DerekG: Heart-to-heart under a burning beam, yeah? Love that! I wrote something similar a while back, noting it's the only way to get him to fully cooperate (with loyalty). It's necessary to out-badass the badass. aoibhealfae: Is your Shepard flirting with Kaidan?! I approve. I also think Ethan Jeong totally deserves a shot in the head but my current trilogy run is Paragon so can't do it.

completed ME1
- went to Eden Prime to visit some friends - I met with a travel agent on the Citadel to give me suggestions on what places to visit - on Feros I did some camping - Went to Noveria to do some skiing - sat on the beach soaking up some rays on Virmire - went to Therum to see a volcano - Ilos was alright. Just a little too quite for my taste - went back to the Citadel to see if the travel agent had other places I could visit

From the Journal of Ioan Shepard:
- Haestrom: It was past time I recruited Tali. Though I wanted someone else I could trust, I also hated putting her in suicidal danger. I know she can handle herself but sometimes still think of her as a young girl on her Pilgrimage. Apparently this world was once a quarian colony but as with every other quarian world, it was now controlled by the geth. And Tali was here. - The sun was seriously dangerous here. I watched it fry a beetle and it destroyed shields. Problem there was when it came to fighting geth. A log I found mentioned something about Tali, saying she was the only one who mattered. Found a radio on a dead quarian that put me in tough with Kal'Reegar. As we headed toward Tali we came across Reegar, who was literally the last man standing. He was armed against a rocket launcher against the geth, including an unusually large geth colossus. Also, it had a repair protocol never before seen that allowed it to huddle up and repair, making it difficult to destroy. I convinced Reegar not to throw his life away on an assault, instead watching our backs as we went in. That colossus was super badass but it ultimately went down. Getting in close enough, and having a Disintegration Beam (aka, the Collector Particle Beam), made all the difference. - Tali said that Haestrom's sun was behaving like a star entering its red giant phase but that this one wasn't nearly old enough. After all, it had been a quarian colony 300 years ago and it wouldn't have changed so dramatically in that time. She said dark energy was behind it, which was also the same energy used to create mass effect fields - by technology and biotics alike. I wonder if we were part of the problem. Then she joined my team. Normandy: Jacob greeted Tali but she wasn't interested. She was there for me and made it clear she distrusted Cerberus. Still, Jacob had to get one last jab in, telling Tali to introduce herself to EDI, the ship's AI. He knows quarian/geth history as well as anyone so he really was just being a dick about it. Now, not that I was doubtful, but Tali immediately proved her useful in the eyes of anyone who cared to look. She helped us seriously upgrade our shields so the Collectors would not tear the ship in half again. To be honest, I wasn't looking forward to dying in space again. Though, I actually did trust Ken and Gabby. They left the Alliance over arguments concerning me, after my death. They also seemed clueless about the true nature of Cerberus. I'd probably take them along with me if we survived this mission since I had no intention of remaining with Cerberus. I got a message from the quarians saying Tali's transfer was approved. Of course, she was already on my ship so we weren't overly concerned. - Kopis: This was the location of the prothean artifact that some scientists were tracking. First thing we found inside the ruins was a dead Blue Suns merc, and a datapad said they had been hired to protect the scientists. Then a journal said one of the scientists was indoctrinated and had sent data to the geth. Last journal said the other scientist was also indoctrinated, knew it, and killed himself. However, it seems he sold information about the relic to the Collectors in exchange for sparing a particular human colony. It was an enormous orb, much like the one on Eletania. I wondered what visions this one would give me. Instead, however, it shrunk down to beach ball size, though considerably heavier. - Normandy: The prothean relic made a nice piece of art for the table in my cabin. It pulsed when touched by otherwise did nothing discernible. Or so I thought until I read my messages. It send out a coded burst, mostly unintelligible, except for some data on biotics - Tali wanted to talk. She had been accused of treason and had to report back for trial. I wondered if it had anything to do with serving on a Cerberus ship. I figured that, though Samara and Thane also had some concerns, this one would take priority. And I'd do that as soon as I finished exploring this cluster. - Gei Hinnom: A quarian ship crashed here and was looking for immediate assistance. I think even Tali would be on board with this detour. Logs said it was evading some geth when it crashed. Makes sense since they were in geth territory. This was a jungle planet and there was only one survivor who was under attack by varren. We stabilized her and kept her safe until a shuttle could take us out. Maybe this would look good at the trial. - The Migrant Fleet: We found out that she was being charged with bringing active geth aboard the fleet, though she says it was only parts and pieces. When we encountered Admiral Shala'Raan, a friend of Tali's, she referred to Tali as "Tali'Zorah vas Normandy". They altered her name to reflect the Cerberus ship she was serving aboard, but specifically for the purposes of the trial. That was certainly meant to suggest disloyalty. As her captain, I also had to speak on her behalf. One admiral objected to a human being involved in something so sensitive but Raan pointed out that he was the one responsible for the name change and had to accept what followed from it. He withdrew the objection. Then it came out that geth had activated aboard the ship Alarei and killed everyone on board, her father included. I said we should put the trial on hold and retake the Alarei. They agreed, saying that if Tali died on the mission her name would be cleared of charges. Got a chance to talk to some people before heading out. Xen had an interesting take, saying the trial was really about whether the quarians should try to reclaim the geth as servants or withdraw and colonize a new homeworld. Kal'Reegar was there because he argued against the trial but had also suggested sending her to the Alarei. - The Alarei: Since I knew there was bad blood between Cerberus and the quarians, I brought Garrus along with me. He wasn't a criminal and he wasn't Cerberus. First log I found talked about not following security protocols in the interest of time. That was a problem right there. Second log said that all of the geth were networked and in the system. Third log was of a quarian being attacked by the geth and sending a message to her son, Jonah, that she loved him. Fourth log said they were trying to hack the systems of the geth, which would make them slaves once again. Hard to fully process that idea since because it sounds all too much like indoctrination. - We found the body of Rael'Zorah. He'd left a message for Tali and said what was needed to stop the geth processes aboard the Alarei. Then we found the evidence that they were intentionally activating the geth, also that Rael had made sure Tali never sent any working geth parts. His reasons? He said he'd promised to build Tali a house on the homeworld and intended to make it happen. And, yet, Tali didn't want this evidence to come out. It would save her but wipe her father's name from all records. It would be like he never existed. - The Rayya: When we returned, they were declaring Tali dead, since previous attempts at reclaiming the Alarei had met with defeat. They wanted evidence to clear Tali but I couldn't give that to them. Instead, I reminded them of how Tali was instrumental in fighting against the geth when they attacked the Citadel, or how to helped reclaim the Alerai. I suggested they look to her for guidance regarding the geth not throw her away. Apparently, they agreed because she was pardoned. I also said they shouldn't go to war with the geth. I told them the Reapers were coming and they'd be needed in the fight. Any war with the geth would only weaken them, if not outright destroy them. I think it fell on deaf ears, except for those or Koris - the guy I didn't like because he's the one who leveled the charges against Tali. In any case, she returned with me, keeping her new name. - Normandy: Finally got Joker to admit to him liking someone. He said he'd always like Tali! Rarely a good word to be said of anyone else. High praise indeed.

