100 pages of "What did you do today in Mass Effect"!!! That's pretty lengthy given that it's not a controversial thread.
From the Journal of Ioan Shepard:
- Normandy: TIM wants to talk to me. From just the one time (not counting our introduction), I know he's going to send me somewhere I don't want to go. Since I know he set things up on Horizon, I'm now suspicious of anything he tells me. And here's what he said: turians found a Collector ship, disabled it but died in the process and no other turians showed up to investigate. Two-thirds of this are almost certainly a lie, meaning that even the idea that the turians found the ship was suspicious in itself. And how did he find out before other turians? I don't know what TIM is up to here, but he's lying to me. Unfortunately, I can't afford to pass up investigating a Collector ship no matter what the truth of the matter is. - Collector Ship: When we get there, no sign of a turian ship. Also, no sign of a hull breach. But the drive core is offline. Things aren't adding up. Decided Miranda and Kasumi would come in handy here - one, to see if Miranda would flinch when TIM was caught in a lie and, two, because Kasumi's ability to hack might be useful with alien tech. Too bad they're both dead since they have no sealed suits. Also, this is the same ship that showed up on Horizon, a ship that is known to have been tracking me. We found empty pods and piles of dead human bodies. Then we found a dead Collector. EDI said the did a baseline comparison between Collectors and humans. The analysis said that the Collectors were actually protheans, genetically altered to serve the Reapers! It was like the keepers all over again but so much worse. Found a Window sniper rifle that looked like it would be especially lethal. - Further analysis by EDI, at Joker's suggestion, showed that this was also the same Collector ship that destroyed the original Normandy. That means this ship has been following me around for two years. If that's not evidence that I scared the Reapers by killing Sovereign then I don't know what is. It also confirmed that this was a trap but we were in too deep to do anything about it now. We saw enough pods to take every human in the Terminus Systems and still have room for more. It was obvious that Earth was the true target. The only thing I didn't know was the reason why. Miranda very rightly pointed out that the ship lacked dead Collectors. Again, trap. - Activated a control panel to set up a link with the Normandy so EDI could data mine the Collector ship. Then something happened. Some things seemed to be activating on the Collector ship. EDI also said "something" was in her system and we lost contact. She reestablished our connection but was fighting off a systems attack while we fought Collectors. Also, that creepy Harbinger thing kept taking control of Collectors and talking to me. Once our fight was done, I had to re-link the two ships via console. EDI found information to help us navigate the Omega 4 relay. She also found out the distress call was from the Collectors, mimicking the turians. However, EDI also said that there was no way TIM didn't know it was a trap. Suspicions confirmed and I was starting to wonder if TIM wasn't in some way working against us even as he gave us the resources to fight. Could he be partially indoctrinated? It would almost make sense. He wants to help but then is also compelled to obey his masters and work against us. No surprise that Miranda had a hard time accepting it but she was clearly flustered. - At this time the Collector ship started powering up and we needed to be gone. It meant fighting our way back to the shuttle. Harbinger said something weird along the way: "We are your genetic destiny". This controlling thing had all the earmarks of a Reaper. Reminded me of when Sovereign took control of Saren. Why would a Reaper say their kind were the genetic destiny of mine? It made no sense. We escaped just as the ship's weapons were coming online. I was going to have words with TIM about this. - Normandy: I had a chat with TIM. I was pretty clear with him that I could no longer trust his intel. Still, when he told me about a derelict Reaper, I was interested. It would have the needed IFF to get us through the Omega 4 relay without being destroyed by what was on the other side: black holes and exploding suns in the galactic core. I found it unlikely that TIM was sending us into a trap - the same kind, no less - so soon, but if it did turn out to be one I wouldn't be shocked. However, we weren't ready. Joker still said the ship could be better. I hadn't fully followed through with what Sha'ira had told me about seeing to the needs of my crew. Garrus, Jacob, Miranda and Jack still needed attention. I also had a few more allies to recruit, all of whom would presumably have some issues to be dealt with as well. Team building, then Reaper, the Omega 4 and then, if all went well, leaving Cerberus behind. Then I could pursue things like helping Dr. Kenson, the friend of Admiral Hackett. - Had a chat with Mordin about the Collectors. He said they behaved like the indoctrinated and slowly lost intelligence over generations. Tech was put in place to make