiers that had been captured by hostile Avvar. With the help of Fiona's mages, Iona sealed the Breach. Celebrations following this grand accomplishment were short-lived, however, when the Elder One - Corypheus - revealed himself, along with a hostile army of Templars infected by Red Lyrium. After a desperate, but futile defense, Iona facilitated a successful retreat of Inquisition forces while killing many Red Templars in the process by intentionally bringing a massive avalanche down on Haven.
After successfully rejoining Inquisition forces, Iona, at the urging of Solas, leads them all to an ancient abandoned fortress - Skyhold.
Gamer Notes: I'm following the general sequence for DAI that Nightscrawl laid out. After a previous discussion about romance options earlier in this thread, I opted to have Iona romance Cullen since my previous Elven mages had done the Solasmance. I felt I kind of owed Cullen after the way my elven mage Warden had tormented him with flirting in the Circle Origin. (It's a pity he has no memory of this in DAI!)
Since arriving at Skyhold, Iona and companions have gone to the Exalted Plains where the opposing armies of the Orlesian Civil War were themselves being besieged by demons. Iona and companions defeat the Demons and the rebel Freemen of the Dales who drew the demons through a weak veil. They also uncover possible links between the Freeman and the Red Templars.
Varric facilitates a meeting between Iona and Hawke, the Champion of Kirkwall. Hawke reveals some information about the Grey Wardens, who have been mysteriously missing since just before the conclave. Hawke has a friend in the Wardens named Stroud who has more information about what's going on. They agree to meet in the village of Crestwood.
Iona then goes to Crestwood and find numerous obstacles she must contend with before meeting with Stroud. The area is under seige from undead, people who had been killed when half of the area was flooded during the Blight. Now with a massive rift within the lake itself, demons are possessing dead bodies and tormenting the inhabitants of Crestwood. After clearing the local keep of bandits, they are finally able to reach the dam controls and unflood the area. Iona then closes the lake breach and is finally able to reach Hawke and Stroud. Stroud reveals that Corypheus has been creating a false Calling among the Wardens and that the Warden Commander, Clarel, has been manipulated into accepting a bizarre scheme to kill the Old Gods through blood magic. Stroud informs them that the Wardens are massing in the Western Approach. Iona agrees to meet them in the Western Approach.
So far, the Cullen romance seems to be well done and kind of reminds me of the Solasmance. It should be interesting to see how this plays out in Trespasser.

Well I ran through Here Lies the Abyss with Varrys and co. First time I had taken Cole through the fade and so had never experienced Cole freaking out before. I even had Varrys defended him against Vivienne when she told him he "better control his pet". Vivienne has been brought through the fade in many playthroughs, and I feel like I got more dialogue out of her than usual as well. Cassandra remained mostly silent - until reaching the "Devine" of course. I left Loghain behind because I wanted a playthrough where Tommy Hawke lives. I'm extra sad because next playthrough waiting in the wings will have Stroud (aka Dead Warden Walking) so I'm not going to see Loghain for a while *le tear* Varrys then kicked the Wardens out, because all three companions wanted it. Blackwall then appeared out of nowhere asking if he could stay. Varrys agreed because he had been ignoring him this whole time anyway so what's the difference. *shrugs*

I would have preferred a non-European city tbh, but that's all we have, so... So far, in DA, there have been many countries, cities mentioned that really haven't been visited yet, so you never know what might emerge that corresponds to Asia. (If nothing else, it would give us access to some interesting armors!)

I'm catching up on DA reading. Two books I didn't read yet are Last Flight and The Calling. They were sitting on my bookshelf for months and I didn't get around to them until now... Gaming wise, I still have Trespasser to complete with Alex. We'll see what final choices she'll make.

I and my party have entered the Fallow Mire. Earlier we were gathering Blue Vitriol and Summer Stone whilst lightening intermitently slammed down enormous strikes upon the world.
There are undead here. This is bleak land.
We have been clearing out the marshes encountering stragglers and then battling more fierce contingents by the tall stones lit by veilfire.
This place is nothing like the Hinterlands and far less so Val Royeaux.
I have Cassandra, Solas and Sera alongside. We are all level 7. Cassandra now wears the best piece of heavy armour compatible with her level. My mage has just invested points in Spirit granting defensive capabilities. We are growing more dextrous and able. So far we have handled every conflict without loss. The group of soldiers held hostage that we have come to rescue is still somewhere out ahead of us. We haven't found them yet.
An unstable fool named Widris stalks this place. I hope we encounter him.
1 of 2 Rifts have been neutralized.
We press on.

Finished Descent. Killed the guardian without breaking a sweat which goes to show that I had been building up the greatsword warrior the wrong way. For the S&S warrior, it's pretty much wild swinging every time a mob descended on the party. I put Solas on static cage and pull of the abyss with fire mine so all I had to watch out for were those crossbow mobs and grappled them in. The Inq is on horn of valor, Cass is doing that's the spirit. Between us, along with Solas's protective spells, the party barriers held strong while the mobs' broke. I also feel like I'm chalking up Sera's bad stuff. Recently learned she took people's personal items without asking when Cass questioned her about her missing books. P.S. Terrific fight with the hakkonites. Harofsen was porting all over the place so there was no keeping him in one spot nor could I maintain Solas's barriers when additional mobs ported in. I concentrated on the boss since that's the only way to get rid of the continuous spawning mobs. The ones using up all the healing potions were Solas and Sera. Harofsen's body glitched out and remained standing there. The handy work was Cass's, not mine. I froze the Inq there to take a snapshot. For Hakkon, I didn't bother chasing it when it flew off during the fight. I wanted to see if it would remain stationery. It didn't, it came to us, unlike the other dragons.

