Faith & Owen Shepard:
Faith: Met with Captain Anderson at Flux. He was on my side. Told me not to give up the fight and that I had to get to Ilos and figure out what the Conduit was and make sure Saren didn't use it. He'd wanted to warn me but was prevented from getting out a message. Two ideas to get the Normandy out of lockdown came up. First, he thought he could unlock the controls from a Citadel console. That was dangerous, considering it was watched by armed guards. Second idea was to hack Udina's computer since that's where the lockdown was issued. I voted on Udina's computer. Even if he was locked up for it at least he wouldn't be shot by security. Then, once I'd proven the Council wrong in stopping me, he'd be released.
Got to the Normandy and stood with Joker as we waited for the light to turn green. Don't know how he did it but Anderson succeeded. I definitely owed him one. Maybe more than one. Then it happened and we wasted no time leaving the Citadel. By the time anyone knew what had happened we would be long gone. We were headed off to Ilos.
Wouldn't you know it, Admiral Hackett reached out to me to do a mission for him AFTER I'd just stolen the Normandy. Guess he didn't care at all about Udina or Council politics. Something about biotic fanatics. I was in. They had it tough, something I knew Kaidan could relate to. Besides, me and Liara would also be there so it would be a squad of biotics.
Landed on Chohe. I found a surprising number of writings from some long dead asari matriarch (which just added to what I had already thought was a complete collection). As I was driving along I had been thinking about how few thresher maws I'd seen in these long stretches of flat ground when, wouldn't you know it, one popped up! Not that it stopped me. The Mako's cannons combined with it's jumping ability made it no match for us. I was never going to use one of those new Nomad's I'd heard about. They were faster, but the sacrifice was the kick ass cannon that could kill giant worms that came out of the ground.
Got to the compound but there was a bit of a hitch. The biotics had drugged a bunch of scientists and it wasn't all that unlikely that they'd wander into combat zones. Was going to have to try not to kill them. Succeeded. Took out the biotics and not a single casualty from the drugged up scientists. Hackett was very impressed. I was going to kick that Butcher nickname before I knew it. Why should Owen be the only one called a Hero?
Now it really was time to head to Ilos. En route, Kaidan stopped by my quarters. Didn't even knock. We talked and it was clear that we were ignoring the chain of command. I asked him to stay the night. We kissed, made love...he was worth the wait.
Then Joker called. He said we were at Ilos. There were lots of geth ships nearby by our stealth systems kept us hidden. Problem came in getting us close to Saren. Any clear landing zone to drop the Mako wouldn't get us to him in time. Arguments ensued but Joker said he could get us down, even with the landing zone 1/5 of the size normally needed. I trusted him and told him to make it happen.
Saren saw I land and locked a still functioning door. We'd have to find an override. Besides the door, there were still lights and elevators that were working. After 50,000 years, the damn lights were still on! If we survived this cycle I hope we could one day build as well as the Protheans. Funny thing was there were geth attacking us on some places but also armatures that were linked to consoles. I was able to hack them and use them against the geth! Kind of wish I had that quarian with me that was running with Owen.
Found a security panel that was still working. Sort of. A damaged hologram appeared and started to speak. Kaidan and Liara didn't understand it but it could perfectly. Those visions were finally proving useful! It was hard to understand but a clear warning against the Reapers and orders to seek refuge in the Archives. Also mentioned the Conduit but I couldn't figure out its use other than that it was useful against the Reapers. That meant Saren wanted to stop it from being used against them. Still, it unlocked the door and allowed us access to the Archives. We did see stasis pods lining the walls of the Archives. They had all powered down, meaning there were no survivors. Then we ran into a barrier but there was an elevator right next to it. No choice but to enter. It brought us to another console with a damaged hologram. This was different than the other; it was a Prothean VI that called itself Vigil. I did say there was no taint of indoctrination on us, unlike the others who had passed by. Good to know considering all the Reaper technology we'd encountered. Or maybe not so surprising since I'd only encountered a hologram of Sovereign and not the Reaper itself. Vigil also had the imprint of the mind of a Prothean research scientist. Very possibly more AI than VI, but still barely functioning.
What it told us was chilling. The Citadel was a massive mass relay that the Reapers would use to invade the galaxy and destroy us all. The keepers were creations - or perhaps slaves - of the Reapers that were used to maintain the Citadel so that no organics would ever understand how the Citadel truly functioned. Worse, even those who escaped the initial assault were betrayed by indoctrinated agents. Then they stripped away all signs of advancement and retreated to dark space to allow younger civilizations to advance. The indoctrinated agents, with no one controlling them, died of starvation because they no longer knew how to care for themselves.
The Protheans had partially unlocked the working of the mass relays and had created the Conduit, a backdoor into the Citadel. And while I know we had just come from there, we might not understand what we needed to do without first coming to Ilos. Most of the stasis pods were shut down to preserve Vigil. Only when the Reapers retreated were the top scientists awakened. They knew they had no hope of winning but hoped to find a way to stop the Reapers from killing future cycles. After decades of work, they learned that a signal from the Citadel controlled the keepers. The Protheans prevented the signal from working so that, when Sovereign returned, the signal was ignored and the keepers did not open the mass relay as planned. Saren's plan was to manually open the Citadel relay. However, they had created a program that would temporarily override a master control unit for the Citadel that would prevent Saren from opening the relay. It was located right on the other side of the Conduit. I questioned Vigil as much as possible but we had to head out.
We had to race past several geth colossuses and into the Conduit before it closed. The Mako was wrecked into the process but it brought us right into the Presidium. That one mass relay sculpture that Ash had admired and Kaidan said made his teeth tingle - that was the other side of the Conduit. It was one-way, which is why no one ever knew its true purpose.
Probably shouldn't have been surprised to learn that the master control unit was located in the Citadel tower, right where the Council met. Had to travel outside of the Citadel on foot to get there. I interrupted Saren and he had to stop to face me. I talked with him, told him he would be discarded after the Reapers had one, and that he could stop them if he had the guts to do what had to be done. He knew what I meant. Saren thanked me and blew his brains out. That's the ultimate sacrifice in the face of an unstoppable enemy. Saren wasn't a good person by any stretch but at least he died trying to stop the Reapers. That meant something.
With him out of the way, I accessed the control unit and uploaded the data file. Kaidan suggested I open the Citadel arms so the fleets could get in. Problem was the Destiny Ascension - a ship holding 10,000 asari and the Council - was in grave danger, shields down 40%. They wouldn't survive without help. Then I heard from Joker, who had the entire Arcturus fleet with him and was willing to save the ship. Liara, of all people, said I should sacrifice the Council for the greater good while Kaidan talked of this all being bigger than humanity. I had to pause to consider the options, even knowing how little time we had. What I did understand was the while I hated politics and politicians even more, they were also the only thing holding the galaxy together, keeping what peace we had in check. If they died, things would be chaotic. I had to save them, even knowing that it would sacrifice more of the Alliance's fleet than I cared to think about. This was what it meant to be a part of a galactic society. We had to stand together. I gave the order.
As the fleet moved against Sovereign, the remnants of Saren came alive - or animated, at least. There was nothing organic there anymore. It was also just machine and entirely under the control of Sovereign. I'm not sure if it transferred its mind to that body or if it was in both places. I had no idea how Reapers worked. What I did know was that once I blew that thing to bits the shields on the Reaper dropped. The fleet flew and and destroyed Sovereign completely.
In the aftermath, the Council expressed tremendous gratitude for our actions. Even Sparatus was humbled, showing no signs of his typical bad attitude. The Council recognized that humanity was ready to stand as defenders of the galaxy and so offered us a place on the Council, only the fourth ever since its inception over 2600 years ago. Races who had been around much longer like the volus had not received such an honor. They asked for a list of potential candidates to serve as human Councilor but said MY choice would hold a lot of weight. I chose Anderson without hesitation. He had a spine. He was willing to punch Udina in the chin, risk his career, his freedom, maybe his life to do what he knew was right. More than that, he never doubted me when I talked about the Reapers. A soldier serving as a politician was just what we needed. Udina questioned me on that decision but the Council agreed. I'm sure the Alliance Council would have there own say on the subject but I suppose if the Citadel Council was happy with it they couldn't argue too much.
Then I told them I still had a lot of work to do to prepare for the eventual arrival of the Reapers. Though they'd been slowed down they were still on their way. We had no idea when they would come but we had to be ready.