On this run I will not talk to any of the Cerberus crew (well except Kelly, who I headcanon to have approached Shepard first. Just to refuse her help ), including Miranda and Jacob. I assume they still come forward with their loyalty missions, but it'll be interesting to see what happens. No squadmate comes to Shepard about a loyalty mission. The player has to go talk with squadmate. If you don't talk to Miranda and Jacob, both could die on the suicide mission. Miranda will die in ME3 no matter what. If you choose to do the ex-Cerberus scientists missions, Jacob will survive. If its not completed, his name will appear on the memorial wall after completing Cronos I should've worded that better I meant that Jacob likely still comes forward and mentions unfinished business for everyone in the crew, because it's a scene that happens no matter what, right? I didn't know though if Jacob and Miranda immediately give me their LM when I talk to them for the first time at that point. Some progress from last night: "Ah, it's really nice out here." "It sure is. But do you want to go back to your room now?" "We can stay a while. I wanted to tell you about Kasumi and the heist anyway." "The heist?" "Yes. It was the time we attended a party and sneaked into a rich guy's vault to get something back that belonged to Kasumi's former partner." "Okay, wait. You're telling me you broke into some vault? You?" "Heh. Yeah, I did. This guy was a scumbag, ma. An arms dealer. And he had killed Kasumi's lover because he wanted his graybox." "What's a graybox?" "It's a neural implant that can store information. Even memories. I could understand why Kasumi wanted it back." "Yeah, me too. Hard to lose someone like that." "It didn't really go as planned though. As soon as we were inside the vault, this guy, Hock, sent his mercs after us. We had to fight our way out and even kill Hock himself in the end. Kasumi pulled off some crazy stunt to help take down his gunship." "Gunship? Do I really want to know?" "Probably not. It all went fine, don't worry. So, we had the graybox and Kasumi accessed it. Her dead lover had information that could've implied the Alliance severly. He asked Kasumi to destroy the graybox, because he was afraid it'd make Kasumi a target." "I see. What did she do?" "She didn't want to lose him again of course, but I offered to destroy it on her behalf, and she agreed." "Oh... how sad." "Maybe it was for the best. She got some closure." "I guess you're right. Hm. I've never heard about this Hock." "Should've seen his collection, mom. He had the head of the Statue of Liberty inside that vault." "No way!" "Yeah. It was crazy. But everything during that time was crazy. Because next, I decided to head towards Omega in order to follow through with all these dossiers. But on the way we stopped at Korlus, and picked up a baby krogan bred in a tank." "A baby... krogan?!" "Well, he was a full-grown krogan, but he was… new. As I said, crazy times. I was actually supposed to talk to his "father" about the Collectors, to get more information on them. A krogan warlord who wanted to breed the perfect krogan to defy the genophage. His name was Okeer. He had started to send all the imperfect krogan to a faction of a merc band called Blue Suns - you will hear more often about them - but they now wanted to kill Okeer because their leader couldn't control the krogan properly. In exchange for information on the Collectors I was to get rid of the leader, and I did. But Okeer died anyway due to toxins released in his lab, and all that was left was that one krogan. His legacy. And we took him aboard the Normandy. I didn't let him out right away, I had to consider whether that was the right decision." "I assume you did later on?" "Yeah. And after some initial complications I got used to him, too. His name is Grunt." "You sure met a lot of interesting people and aliens in your life." "Interesting doesn't even cut it... everyone was unique in their own way. Sure, I didn't like some of those people I had to work with, but the majority was just fine." "So tell me about who you met next!" "Alright, alright, mom!" More pics: Dressed up for the occasion. Vault business. Met Rana too. He's da boss. So I died once in each mission and I had some shitty bugs In the vault Shepard wouldn't move anymore at some point after the mercs attacked, even though I could look around with the camera. Maybe he Stasis'd himself On Korlus, Kasumi froze and I couldn't use her anymore and had to reload at some point. In general, I pretty much solo'd a few sections of this mission because the squad was too stupid to follow orders into cover. I refuse to give them Medi-Gel for that behaviour Also, it was the first time I thought about using the tank to get rid of the second wave of enemies in that one room during Kasumi's LM, and it was beautiful!