Finished Trespasser and remembered why I love Dragon Age, BioWare, and RPGs in general. The final ride was sooooooooo emotional. Damn you Solas, you glorious fictional character! And damn you, soundtrack composer, for making such a hauntingly beautiful Solas theme! That was a masterpiece of an ending.

Fallow Mire, rescued those worthless soldiers who got captured by those lowly barbarians. Next time they should fall on their swords. Fallow mire is cloudy, cold, wet, humid and it stinks of ass.

Had a bit of a marathon. Had a bit of a glitch with Solas too because while the party was at EG, the effect of horn of valor suddenly refused to work on him. So he ended up being the most vulnerable. This glitch carried on well into Adamant and most of the Fade. At the last fight, the glitch was probably scared off by the big bad demon because Solas received the HoV benefit again. I also noticed a funny effect of Solas's Pull of the Abyss. The mobs were hilariously doing a sort of cartoony treadmill as they were dragged into the center of the spell. It's like whac-a-mole when Cass and Inq swiped them all with payback strike and they went down like ninepins, flailing helplessly.

I would have preferred a non-European city tbh, but that's all we have, so... What style? Probably, If we go out of Southern Thedas, we will get some new style (I like European style, I'm European, but would be interesting to see some different). Anything other than European, really. Mezoamericas, NEA, SEA, Arabia, Africa, Mediterranean, Egypt, totally fantastical, I am game for anything different. They did a fantastic job with Jade Empire, so I keep hoping they'd move on eventually to the other shores.

well now, i only have Arbor Wild, Corypheus and Trespasser till MEA . I better go kill some Dragons and kill time with small quests. that or i reset all my ME3MP char to level 1 .. because that's what it'll feel like in a month.

CatilinaLooking at those pictures. I remember Morrigan's voice when she called out "Wait!" I love her so much as a mother character. "I will not be the mother you were to me!" And then the Quiz glows blue EVERY time even when they don't drink from the well. makes me think the writers meant for the Quiz to drink from the well.

-snip- And then the Quiz glows blue EVERY time even when they don't drink from the well. makes me think the writers meant for the Quiz to drink from the well. Not every time. Sometimes it's Varric that glows. But only when you leave him behind. Have also had Dorian get a bit blue over the events. He was not left behind, but he was travelling with Mytjan, so it was understandable. Could have sworn I got Morrigan blue once, but can't find any screenshots, so I'm probably remembering wrong. I think the effect was just glitch-y in general.

I had thought it was due to the anchor, that the will of the previous Keepers recognised it. So this is a glitchy efffect? How disappointing.

I had thought it was due to the anchor, that the will of the previous Keepers recognised it. So this is a glitchy efffect? How disappointing. ? A bit confused. My jest was that in my game, it was Varric who started glowing (and got stuck in the wall), not the Inquisitor. So the Inquisitor doesn't glow every time just most of the time. I've also had Dorian go into blue glow mode and I was sure Morrigan was the one who got the glow effect in one game (but I'm probably remembering that one wrong). So the glitch is not that someone glows blue (pretty sure that is supposed to happen), but that the game sometimes picks the wrong person. I always figured the drinker should glow blue, since they had the knowledge from the well, thus had the key to the Eluvian. But it might be your explanation instead, I don't think there is any definitive answer yet. The main reason I posted was just that I had a picture of someone else glowing blue and in a funny position.

The general gist I got from your post up there is that the effect appears on anybody in the party. Thanks for the explanation. On an additional note, the being / Keeper / Mythal that rose to face Cory glow too and vanished into the eluvian. This makes me think that a link has been made between the Inq and whatever it is. Another mystery that I want answered in DA4 and why I want the Inq to return. The Inq has to return to finish up the loose ends. Some people think the Inq is done, they want a new protag and dismiss DAI as the completed story of the Inq. The lose of a forearm is often cited as the reason the Inq cannot take up the main role. I'd like the devs to do something different, take up the challenge to show that the loss does not diminish the Inq's responsibility to deal with the forthcoming chaos that she had unknowingly helped to develop and her ability to fight.

We've finally picked a new monitor, getting a 35" extra-wife, curved, and the game looks wonderful on it! Interestingly enough, it supports the resolution even if it predates the ME3, that does not.
Since the monitor has a 7 day return policy, and I did my very best to test it out, so I ran through the Act 2 yesterday and today, clocking at 22 hours into the game. Lots of impressions.
Loved the subplot with Luanda Hawke, and Aveline's courtship subquest the most.
First of all, I have managed to get on Fenris good side, yay me! To my surprise, he showed up in Revel's mansion despite Anders asking for an invitation. Then he reconsidered, so Revel have done exactly the same thing as my Warden in the first Dragon Age, seamlessly moving on to Anders. To be honest, it felt like in Fenris dialogues we've missed a couple of talks, going straight from a dramatic confession/angst act to slamming Revel against the wall in a passionate embrace to breaking up in a space of two dialogues. Anders is really happy to be in a relationship with Revel, even though his dialogues about never daring to have attachments because it would give Templars an edge, make no sense, give Karl, and him trying to feed the cats even in Darktown. I like how it turned out, looks good for my protagonist.
I also tried to play a little with Merrill and Aveline instead of Varrick and Fenris, but
The showdown with Arishok, Meredith and Orsini was great. I was a bit puzzled by fighting a Qunary called Sten about five times, but I assume it was not Sten from the first game, it's likely just a title. I am sad to see the subplot wrap up, talking to Quinari was uber-fun.

We've finally picked a new monitor, getting a 35" extra-wide, curved, and the game looks wonderful on it! Interestingly enough, it supports the resolution even if it predates the ME3, that does not. Uhg, you just reminded me of my own monitor problems. I had a very very nice $600 1440p monitor that was amazing... until it broke. Now I am using this crappy 1080p Samsung TV that is shit compared to my monitor.