Faith Shepard: I thought the Council really understood what was going on. I thought the got that the Reapers were the real threat. Yet, they sent me out hunting geth. Stupid, stupid. I had learned from Saren that the Reapers had been using the geth as tools but looked down on their for engaging in worship of them. With no Reapers around, the geth were not attacking human colonies anymore. Still, I did as I was ordered for the next few weeks, right up until an unknown ship spotted us despite the cloaking and attacked the Normandy. A lot of good crew - people who trusted me - went down. I had to order Kaidan to get the survivors into escape pods and leave himself. Only problem was that Joker wouldn't leave and I wasn't leaving the best pilot in the galaxy behind.
I made it to the cockpit and convinced Joker to leave. He'd be too slow on his own, what with brittle bone disease, so I slung him over my shoulder and moved to the escape pods. I threw Joker in one but a second attack sent me away from the pod myself. I just barely managed to hit the button sending the pod on its way. Meanwhile, my suit was punctured and I was heading toward the atmosphere of Alchera. I knew I had no chance, that the Alliance would never arrive in time. As my final action, I sent all of the files on my omni-tool to Owen. I hoped he could make good use of them, maybe figure out who had attacked us and why. This was the end for me.

I actually have been playing a lot of ME2. Haven't posted about it because so much of it is RP/headcanon that I wasn't sure it would fit. In order to make my twins thing work, it requires extensive "re-writing" of things that actually happened. Like, since Owen Shepard is an undercover Spectre agent infiltrating Cerberus, and he didn't die on the SR1 (Faith did), the way I write about it is different than what actually happens in the game. Even his encounter with the Council goes down very differently, since he wasn't dead for two years. Possibly there are one or two planted agents in Cerberus to assist Shepard but without his actual knowledge (just suspicion). It's more like fanfic and feels inappropriate to write about that in this thread.

Aw, come on, post it I feel like some headcanon is totally fine, at least for me (I'm quite guilty of this after all as well). Also I'd be interested in seeing how you spin this further, it's such a cool idea with Faith & Owen.