I haven't been able to actually play ME in days All I have left to do is Earth, so maybe I'll have enough time tonight. Anyway, here's the party bit of my PT. I did all the calm party scenes, then reloaded and did all the wild ones Laura Shepard, Colonist, Sole Survivor A couple of days before repairs on the Normandy were scheduled to be completed, Shepard threw an enormous party for the crew, past and present. Chakwas and the engineering staff were unavailable, but Shepard was still pleased with the crowd that showed up. The party started out slow...soothing music, snacks, and just a bit of alcohol. Certain someones still managed to get very drunk, very quickly anyway, despite their two livers and four kidneys. "Shepard." "Grunt." "Shepard!" "Wrex." "Commaaander Shepaaard." "Shepard, Shepard, Shepard." "Wrex? Grunt?" "Shepaaaaaaaaaaaaaard!" "SHEPAAAAAAAAAAAAAARD!" "Shepard?" Garrus claimed a bottle or three of wine for himself, then went around the apartment planning and installing defense systems. Garrus: Shepard, I know I don't say this enough, but I love...your hair, heh heh. And I'm...pretty damn partial to the rest of you, too. Here are some screenshots of Tali drunk in the bathroom. Just for fun. After Shepard broke out the good stuff, word seemed to get around the Citadel that the famous human spectre was having a wild party. Grunt was happy to turn them away. Shepard caught Jack and Miranda...bonding? Sort of? I mean, they were both still alive by the end of the conversation. Shepard wouldn't have put it past Kasumi to do some mischief as she flickered in and out, though. Glyph turned up the music, and everyone started dancing. Nearly everyone, anyway. Shepard: So he won't dance with you, huh? EDI: No, Shepard. He will not. Shepard: Well, I will! Joker: *laughs for 30 solid seconds* Shepard convinced him to dance with EDI, in the end. Joker dances exactly like Shepard, though, and EDI pointed it out to him, which was fantastic. Shepard found Garrus, Traynor, Jack, Cortez, Tali, and Samara dancing in the kitchen and decided she might as well join them. Cortez was the only one with compliments for her. But then, he dances worse than she does. Everyone else made fun. Shepard dancing GIF inside! Garrus: Hey! That's my girlfriend you're...*chokes*...ah damn, I almost kept it straight. What is she doing with her arms? Shepard thanked them sarcastically for their loyalty and support, then kept dancing for a few more minutes just to mess with them. Garrus grabbed her as she made to leave and pulled her close enough to whisper to her, "Uh Shepard, is it...is it just the alcohol, or do you have vids running in your head of us mostly naked, completely alone, and shamelessly rolling all over a couch?" "Make it the bed upstairs, wait until everyone else is passed out, and you got yourself a date." She slapped his bony ass and went to make sure Javik and Wrex hadn't drunkenly shot the big screen yet. By the time she returned to the group in the kitchen, they were reciting the periodic table. She hid the rest of the alcohol and left them to it. Upstairs, Jacob, Ashley, Miranda, James, and Liara were arguing the merits of biotics vs. non-biotics. Having recently started training her biotic powers, Shepard had to side with the biotics. But she at least told Liara not to toss James off the balcony this time. As the party began winding down, Shepard decided to get the group picture taken before anyone went to sleep. She collected her friends and crew from around the apartment, and found James and Ashley upstairs getting to know one another, but not intimately (yet). Aaaakward... Group picture: Shepard locked herself and Garrus in her bedroom for the rest of the night, steadfastly ignoring any and all noises coming from downstairs, even the ones that suggested Cortez and Joker hadn't quite made it to the Armax Arena before beginning target practice. She and Garrus had a nice night, at least. The next morning, after Shepard turned the shower on the prothean hiding out in her bathroom, she found Garrus sitting across the coffee table from a very hungover Liara. Garrus: Morning Shepard. So, on the off-chance you accidentally trigger an alarm you didn't know you had and you hear a timer start counting down, then remember the code 'I heart Garrus.' Punch it into the keypad, preferably before the timer goes off. If you don't, well...just hope your insurance on this place covers large and fiery explosions. Then, there was this gem from EDI. EDI: Some neighbors came by last night to complain about the noise. I put their bodies in the building incinerator. Shepard hoped it truly was a joke, but she made a trip to the incinerator later that morning just to be sure. Next time, no incinerated neighbors! But there will be a hole-y Kai Leng.

The Last Will and Testament of Commander Shepard.
I hereby bequeath all my belongings to Conrad Verner. What a wonderful man. He said I was beautiful. Thank you Conard. I also regret not giving you a hug for that. I'm sor......
Where I'm I? Is this the afterlfe? Now I have voices in my head. Its a female. Her name is Marinade. She tells me the facility is under attack. This definitely is not the afterlife. I shoot some robots. Who's this guy? He calls himself Jory. He tells me I was dead as dead can be. He works with Cerberus. They wanted to bring me back. I get it. They want me to give Conrad that hug. Just thinking about him brings a tear to my eyes. I hope he's doing well.
I meet the Wilcox guy with the injured leg. Fight more robots. The Marinade woman shoots the Wilcox. Ok. I will keep my eye on her.
I talk with TMM, The Marboro Man. He brought me back for two reasons. To deal with the one's kidnapping colonists and to give Conrad that hug.
I meet Tally at the Free of Progress. She is here to get her friend Velcro. I find Velcro and also learn of a species that's called Protheans. Never heard of them.
I get a new ship. I call it My Ship. The pilot is Bozo the Clown. My ship has a voice. It calls iself edi. I will call it shut up.
I walk around My ship talking to everyone. The Jelly Climbers woman seems a little too friendly for my taste. I meet with the cook. This man deserves respect. Mr. Rupert Gardner will be cooking my meals. I make him Co-Commander of My Ship. I talk with Dr. Bones. I talk with Gabber and Kenron.
Ok. Where should I take My Ship first?