up for it but in organic terms they were the mental capacity of someone senile with dementia. All their sensory input sent data to the Collectors. He said all their organs were replaced by tech and that they were more like husks than anything else. Just an insult to what they once had been. Better to destroy them completely than have this mockery live on. I agreed. Then he sang, which was downright strange. But my admiration for him grew even more, since he loved both science and art with equal fervor. - Had dinner with Kelly in my cabin. She's a sweet girl. The flirting was all in fun. There's nothing between us but if she leaves Cerberus when I do perhaps we can remain friends. - Pragia: Since I was feeling pissed at TIM, I thought it might feel good to blow up a Cerberus facility. Besides, it would make Jack happy. Given the purpose of this place, I brought along Jacob. I wondered how a biotic who had it good, and tended to apologize for Cerberus, would feel about what he saw. Unfortunately, right off, Jacob decided that the facility had gone rogue. Same as Miranda saying that the Cerberus people I'd encountered in the past were a military cell, as though that somehow absolved Cerberus of their actions. I didn't buy it anyway since they were doing experiments on human subjects, something clearly in the purview of scientists. - Saw an arena. Learned that Jack was pitted against other kids in the facility. They used drugs to make her more violent and shocked her if she help back. No wonder she's so fucked up. Also learned that when Jack escaped her cell that no one was allowed to kill her but that all other subjects were expendable. Like me with Lazarus, she was the whole reason for the Teltin facility's existence. - Someone named Aresh had hired mercenaries to assist him in some way. Allegedly to find salvage but a krogan that we killed said there wasn't much there. Aresh was in Jack's old cell, which is where we were headed. As it turned out, Aresh was a survivor of Teltin, but he was even more insane than Jack. He had it in his head that he would restart Tetlin to do what they hadn't. Except that they had. Jack was extremely powerful. The thing was, he was claiming that he and the mercs were rebuilding Teltin. That was clearly not the case. He was delusional. Jack wanted to kill him and was prepared to do it. I talked her down, telling her that he was trapped in the past, incapable of restarting anything, and that she would be free by leaving him alone and blowing this place to hell. Anxiety was all over Jack's face as she played with the detonator's trigger. I banged on the walls of the shuttle to signal it was time. She set off the bomb, Teltin exploded, and we rode out the shockwave as we flew toward the Normandy. Jack got one of my special new outfits to mark her as mine.

fraggle : Really do love those Mom chats. It's something missing from the MET. Spacer Shep talking to Mom a total of two times in the entire trilogy - and one only in dlc - really doesn't cut it. Also, that Tali dialogue! Never got that before. Then again, I always bring Kaidan [everywhere] and then Liara because...Mom. Thank you And I agree so much. More interaction would've definitely been nice. I think Tali's line only happens if you are a Spacer and by picking the Renegade answer, I was also surprised to hear it. Like you, I often bring Kaidan and Liara to Noveria, and I only have the second Spacer of all of my Sheps. 100 pages of "What did you do today in Mass Effect"!!! Melody Shepard, Colonist/Sole Survivor/Infiltrator, ME2 Insanity: Before returning to Tuchanka's surface, Melody spent a little time with Tali, who confessed to trusting her captain enough to link suits; and Jack, who talked a little about her past adventures, including large-scale vandalism. Mordin requested help in tracking down Maelon, his protégé who had assisted with the genophage modification project, and who had gone missing near the Urdnot camp. Urdnot's chief scout provided intel that a salarian had been seen in the custody of Clan Weyrloc, founders of the Blood Pack. Melody took a krogan armoured car to Weyrloc territory with Mordin and Jack (for Squad Warp Ammo). The route to Weyrloc's base was patrolled by Blood Pack krogan and their vorcha lackeys, with some varren and klixen for good measure. None caused any trouble for the Normandy trio. Along the way, Melody salvaged a working combustion manifold from an otherwise-totalled armoured vehicle. Weyrloc's base was a converted hospital. Upon entering, the team found evidence of experiments performed on live human captives. Mordin was disgusted, theorizing that Maelon was being forced to attempt a genophage cure against his will. The party were "greeted" by the Weyrloc "clanspeaker", an emissary who liked the sound of his own ranting voice. Unfortunately for him, he was standing directly above a gas main. Melody blew him up, then the squad ducked into cover to neutralize his bodyguards. After a tough fight (two player deaths, until I figured out the best place to take cover), they proceeded into the base. Further into the complex, the team found more evidence of live experimentation, this time on krogan. Mordin wasn't just