I actually played some Barbara "Barbie" Shepard over the weekend, but I have not had time to sit down and write about. Hopefully later this week.
But until then, Barbie is having a little trouble finding love...
Barbara "Barbie" Shepard...
Barbie: Kaiden, will you be my boyfriend?
Kaiden: I told you no.
Barbie: Liara, will you be my girlfriend?
Laira: No.
Barbie: Garrus, will you be my boyfriend?
Garrus: No.
Barbie: Ashley, will you be my girlfriend?
Ashley: No.
Barbie: Wrex, will you be my boyfriend?
Wrex: Hell no.
Barbie: Hey Joker!
Joker: Hey Shepard.
Barbie: Tali, will you be my girlfriend?
Tali: Ew. No!
Conrad Verner: I'll be your boyfriend!
Ashley: Aaaah! How'd you get in here? And have you been stalking us?
Conrad: I came in through the airlock, like everyone else. And I wouldn't call it "stalking", exactly. And I'll be your boyfriend!
Barbie: Great! I hope you don't mind a foursome! I've got a drunk Elcor and Batarian prostitute all line up! It's gonna be epic!
Conrad: Oh no...

From the Journal of Owen Shepard: I was working on my undercover op to make myself noticed by Cerberus so they might try to recruit me. Wouldn't be easy since I took down so many of their operations. Then I got a massive influx of files to my omni-tool. It came from Faith's omni-tool and along with it was a voice message from her. It was her last. Her ship had been destroyed by unknown attackers. Some of her crew escaped but she wasn't able to make it to an escape pod. Her suit had been punctured and she was losing oxygen. She was also floating toward the atmosphere of Alchera. Things looked bleak. She wanted me to have the contents of her omni-tool in case there was something useful for me in there. Damn. Never even got to tell her I was a Spectre since we'd never gotten a chance to sit down and chat after the Battle of the Citadel. Now I'm the last member of our family.
A week later, there was a huge funeral for the Hero of the Citadel. (Her rep as Butcher of Torfan was forgotten by now.) At the funeral I met Staff Lieutenant Kaidan Alenko and Dr. Liara T'Soni, two of the people who traveled in her squad. (The other was Gunnery Chief Ashley Williams, but she had died on Virmire.) I knew from messages and the omni-tool files that Faith had something going with Alenko. We were both grieving heavily. One thing led to another and we had a brief fling, but the guilt kept it from being more than meeting up a couple of times.
[Jumping ahead a bit.] About a year later, ran into Alenko again. We did try to make a go of it but between whatever Alliance duties he had and my undercover mission to infiltrate Cerberus, it's become difficult. Some of my activities disturbed him but I couldn't tell him what I was doing. A plan was coming together to get me noticed by Cerberus. This relationship was a casualty of my mission. I just hope others aren't physically harmed by what I have to do (aside from Cerberus).

I am almost done with Obbie Vanguard. I just finished Leviathan. Its a shame I am a sucker in terms of completion, because this DLC is not fun to replay because you constantly have to back track to the Citadel (though I won't do Omega DLC because its boring and screw Aria). The one thing I have always wondered is who comes to your aid when you come back up after speaking to Leviathan? I always assumed a romance or the person you have the most conversations with or used the most would be it? I took EDI and James this time. I don't talk to James a whole lot, but I have talked to EDI quite a bit. She was even the voice that came over the comm in the Citadel DLC asking if I had brain damage.
But James was the one who came to my aid. In another playthrough where I was romancing Ashley, she came to my aid, but in another run she didn't. And she was my romance in both runs at the time. Could it be because I was unfaithful and not so nice to her in one run, but was a total gentleman to her in the other?
But yeah, its weird that I am enjoying this run the most even with no romance. Its kind of freeing to have nobody and you feel like an eligible bachelor, as lame as that sounds. I didn't know that Diana tells you to look her up after the war if you flirt with her but don't want to risk her job. Pretty cool actually. But I saw Kasumi on the Citadel again. Ob was glad to see her for obvious reasons. He still has the hots for her though.
I just need to finish the Citadel party, and the last two story missions.

Okay, so started a new PT of ME1 yesterday after a long stint of MEA and much indecision and attempts at starting other games. Its been a while since I played ME1 except for a quick run through of the trilogy before MEA. So William Shepard Spacer and Soldier boarded the Normandy SR1 and reoriented himself with the crew and the ship and it was so nice to hear Jokers voice. No disrespect for Kallo but Joker makes the MET games with his humour, snark and ability to distil whatever is going on to a one liner, joke or comment. Met with Anderson and Nihlus and set course for Eden Prime to pick up a Prothean beacon. Joker was right to flag the fact we had a spectre on board being a sure sign something was up and our landing proved that with the discovery of Geth. Unfortunately Cpl. Jenkins was our first casualty. We picked up Chief Williams the last survivor of her unit and after a few firefights with the Geth found a guy hiding who said Nihlus has been killed/betrayed by another Turian named Saren. We talked to some scientists and I had to punch one of them as he was a gibbering idiot. Then off to find the beacon, we successfully fought more Geth and then disabled some bombs. Whilst speaking to Kaidan I noticed Ashley studying the beacon and then suddenly start to get pulled towards it, so intervened throwing her out of the way but causing myself to be entranced by it as it delivered some sort of message. Then I woke up in the med bay, Dr Chakwas assured me I'd be fine and so we set-off to the citadel to inform the council of Saren's killing of Nihlus. I shouldn't have been surprised but the council refused to accept Saren's part in the killing and I was blamed for the loss and destruction of the beacon. Anderson provided some history on his dealings with Saren in the past and then Kaidan and Ashley (now a member of the crew) checked out the Citadel. We met the consort, the Volus and Elcor ambassadors, a C-Sec officer named Garrus, helped a C-Sec officer with an issue with a religious Hanar and then did some sight seeing. Today will be chasing up Garrus to see if he can help with the Saren issue, help the Elcor Ambassador and The Consort and see where it all leads. A few pics, apologies for the subtitles in them: It feels like home: I love this guy: This will be fun: The hand of God???