I suppose you could avoid talking to them or turn them down on their LM request. Loredana Shepard finally completed all loyalty missions successfully (except for Legion, not yet recruited). For the last couple days, I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to get the loyalty of both Miranda and Jack. Yesterday, I found my situation was worse than I thought. I did the Zaeed LM and came away without his loyalty. Loredana was unable to use the Paragon dialog option. (At the time, she had four of the five Paragon segments filled and one of the five Renegade segments.) I went back to the previous save and worked on all secondary missions. When she leveled up, I maxed out on "Agent", choosing the option that helps up your Paragon and Renegade points. Today did both Miranda's and Zaeed's LMs. After the Miranda mission, Loredana successfully defused the situation between Miranda and Jack. She was also able to get Zaeed to fall in line. She continues her relationship with Liara, started in ME1. She helped Liara take out the Shadow Broker. (Easily the best of the DLC.) Next up - Loredana will attempt to retrieve the IFF from the dead Reaper being examined by the Cerberus team.

Laura Shepard, Colonist, Sole Survivor When the repairs to the Normandy were finished at last, Shepard cleaned the apartment, emptied all the leftover food from the fridge, and shut off the lights. It felt final to her. Though she didn't say it to anyone, not even Garrus, she knew she was never going to see the place again. She spent a long time looking at the Silversun Strip before calling a cab to take her back to the docking bay. The crew arrived to bay D24 not long after Shepard did. They gathered around her for a moment as she gazed out the window at the Normandy. Garrus picked up on her mood, but his confidence that she would still win, somehow, made her feel a little bit stronger. Back on the ship, Shepard opened a comm channel to Hackett. Cerberus headquarters had been located and the navpoint sent to the Normandy. Hackett warned Shepard that once she attacked Cerberus, the Crucible would not stay safe for long. She saw no reason to delay any longer, and set course for Cerberus HQ. It would take some time to get there, so Shepard went to her cabin to try to rest. Instead, she was still reading reports when Garrus came upstairs to find her. They spent some time together before Shepard fell asleep and had another dream about the little boy she'd watched die on Earth. Garrus evidently couldn't sleep, and took to reading Shepard's reports until she woke up. As the Normandy approached Cerberus HQ, EDI found Shepard to make her case for joining Shepard on the ground, something she'd rarely done. Shepard agreed. Joker was not happy about that, but Shepard understood. Shepard, EDI, and Garrus crashed their way into Cerberus HQ hangar bay and defeated the first round of goons. Bringing EDI turned out to be a life-saving decision when Cerberus attempted to vent the hangar bay to kill the intruders. EDI was able to gain access to their computer systems to stop them much faster than Shepard would have been able to hack her way in. As they moved deeper into the facility, Shepard found several logs from cloning projects and had another minor existential crisis. Garrus assured her she was real. I note that he didn't say she's the original Shepard...just that she's real I know Shepard isn't actually a clone, but...I kind of like the idea that she could be. The original Shepard died in the attack on the SR1, but Cerberus failed to bring the body back to life, so instead they cloned a new body (or, rather, several new bodies), made a map of sorts of Shepard's brain, and transferred that information to the clone they'd chosen to use. That's weird, and I don't know why I like it. Anyway, moving on. After lots of shooting and running through fire, Shepard finally set foot into The Illusive Man's inner sanctum. She set right to work trying to extract the information from the prothean beacon. She was interrupted by a transmission from TIM himself. TIM eventually left them to take whatever data they wanted, but warned them not to stay too long. The reason quickly became clear: Kai Leng. This fight was too short and easy this time around. I always like it when I get indications that it's time to raise the difficulty level. I can temporarily feel like a badass, even though I was only playing on normal this time anyway. Next time, the battle for Earth (maybe 'part 1')

Went to the Citadel. Recruited Kickme. Not sure what she will add to the squad. Talked with Anders. He said its up to me to find a way to stop the giant flying hands. Makes working with Cerberus so much better.
I'm (insert store name here) and Commander Shepard is my favorite customer.
Went to Omega. Talked with the Area of Losing. Her motto is "Don't laugh at the Area". Ok. She told me where to find the Angel of Arches and the scientist called Mouthy.
Fought against a bunch of dirtbags. Mouthy is now on the squad. Hopefuly he will find a way to stop the protheans.
So Garfield is the Angel of Arches. He gets in the way of a rocket. Why would he do that? Hopefully he has good insurance.
I recruit Strap of Tattoos. Not sure what good she will be.
I get the extra layer of skin and bigger gun upgrade for My Ship.
For now, I will head to my cabin for some rest.

I recruit Zed Massive. I like this guy. He will be very useful on the mission
So we head to some planet to recruit a krogan named Oakley. I have to fight through a bunch of lowlifes. There's a woman's voice over the speakers. I like the sound of her voice. Maybe she should become a singer. This is Oakey? Ok. I have to stop the talking woman. Done. Oakley died for his krogan-in-a-tank. Alright lets take it back to My Ship. I release the baby krogan. Its gives itself the name Geralt. I leave a box of diapers for him to use.
Marlboro Man tells me the protheans might be attacking the planet Beyond Horizon. So me, Garfield and Zed fight the protheans. Some of the colonists are frozen and put in pods. What's that? A prothean starts to glow. ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL. Ok. The protheans are being controlled by someone or something. It says my name. I will call it Harpyger. What are those hump looking things? I will call them the Hunchback of Prothean.
After dealing with the portheans, I see Askly Willow walking towards me. Good to see you Askly. She calls me a trader. Not sure why. I have traded on occasions. She won't join me to stop the protheans. See ya later Askly.
Back on My Ship, Jelly Climbers was excited at what I did and that I was ok. She also told me that Marinade and Jory wanted to talk to me. I check my messages first.
Its Admiral Homer. He wants me to rescue his secretary, Always Kidding, who has been taken by Batarians because she has the skills they need to fix their paper problems. Fine. When I get the time I will see about rescuing the secretary.
Now we head to Illium.