disgusted; he seemed upset, and explained more about his genophage work. He truly believed it to be the best thing for both the galaxy and the krogan. He had taken care to return the krogan's birth rate to its natural, pre-industrial level. Even so, the work had weighed heavily; he had taken annual trips back to Tuchanka to inspect the environment and remind himself what he had been a part of. Retiring from STG to open a clinic on Omega had helped him work through the emotional issues. The team happened upon Clan Urdnot's scout who had been experimented on, but was still alive, albeit sick and a little delusional. Melody goaded him into pulling himself together. The innermost section of the base was guarded by Weyrloc's chief, the battlemaster Garm, and his elite bodyguards and varren. Melody kept them at a distance with her sniper rifle as best she could, relying on Mordin and Jack to damage their armour and keep them off their feet. The battle culminated with intense close-quarters fighting using the Eviscerator and Firestorm (two player deaths; kiting the krogan back up the ramp seemed to work better than meeting them on the lower level). With Weyrloc's forces defeated, the party entered the lab to rescue Maelon... only to find that he was acting of his own volition, aiming to cure the genophage to ease his conscience. Appalled at the ethical lines crossed by his former protégé, Mordin drew a pistol and executed him on the spot. After a brief discussion, Mordin and Melody decided to destroy Maelon's research; not only was it criminal, but they both agreed that the krogan still needed the genophage, and that the research was too dangerous to keep. (And so the stage is set for ME3; given that I will not play Paragade again, and will always ensure that Wrex is in charge in future playthroughs, I may as well take this one opportunity to see the negative version of the ME3 krogan arc). Before returning to the Normandy, Melody took the time to check in with Urdnot's chief scout to ensure that his man made it back to the camp, and to deliver the combustion manifold to Urdnot's mechanic. Melody was itching to get back into space, so the Normandy set course for the Rosetta Nebula to do some exploring. Blue Suns comms signals were detected from an archaeological site on the planet Joab, so Melody took Garrus and Kasumi to investigate. Together, they cleared the Blue Suns out of the site (two deaths again, herp derp; and the squad didn't fare much better, glad it's not just me ), recovered a Prothean artefact and obtained intel about some cargo being carried by a freighter, the MSV Strontium Mule. That wraps it up for the loyalty missions. I reached level 30 after that last N7 mission; so just the health bonus to pick up from the Strontium Mule, then I think it'll be time to hit the derelict Reaper.

Well, here's my next contribution to the goal of reaching 1000 pages Laura Shepard, Colonist, Sole Survivor After a very, very long nap and some existential soul-searching, Shepard dragged herself out of bed to check her messages. Her crew, past and present, still wanted to socialize with her, or maybe just wanted to reassure themselves that they hadn't accidentally saved the clone. Though Garrus was sharing Anderson's apartment with Shepard, he usually made himself scarce for these meetings, claiming he had plans with Vega. Shepard assumed he was yanking her chain when he called these outings dance lessons. Miranda came over for a surprisingly warm chat, and then Tali invited herself over to make Shepard watch Fleet and Flotilla, the vid that inspired Garrus's taste in music as well as his date ideas. Javik, bless his gullible ancient heart, accidentally got Shepard a bit part in a Blasto rip-off of Shepard's own career. Shepard was not amused, and did not stick to the script. Shepard spent quite a bit of time at the Armax Arena with various friends and crew, racking up enough points to break the scoreboard, and also racking up lots of creepy fan mail. She went to meet Traynor for lunch, only to find out Sam had forgotten about their outing completely, having gotten busy trying to beat a very arrogant asari at space chess. On her way out of the arcade to actually get lunch this time, Shepard stopped at the claw machine. She managed to score a volus plushie, some shitty music, and an ultralight materials mod for her assault rifle (which I actually wanted, so yay). That evening, Liara came over. The song she plays for Shepard is one of the best in the game, I think, so here's a clip of it from YouTube for anyone who's in the mood to listen. Vega barged his way in to show off his new N7 tattoo. Shepard, though pleased that Vega would be joining the program, was a little annoyed with his presumptuousness. She reminded him that he hadn't earned the designation yet. Then, he tried to get Shepard to explain how she and Garrus managed to get it on, but refused to just ask plainly. Shepard played dumb. Then Shepard beat Vega's pull-up record, which I have already whined about I was sure I'd get at least a joke at the end or something, but no. If I had a soul, it would have died a little from doing this. At this point, my window froze and I had to reload