OK, more of my RPing just to set the stage for ME2 gameplay.
From the Journal of Owen Shepard: Plan was to find a reason that Cerberus would think I'd consider working for them. There was an explosion, allegedly set by anti-human terrorists. I'd be injured and maybe hold a grudge. The unexpected part was waking up in an unknown medical facility to the sound of alarms blaring. A woman's voice, someone named Miranda, told me to get up and go to the locker to grab a pistol and armor. I was wearing a white and black uniform with a logo I didn't recognize. I saw it around the room, too. Fortunately, the armor inside was my classic N7 armor. I was glad to put that on. The room was on fire, so I was motivated to get moving.
Miranda directed me for a bit, warning me about mechs attacking, until I lost contact. Fortunately, I soon met another man, a biotic named Jacob Taylor, who was also fighting mechs. I helped him out with the first wave. He seemed surprised I was mobile, which made me wonder how bad of an explosion it was that I'd survived. Soon, we met up with one of the doctors who'd helped patch me up, Wilson. Used some medi-gel to get him going and we were on our way, at least until Jacob decided I needed to know that this was a Cerberus facility, something called the Lazarus Research Station. The connotation suggested someone returning from death. No way that was me. Date on my omni-tool was, well, a few days later than the explosion, but no way I was killed, resurrected and healed in so short a time. That meant Cerberus was up to something else and I was reaping some of the benefits. In any case, I gave nothing away, sounding neither shocked nor distrustful. This was where I wanted to be.
Once we reached the door to the shuttle, it opened and a woman fired a shot at Wilson, killing him. It didn't surprise me. Things in his story weren't adding up so I figured he might turn on us. Miranda said he was a traitor but didn't offer more information. Jacob was very surprised but it honestly didn't bother me to see a Cerberus agent shot down. If this guy was a traitor to an anti-alien organization, I doubt it was because he was secretly an alien lover. He must have had another agenda. Miranda (for that's who she was) said no one else was left alive and that she and Jacob were taking me to meet the Illusive Man (TIM), the leader of Cerberus. Unexpected. Did this mean I could wrap up my mission to take down Cerberus so quickly? Probably not.

dazk: Sub-titles are totally fine. BTW, the first time I saw Sovereign in the Eden Prime video aboard the Normandy, I thought it looked like a grasping hand. Seemed very fearsome. Didn't get the aquatic vibe at all.

So yesterday Wil Shepard, ran around like a mad man on the Citadel frequently getting lost but getting some stuff done. Helped out the drunk General and the Consort and got a trinket for use later on. Recruited Wrex, Tali and Garrus in that order and got made a spectre after providing Tali's evidence to the council. Will so wanted to say I told you so you idiots but decided instead that the next time they called on him on The Normandy he'd let Joker hang up on them instead So started doing the Scan the Keepers and tried to do the Air Traffic control investigation but my deryption/encryption wasn't high enough, hope I haven't blown that by doing whatever it was (accessing the terminals?) I did in that room. So then went to the docking bay (scanned another keeper) and had some long chats with Anderson and Udina. Today off to find Liara. Pic's Someone cut off Ashley's feet? Kaidan stole the camera and took a selfie Wrex, good to see you Tali saves the day Yes Garrus you can come to and of course there's some calibrating to be done

[I'm a few posts away from screenshots. I didn't start taking them until later. A lot of this stuff I posted elsewhere, originally as letters back and forth between Owen and Faith. Now it's Owen writing into the wind since she's dead. Here, it's journals because I don't want to be completely repetitive.]
From the Journal of Owen Shepard: TIM is a coward. He wanted me working for him but won't meet face-to-face. He spouts some drivel about how people who know what "we" know understand. No, I don't, because I'm putting my ass on the line while he's sitting in a hidden space station surrounded by guards, mechs or whatever else keeps him safe. Have to settle for talking to him through a hologram which means the mission to take him down will be harder than I'd hoped. He said he wanted me working for him because anyone who could take down the military branch of his organization was a tough son of a bitch. Would he still want me if he knew I was an undercover Spectre on a mission to destroy Cerberus?
He believed the Reapers were ultimately behind the destruction of the Normandy. There were also entire human colonies being abducted. The latest was Freedom's Progress, which he wanted me to investigate. Instead of me simply trusting him, he invited me to look into the abductions. It was technically a side mission but it felt important. I agreed. Besides, I had to be a Cerberus operative in order to successfully say I'd infiltrated the organization.