Look who it is? Its Grapple Parcheesi. I help get the asari in trouble. See you later Grapple.
There he is. I run to Conrad and give him a big hug. He looks good wearing my N7 armor. Sorry Conrad, you can't help me deal with the protheans. Its a dangerous mission. I will see you again. Stay safe.
Marinade tells me about her sister, Orange, who needs to be protected. Ok. Fight a bunch of mercs. That was cool. Marinade threw the asari across the room. I tell Marinade to talk with her sister. Done.
I help blow up a building for the Strap of Tattoos. She's happy.
I see the Strap of Tattoos and Marinade arguing. Hold on. I come back with a cameraman and a directors chair for myself. Action. The camera guy starts filming. What? Don't stop fighting. This is academy award winner stuff here. Well that broke up their silly argument. Ok. Both are loyal
Jelly Climbers tells me Mouthy wants to talk. I will after I get something to eat.

themikefest I don't know why, but the name Jelly Climbers makes me laugh like an idiot "So next we headed to Omega." "Is it really as bad as people say?" "Definitely. It was quite the experience to witness this. Something I don't want to repeat though. When we arrived I saw a guy dealing with a batarian, and it was Zaeed Massani, another recruit for the mission. I didn't like what I saw, but he had already been paid by Cerberus to do the job and - again - was promised that I'd help him with something. I was really annoyed about the Illusive Man's dickish moves, but compared to what happened later on this was only a trifle. I ordered Massani to the Normandy and carried on, couldn't bother with him at that point. I don't like mercs, and I didn't like him. Anyway, we were supposed to pick up a Dr. Mordin Solus, who was as it turned out a fast-talking and very intelligent salarian, but he was holed up in a clinic in a quarantine zone." "A quarantine zone? What had happened?" "Someone had bioengineered a plague that affected all races on Omega except humans and vorcha. Everyone had suspected it to be of human origin, but that wasn't the case. When we found Mordin he determined that it was the Collectors' doing after hearing we were after them. The resident vorcha were distributing the virus for the Collectors, and we set out to deploy the cure that Mordin had already developed. That was the deal to get Mordin to give up his clinic and join our cause. We needed him to develop a countermeasure for the seeker swarms, which are paralysing the human colonists so the Collectors can take them." "My God, that sounds absolutely terrifying." "It was. Seeing all this... it made me feel so helpless. I mean, of course at first there were no colonists for us left to see, but what that quarian Veetor had shown us on Freedom's Progress was enough to get a clear picture what we were dealing with. And it wasn't good." "Then I'm glad you had Mordin on your side to help you against these things." "Yeah, me too. So, after making sure Mordin was all set up on the Normandy, Kasumi, Jacob and I went to look for Archangel on Omega." "Archangel? Uuuh, sounds exciting!" "Ha, you will be surprised..." "What? Why?" "You'll see." Piiics: Kasumi and Jacob were awesome as a team here. I thought it wouldn't be a good idea to take these two because Miri has Warp, but it was so much fun! Kasumi's Shadow Strike is great. The combo efficiency was pretty cool. I would strip armor and send Kasumi to kill that enemy, then shoot away the armor of another one, using Jacob's Pull and my cooldowned Warp again. It was pretty nice. Shadow Strike is also really good in taking down all kinds of protection layer. I liked it so much that I will play Garrus's recruitment with them again. I actually wanted to use Mordin now, but oh well. Let's see how I'll manage though, this is a mission where I usually die a few times

