Second that, quite a ride that was. Thank you, RedCaesar97 . And I have to admit, well... yeah ima gonna miss Barbie. Here, have some bonus Barbie. Barbie: You wanted to see me, Professor? Scientist: Yes. I invented a time machine. Barbie: Ooh! A New Game Plus machine! Scientist: What? Anyway, I feel like making it was a terrible idea and you're already in it. Barbie: Mistakes were made. Scientist: Please don't touch anything else and you're already touching buttons. Barbie: Weeeeeeee! * * * Barbie: (now in the past) Okay, now that I know what's going to happen, I can do it better and louder. Now to dig up the Prothean. I think I'm forgetting something, though. Sovereign: (lands on Barbie) And this being Barbie Shepard, she never uses the time machine the same way twice. - Normandy explodes - Barbie: Oh boy, that was close. Future Barbie: Look out! (flies in and rams Barbie) Barbie: Aaaaaaaaaah! (falls into the planet below) Future Barbie: Whoops. I wonder how much air I have left? (passes out from lack of air) - Unfortunately, project Lazarus was unable to recover the last year of Future Barbie's life. On the other hand... - Wilson: We recovered Shepard's body. Strangely, we also recovered a body that is appears to be Shepard's exact genetic match from the planet below, although I don't thing=k the brain is not intact enough for the project. What should we do with it? Miranda: (not really listening as she plays Tetris on her datapad) Use it for cloning or something. * * * Leviathan 1: Let's get this meeting started. First, we need to remind Bob that we have a designated shitting area. Please shit in the designated area because the rest of us do not want to keep stepping in your shit. Leviathan 2 (Bob): Oh come on, you know I have diarrhea. Leviathan 1: Item number two, the machine race created by the Renkorrans have destroyed their creators. We have managed to eradicate the machines, but this keeps happening. Does anyone have any ideas about how to stop the other organic races from creating evil machines? Leviathan 2: No. Leviathan 3: Nope. Leviathan 4: Uh-uh. Leviathan 5: No clue. Future Barbie: Hi guys! Leviathan 3: You shouldn't be here. Future Barbie: It looks like I kind of went too far back in time. Anyway I feel like I should warn you that you should NOT create an artificial intelligence because that would be bad. Oh, is that a volcano? (runs off) Leviathan 1: So, all in favor of creating an artificial intelligence to solve this problem? Leviathan 5: Aye. Leviathan 3: Sounds good. Leviathan 4: Best idea we've heard yet. Leviathan 2: I need to go poo again. Leviathan 1: Looks like the 'ayes' have it, motion passes!

Barbie: "How do I preserve the organic races?" Leviathan: Eh, good enough. Let's go for lunch. (both leave) Artificial Intelligence: Preserve? Like, in a jar or something? Oh, I know! I'll preserve them in cool robot bodies! Nailed it.

I just played the Overlord DLC for the first time ever and it was awesome. Before this I didn't really know much about it, I assumed it was some boring vehicle-based mission. But no, Bioware was not fucking around with this $7 DLC. Current mood reminds me of how it felt to play amazing MET missions for the first time 9000 years ago when they came out

So...I tried modding my Mass Effect 2 and 3 games...but apparently I screwed up so badly I have to reinstall my games
I didn't get very far yet in ME2, so that's not a big deal...(had just gotten past Freedom's Progress) *sigh* modding games is really not my forte doesn't help that many of the installation instructions are hard to understand (at least imo) now I gotta wait for a good time to reinstall my games (we've got a terrible internet connection, so yay *sarcasm level+2*), which will probably be tomorrow when I'm at work gotta think of something to do in the meantime
also thinking a bit on the class of my Shepard I've only so far played Vanguard and Sentinel, not sure what other classes could be fun my general playing styles (at least in fantasy games) are either sneaky rogues or spellcasters

I have a mod to skip the mini-games in 2, which you just drop into a folder. Then a couple of ending mods in 3, which again go into a folder and require the origin updater to be disabled. More than that? Nope, too much faffing about. It sucks that it broke your game tho.

I only wanted to try out Recalibrated , but apparently it doesn't work well with ALOT textures...so going to reinstall my games, then manually insert texture mods I have figured out how to use the ME3 explorer, somewhat...so we'll see how that goes , just have to remind myself to make backups...I tend to forget doing that
also, on a side note...I was able to get my Shepard's face code imported into ME2 *goes to find it* 751.CIP.KEC.G6W.KAG.47K.CEI.18G.QA3.3C7.367.614
so I was at least able to do that...I also tried her out in ME3 CC and she's going to import well in that game as well, so I'm happy kinda bummed that the scars don't import though, I know there's a mod for them...so I'll just have to see how to figure that one out once I've reinstalled everything

also thinking a bit on the class of my Shepard I've only so far played Vanguard and Sentinel, not sure what other classes could be fun my general playing styles (at least in fantasy games) are either sneaky rogues or spellcasters In reality, Mass Effect classes do not really adhere to fantasy-based game classes, since the Mass Effect games are their own separate beasts. That being said, you can approximate certain fantasy-based playstyles if you try hard enough (and squint). Infiltrator in ME2 and ME3 have Tactical Cloak, so that could satisfy your 'sneaky' playstyle. 'Caster' classes are typically Adept, Engineer, and Sentinel, which cast a lot of biotic and tech powers in all three games. Vanguard can also be played as a caster class depending on how you spec it; same with Infiltrator. You cannot really play Soldier as a caster until ME3.

