Had a lot of trouble today messing around with the Mark of the Assassin DLC. Didn't know which was the ideal companion to bring along (unlike "Legacy", which was a far easier choice; Anders, Varric, and Carver), so I just brought along Varric and the love interest, Fenris. But then again, Aveline and Isabela had the most exclusive dialogue. And yet, I wanted the opportunity to flirt with Tallis in front of Fenris just to tease him. Well, until Tallis pissed Hawke off with her betrayal anyway and she went for the "I should kill you right now" dialogue option instead of the flirt option, possibly ruining that chance for that kiss at the end anyway. But I digress. What I really wanted to say was, I messed around with the DLC by inserting additional companions into the mix - all of the companions, to be specific. You can do that without a mod by running the debug. It allows me to do Aveline and Isabela's quest, along with every other companion's special quest. The problem is, I felt it might have screwed up whatever ambient dialogue Varric and Fenris would've had. So, I had to restart from an earlier checkpoint again, with much remorse that I'll probably have to replay MotA if I ever want to do Ave/Isa's quests the right way. Oh well. Edit: I think I missed out on a lot of Fenris' romance dialogue because Varric's override his. Ugh. lol

Made a new Hawke today. A mage named Jyoti. She is a bit on the wild side and she will have problems with Anders and Merrill, because she is of the opinion that people like those two give mages their bad reputation (getting possessed and becoming an abomination and fiddling with blood magic). My Hawkes noramlly try to come up with some excuses for both Anders and Merrill and always end up helping them. I have played Hawkes who rivaled Fenris, gave Isabella to the Arishok, let Varric keep the idol, not getting Aveline and Donnic together and always denied Sebastian revenge. It is time, that Anders and Merrill get some hard times too. I might even try to send Anders away in act 2. In that case, my Hawke doesn't have to be totally clueless when she helps him finding his ingredients for the bomb. Apart from her zero tolerancy for the idiocy ofsome fellow mages, she is pro mage, easy going and more the funny type. This is Jyoti

Tried bringing Varric along with Isabela and Seb on the quest, "Faith" because I read that Varric has additional dialogue when meeting Leliana, but I've once again encountered that bug where, after Varric makes his remark, there's a few seconds of the camera moving to an empty space for some reason. After doing some digging, it seems that after Varric asked if there's anyone in Ferelden Isabela hasn't slept with, Merrill was supposed to chime in with her own remark as well. The problem with this is that you can't bring Merrill, Isabela, and Varric along in the same quest because Seb's a compulsory companion, meaning that you only have two companion slots for Isabela and Varric, or Isabela and Merrill, not all three. The game must have had an error reading this and forced Merrill to talk even when she's not there, resulting in an invisible person not saying anything at all, an empty screen of awkwardness (I wouldn't have minded if Merrill was invisible, but the audio/dialogue is still there, but it wasn't).
Anyway, if you ever do this quest and want the humorous dialogue, probably best to just bring along Merrill instead of Varric. It's funnier that way anyway.

Finishing up on "Faith". Talking to the ever stubborn Grand Cleric Elthina was... frustrating, especially if you know what fate lies for her beforehand. Dammit, Anders. Aside from your companions, she's probably the one voice of reason that truly mattered (Orsino is too biased IMO, unlike the more neutral Elthina). "Maker no" indeed. Edit: Hawke: "So I shouldn't slit my wrists and dance naked under the moonlight just to fit in?" Anders: "I would pay to see that." WHOA HO WHAT? Anders has grown some backbone. Of course, when I looked up the reason he made such a bold assertion later on, it seems that he would only say that if he's a love interest (or I guess, an ex-love interest in this case). Jesus, Anders. Hawke only flirted with you ONCE. lol

Kidnapping Carver was a mistake. Hawke told Cullen to "kill all of them" out of anger. It was inevitable, even for a sarcastic Hawke like mine.
Of course, this provides a better roleplaying experience, as it gives Anders (present in my party when Hawke gave the advice to kill the mages) even more justified of an excuse to do what he does later on, especially when Hawke didn't agree to support his "revolution" earlier at the end of the "Justice" quest. He would probably understand why Hawke gave that order, having lost her mother already, but I think it would still convince him even more that the "revolution" must be carried out to save all mages.
But man, this is really leading Maximus Hawke down a really grim and bitter path. Let's sum things up a little: - Made insecure by her anti-mage brother whose influence made her kinda curse her own existence as a mage, not to mention feeling betrayed when he joined the Templars - Played around with blood magic just for fun, but ended up regretting it when she made that deal with Torpor and seeing the innocents other blood mages have hurt - Lost her mum to blood magic - And of course, advising Cullen to kill the mages at the heat of the moment, something she will definitely regret when she cools down later (seriously, why the heck would Cullen ask for the advice of a mage, even if she's the Champion, let alone obediently carrying it out as if she ordered him?).
I feel kinda like a monster putting Max through all these. :heh: At the same time though, I find appeal in characters with the weight of the world on their shoulders (I romanced Fenris, after all). Regardless, this will definitely make Hawke's rant about blood magic in Inquisition very, very justified now. Sigh. Poor Hawke. :ulikeit:

Its too bad Hawke doesn't say anything if Isabela is Hawke's LI.