the page, losing a chunk of the post in the process. Perhaps it was BSN's way of telling me I am droning on too much. Well, joke's on you, BSN! I'm continuing! Joy-riding with Cortez, shooting with Jack, and gift-talk with EDI are kind of lame compared to the other meetups, but they still happened. Shepard got called away early from her outing with Cortez. C-Sec needed her to come collect a certain tank-bred krogan, who was being held on charges of destruction of public property. I think this is one of the funniest outings in the DLC, along with Javik's and Joker's. This was a new outing for me this time, since I had Kaidan on my last PT. Shepard met Ashley at the bar, where they got drunk and had their own version of the Star Wars cantina scene. The batarian doesn't like Shepard. The vorcha doesn't like her either. Shepard and Ashley don't give a damn. Watching bioti-ball with Cortez and Vega. Garrus bails again, claiming dance lessons...with Ashley this time. Aaaah, Joker trying to impress the asari barkeeper. Shepard played along. She just couldn't stand to crush Joker's prickly heart that way. Shepard met Miranda again for some gambling, drinking, and...girl talk? After Miranda left, though, Shepard noticed something odd stuck to the bar, and as soon as she went to investigate, in wandered Kasumi. Stealing from the rich, giving to the...less rich. Shepard turned a blind eye and went upstairs for a beer. Instead she found Wrex, lamenting his newfound popularity with krogan females, which Bakara was apparently completely ok with. His and Kasumi's meetups were new for me as well. Kasumi's was fine, but I greatly enjoyed Wrex's. The next morning, Jack showed up with her pet varren. Shepard gave up trying to explain to Jack why this choice of pet was amusing. Samara's meetup was the only one that I think is disappointing. It could have been funny or insightful, but somehow manages to be neither. Samara ends her made-up stories about people before she actually says anything, especially for Shepard's. It's a missed opportunity, I think. Garrus asked Shepard out on a date. An actual date, not a "let's go shoot holographic thugs at the arena while shitfaced" date. They started out with a bit of roleplay, pretending they just met, Garrus letting his eye wander teasingly to a nearby turian female. But then the music changed and, well, it turned out Garrus really had been taking dancing lessons from Vega. Next time, a few favorite parts of the party, then Cerberus Headquarters and the stabbity death of Kai Leng.

From the Journal of Ioan Shepard:
- Citadel: We were searching for a man named Fade who had made Garrus's traitorous squadmate disappear. What we found was a volus flanked by two krogan bodyguards. Having just taken down a thresher maw on foot followed by a squad of krogan, this was a joke. When Garrus told them to scram they didn't even argue. At this point the volus gave up Fade, who was none other than the corrupt C-Sec officer Harkin. He was being protected by the Blue Suns but killing mercs was a hobby for me. We fought our way to Harkin and he very grudgingly gave up the location of Sidonis under the guise of his identity being compromised. We just had to walk in and Garrus could take him in with a shot to the head from a sniper rifle. I just didn't think this was the solution. Not for Garrus, anyway. So when I got close to Sidonis to distract him I took the opportunity to talk to him and keep myself between the two of them. Sidonis had sold out his team to save himself but he was suffering for it with tremendous guilt. It was enough to convince Garrus that it wasn't worth killing him. Garrus thanked me in the end. Also, Harkin was taken into C-Sec custody. Unlike the others, I didn't give Garrus a new outfit. He was Garrus. He could wear whatever the hell he liked. - Normandy: Email from Cerberus said TIM had order Teltin shut down before Jack escaped. I assume this is another Cerberus lie. What I don't think is a lie is Kelly's offer to feed my fish. I took her up on that. I also asked her to pet the space hamster. - Capek: The Hahne-Kedar Corporation maintained a facility here. It was the source of the rogue mechs that were attacking anything in their path. Some logs said it was initially a particular type of processor that made the mechs faulty but that it eventually infected even mechs without that processor. Seemed to be a virus. To her credit, the security director sealed herself inside of the assembly plant to prevent the mechs from escaping. Managed to fight my way to the center and activate the self-destruct program for every mech in the facility. I could understand how a faulty processor could make a mech go rogue but not how it turned into a virus and transmitted itself. I still said it was an AI and that maybe the Collectors or the Reapers were behind it. Makes the most sense. 