Infiltrator = assassin Vanguard = arcane warrior Sentinel = arcane archer/trickster
a friend of mine said the Adept class can be a lot of fun, so maybe I'll try that one out but Vanguard is only fun (imo) when I have access to Charge, so I tend to play a different class in 1 anyway Infiltrator could also be fun...I'm quite good at sniping with bows in fantasy games, so...maybe I'll be good with sniper rifles as well? haven't really tried them out yet, since I always picture Garrus as the resident Sniper (though that does make the scene in ME3 where they go to shoot bottles a lot more fun and interesting)

With bonus powers and bonus weapons, they are also a bit more flexible than any sort of standard fantasy-based classes. And by that I mean all classes are designed to use weapons and powers in concert with each other; some fantasy-based classes can skew closer to using only weapons or only powers. 1. Generally, the Soldier is supposed to the weapon specialist, and is fairly consistent with that throughout the series. 2. The Vanguard in ME1 was a biotic-combat hybrid. With Singularity, it can be considered a better Adept than the Adept. (In my opinion, the hybrid classes in ME1 tend to be better than the 'pure' classes.) Starting in ME2 and continuing in ME3, it is a Close Quarters Combat (CQC) or Assault specialist. 3. The Infiltrator is tech-combat hybrid, but has more of a focus on being a sniper specialist -- or natural sniper -- thanks to various bonuses and starting weapons in the series. That being said, shotgun Infiltrators are fairly popular. Or with the right bonus powers, an Infiltrator can somewhat mimic an Engineer but with some extra firepower. 4. The Adept is supposed to be the biotic specialist. In ME1, that meant it had all the biotic powers. In ME2, it morphed slightly into a biotic combo specialist; the ME2 Adept also excels at disabling and killing enemies with biotic powers. In ME3, the mechanics changes made it more deadly for killing enemies with biotic powers. 5. The Engineer is the tech specialist. That didn't mean much in ME1; I much prefer playing the Infiltrator like an Engineer than the Engineer. In ME2, the Engineer was more flexible, able to distract enemies, strip defenses, and disable enemies with tech powers. In ME3, it morphed into a power combo casting class. 6. Sentinel is tech-biotic hybrid. Like the other casting-heavy Adept and Engineer classes, the Sentinel changes throughout the series. In ME1, the Sentinel took some of the best bits of the Engineer and Adept classes, but it maintained a heavy crowd-control class, much like the Adept and Engineer. In ME2 -- thanks to its new Tech Armor power -- it could be played in generally two different ways: a type of power caster, or an assault-focused shooter. It morphed again in ME3 to become a power-combo caster class, much like the Adept and Engineer.

Dude, I applaud you for this extensive explanation (where's my clapping emotion when I need one? xD) I'm never that focused on figuring out how the classes work in games (maybe that's why I'm so terrible at MMO's ), I just tend to pick a class that seems interesting and re-roll when and if necessary
your posts are always very interesting to read, so thanks for that ^^ (also loved your Barbie Shepard, she was so amazingly over the top )
sadly still waiting for my games to finish re-downloading...finished downloading ME3, now I gotta wait for the other two (damnable internet connection) I still life at home, so I made an arrangement with my relatives (mostly my brother) to only download during the day when we're at work or at night so now I gotta wait until I go to bed to restart downloads (and I'll have to find something else to do in the meantime)

Shepard showing a great bedside manner here: Killed a load of Geth:
Taking the direct approach to those afflcted: See, this is annoying: the option is 'shut up', yet Shep says nothing like the sort. Cleared out all the skyway on foot:

Finished my modded ME3 main story playthrough a few days back. And currently playing through Citadel (With CEM to boot to make the entire DLC as proper epilogue of the trilogy).
Just recently did some matches on Armax Arena, invited EDI, Miranda and Tali to the apartment. And hanged out with Javik (If you count dealing with movie vid crew and their nonsense as hanging out, of course)

Tried out some Andromeda while waiting for my Trilogy games to finish downloading (they finished today, yay ^^, so I can start playing again tomorrow) so far it's quite fun, I've gotten my ship and met PeeBee...well she sort of met me (Sara pushed her of (yep, using the default name, it sounds fun ^^) downside, my profiles for the Trilogy somehow got warped...so need to re-earn my achievements...again I could always cheat to get them back, but eh *shrugs* think we'll do it the long way this time around, it's actually fun to re-earn them again sort of makes it feel like playing the games again for the first time
ah, I also found out about how to use the Mass Effect Archives site, it was quite fun but the controls are terrible (just like the controls of the Nomad, god...I thought driving the Mako was a hassle...)
to bad the Trilogy has no effect on Andromeda (aside from Shep's gender)...ah well