From this past weekend, Barbara "Barbie" Shepard...
Kaiden: Hey Barb? Can I ask a question?
Barbie: Why is the sky blue?
Kaiden: No.
Barbie: How are black holes formed?
Kaiden: No.
Barbie: If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
Kaiden: No.
Barbie: Where do babies come from?
Kaiden: No! When are we going to continue our search for Saren?
Barbie: Oh I totally forgot about that! We'll do that right now!
Kaiden: Great!
Barbie: Are you sure you don't want to know where babies come from?
Kaiden: NO!
* * *
Anoleas: Matriarch Benezia went up to Peak 15, but you can't go up there.
Barbie: Will you let me go if I give you this mysterious package I found near my ship?
Anoleas: So shiny... (takes package, gives Barbie a garage pass)
Barbie: Oh wait, that looks dangerous.
Anoleas: You're right. Here, take it back. (pause) Wait, what just happened?
Opold: Hey, that's my package!
Inarmorda: We need to talk.

Barbie: Initiate the neutron purge.
Mira: Please provide your authorization.
Barbie: Password!
Mira: Access denied.
Barbie: Access code!
Mira: Access denied.

Mira: Access denied.
Kaiden: Barbie...
Barbie: QWERTY!
Mira: Access denied.
Kaiden: Tartovsky had the access code.
Barbie: DVORAK!
Mira: Access denied.
Kaiden: You grabbed the code from his dead body.
Barbie: Swordfish!
Mira: Access denied.
Kaiden: You're holding it in your hand.
Barbie: Penis fingers!
Mira: Access denied.
Kaiden: I don't want even want to know.
* * *
Captain Ventralis: We have our orders from Lady Benezia. We have to kill you.
Kaiden: Good luck with that. We've tried.
Ventralis: What?
* * *
Barbie: Hey, Mrs. B!
Benezia: I'll kill you! Deathbots, attack!
Asari Commando: Uh, what about us?
Benezia: Okay sure, whatever. You can join in too.
Liara: Why are you doing this?
Benezia: I'm indoctrinated!
Barbie: You're drunk?
Liara: That's 'inebriated'.
Barbie: You're having difficult bowel movements?
Kaiden: That's 'constipated'.
Benezia: Oh will you minions just kill them already!
Barbie: Wheeeeeeee! Pew pew pew pew!
Kaiden: Why are you making silly pistol noises when you are using an assault rifle?
Benezia: It's too late for me. Take this data before I die. Good night, Little Wing!
Liara: Ugh, I HATE that nickname!
Rachni Queen: If you're here to rescue me, then I think I would rather die.
Barbie: AAAAH! Another giant bug! Get away from me, get away from me, getawayfromme! (pushes button)
Rachni Queen: (running away) Freedom!!!

More catching up...
From the Journal of Owen Shepard: I looked into Freedom's Progress per TIM's request. Immediately attacked by geth and still can't get the idea of AI being behind it. It seems overly coincidental that I'd run into Tali amongst a group of quarians present. Given that the planet was devoid of humans it was suspicious. They were there because a quarian on Pilgrimage was present. Given that we'd previously taken down Cerberus operations she was surprised to find me working for them. Of course, she didn't know I was a Spectre now and it was my job. We teamed up, in part because the quarian named Veetor might have intel on what had happened. Miranda actually thought I'd let her take Veetor back to Cerberus. I didn't know the story but there was bad blood between them and an unsympathetic Cerberus was hardly likely to treat him kindly. Besides, everything we needed was in his omni-tool and Tali gave it to us. Tried to get her to join up with me but she said she was on an important mission.
What we discovered was that aliens called the Collectors had abducted the colonists using seeker swarms to immobilize them and then simply taking them away. The why was unknown. Thing is, I was sold on the mission and decided it might be best to use Cerberus to accomplish it. Maybe I could turn Cerberus away from their terrorist activities, bring them back into the Alliance fold - though I doubted it could be done without removing TIM from the board. In any case, TIM offered up the names of people for me to recruit for what he said could be a suicide mission. I tried to get my own people but they were either missing or unavailable. However, one person who showed up immediately was Faith's old pilot on the Normandy, Jeff "Joker" Moreau. I knew he was a great pilot but I also know his stupidity contributed to Faith's death. Probably why the Alliance grounded him, though doing so led him to Cerberus. Since I already suspected Cerberus had their eye on my for a while, it's likely they sought him out rather than the other way around. Then again, few knew anything about Cerberus except my own crew and squad.
We also got a new Normandy. It was larger but mostly had the same layout. My cabin was bigger than anything I'd ever seen on an Alliance ship but I was reminded that it was technically a civilian ship. It had a large, empty aquarium, a queen sized bed (can't remember the last time I slept in one of those) and a private bathroom. Oddly, it also had a picture of Kaidan on my desk, but I don't know if it was because TIM knew I'd had a fling with him or because Faith had. There was also a pretty young Yeoman who was to flag my messages but who was also a counselor who would keep an eye on the mental status of the crew. The kicker was that the ship had an AI called EDI. It was shackled and had a lot of gaps in its knowledge base on things that interested me (like how TIM got plans for the Normandy, how many Cerberus cells existed, and things of that nature). It did, however, tell me TIM was spying on us. No surprise, I guess. Anyway, it's primary function was cyber-warfare so it wouldn't be in control of the ship itself.
Oddly, messages to me were somehow redirected to private terminals on this ship (one in the CIC and the other in my quarters). One was from Anderson, asking me to "explain my actions", which must have been code for me to give a report. There were more suggestions on who to recruit, new weapons and armor available to me and some side missions. One thing that caught my eye was a message from Admiral Hackett telling me about the Normandy SR1 crash site on Alchera. He wanted me to place a memorial and recover dog tags or anything else that might help the families of the dead find some peace. This would be my first stop, even before going to Omega to find the scientist Mordin Solus, a salarian who might just be able to find a solution to the seeker swarms.

