That. In an Anarchocapitalist world. It would be pretty awesome. Mmgh, I suppose you can move it a few hundred years in the future or create a different planet, add the overpopulation crisis that caused legislation to impose the draconic levies on giving birth, it become seen by the society as unethical to have procreation-driven sex, and add a terrorist organizations that try to save the humanity by bringing the population down to the carrying capacity of Earth of 2 billion by spreading their own version of genophage and you have the conditions set for your game's mindset. Throw in extreme poverty, starvation and fight for the resources, and you can easily end up with gender fluid population and a post-apocalyptic setting. Add genetically modified protagonist, and you can have a hermaphrodite cyborg as your customized protagonist that does not have the gender selection, just sliders for breast size, and androgynous features & body type. And, it goes without saying that in a setting like that, your protagonist shall take what hedonistic pleasures and human intimacy where it can find it.

Id go urban fantasy or scifi epic. Steampunk does intrigue me a bit, but I feel anything they do there would somehow mesh with the urban fantasy part.

Urban Fantasy or a real world adventure. I need something that can fill the void that has been since vampire the masquerade bloodlines. The atmosphere alone pretty much make the game, at least so much that you can overlook the shortcomings of its gameplay. Love it.

What's an "Urban fantasy" something like vampire the masquerade? Vampire: The Masquerade falls more into the gothic horror segment. Urban Fantasy is basically fantasy set in a present day city, often with female protagonists romantically involved with angels/demons/vampires/werewolves/aliens/whatever. Some of the more... special variants of the genre even have interesting creatures like "were-swans". Just imagine that. "You just wait until the full moon! I'll... I'll... eat bread!" I take that somewhat more seriously than you seem to, since swans are apparently one of the Six Cutest Animals That Can Still Destroy You. (The relevant item isn't the first one the list, and I don't think Cracked lets me link to the relevant item, so if you don't want to read the whole article feel free to just hit Ctrl+F and type "swan.") On Topic: I've been kinda hoping for a GTA-clone set in a universe where magic exists. For a while. And if Bioware tried that I'd try it.

I checked "other," though what I have in mind is probably close to urban fantasy. Basically, I'd like to see them do a story similar to The Secret World (which I tried and liked at first, but eventually the lack of dialogue choices and the MMO elements made its appeal wear off) or The X-Files, set in the present day with supernatural or sci-fi elements taking place under the general public's radar. I don't necessarily think it has to be in an urban area per se, though.
I'm not really a big fan of the "high fantasy" setting that seems so prevalent in gaming - I tolerate it in the Witcher and Dragon Age games, but I'd rather have a sci-fi, contemporary, or Deus Ex-ish near future setting. Unfortunately the field of RPGs with dialogue choices and character-shaping is pretty thin, so I have to take what I can get.

A non multiplayer RPG. I was exited for the new IP. Knowing it is almost surely multiplayer killed every interest I had.

I'm disappointed to find it's not an RPG, but I'm willing to give it a shot anyway. Unless enough is revealed before I buy it to make me say "screw that."

It might still be a good game, to blow off steam and have fun, but...
The doctors, Drew, David and so many other departures are making more sense now. Thanks EA .

I think that's a bit of an overreaction. They haven't stopped making RPGs, have they?

I think that's a bit of an overreaction. They haven't stopped making RPGs, have they? Perhaps, but do you deny that the company's latest offering have less actual role playing (lack of stat customization, auto dialogue, forced companions, railroaded into the hero role with little evil options, etcetera...) than Bioware games of old?

Yeah, but from what I understand Inquisition was an improvement over DA2 (which I haven't played) in the forced-companions and little-opportunity-to-be-evil areas. And Skyhold (and from all we can see The Tempest) are more customizable than any home base we've ever had to my knowledge. Oh, and we have custom gear which makes up to the lack of stat customization to some degree. So I'm wary, but it's not nearly as gloom and doom as you're painting it.

Thank you for sharing! If it's like Jade Empire, woot! I can't believe they are targeting next March. Holy cow, I am a lucky, lucky girl! Edit: as for evil chars, ME2/ME3 has the best evil protagonists I have played, and SWTOR classic Sith are really good traditional puppy-kicking evil. BioWare is not all about Dragon Age, after all. And by starting a new IP they confirm it, so think about that as trying to do something different than the DA. Now, I am pretty sure Hrungr used to have an info thread with all the info coming on the new IP, but in my excitement I can't find it... aww, and I gotta bookmark it, because I bet more news are coming in the summer. awww....

Considering how nebulous the term "RPG" is, I wonder what they mean exactly by it not being one. It could be that the game has a set protagonist and limited dialogue choices but is still an interactive story.
Or it could just be a linear experience, in which case I doubt it'll be worth its price tag. We'll have to wait to find out.

I am odd, I suppose, but I can't take a set protagonist with any sort of an interactive storytelling. But assuming control of set characters for non-story experience, like a coop or pvp, is totally cool with me. I guess, i just don't like acting out a story with someone else's character?

I want BioWare to recruit designers who are experts of level and environmental design, combat, graphics, and animations because they suck at those three things that could've done better with their games.

Honestly I don't know and I am not even sure I will get into the new IP. My two favorite fictional genres are science fiction space operas and medieval fantasy and ME, SWTOR, and DA already have that covered.