2175 Aeia: This was the location of the distress beacon for the MSV Hugo Gernsback, the ship Jacob's father had been first officer of when it went missing a decade ago. The strange thing is that there had been no beacon for ten years and now it was suddenly active. Very suspicious. The ship had crashed and remained mostly intact but EDI detected no life signs within. A partial log suggested something was affecting the mental state of most of the crew and that they were being abused by the officers. More logs spoke of memory loss, but also becoming simpletons. It was beginning to look like the captain died in the crash and that Ronald Taylor took over but there were doubts about his ability to command. The VI beacon, which did not look newly assembled, said it had been paused for almost nine years by Taylor but the reasons why were deleted. It also said that the local flora caused neural decay and was cumulative, though unknown if permanent. - Found a survivor. She seemed to know her thinking was off but that made no difference. She said hunters were after her and Taylor. They actually showed up at that moment, armed and thinking us to be "agents of the liar". We took them out and made our way to a settlement. This group was docile and entirely female. One of them said Taylor forced them to eat the local food and that Jacob was cursed with his face. There was spoiled food in a crate from the Gernsback. One woman also said that Taylor protected them and that they pleased him like he demanded. This was not looking good. At all. We took out some mechs and then a woman brought us a datapad. She couldn't read it but it told of a nightmare. Eating local flora had been necessity at first but then Taylor exiled the male crew members and assigned the females to officers. Then, after the beacon was fixed, Taylor turned the mechs on the other officers. - We fought through mechs and brainwashed guards. Finally, we found him, standing in his own private area, looking unconcerned. He tried to claim that he had been made a prisoner and propped up by the others as a god. We had already seen the damning evidence. Rape, murder and worse. Jacob thought about killing him but didn't have it in him. Nor should he have. It was tempting to leave him there to his fate, or to give him to gun to put himself out of his own misery, but thought it best that the survivors - should we be able to restore their minds - could see justice. Returning him to face a trial and prison was the best bet. I think even Jacob would sleep better at night for it. Normandy: Jacob assumed TIM had leaked the information about the Gernsback but that wasn't the case. Miranda was behind it, having followed through on some promise she made to him years ago. Still, Jacob was now loyal to me for the resolution of this issue. New outfit for him to make it clear. Joab: Blue Suns were present, which meant I was bringing Zaeed along. He loved getting in shots at the organization he had been ousted from. Joab actually hosted a prothean dig site and there was a valuable artifact inside that the Blue Suns had wanted. Logs said ExoGeni had hired the mercs, who then turned on them. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch. Another one said something had been taken to the MSV Strontium Mule. At the center of this site was a prothean video log standing before a small pyramid. I risked activating it and got another vision. This one was slightly different than what I'd seen before. Maybe my mind could just better understand. Instead of seeing creatures that looked like the statues on Ilos, I saw beings that looked more like the Collectors dying at the hands of the Reapers. Of course, both visions could be true. Those other aliens could have met the same fate. - Normandy: Cargo of interest to Cerberus could be found on the MSV Strontium Mule and I received coordinates to it. Also got a message from Leslie, the first survivor we'd encountered on Aeia. She's beginning to slowly recover her mental faculties and is very grateful to Jacob and I. Very few stop to thank us, and it isn't necessary, but I don't mind it once in a while. - MSV Strontium Mule: This was the ship Cerberus wanted me to track down. I normally don't care what they want but eliminating a ship full of Blue Suns mercs was always a nice side mission. We found an area with desiccated bodies. Didn't know if the Blue Suns were behind that or if they'd found the ship derelict. A log I found showed that the captain had been alive when the Blue Suns came aboard. Another log said that they had answered a distress call that was actually a Blue Suns trap. Killed all the mercs and retrieved the payload. - Sanctum: There was a Blue Suns base here and the location of the false distress signals. It was actually a closed mining facility that they had taken over. Cleared it of mercs and destroyed the fake beacon. - Franklin: A human colony was being attacked by Javelin missiles and I had to stop them. Batarians were behind it. EDI gave me a 5 minute countdown until the missiles hit two sites. Got there with plenty of time but there was only one kill switch. That meant one site was going to be destroyed. It had to choose between a residential area or the spaceport. Losing the spaceport would mean the end of the colony but what good was a colony if all the people were dead? I chose to save the residential district. The colonists would have to relocate but it was better than being dead. Balak better not be behind this because I swear that guy is going to die if I ever see him again.