It's like "go to this spot, come back to me and I'll hand you cash" type of things. OK, I guess getting intel from Fist was tougher but you were going there anyway.

Admiral Hackett: Biotic terrorists have attacked a Sirta Foundation facility and taken the staff hostage. Can you go take care of the situation?
Barbie: Yes sir, Admiral Thicket!
Later...
Kaiden: So they've drugged the scientists. We have to be careful not to shoot them.
Barbie: Yeah, I don't what this stuff is, but I am tripping BALLS!
Liara: Oh goddess...
Barbie: Whoooooooa. I can see through TIME! AND SPACE!
Liara: Do we... save this facility without her?
Kaiden: Barbie, why are stripping yourself naked?
Barbie: The terrorists are no match for my invincible time powers! Geronimo! (runs into the facility screaming)
Liara: What do we do?
Barbie: Oh no! The evil flowers have invaded the forest wood and have enslaved the snake birds! I'll save you!
Kaiden: I think we should just let this one ride out.

Still catching up (hoping to one day be able to post as I'm playing)... From the Journal of Owen Shepard: Exploring more of the ship, I found Dr. Chakwas was the doctor on board. She was always straight up Alliance, and aboard Faith's crew, so I can't imagine why she'd be here. At least, not until I got to engineering and met two engineers who used to be with the Alliance until quitting in disgust over the Alliance and the Council going into Reaper denial and basically tarnishing the name of a woman who saw the threat, killed one of them and probably died because of that lack of belief. So here's where I'm at: Jacob Taylor, Joker, Dr. Chakwas, Ken Donnelly and Gabby Daniels are all ex-Alliance and all just happen to be on board this new Normandy. It could be that Cerberus recruited disgruntled people to make me feel more comfortable. Equally likely is that the Alliance or Council placed some other undercover agents around me so I wasn't alone. Couldn't determine with possibility was true and wasn't about to ask questions to find out. One curiosity. Aside from all the information EDI had in her memory banks but had blocks preventing her from disclosing, there were also a lot of locked doors. I mean, a real lot. Most doors on the crew deck were locked, as were a couple on the engineering level. That did not set my mind at ease and I wondered what was being hidden. Pretty soon, I made it to Alchera. Collected about 20 dog tags, Faith's N7 breather helmet and placed a memorial monument. I did a Cerberus op in the area for a "lost operative". The guy had been tortured to death for intel that he never gave up. One thing here is I got to use that newly discovered Vanguard ability, biotic charge. It kicks ass being able to charge across the room at super-speed with super-strength. Did recover intel the guy was hiding after taking out Eclipse mercs. EDI reminded me that this intel could be damaging to Cerberus if it got out. I decided, fuck it, if they truly believed in their cause then they had nothing to hide. I sent it to the Alliance (not the Council, because that could make me identity as a Spectre a little more obvious). Back on the Normandy, I had messages from Hackett and Anderson. Hackett thanked me for going to Alchera and Anderson said that, though the Cerberus intel would take time to decrypt, it was a huge win for them. Next, I went to the Citadel to make an "accounting of my actions". Along the way, recruited a master thief named Kasumi Goto. She seemed interesting and had a mission of her own TIM had promised her I'd help with. I told them how I come to be recruited by TIM and about the Collectors abducting human colonies (they knew someone was, but believed it was Cerberus for some reason). When I mentioned that TIM believed the Collectors were connected with the Reapers, I was told they had "dismissed that claim". However, I was told to continue doing whatever Cerberus asked of me to gain their trust. Afterward, I took a tour of some areas of the Citadel new to me. Helped a quarian wrongly accused of thievery, bought fish for my aquarium, got a space hamster, found a few model ships to put together in my "spare time" (hah, what a joke!), met with the bitchy reporter who tried to make Faith - and now her memory - look bad (I turned the tables and made her look bad - wish Emily Wong weren't so successful that she no longer needed to fish for stories), got some expensive brandy and prime spices for Dr. Chakwas and the cook on the Normandy. Lastly, I got insanely drunk at the Dark Star Lounge, passed out and woke up on the floor of the men's room surrounded by Miranda and Jacob with a turian pissing at the urinal looking on in amusement, or maybe disgust. Oh, and here are some pics of Alchera, me outdrinking Chakwas, Faith's helmet, Kaidan's picture, my fish and my space hamster.