From the Journal of Ioan Shepard: - Zada Ban: Blood Pack base here. Worth destroying so I'm going down with Zaeed and Grunt. EDI says "Kill the Power Source and save the world." Watching vorcha bounce from Slam is the best. This L5 implant Cerberus gave me really kicks ass. Also fun is hitting a charging krogan with a biotic charge. My charge was stronger. Sucker went down. Then I took out the power source and got a big boom out of it! I have no idea why people the Council thought I couldn't do subtle. - Canalus: Geth activity here and strange weather patterns. Time to investigate. Tali is an obvious choice to come along. Garrus also has plenty of geth experience, so he can come as well. There was some kind of machine that was altering the weather. It was questionable why the geth would do this since they can survive in extreme conditions. Theory: they're testing to see if worlds can be made uninhabitable for organic life, thereby allowing them to settle all worlds throughout the galaxy. Destroyed the 'bots and disabled the machine. Also, this happened. I'm floating! - MSV Broken Arrow: On a crash course for an ice giant. Only signatures on board are geth. I guess somehow there's a colony on that ice giant. Don't know how. In any case, this ship will hit it unless stopped. Time to kill some more 'bots! I brought Kasumi and Thane. It's almost like having Tali and Garrus, but shadier versions. Six minutes to reactivate the engines or there's no way to avoid impact. Why was there even a colony on an ice giant in the middle of geth territory? It's like they wanted to die. In any case, I restarted the engine and killed all the geth on board. - Omega: Decided it was time to track down Samara's vampire daughter. Aria pointed me in the direction of the mother of a likely victim. We spoke with her. She was still grief-stricken. Strange, when I listen to a message from Morinth to Nef, there's excitement in her voice, like she actually cares about this person. Almost like she's got two personalities, one is the lure while the other kills. I got some insights about Morinth as well as how to find her. - We headed to Afterlife's VIP area. I was the bait and had to go in solo and unarmed. Samara would have to follow from a distance or else risk alerting Morinth. I danced with an asari, convinced a bartender to buy a round of drinks for everyone and helped a reporter out of a tight spot. That drew Morinth right to me. After a chat, she wanted to take me right home. No wasted time drawing me in like with Nef. At her apartment, we talked before I mentioned that though we were both killers, that was where the similarities ended. She tried to control my mind but found herself unable. Then Samara came in and they fought. Despite it all, Morinth told me she'd work for me if I helped her. I'm no fool. She's too dangerous and I wasn't going to betray Samara like that. Morinth tried to claim she was the genetic destiny of the asari but the fact that she can't actually reproduce makes that seem unlikely. She died at her mother's hands and Samara finally felt some relief after 400 years of hunting her. Also, now loyal to me. - Lattesh: More data scans to be found here. Hammerhead in a frozen zone. Not fun. Some followup email said they hoped the data would help with terraforming. - Aite: TIM asked me to investigate a problem in another division called "Overlord". Name was ominous enough, so ominous that I thought it might be something I'd have to shut down. Don't want anything too powerful in his hands. For that reason, I couldn't bring Miranda and Jacob, but also didn't want anything too biased like Jack. I settled on Tali and Samara. Dr. Gavin Archer said there was a "catastrophic VI outbreak". Reminded me of Luna, and of Hahne-Kedar. All seems a little too coincidental. Not that it matters because we can't have a potential AI running loose. There were a lot of dead inside but they were all Cerberus. Not sure I'm broken up about that. Aaaand, they were working on live geth. Didn't I just do this same mission with the quarians? I retracted a satellite dish to prevent uploading of geth programs. Then a green face appeared on the scree before me. It was hard to make out, but I could swear it said "please, stop". That doesn't sound very geth-like. - Retracting the dish wasn't enough. Had to destroy the antennae as well. After that was done, had a chat with Archer. Overlord was about integrating a human mind with a VI to gain influence over the geth. It had worked. All the geth we had fought were under the control of what I soon learned was Archer's brother, David. He was trying to infect all tech. But I couldn't dismiss what I'd thought was a cry for help, either. David might not have had full control of his faculties. - Headed to Prometheus Station which turned out to be a crashed geth ship. This wasn't going to go well. It was never going to go well. It was also surrounded by a shield which I had to disable while be shot at by a shielded cannon. Since I was now sure Cerberus had fucked up, I felt comfortable taking Jack and Grunt along. Still not bringing the Cerberus apologists. First thing I saw inside was a geth prime inside of an energy field. You just know this thing was going to bite me in the ass later. Inert geth all over the place. They must have been active at one point since all the researchers are dead. Okay, I definitely heard "please make it stop". I'm starting to doubt the volunteer status of David Archer. Hit the override switch and all the geth came online. Try not to be shocked when I saw the geth prime was active at the exit to the facility. It still exploded in the end. - Arrived at Vulcan Station with Garrus and Mordin. First had to travel across rivers of lava in that damnable Hammerhead. This facility didn't have geth. Instead, it's those LOKI mechs again. Hit the override and moved on. One LOKI mech was definitely showing signs of fear. Not VI behavior at all. - Just to see reactions, I brought Miranda and Jacob with me to Atlas Station. How would Miranda justify this? One machine randomly opened Archer's video log to offer up the most damning evidence yet. David Archer is autistic. I'm not saying that means he's dumb but I have no doubt he was unable to make an informed decision about connecting to the VI. Another log confirmed that it wasn't just any VI network. It was the geth neural network to which David had been connected. And why? Because they weren't getting results and TIM was going to scrap the program. In another entry, Archer acknowledged David could be harmed but deemed the project more important. Then I was led to the VI Server Console. It was little more than a button with "press me" metaphorically labeling it. So I did and it sent my mind into some kind of virtual environment. - In this place, there was a clear "stop" from David. A recording of a past event shows how David was able to mimic the geth language and thereby control them. This poor kid. He's with his brother for protection and is treated like nothing more than an experiment. One thing that was abundantly clear was that David did not like what had been done to him. When we got to the core, the David/geth hybrid was trying to upload itself to the Normandy. I cannot even imagine the world of shit we'd all be in if it took control of EDI. Once I severed the connection the VI display shorted out. Then I saw the real horror. David was bound naked to some device. Metal tubes went down his throat, his eyes were forced open, metal claws dug into his skin, cables dug into his arms. It was an atrocity and Archer was still trying to defend his actions. Once I finally got through to him, Archer said he wanted to care for the boy. I in no way trusted him. I don't think he had the ability to do such a thing. When I told Archer I was taking him, he pulled a gun on me saying that David was too valuable. That right there told me I'd made the right decision. He'd never see David as more than a tool. I arranged for him to go to Grissom Academy, and told Archer that if TIM didn't like it he could fire me. No consequences were forthcoming, other than an email saying how removing David would set back their efforts for years. Out of fucks for that asshole. And Miranda had absolutely nothing to say. For once in her life, she didn't defend Cerberus.

Went to the planet Chunk. Geralt needs to complete the Rite to Wear Pants. Swell. Lets get this over with. Have to defeat a giant worm known as the Trash Mullet. Done. It was easier than I thought it would be. Some krogan named Ulcer wants Geralt as a trophy. Yeah. That didn't work out to well for him. Now Geralt is part of Clan Uncle.
Now to find Mouthy's assistant, Melon. Fight through a bunch of krogan. There's the Melon salarian. Mouthy sends him away and deletes his data. Back to My Ship.
TMM wants to talk to me. He tells me to head to a disabled Prothean ship.
Big ship. You will never believe what I found out? The protheans are Collectors. The reapers turned the collectors into workers . ITS A TRAP. Fight the protheans and Harpyger. Come on Bozo the Clown. Get My Ship out of here.
sidenote: I took Kasumi on Mordin's loyalty mission. Don't believe I've done that before. They had some good dialogue

