More adventures in the Hissing Wastes. It's actually a really interesting region - I think Dwarven lore is fascinating and underrated, and investigating the tombs pleases my inner wannabe-archeologist. I just wish they hadn't made it so massive. It takes forever to get anywhere even with fast traveling! There's a lot of weird shit hidden out there, too. found this in the canyon near the Hissing Wastes Merchant. Doesn't look Dwarven, or Elven, or Andrastian... and this, by the final Venatori camp. What's a statue of a Qunari doing all the way out here? then there's whatever the hell is going on here: and what appears to be an abandoned Dalish camp? With Orlesian corpses strewn about? What happened here? and finally, it turns out that unnamed chantry sister you run into is actually a spirit. maybe the Veil is just extra thin here. bonus round: getting up close and personal with a dragon. The Iron Bull Greatly Approves!

and this, by the final Venatori camp. What's a statue of a Qunari doing all the way out here?
It's debateable whether the statues depict qunari, or desire demons. Or maybe they are both? Perhaps the former were created in the image of the latter, or perhaps the latter like the appearance of the former and choose to emulate it.

The Iron Bull Greatly Approves! That is how I feel about the entire game. It comes across that it was made big just to be big and not because the game worked at that level. I had to undo over a hour of gameplay myself today for I did the mission table for the trainers and it bugged out finding Cole in that area.

I don't really see qunari allowing themselves to be depicted like that.

Spent some time in Exalted Plains... did the quests, killed thousands and thousands and thousands of Halla (with a Dalish MC, no less) because wolves would constantly herd them into our path. Massacred almost as many snoufleurs for fun, though... because, well lvl 4 leather? Did almost all Dalish quests except bear skins, and did all the ramparts and fort demon quests.
And then...
... I spent the rest of the day washing the dishes, vacuuming, generally cleaning my apartment, as I kept the game running letting me and my companions stand around in the back of Fort Revesan, just to catch up banter I hadn't progressed since game start. I always make sure that Solas and IB get their three or four pieces of dialogue finished before IB's personal quest (and IB with a few others who will mention his ben-hassrath job or Qun stuff). As well as Cole and Cass banter about Seeker Lambert before Cass' personal quest. That took what... three hours (also wanted some of the lighter banter over with). At times like that, I wish there was a DA2 banter feature. Specific, trustworthy banter spots in the city. Also found out I did some tax papers wrong, and don't lose out on 76$, after all. Banter time well spent, I'd say.

Having played the previous two games now, I realize that Inquisition has several flaws (more thoughts on that another time), but I think one thing it does really well is the main quests. Inquisition's storyline is pretty strong when you don't let yourself get bogged down in the tedious filler content. I completed my favorite main quest yesterday, What Pride Had Wrought, which is... honestly kind of devastating to play through with a Dalish Inquisitor. I imagine Dorian and Blackwall had to physically restrain my quizzy from taking a swing at Solas and/or Morrigan a couple of times. The Yes, We Know About Mythal mod helped cut down on some of the frustration of doing that quest with a very elfy elf.
Finished the game today. The final battle with Corypheus took me about 10 minutes on the normal setting. Maybe next time I should bump up the difficulty just for that fight...
Up next: DLCs! I like to play them after the main game and pretend that it takes place during the two years between beating Corypheus and the Exalted Council. Gonna do The Descent first bc it's really refreshing to come back to the colors of the Frostback Basin in JoH after spending hours in the dark underground. Onward to the Deep Roads!

Been taking my time since I don't get too frustrated and stop again for I really want to finish this playthrough. I am getting to the point I am doubting having any trials on is really worth it unless the effect interests me. I have about 20 hours total between my original start and my restart and I have gotten a total of four items from it. With having three items that greatly increase the chance activated. Now I do like Even Ground for having the enemies at my level instead of walking through them is nice, but other then that unless working on an achievement I don't think its worth the hassle of having them on.

Now I do like Even Ground for having the enemies at my level instead of walking through them is nice, but other then that unless working on an achievement I don't think its worth the hassle of having them on. Yeah usually by that point I'm in the upper teens levelwise and seeing as the recommended level is 20 for them that's usually close enough for me. The initial rifts in the area at that point can still be quite challenging by that point but the yare doable So long as you don't go nea rthe tough rifts lik ethe one in the river that spits out Pride demons until you're in the 20's level wise then you should be fine as I did them last night and m yquizzy is level 22 now, I did almost have my ass handed to me though by them as my team were down t o3 health potions by the time we were done.I think as long as you've done enough to get you're quizz yup t oaround 17/18 you're read yfor the DLC's. I tdoes requier at leas t for me that I do the main quests in each of the zones in the main game to reach that level as wel as the main story quests up to that point but it's not that hard to do. Mainly because by the time I'm done with Wicked Eyes Wicked Hearts the onl yarea I haven't unlocked is the Emprise but I tend to leave that till just then as that area has the toughest enemies in the main game.