From March 20... From the Journal of Owen Shepard: Finally got to Omega. Some old merc TIM wanted recruited there, guy named Zaeed Massani. Not a fan of mercs in general or this guy in particular. Still, he's taking money for a mission which might just get us all killed. TIM promised we'd do a mission for him which was to free an Eldfell-Ashland refinery that had fallen under the control of the Blue Suns and used its workers as slaves. As a survivor of Mindoir, you can damn well bet that I'm not a fan of the slave thing. Aria T'Loak, head of Omega, sent some goon to tell me I needed to report to her. Then, when I do, she's all like "What do you want from me?" Lady, you sent for me, so don't play that stupid game. Anyway, she gave me tips on how to find Mordin Solus. He was running a clinic in a plague zone and trying to cure it. It was lethal to everyone except humans and vorcha (who are immune to disease in general). She pointed out he was once part of the Salarian Task Force and was as likely to shoot you as help you. That meant he didn't just have to be a scientist on the ship but might hold up in a fight. Good to know. Did do some nice things, like help a dying batarian, get some people to head to the safety of the clinic, and cleared a path for them by killing every merc in my way. Mordin, of course, needed something done first, which was to make sure his assistant was safe (had gone out with cure in hand, unarmed, not realizing it was deadly dangerous) and also disseminate the cure into the air filtration system, which had just shut down (which meant I had to restart the fans). I did rescue the assistant, who was about to be shot by batarians who thought he was actually carrying vials of plague. We talked sense into them. The fear was understandable considering the piles of dead bodies everywhere. Getting to the environmental controls was fun. Killing those damn vermin vorcha made my day. Watching them turn all crispy was even better. Anyway, killed the vorcha, turned on the fans and inserted the cure into the air filtration system. Afterward, Mordin was willing to join me, especially considering the challenge it would bring. I knew some recruit called "Archangel" was also on the station but I really wanted to leave this shithole. Instead, I helped Kasumi with her mission. Despite her being a master thief, I kind of liked her. We went to Bekenstein and I had to wear a suit for a fancy party help by a thug who liked to pretend he was some kind of hero. We broke through his security to get into his own personal museum, which happened to also contained this graybox thing Kasumi wanted. My omni-tool said this weird-looking statue was an ogre. Looked familiar, though I couldn't quite figure out from where. Also saw a mass relay statue. Did this dude steal it from the Presidium in all the chaos? From what I remember reading in Faith's files, this was the other half of the Conduit. Definitely didn't want this asshole having access to Ilos. Otherwise, we'd find a frozen Prothean corpse next. Aside from fighting more mechs and mercs we eventually had to take on Hock (the thug who owned this place) in his gunship. Once Kasumi took care of the shielding, a rocket launcher blew that thing to bits. The graybox had the memories of her old lover in it and she got some peace. It also removed a threat at the same time. [Note: A glitch in Adam's Casual Appearance mod had Shepard in armor during the entire mission so I didn't take any screenshots until after he "changed" into armor in the game.]

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME3 cont'd:
Normandy
Things were tense on the Normandy following the disastrous mission to Thessia. EDI and Joker's attempts to lighten the mood with humour were not well received, but in fairness to Joker he was dealing with personal tragedy of his own – Tiptree, the colony where his father and sister lived, had been invaded by the Reapers.
Liara was arguing with Javik about what they discovered at the Temple of Athame – that the goddess the asari worshipped had been Prothean. To say that Javik was unsympathetic to Liara's grief would be an understatement. Shepard broke up the fight, and Javik eventually admitted that the Protheans had felt the asari were the best bet to lead the next cycle and stop the Reapers - “So you were...guided, when necessary”. That seemed to calm Liara down, and helped her realized she shouldn't give up hope.
In Engineering, Gabby was laying down law with Ken about his behaviour and their obvious mutual attraction. Shepard encouraged them to get together if that's what they wanted; life was too short, especially in these times.
Shep visited Liara to make sure she was alright, and try to lift her spirits. Then she went to get an update from Garrus – his family was safe, but things had gotten worse on Palaven. The Primarch had decided to pull back ships from defending the planet and put all of their hope in the Crucible. “The ruthless calculus of war...”
Citadel
The ship returned to the Citadel to resupply. Shepard checked up on Kelly, and bought some weapon and armour mods.
Her presence had been requested on the Silversun Strip. When she arrived, she found out that Grunt had been arrested for some frat boy antics beginning with an escape from the hospital and ending with a C-Sec shuttle in flames. Shepard smoothed things over with the cops, covered the damage and made Grunt apologize, trying the whole time to keep from laughing.
When that was taken care of, she met up with Jacob. He was taking care of some kids whose parents were MIA, helping take their minds off of their troubles with a fun day out at the arcade. He challenged Shepard to a game of Shattered Eezo, and won fairly easily – Shepard was no better at arcade games than she was at chess, apparently.
In the casino bar she found Joker trying to scam free drinks from the bartender by telling tall tales about his actions during the Cerberus coup. Shepard vouched for him, pointing out how much the people of the Citadel owed Shepard. It was technically true, although she was referring to things like the Battle of the Citadel rather than the nonsense Joker was spouting. There was no need for the bartender to know that, though.
She did a few matches in the combat simulator, fulfilling requests from fans and charitable organizations for specific enemies, restrictions, etc. Samantha stopped by the apartment for a visit, and as soon as she saw the hot tub she knew how she wanted to spend the day. Later, James and Steve stopped by to watch some bioticball on the apartment's big screen.
Kolyat had been given a chance to hold a remembrance service for Thane, and Shepard had offered the use of the apartment. Councillor Valern came to express his appreciation for Thane saving his life during the coup attempt. Tali, Garrus, Joker, EDI, and Samara all spoke about Thane, their friendships with him and how he affected their lives. Kolyat was grateful for the service and said it “would be a good memory.” He passed on some messages his father had attempted to send to Shepard while she was imprisoned by the Alliance. Shepard watched them after everyone had left.
Kepler Verge: Ontarom - Communications Hub
Samantha uncovered intel that Cerberus was attacking an Alliance communications hub on the planet Ontarom. The Normandy flew to the Kepler Verge, and Shepard, Liara and Tali took a shuttle down to the facility. Admiral Hackett briefed them on the trip down, putting them in touch with Grace Sato, a civilian worker who'd survived the initial attack and was now hiding from Cerberus forces.
Ms Sato was scared - Cerberus was using her communication with Shepard to try and track her - but the Commander was able to convince her to radio the instructions for obtaining the data Cerberus was trying to steal. Shepard and her team stopped Cerberus and got the data, and Steve was able to get to Ms Sato's hideout in the shuttle and rescue her before Cerberus found her.