dragontartare: Dramatic chipmunk is dramatic. Though, I wonder if it ought not have been a dramatic hamster. Also, if BSN was concerned with people droning on then surely we wouldn't have 1000+ pages devoted to Jaal or Character Romance. At least our droning is all in fun. We're writing out playthroughs because we love it so much!

It's from 2007 so not sure why it might exist under two different names. EDIT: For good measure, there's also "Dramatic Fish", which is applicable to Shepard.

Melody Shepard, Colonist/Sole Survivor/Infiltrator, ME2 Insanity: The Normandy flew to the Omega Nebula, on the trail of the MSV Strontium Mule. The ship was derelict and adrift. Melody picked Zaeed and Tali for the boarding party; they were greeted by a Blue Suns welcoming committee who put up little resistance. The party swept through the ship, neutralized the Blue Suns pirates and recovered the cargo. (One death, in the fight on the ramp where there is very little cover; I got into chest-high immediately opposite a trooper who just fired over it. Would've been a good place for an over-cover grab in ME3, though ) The Illusive Man had provided intel regarding a derelict Reaper from which a Cerberus team had acquired an IFF device that would permit safe passage through the Omega 4 relay. Feeling that this mission would be dangerous and might bring their campaign to a premature end, Melody took a last opportunity to check the shops in the hub worlds for upgrades (and model ships), and then spent some time with her comrades: - Mordin was at peace with the events that had taken place on Tuchanka;
- Urdnot Grunt was revelling in his new place in a clan, feeling that it gave him a new reason to fight;
- Zaeed's stories were ever more disturbing. Kasumi had no new gossip, but passed some time with small talk;
- Thane spoke more about the sunset-eyed Irikah who had been his wife, and gave Melody a nickname in his own language, which she found pleasing and intriguing. But he's dying, and this is a suicide mission...
- Miranda discussed the good and bad aspects of Cerberus, and confessed to feeling inadequate in spite of her genetic blessings;
- Jacob seemed to exhibit a more-than-comrades interest in his CO. Melody tried to choose her words carefully, but came away with the impression that she'd only managed to encourage him.
Approaching the derelict Reaper, the crew were concerned to encounter a geth vessel alongside it. Melody selected Garrus (Incisor, Squad AP Ammo) and Thane (Incisor, Warp) for the boarding party. The Reaper turned out to be less derelict than it had appeared, trapping the team aboard by raising its kinetic barriers. With no alternative but to locate and shut down the drive core, the team pressed on. They found clear evidence of the Cerberus team having been indoctrinated; observed human corpses impaled on dragons' teeth; and were mobbed by many, many Husks, with some grisly Scion gestalts for good measure. As they fought through the ship, they were assisted by a sniper who turned out to be a lone geth unit cosplaying as an N7, and who addressed Melody by name and rank before slipping back into the shadows. Having struggled past a small army of Husks (just how large are these Cerberus science teams?), Melody acquired the IFF. The engine room was only a little further in; the team found the geth unit there, apparently attempting a clean shutdown of the core, but it was taken offline by a mob of Husks. Aware that ever more Husks closing in, there was no time to attempt a core bypass, so Melody nuked it with the Cain. With nothing sustaining the Reaper's orbit around the brown dwarf Mnemosyne, the team high-tailed it out of there, taking the inert geth with them. The second half of this mission was nasty! The first half was fine; the quantity of Husks was manageable; but in the second half, I just got monstered trying to fight them and died a few times before switching tactics. What I ended up doing was to just run past the spawn points, using Tactical Cloak when it wasn't on cooldown. I saw the game autosaving at each checkpoint I passed. I didn't last long when I reached the two Scions at the end; but after the reload, the mob of Husks that had been chasing me was obviously gone, so there were just the two Scions and a few small waves of Husks to deal with. There's plenty of cover there and the Husk waves seemed a bit smaller, so it didn't take much effort to clear. I brought the wrong squad, really. Zaeed and Mordin might have been better, as I have both their fire powers at rank 4 with the area-of-effect evolutions, so they'd have been good for anti-armour crowd control. This might be worth remembering for the Long Walk part of the SM. The Insanity achievement is only a few more missions away. I've come this far, I hope the SM doesn't thwart me!