Forgot how Anders actually died in DA2. F***. Can't kill Anders now. There's no way Hawke would backstab him like that, a fellow mage and a good friend too... even if he's pretty much Osama/Al-Qaeda.

I'm not sure what message BW was trying to send here; Anders betrays your trust and possibly implicates your Hawke in a terrorist attack, thus, figuratively stabbing Hawke in the back and the only way you can execute him for his crimes is to literally stab him in the back? Really?

I didn't want that to happen

I have one state where Anders live, just in case BW does something with him in a future game (I highly doubt that, though). But for the rest, Anders must die. Kirkwall is already f*** to let Sebastian attack it out of spite. In other stuff, I'm going to play an "Alistair vs. Hawke" DAI playtrough lol

And so it comes to an end. I've bought the GotY edition of Inquisition and it's now installing. Wonder what the new adventure will bring. Think I'll try not to go too crazy with the mods this time. Some of them kinda ruined affected my experience (the whole "not being able to redesign my Hawke's face" problem comes to mind). Poor Meredith. I sided with the mages, but still, her death was ghastly. What a bad way to go. I blame it on the idol. Also, I felt like Hawke needed a stronger reaction when Meredith pulled out that lyrium sword. Like, "Are you f-ing insane?! Get away from that thing now!" Meredith's fight was also incredibly easy compared to what's come before in the DLCs (*cough*Legacy*cough). I probably would still not play on Nightmare though.

Hazel Trevelyan, DW rogue:
Attended a meeting in Orlais with Josephine and "Comte Boisvert" to try and help sort out the problems with her family's merchant business, only to find out the trouble is a result of a 100 year old assassination contract on her family. Decided to back Josie's plan to reinstate the rival family as nobles and have them annul the contract.
Then went to the Emerald Graves and met with Fairbanks. Tracked down and defeated Sister Cousteau and freed the civilians she was holding captive.
Did a bit of multiplayer as well, with characters I haven't played much (Avvar and Elementalist).

Trying to get Dorian and Iron Bull to hook up. Many playthroughs, never actually got it to happen. Didn't help that once I finally did some research on exactly how the banter works (what pauses/resets the timer, etc.) I realized I had wasted a bunch of time, and this shit takes forever as it is.

Just a weird feeling I'm having. When MEA was in the works, the Old DA Guard stood sentry faithfully over a quiet forum while the action went on at the ME forum. Now that MEA is out and over, the ODAG stand down when threads start popping up all over here.

That's how I view Anders's character; always facing away.

The one that makes all Wartable missions complete instantly, and the one that allows you to unlock whatever perk you want without doing prerequisites. Oh, insta-loot as well. I also pick mods basically for all male companions appearances, 'cause they are less terribly looking that way. But all mods better uninstalled before starting Trespasser. Darn things crashes (sigh). As for me, I fought my way through to the end of Act 2 and did all the talky missions in the beginning of Act 3. Bad: I did not got enough rivalry to Isabela to come back for me to hand her over to Arishok. Well, Ebon shall do it, after sweettalking her into friendship then. Good: I was surprised when Fenris did come to talk to Hawke about Leandra's death. I can't recall if Anders did. Figure 1. Hawke's family tragedy. Surprisingly, Gamlen is actually more of a comfort than Fenris. Yeah, Fenris romance worked out fine, he's now committed to Blaze and yada-yada-yada. Meh. On the other hand... Figure 2. Oh, that's who Stroud is? And, wow, Carver, you look glorious and talk tough. Now I am facing the same dilemma as described in few posts above: 2H Brother or Lover for Legacy? Oh, I've actually been able to flirt with Sebastian anyway, but his responses remind me Quinn's so much, I just want to leave the man to his chosen carrier. F!Hawke comes across as something on the verge of inappropriate in the scenes. Is that the same if you have never flirted with anyone else or chose to push him to be the Prince rather than the Priest? Or does Sebastian always do a tactfully polite: "Maker, is she dense or what? How should I put it to not offend her, but to get her to figure it out?!" Figure 3. Oh, Maker, what part of "I took a vow of chastity" you did not get, Hawke? And, finally, by whatever reason I did not commit to either Orsino or Meredith in the beginning of Act 3. They are both not my favorite people. And I am still heart-broken over Anders. But Sebastian is actually that counterpoint to Anders I missed in my first game, so that's pretty neat. Seb also interjects a fair bit, so he is certainly my rogue pick. So, yep, I guess, Act 3 then. Looking forward to seeing the last part of the Sebastian quest, apparently, there is Leliana in it. Why the heck they made it into DLC, who knows...

So how does the banter work. I could use some tips