So William got back from a break after exhausting himself on the citadel. Took the Normandy for its first run under his command to find Liara on Therrum, investigated some other planets, took out a thresher maw, found Kohaku's missing troops and killed lots of Geth on Therrum after an obligatory drive of the Mako into some lava . After killing some more Geth found Liara just hanging around and set out to free her from her trap. Activated a massive drill in an unstable environment, freed the Doc. and after killing an annoying Krogan and his Geth friends made a run for it Got back to the Normandy and got sassed by Joker who reminded me the Normandy wasn't made to withstand lava Had a crew meeting, then had a chat with Liara. Not sure what's next but will make a diversion back to the citadel to buy stuff now I have some ill-gotten cash I cheated myself some cash as I need the nice shinny's Meeting with the crew Some scenery Making a run for it

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME3 cont'd: Normandy Shepard couldn't find Gabby and Ken, but eventually discovered them down in the “hidey-hole” where Jack used to live. Evidently they had decided to act on their feelings and pursue a relationship. Took them long enough Citadel: Silversun Strip Jack came by the apartment for a visit, bringing her pet varren “Eezo”. Samara stopped by a bit later, and they did some people watching from the big picture window overlooking the Silversun Strip. Shep ran into Wrex at the casino bar. It seemed that the “perks of krogan fertility” had left him in rough shape (“More ice!”). Shepard then did a few more matches in the combat simulator. In the process, she managed to “break” the scoreboard (score higher than 9,999 points), and was given some captured Cerberus phantom armour by Armax as a “prize”. No way she was going to be caught dead walking around in that, but it's the thought that counts. Shadow Sea: Horizon - Sanctuary (“Cerberus, Reapers, and Miranda's crazy father”) Commander Shepard, Liara, and Tali took a shuttle down to the “Sanctuary” facility on Horizon, the last known location of Kai Leng. During the shuttle ride down, Steve picked up an recorded transmission from Oriana Lawson, Miranda's sister, warning people to stay away. At the gates outside the facility they found Reaper troops battling Cerberus, but no sign of the civilians who'd come here seeking safety from the war. Shepard couldn't figure out why the Reapers were fighting Cerberus all of a sudden, given that they'd left them alone on Thessia; a ruse maybe, to make TIM think that they were enemies when in fact Cerberus were doing exactly what the Reapers wanted? Further investigation inside the compound revealed the extant of TIM's madness. The whole operation was a scam to lure people of all races to be turned into husks and subjected to experiments. It was led by Henry Lawson – father of Miranda and Oriana – who'd claimed he'd found a way to control Reaper husks. Logs of communications between Henry and TIM indicated they were trying to expand this to enable them to control the Reapers themselves. Other logs showed Miranda fighting through Cerberus forces trying to get to her father and Oriana, while being pursed by Kai Leng. They finally caught up with them and confronted Henry Lawson. Kai Leng had fled – his focus was on the research data from the experiments, so once he had it he was headed back to TIM. But Henry Lawson had taken Oriana hostage. Shepard offered Lawson the chance to leave peacefully if he let Oriana go unharmed. Lawson decided to take the deal, but wasn't smart enough to make sure Miranda agreed with those terms. As soon a Oriana was safe, Miranda used her biotics to throw her father out of a window and he fell to his death. Normally Shepard wouldn't approve of executing someone who'd surrendered, but after what she'd seen done to the refugees at the facility, she was willing to make an exception. Tali accessed the research computers while Shepard checked on Miranda. The research data was gone, but Tali was able to recover other information that they could use to track down TIM's hideout. It turned out they wouldn't need it, however – Miranda had placed a tracking device on Kai Leng before he escaped. He'd lead them right to Cerberus headquarters. Back on the Normandy, Admiral Hackett called in on the vidcom for an update. They had what they needed to “take Cerberus out of this war.” There was one other matter to take care of first, however. The Admiral wanted Shepard to visit a man named Dr Bryson on the Citadel. Dr Bryson's research had reportedly uncovered information about the so-called “Leviathan of Dis”, an Reaper killed by an unknown entity millions of years ago. Admiral Hackett ordered Shepard to assist Dr Bryson to uncover the mystery of what could be powerful enough to kill a Reaper.

Finally got around to finishing Obbie vanguard run on Friday or so. It was by far the most fun I had with a broshep, which is weird because as I've said there was no romance for that run. I enjoyed role playing him, but not so much playing as him. Vanguards are just so terribly boring in ME3. The only fun I had was endlessly lashing Phantoms, but Phantoms are so few and far between in the story. If I ever decide to play Ob again, I will make him an Engineer because that seems to be the only class I enjoy in all three games next to Adept. Also, this scene had my head running wild for my head canon.