Yeah, it's nice to have area powers against armor on this mission. Then you can use a variety of squaddies though to get rid of unarmored husks, like Mordin with Cryo Blast, Jack/Jacob with Pull, Samara with Throw etc., since all these kill unprotected husks instantly. Garrus's Concussive Blast should work too though. Good luck for the rest of your Insanity run. You can do it!

From the Journal of Ioan Shepard: 2175 Aeia: This was the location of the distress beacon for the MSV Hugo Gernsback, the ship Jacob's father had been first officer of when it went missing a decade ago. This is one of the missions that no matter what class I play, I bring someone else and ALWAYS Zaeed or Kasumi with me. Just for the finale (and the comments between the logs). I left Jacob's father there whille we arrange help and transportation to the rest of the crew, while Ronald Taylor have to deal with the holes we punched through his mechs. An then listen with a warm hearth to his question about what will happen to be left alone with the rest of the hunters and Kasumi or Zaeed saying that yes, we know what will happen to him. Man, Joker is right, Zaeed IS like Shepard. The only diference is he takes money to do the stuff. LOL The guy is even capable to hold the line alone and by himslef against thousand of Collectors if he's loyal. PS: Question of the day: Shepard is a criminal or not?

From the Journal of Ioan Shepard:
- Tarith: There's a Blood Pack communications relay on the planet, as well as krogan, vorcha and an unknown species. The unknown turned out to be the klixen, the dragon bugs that were also on Tuchanka. Destroyed the communications tower and eliminated the mercs. - Helyme: Mining facility taken over by Eclipse mercs. Found a mainframe with some encrypted intel. Set a program to decrypt it. It finished while we took out the mercs. Unfortunately, it wasn't up to the task and needed further decryption. - Illium: This was run by the asari. When I landed, I was informed by docking fees had been paid for by Liara T'Soni, one of the planet's "most respected information brokers". That was in line with TIM believing she worked for the Shadow Broker. I decided to put that on hold while attending to Miranda's concerns about her "genetic twin". - On the way, talked to an asari who passed on a message from the rachni queen, who said she had gone off to raise a new generation in peace. I'd hoped it was true, but the fact that she implanted the message in another person and wiped the information of her whereabouts from said mind didn't exactly set my mind at ease. However, the implication of the message is those who had turned the rachni violent were those I sought. Didn't know if that meant collectors or reapers. She also said they would fight by our side when the war came. - Ran into Gianna Parasini, who was investigating corruption on Illium. She asked for my help with an asari who was selling unreleased tech. Easy enough, and I got some really sweet tech at a discount. - Conrad Verner was here wearing a replica of my N7 armor. He was under the belief that the bar was selling red sand, but it was actually legal on Illium. Another merchant had told him to investigate. I'd get to it after Miranda's problems were solved

brfritos: I'd done the Renegade option with Ronald Taylor but I'm playing nearly full Paragon this time around. That means I put him in jail. As to your question, it depends. If you've had your Spectre status reinstated, you can do just about anything legally. How you deal with criminal activity is your business. If you're not a Spectre, you're simply a member of a terrorist organization with whom it's treason to be involved with. In that case, it hardly matters what you do.

No, which is why I was confused by the comment above about bringing "someone else" + either Zaeed or Kasumi. How do you bring someone else if Jacob is required?