Laura Shepard, Colonist, Sole Survivor With Cerberus severely crippled, the Normandy's next destination was Earth. Hackett came aboard to give a pep talk to the crew, and to explain the plan to Shepard. The Reapers had the Citadel, and had closed its arms. Their only hope was to get someone aboard the station using the reapers' beam in London. That person would open the Citadel so the Crucible could dock. It sounded absolutely insane to Shepard, but she couldn't see any alternative. Hackett returned to his ship and the fleets set out for Earth. As the Normandy arrived to the Sol system, Joker was actually moved to get up and salute Shepard. She thought she covered her shock pretty well. Shepard was stunned to silence to see what had happened to Earth in the year she'd been gone. Although she'd spent her childhood on Mindoir, after her parents were killed she'd spent several years living in a group home on Earth, and then completed several years of her military training there. The destruction she saw in London almost felt like a hallucination to her. After an initial firefight, Shepard's team was extracted by a shuttle containing Anderson and Lieutenant Blackwall. It was good to see Anderson in person again, giving her more hope than she'd felt since leaving Cronos Station. Anderson told Shepard to meet with the rest of her team and then find him to strategize. Vega expressed what an honor it had been to work with Shepard. He was taking it hard, the way Earth was looking, but Shepard assured him that they could rebuild what they'd lost. She did not truly feel that confidence, but at least Vega was standing up straighter when she left. Shepard spoke to Ashley next, who was obviously feeling guilty for the way she'd treated Shepard after her resurrection. Shepard reminded Ashley that she'd been with Shepard every step of the way since then, always there to bail her out when she needed it. The truth was, Shepard did not want Ashley going into what could be the last fight of their lives with that on her conscience. Shepard said her goodbyes...though she didn't openly call them that...to Grunt, Miranda, Samara, Kasumi, Cortez, and Jack via comm. Liara wanted to share memories with Shepard, as they had soon after they first met. (I bet this scene is nice with a romanced Liara.) Javik was one of the most optimistic of the crew. The way the races had come together, they had a better shot now at surviving than the protheans ever had. He said that if he survived, he might even write that book with Liara. Wrex had some of the best news Shepard had heard: Eve was pregnant with their first baby. And she wanted to name it Mordin. Shepard found Garrus with the Primarch, who had come to be part of the greatest battle any of them would ever fight...one way or another. She spoke with him briefly, then approached Garrus. They both knew, looking at the other, that neither expected to survive. But them being them, they tried at first to keep it light. They talked about raising kids -- krogan ones, since biology was unlikely to cooperate -- and retiring on a warm beach to live off royalties from the vids. I'm not religious, but these lines just get me anyway. "May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil knows your dead." "Not sure if turian heaven is the same as yours, but if this thing goes sideways and we both end up there... meet me at the bar. I'm buying." "Forgive the insubordination, but your boyfriend has an order for you… come back alive. It'd be an awfully empty galaxy without you." Shepard forced herself to step away from Garrus and continue upstairs, where EDI and Anderson were busy studying a holographic map of the city, and Tali was standing by for orders. EDI asked Shepard why the Reapers seemed to be holding back. Tali, like James, wanted to make sure Shepard understood what an impact she'd made, and what an honor it had been to work with her. She wanted to know how Shepard was holding up, seeing Earth this way. Next time, the destruction of the mini-reaper in London, and the run for the beam.

From the Journal of Ioan Shepard:
- Citadel: Time to make Thane happy. After all that nonsense with Overlord, I wanted to help someone not go down a dark path. We asked Captain Bailey for a way to find him and he pointed us toward someone called "Mouse". We found him and asked him who hired Thane's son. It took some persuasion, and a promise of protection, but he finally relented. He told us it was a guy named Elias Kelham. I'd actually seen video of him running over a turian on Omega while at the Shadow Broker's Lair. Bailey didn't like hearing that name since he was basically taking a bribe from the guy. When pressed, he still agreed to have Kelham brought in. Thane played good cop while I punched him. Kelham didn't understand his situation, threatening me each time I hit him. When Thane wanted to back off I told the guy I'd cut off his balls and sell them to a krogan. That gave me the name of Joram Talid, a turian. He's a politician who says he'll end organized crime but is also anti-human. - We went to the 800 block to find this guy. I tailed from the catwalk while Thane trailed below. Our hope was to nab Kolyat before he could go through with the assassination. The guy was campaigning, schmoozing with voters. He had a krogan bodyguard with him. The krogan went into a shop while Talid remained outside. It was a shakedown. Guy was ballsy to do this while promising to end organized crime. When the krogan emerged, the two took off running. Then another shakedown of a bartender before meeting up with some krogan mercs. That's when Kolyat emerged. He actually took out the krogan bodyguard before chasing Talid into his apartment. When we got there, Talid was on his knees with a gun to his head. This was turning into an execution. I fired a shot to distract him and then punched him. C-Sec had also arrived on the scene, taking Kolyat into custody. Yet, Bailey gave them privacy to work out their problems since Thane had been an absentee father. I convinced Bailey to give Kolyat off-the-record community service for his crime of attempted murder. And...Thane was now loyal to me. I miss the days when loyalty was just a given because you had soldiers with integrity guarding your back. But this was Cerberus and it was necessary to "buy" the help. - Corang: One of Cayce's survey sites. Wouldn't bother, since I already found the prothean artifact, but there are geth here. May as well turn the 'bots off. Nothing special here. Killed the geth, got some historical data, moved on. - Derelict Reaper: At this point, all that was left was Hackett's solo mission to rescue Dr. Kenson and acquiring the Reaper IFF. Since I deemed Hackett's mission equally dangerous to that of the suicide mission, I decided I needed to get the IFF. Getting through the Omega-4 relay was now priority #1. Headed to the derelict Reaper. Peculiar things: there was a geth ship docked next to the derelict and the Reaper's mass effect field was still functioning. Call me paranoid but I'm not so convinced this thing is dead.