Did Lair of the Shadow Broker today. IMO, the helmet recovered from Normandy Crash Site DLC made this dialogue way more powerful

I just played the Overlord DLC for the first time ever and it was awesome. Before this I didn't really know much about it, I assumed it was some boring vehicle-based mission. But no, Bioware was not fucking around with this $7 DLC. Current mood reminds me of how it felt to play amazing MET missions for the first time 9000 years ago when they came out Yay! Glad you liked it. Altough Hammerhead exploration isn't exactly a nice thing on the Firewalker DLC Pack (Can't take 2 shots and it's almost exploding), they sorta fixed that on this DLC giving the option to avoid many fights or completing them in other ways (like the Geth cannon on Prometheus Station doing the job for you) that doesn't involve lots of geth and their teleguided missiles. It's still a pain if you're looking for the Data Hound Achievment (Especially on Insanity), but I'm glad they decided to reduce the Hammerhead screentime for this one and focused on making a great plot. I mean, really. After all this years, I still go cry a river after that ending. BTW, I never give David to Cerberus, even on my 100% Renegade Playthroughs. Come on! That's just plain evil. PS: Harbinger must be laughing right now. "This hurts you." Yes, it does. Yes, it does.

I finally did it right. I avoided romancing Ashley but am still able to talk to her pleasantly. Last time I didn't realize simply talking to her nicely all the time gets you roped into a romance with her just like Liara. I am doing this because I want to see how different the romance in ME3 is for her. I've done this with Kaidan and there were enough differences to make this worth a try.
I am also getting Liara dead last in this run and it feels so right. I am currently done with all the story missions minus getting her. I am quite interested to see how Obbio will import into ME3 as I think he looks fairly good in ME1.

Just noticed the ships that are on Korlus' atmosphere are actually dropping trash to the planet surface.

Got Obbio into ME2. This run has made me realize that Jack is a more useful/fun squad member than I realized. I always thought she was the worst (worse than Jacob even) since she is so frail but has a shotgun (if you give her geth plasma shotgun she is obviously strong) and her powers were always just average for such a powerful biotic (well according to the game anyway). But I am enjoying taking her more. But I think she goes best with Engineers and Sentinels. She is kind of redundant on biotic classes and sort of unnecessary for Soldiers and Infiltrators. But for Sentinel and Engineers her pull is great and shockwave is great to see bodies fly after I disable their defenses.
Plus her battle chatter is great. I've heard so many that I have never heard before from her.
On a side note, I think Engineer is the most powerful non soldier character for insanity. I almost never have issues when I'm an Engineer on insanity. I believe soldier is over powered and infiltrators are easy. But Engineers are pretty damn good as well. Drone is too good.

I was very proud of myself being able to play Insanity (all side missions + all DLCs except Arrival) as an Engineer, when my first attempt failed badly and I had to start over as Soldier to complete it instead. My first time through as Engineer I got stuck on the Collector Ship, I believe. After too many re-loads, I gave up and lowered the difficulty.

I had a rough time with an Adept (No New Game+) during ME2 until I picked up the Locust and started going for the upgrades. Even then, Collectors were still a pain in the ass, especially with Harbinger casting that Singularity+Incinerate combo that move you out of cover with a stun.
With Soldier, there wasn't that many. I mean, Avenger+Disruptor Ammo is still better than the Shuriken that can't shoot something properly until it's very close. Add that to the fact that most enemies are shielded and on a first playthrough, you don't have access to Energy Drain as a bonus power... Gosh, Freedom's Progress was such a pain in the ass because Miranda and Jacob kept running to the FENRIS mech's direction that I had doubts on wether to continue as something other than a soldier.
But thanks to this, I developed a nice sense of patience and got good laughs with my fails. Also, had more appreciation for the game in the sense of "Things that need to be done". Collectors are so difficult that you fight them 3 times during the entire game, but other enemies, such as LOKI Mech and mercenaries get easier and easier -- Well, if compared to earlier on, I mean -- if you take the time to mine some planets and upgrade.

Really? I thought Engineer is one of the best for that part (minus Infiltrator of course). Is it the platform part where you get ambushed by scions/collector troopers? If so, the drone can distract the Scions (if I remember right, they have a hard time with drones so they get distracted for a long time), and incinerate is good against their armor. I usually take Miranda or Thane to deal with collectors barriers as well. I don't know if its considered "cheating" but I can imagine the arc projector is useful there are well for crowd control. I believe even the ascended collector general has issues with dealing with drones quickly as well. But nicely done on your run. Engineers are great. I have beaten ME2 on insanity with all classes. Adept is definitely the hardest next to Vanguards (Vanguards are buggy as hell for me so I hate them). Soldier and Infiltrators are extremely easy. Sentinel and Engineers the most fun but still pretty powerful.