Just arrived at Skyhold with my Inquisitor and Friends. Have so so enjoyed my full Dragon Age play through, still am! Strangely, I've played Mass Effect all the way through all three games a few times in the past, and I've just played the Legendary Edition, but I don't think I've ever done this with the Dragon Age series. When Inquisition came out, I think I played it two or three times, but it was such a big game, and DA:Origins seemed a life time ago, in actual time but also in the style and the jump in technology, I didn't feel I could go back to it. The Warden having no voice felt so jarring by comparison to Hawke and the Inquisitor. But what a fantastic experience it is!! While I knew the stories well, and it's been a while, so many things about Thedas and the greater story arc have clicked and fallen into place. It's such a heart-thumpingly good tale, so intricate and interesting, and the characters so engaging, it's right up there with the best narrative media across the board. Sorry, I know I'm preaching to the choir here really, I'm just excited about Dragon Age all over again, and wanted to share it with like-minded souls.

Playing through my offical alternate dimension take on the Dragon Age series (prefer developing a canon and just replaying that; subtle influence of the BSN has encouraged me to explore some paths not taken). Had to restart from scratch recently, because I didn't plan on Alistair's romance being locked behind the Redcliffe quest (which I did last), and ran out of time to develop it (no gifts except plot items for my alternate). Decided to rebuild my Warden as an aggressive Dalish fighter-thief romancing Zevran instead. I have warmed up to his character a little more (considerably more than Alistair), but he and Alistair are still my least favorite Origins companions.
So, I just completed the Landsmeet sequence, and experienced a variation I've never encountered before. This Warden has Alistair in severe negative approval, and with his objections to Eamon's plan, my Warden begrudgingly said she would support Anora. But Anora comes out during the Landsmeet and accuses my Warden of slandering and defaming her father to help steal the throne. After executing Loghain, Alistair ends up becoming king despite his objections, after all. It was great fun.

I have been slowly working my way through Inquisition. I am still using the wiki to make sure I get everything I can for I am skeptical still that I will ever play Inquisition again as I have said before there isn't one big thing, but a lot of little ones.
Right now I have completed The Hinterlands (minus the Dragon), The Storm Coast (minus the Dragon), Fallow Mire, Crestwood (minus the Dragon), and The Forbidden Oasis (just not the shard door portion). My Inquisitor is currently taught as an elementalist, but looking towards becoming a Rift Mage. I don't like the Necormancer and the Knight-Enchanter seems boring. Since I never played the DLC I have completed several of the Trial Achievements including the one where you side with the mages, but after completing that mission I went back and picked saving the Templars as my choice of which faction to save. I completed both and then choose after that point.

Had a save for the last night in Redcliffe because I wasn't sure how things would go. It turns out, even with a poor approval for Alistair, my Dalish Warden didn't have to bully him into the Dark Ritual. With three points in Coercion, the second persuasion choice worked, and the Warden got to live and help her friend fulfill Asha'bellanar's will.

Thanks to the *very* welcome 'Multiple Romance Mod', I romanced Blackwall for the first time. Just completed 'Revelations'. Oh my heart! I mean...grrr and everything but...
And I tell you what, I'm more annoyed about various people's behaviour in this playthrough than in any previous run, and I haven't even reached the end of the main game, let alone Trespasser! Actions and comments are having more impact on me for some reason (age perhaps x) ) and I find myself muttering things like, 'You absolute s**tbag' and 'ffs' and 'I can't believe you said that!'
I fervently hope DA4 will allow some much needed payback and closure because I would seriously like 'a word'.

Yea hbecause of it's size sometimes I thin kit's bette rt otak ei ton slowl ythat's why I gav emyself a couple of breaks and played a bi Fifa during my last run. I plan on doing a mag enex tbut that's when I com ebac kroun dt oplaying it. Thoiugh in htis instance it'll jus tb eDAI as I've used the keep to randomly create a world state for me. Jus tneed to import i tint oDAI and go once I'm ready to jump back in.

