I finished Trespasser with my new favourite Cullen-romancing Inquisitor yesterday. So after 7 years of playing DAI, I decided I was going to romance Solas for the first time. I mentally prepared myself for heartbreak and started playing. And then Cullen was like 'Forgive me, I doubt you came here for a lecture...'

I will finish Golems of Amgarrak today, finished The Darkspawn Chronicles last week for the first time.
I had never done all the DLC for DAO, somehow managed to miss Soldier's Peak this playthrough, which appears to be a known issue that can happen. Oh well.
Decided to do another mostly completionist (not DAI collections, I'm not that much of a masochist) run of the series to refresh myself on lore concerning a couple characters (Morrigan, Flemeth, Andraste) and Dwarven lore.
Found lots of UI issues with DAO, particularly crafting with party members was broken for Wynne which really kinda sucked, but HoF decided to be a damage dealing Arcane Warrior Blood Mage this go, and didn't really need Wynne (even if the rest of the party did lol).
Golems will be short as I am playing on casual, just seeing content and learning what I can from the game, so my mind is already turning to Hawke.
She will be a she this time, have mostly RP'd male Hawke previously. I am feeling dual wield Rogue, played enough mage runs and Rogue is a lot of fun gameplay. Not sure who to romance tbh. As a female in video games I am usually quite casual until I meet someone I dig, and if that doesn't come up I remain casual and firmly non-committal.

She usually fits that non-committal role pretty well. In one of my playthroughs my Hawke had a one night stand with Isabela but romanced somebody else.

Having usually romanced Isabela as a male Hawke (because I am a very simple man in some regards lol), I may one-night stand her, but since we will have the same combat role I may diss her completely. Not sure really, but it is a good idea to at least have a fling

Not sure really, but it is a good idea to at least have a fling This is always my dilemma when playing DA2. DD rogue is easily the most fun class - for me - to play. But Isabela is easily the best romance (companion, actually, but whatever) so I either have to have a less interesting In combat Hawke, or have an oddly unbalanced team (since not romancing Izzy is obviously not a realistic option).

What's wrong with 2 rogues in the party? That's basically how I played DA2 when I'm not going with a full rogue party once I get Sebastian... Or did you mean it's unbalanced because it's overpowered...

I saved Feynriel from tranquility. Merrill and Aveline turned on me in the fade, and Aveline was a bit challenging, ended up running around the room for a bit waiting for my pot timer to extend my chance at life. Very Yakety Sax, but the strategy rarely fails if you abuse pillars I was worried I had botched the conversation choices, since I told him both times "hey dumbass, you are chilling here with demons". I guess I made good choices before shattering his view, since he survived and decided all by himself that he ought to go to Tevinter and be trained. Half-Elf dreamer... seems like an obvious DA4 cameo if not party member, if the plot is heavily Tevinter. Anyways, working on sacking Fenris, but also waiting for Isabela to make good on that kiss, wherever she wants to land it. This Hawke is 88% sarcastic, heart of gold sort that may settle down eventually, but she is living and seeing what is out there.

My own personal preference is to be a bit more classical, I guess, in party composition. If I have a DPS melee rogue, I like a second melee to be a tank warrior, suffering the slings and arrows, while the rogue 'lols' around the fight, pulling down mooks. That said, I will ignore that preference frequently, so it's more a matter of how I'm feeling in any given moment.

You get the classic rogue, warrior and mage with the companions and you play a rogue.

But if I did have 2 melee rogues and then a warrior tank, I’d be left with just one ranged (presumably a mage), whereas a more classical party composition would have 2 ranged (usually mage + archer) and 2 melee.

The way enemies spawn in the game even ranged is melee. Kirkwall Bandit 1: "Hey, do you see the scrawny elf shooting around the behind the others?" Kirkwall Bandit 2: "Yeah, probably some squishy mage. Lets get the drop on her." Kirkwall Bandits: *dropping from the roofs* "Chaaaaaarge!!!" Merrill: "Oh, company. Exciting." *clicks Inward Grasp* "Viny, dinner time!" Kirkwall Bandits: *loud scream followed by choking death noises*
The way enemies spawn in the game even ranged is melee. Staves are amazing for whacking people in the head The last attack motion of the sequence is literally a downward slam... But you did have to remind my of my first DA2 PT when I tried to... melee the Act 1 Tal-Vashoth cave Saarebas with mage Hawke as I saw the melee attacks would stagger opponents - before I learned that any attack including ranged does if it carries enough force (nothing like an archer shoving back a bandit two meters with each hit )

Staves are amazing for whacking people in the head Was really refreshing to see it after DAO. Adds some realism as well. Looks as if was added as no Arcane Warrior spec in DA2, so why not? Was hoping in DAI would be hitting people to death with staves, but nope.