"Good morning, honey." "Hi mom, come in." "So... how was your session?" "It was fine. It'll still be a lot of work though. Lots of small exercises. But I walked a bit further with my crutches than last time." "Sounds good. I hope your leg will be fine soon." "I'm sure it will be. It's a tiny miracle I'm alright other than that." "It truly is. Which means you're here, you're fine - thank God - aaaand you're good to go." "Nice hint, ma. Yes, yes, we'll continue right away. We left at... ah yeah, after Noveria we returned to the Citadel to pick up some more supplies and I wanted to talk to Udina to see if there was anything new. But he was just pissed that he had to smooth things over with the Council after my actions on Noveria... even though he patted me on the back for them and agreed with my choice. That was at least something. Before all this Noveria business the Council had told me they had received a message from a salarian team that investigated Saren's activities on-site, but it was only static, so they didn't know any details. I asked Anderson about Virmire, but he knew nothing about it, so afterwards we set course. Shortly after leaving the Citadel I received a message from Hackett, and he told me that someone was killing former Alliance scientists over the past month. He told me they were connected to me. To what happened on Akuze. He transmitted the last known location of a scientist involved. So I went to check it out. Hackett was right. I found Dr. Wayne in a facility on Ontarom. But not only him. Corporal Toombs was in there, a gun aimed at Wayne. I was shocked to see him. I didn't know he had survived. He told me the scientists had found him and treated him like a lab rat for years. And not only that. They were the ones who had run tests on the thresher maws. They let them hit us, to study them. What happend to our whole unit was just an experiment. The worst of it all was that Cerberus was behind it. They did this to my unit. And I worked with them. These fu--" "Honey, please stay calm. You're okay. It's okay." "Sorry. I just get angry thinking about what they did to us. To my friends. And to everyone, till the very end. I've accepted what happened on Akuze and I got over it, but I will never forgive Cerberus for it. Or anything that came after." "I know. And I'm so sorry for everything you've been through. But it's over now, isn't it?" "Yeah. It is. Well Toombs, he... he wanted to shoot the scientist, and I wanted to do it myself after hearing he was part of this sick experiment. But that wasn't who I am, that wasn't how I was raised. So I asked him to let me take Wayne in, and he agreed. A ship of the Fifth Fleet was called in to pick him up. While we waited for them, nobody said anything. Not Tali and not Kaidan. I didn't want them to pity me, but I didn't say anything either. I hated they caught a glimpse of my past, but in the end, maybe it helped. I opened up to Tali. Kaidan became my friend." "And you're opening up to me. Not so bad, hm?" "No. Not at all. It's... kind of good to get all this off my chest." "I'm really glad you feel that way. Um, what happened to Toombs in the end? How is he?" "Last I heard from him was an e-mail he sent me while I was with Cerberus. He wasn't very kind, but I don't blame him. I know how it must've looked to him." "Poor sod." "Yeah. I hope he's okay. Well... so there was one more thing we did before touching down on Virmire. Garrus had told me about something that had happened in his past. He once had a case where a salarian geneticist used his staff as walking test tubes. He grew organs inside them to sell these to the black market." "What?! That's sick. Impossible!" "Hard to believe, yeah. Back then he got away from Garrus, but not a second time. Garrus had a lead and we checked it out. The guy was holed up in his freighter, his test subjects running free. I guess he would've starved eventually if we hadn't found him." "What happened then?" "Garrus wanted to kill him right away, but I wanted to take him in for questioning. The doc turned hostile though, so he died anyway. No loss here I suppose." "I suppose not. Oh well. Say... Do you mind if I quickly grab a coffee? I promise I'll hurry." "The story won't run away, ma." "I know! I'm just eager to hear it all." "Really... never would've guessed." Screenies: The Akuze sidequest was great, really enjoyed it. It's been a while since I had a Sole Survivor. I can't wait to get into ME2 and hate a little on TIM and Cerberus

Yes. Can you imagine bringing someone other than Jack to blow the Teltin facility? It would hardly have the same effect.
No, which is why I was confused by the comment above about bringing "someone else" + either Zaeed or Kasumi. How do you bring someone else if Jacob is required?
Yeah, I don't know. Maybe he's misremembering the mission or confusing parts of it with someone else. Possibility is this: he uses a save game editor to remove Jacob and put someone else in his place.