Last July I started to play DAI, I remember struggling to make a character. The last one being a level 15 Lord Trevelyan Champion. I also had a level 14 Lady Lavellan Mage I played before him, but stopped playing because I was bored of playing Mage (as my last two PT were Mages). And a Lady Lavellan Rogue too, but she's lower levels. Also, I have dissonance issues with Dalish which makes it very hard to play for me (they feels too much like Trevelyan-with-pointy-ears sometimes, I don't have that issue with Qunari or Dwarves). I've started to hang out again in the Crazy Theory thread and now I kinda want to play DAI again. My last playthroughs were abandoned, I block when you can either do the Party or the Wardens. I can basically do every maps before I pick between those, because I can't decide which one of the two to do first. Also, I tried to romance Josephine in all my last unfinished PTs and picking the mages over templars is an assured PT death too. My dwarven mage (cool mod and it was awesome to play) ended with Dorian instead of Josephine. I did In Hushed Whispers on that character and got "bored". My Lady Lavellan didn't work that much with Josephine RP-wise (I couldn't make it work in my head) + dissonance like I said. My Champion was abandoned because I got annoyed: I never got the assassination attempt on Josie (I even followed a guide dammit) and I can't get the armor schematic I want for that character (I managed to get rogue and mage superior armor but not warrior ). I was quite enjoying that PT until that point thought. Although now, he feels repetitive to play. I'm at the point where I think I shouldn't try to romance Josephine because it's like an unlucky charm. So I was wondering how does a Lady Lavellan romance with Sera feels like? I've done Sera with a Qunari Qizzy which is basically easy-mode. I was thinking maybe trying a Rogue again (with Mage as backup in case I can't get Rogue to work) too. I know trying to play a Dalish again when I have a problem with them might not be the best of idea, but I just need to come up with something that works. I really don't feel doing a Solas romance. Knowing the twist and what happens in Trespasser just make it very hard to not punch him... The rest of the options have the same head-RP issue as Josephine.

In the final furlong and chasing Qunari all about The Crossroads. And we all know where THAT ends up!
As I've said previously, I haven't played this in a long time so I have forgotten quite a bit, but BLIMEY, at what point did Teagan become such an insufferable grumpy-pants? And surely they could have kept his magnficent facial fuzz etc and still make him a minor bad guy, rather than sticking him in a horrible hat and suddenly make him look like Howe's brother? And really, he's not a bad guy. His objections and concerns are fairly reasonable.
Poor Teagan. I suppose he does have to wrangle stupid Alistair (in my version) so perhaps that's enough to try any person's patience.
So many more questions and thoughts than previous playthroughs. I must have been so intent on finding out what happened to Certain People that I wasn't paying attention.

Well that is that!! What a fantastic time I've had!! Now laughing like a drain, listening to Cassandra reading Varric's character assessements. Very funny and I've not heard them before! So that's that! And I now have to put myself into cryo until DA4 arrives.

That is how I feel about the entire game. It comes across that it was made big just to be big and not because the game worked at that level. I had to undo over a hour of gameplay myself today for I did the mission table for the trainers and it bugged out finding Cole in that area. I loved inquistion but I think they went for quanity over quality and it hurt the game. Look at val royeaux. It felt fake and like an after thought where as in DAO orzammar and denerim felt like cities. I would rather a smaller setting that is well done then a massive open world that feels empty. Just because skyrim and TW3 did it doesn't mean everyone else should.

I must have been so intent on finding out what happened to Certain People that I wasn't paying attention. Yeah but they made him out to be a complete a**. He does have reasonable concerns about the inquistion but goes about it like an angry old man telling kids to get off his lawn. I mean he brings up the dam which was held by bandits. He just came across as hateful which is strange given how he was in DAO and DA2. They also had him age really bad over less then four years. Remember we see him with king alistar in act three of DA2 and he still looks like teagen from DAO. It's like he aged thirty years since then.

Just because skyrim and TW3 did it doesn't mean everyone else should. This is a general gaming bug-bear of mine - calling somewhere a town or city, then giving it 2 hovels, a tavern, possibly a church, and some bloke with a market stall willing to buy all your crap. Bah!
I love it when it's done right, and at least gives the illusion of a big place. Denerim wasn't too bad in that respect, but I thought Orzammar was a bit on the pokey side. But yes, Val Royeaux is unforgiveably pants!! The Arx in Divinity Original Sin 2 wasn't too bad, and the main city maps in old Baldur's Gate and more recently, Pillars of Eternity: Deadfire, were honourable attempts. Nar Shadda (SWTOR) and Boralus (World of Warcraft) are pretty good too for giving you the feeling you're in a bigger place than you really are.
Naturally, I'm salivating at the idea of DA4, particularly those intriguing pics of Minrathous (?). I like the idea of a mage city being the magical equivalent of a sci-fi metropolis, complete with colourful signs and street lights, because if you had that much magic kicking around, of course you'd use it for stuff like that! I hope we get to run around in a pleasingly big place, without *too* many loading screens.