So after replaying the Mass Effect trilogy…making an umpteenth attempt at playing Sims 4 and playing a little fun game called Wildermyth I’m finally back to stewing over my Dragon Age world state. However, in the past few weeks I’ve been weighting some ideas up to one another and I’ve finally (or at least hopefully, since I tend to say this a lot and it never turns out the way I want it to ) settled on my canon world state. Warden: Minerva Amell (mage) arcane warrior battlemage, no in-game romance since I shamelessly ship her with Nathaniel She’s a bit of a Chessmaster… as in, she’ll do the right thing but only if it profits her. So she basically does everything she can in order to make Ferelden strong enough against the Blight even if this means stepping on a few toes here and there. (That means sparing Loghain ) Champion: Nimue Hawke (rogue) assassin, Fenris romance Probably the sweetest assassin you’ll ever meet, has a heart of gold and only a few select buttons people can push that’ll push her over the edge…so don’t do that. Basically she’s a great example of ‘beware the nice ones’. Will probably put Bethany in the Circle so that Loghain's Inquisition cameo will make a bit more sense (honestly having him or Alistair as the contact doesn't make sense if the sibling is a Warden...at least imo. ) Inquisitor: currently I’ve an elven Inquisitor lined up because that (at least to me) seems like the only reason to ever want to drink from the Well of Sorrows and really care about the whole ‘well sorry to tell you but your gods suck, also I’m one of them and I’m going to destroy the world for us’ stick that we’re being beaten with right now. So either a ‘what the hell have I stepped into’ elven quizzy, or a (at least head canon wise since it’s not really an in-game option to role-play this way) defrosting (literal since she'd use ice spells) ice queen human quizzy. Will probably romance Cullen…or you know…descent into Solavellan hell and see what that’s all about. -- With that rant out of the way...here's Minerva again in all her glory ready to take on the Fade and various other nonsense Minerva: you know, when the templars said there'd be cake afterwards I didn't expect there to actually be cake Jowan: really? Minerva: no...the cake is a lie
Jowan: aww...
So Minerva is currently in the Fade doing her Harrowing...will be completing that tomorrow

Can someone explain the significance of that room. I had solas with me and the game states solas was only able to translate part of it

I had solas with me and the game states solas was only able to translate part of it The part translated is the same regardless who is in the party, it just change how you go the translation. Based on a veilfire writing and codex you can find in there, it seems to have been kind of "gauntlet" for the ancients elves that was used to test their humility, but eventually they ended binding someone who became too prideful (i.e. the pride demon) at the end.

In Legacy DLC (down to start of endgame Act 3), I used the prison trap to absolutely wreck the Carta ambush It was a fairly large mob, but I saw the glinting lever in the middle of the area as the idiot Carta did their battle cries. Hawke jogged over and, looking at them, held a finger to her mouth and said, "What's this do?" batting her eyelashes. Carta skewers, looks like meat's back on the menu boys!

Haven't played it today (I want to, but probably need to wait a week), but my last major task was fighting the Abyssal High Dragon in the Western Approach. My main problem is that I have so many quests and so much arachnophobia. Yep. As you can imagine that makes DA hard to play at times.

And all because of a mod I saw on Nexus the other day, that recolors the Divine armor (worn by Cassandra/Vivienne in Trespasser if they're the Divine and in your party) into silver/steel and adding the Cousland sigil So naturally me loving the Cousland origin I'm like ...I need to play a Cousland again, but I really want to have a more interesting world state and now I can't decide
I mean...with a Cousland Warden I wanted to do a human only world state where the classes are the Bioware 'default' so warrior Warden, mage Hawke, rogue Inquisitor with this world state I'd have some fun with the 'ball and chain' comment from Alistair in DA2, and a small cameo in terms of the Bottles of Thedas collection with Carver being a Warden. 'Course this world state would be somewhat more...bland because everyone's human and we all know humans are the 'best' race in Thedas...best being subjective
In my other world state with Amell, rogue Hawke and Lavellan, I have a much more interesting world state 1: Amell being referenced in DA2 by Anders, Leandra and Cullen...plus the whole delightful 'a mage saved us' shenanigans 2: when Lavellan talks to Seggrit he'll have to grovel because she's an elf (so no racist comment from him), plus another nod toward Amell from Harrit because he'll have that nice 'fair's fair a mage did safe us' comment about Redcliffe being a base for the rebel mages
As a plus...for my Amell playthrough I need to install far less mods then I need for my Cousland one because in that case I'd romance Alistair...and there's a lot of Alistair romance mods
I know I can always play both but I don't feel like doing that either
I mean...most of my choices just boil down to the same ones anyway so that's not really a problem anyways...
*sigh* I'm done ranting...
Edit: made an image to show my dubbing Choice 1: Warrior Cousland, Mage Hawke, Rogue Trevelyan Choice 2: Mage Amell (obviously), Rogue Hawke, Mage Lavellan I really can't decide

Then I basically build a story around that.

Have you guys ever come across a stranger who looks a lot like one of your characters and then struggled not to stare too much?
Like "Ohhh... this is what they would look like if they were real!" or "This person could totally play him/her in a movie!"