Loredana Shepard, Paragon, Infiltrator, Veteran - led her team on to an ancient derelict Reaper to recover an IFF device necessary to use the Omega 4 Relay, the key to reaching that part of Dark Space where the Collectors were hiding. Along with the IFF, they recover the body of a lone Geth Trooper that had been investigating the derelict before being overwhelmed by husks. Shepard reactivates the Geth to interrogate it. Strangely, the Geth has a piece of N7 armor on its right shoulder as well as unrepaired damage to its chest plate. Shepard finds out that the Geth who served Saren were separate from the main body of Geth, which favored peaceful coexistence with "organics" and against an alliance with the Reapers. Shepard then agrees to assist the Geth trooper - nicknamed Legion - on a mission to a "heretic" space station to eliminate a virus that would allow the "heretics" to rewrite the programming of the rest of the Geth to follow the Reapers. Once on the station, they find that it is possible to turn the dagger around and reprogram the "heretics" to fall back in line with the rest of the Geth and out of the clutches of the Reapers. Shepard chooses this option, seeing in it a possible route to making peace with the Geth and avoiding a counterproductive war that strengthen the Reapers.
The IFF is installed on board the Normandy but as a preacaution, Shepard and her team take a shuttle trip away in case something goes wrong. Sure enough, the IFF had a virus that disables the ship which is then boarded by the Collectors who seize the Normandy crew except for Joker and EDI who regain control of the ship and are able to link up with Shepard's shuttle. With the virus cleansed and the IFF functional, Loredana decides it's time to launch their operation against the Collectors. Her "Dirty - almost a Dozen" is ready for action!
Joker quickly earns his pay first dodging the wreckage of generations of spacecraft that made the trip only to be destroyed on the other side. He then has a rematch with the Collector vessel that destroyed the original Normandy. This time, with improved weapons and shields, the Normandy emerges victorious but is forced to crash land on the Collector base. As Joker and EDI work to repair the ship, Loredana and her team execute the mission of rescuing the crew and putting an end to the Collector threat. Making their way through the base, the find and free the captured crew and become aware of the grim fate of the missing colonists before them - they were harvested for their genetic material. But why? As they proceed further through the base engaging Collectors and Husks along the way, they find that the Collectors have been building a human Reaper! Loredana and her team destroy the incomplete Reaper and then arrange for the destruction of the Collector base despite TIM's objections. In the end, the whole crew returns and Shepard's squad escapes injury!
Will start ME3 PT with Loredana soon. I've installed the MEHEM mod but am having problems installing the extended conversation with Anderson. Are you supposed to use a mod manager with it? Any other mods for ME3 I should consider?

"So we had to talk with the ruler of Omega, an asari called Aria, in order to get more information on Archangel. She told us that there was a merc recruitment going on at that moment because Archangel had become a huge problem for the local merc bands... so that's where we went." "My son, a merc..." "Oh mom, it wasn't really like that. It was for like half an hour and only to get to Archangel. Besides, we were meant to be just cannon fodder anyway." "Oh that makes it so much better!" "Relax, nothing bad happened. Because... I actually knew Archangel." "Wait, are you saying--" "It was Garrus, mom. He was fed up with C-Sec and went to Omega to do some good in his... very special way." "Meaning?" "He made life hell for the merc bands there - Blue Suns, Eclipse, Blood Pack - and killed a lot of them. That's why he was named Archangel by the locals and all the merc bands were out to get him. He had attracted a whole team for this whole thing, but then he was betrayed by one of his own. And his whole team got killed by this guy, with Garrus being the only one left." "Oh no, that's terrible." "Yeah, such things are never easy. It had definitely left its mark on him. But anyway, the merc bands carried out their attacks as planned. They approached Archangel's base after one another, but we repelled them all. Even took down a gunship." "Gunship. Again?" "Not the last time. But Garrus had been hit by one of its rockets. After we dealt with the last attacking merc wave, we brought him to the Normandy's med bay asap, where Dr. Chakwas took good care of him. He was scarred, but fine otherwise." "I'm glad nothing worse happened." "Yeah. Me, too. And I knew Garrus would be another person to have my back when it came to Cerberus. It was really nice to have him there." "I can imagine." "So that was the part about me meeting Garrus again, and I won't mention that I was nearly poisoned when I went to get a drink on Omega afterwards..." "Son. Please don't. I don't need to know everything." "Hehe. Sorry, ma. Alright, I think it's time for me to go back to my room." "Sure thing, honey. Then let's go." Some pics: I didn't die, yaaaay! But Garrus died during the fight with Jenta. She was the only one left and I had her health almost down when she got him But overall it went unexpectedly fine, even though the shutter section was reaaaally a slow one for me this time. I'm slowly starting to learn what the Sentinel is capable of, and I like it. Tech Armor is a very nice power so far. I have not yet developed it further, but I'll focus on that now I think.

From the Journal of Ioan Shepard:
- Derelict Reaper: I thought Tali would be useful here with the geth. Miranda - well, if TIM pulled another fast one like with the Collector ship, I wanted her to see it all. I had her loyalty but fully removing any to Cerberus seemed worthwhile. First thing we noticed was that the science team wasn't in evidence. I suppose that's not a surprise if there are geth around. It was creepy being here. Remember that being inside one of these led Saren down a very dark path. A video log suggested that one researcher was already feeling the effects of being inside after only a short period. Further logs make it clear that they were all indoctrinated, which meant this Reaper wasn't as dead as it seemed. With geth somewhere around, I fully expected to encounter husks. It's the most likely outcome for these people. No one deserves that. Not even Cerberus. Aaaand the Reaper put up a kinetic barrier. Definitely not dead but somehow dormant for 37 million years. Deactivating the core, and removing the barrier, would also destroy the mass effect field and send this thing careening into the planet below. - Then the husks attacked. Miranda said it had never been certain the origin of dragon's teeth technology. Tali said that geth origin never made any kind of sense. What organics would they have experimented upon in the last 300 years? Geth stayed in their own space and few organics went into their territory. To me, it was obvious it had been Reaper tech, but then I wasn't a Reaper Denier. There was also a sniper around that took out some husks near us. Then we did see the dragon's teeth but still human corpses on them. They were enormous. There was also an arrangement in the room like an altar for worship. Reminded me of how the geth were worshiping Reaper tech on Feros. I decided that destroying the corpses was for the best so that at least they never became husks. It was the least they deserved. I thought of Cerberus experimenting with dragon's teeth and creating husks. Yeah, I couldn't stay with them once the mission was done. - In a new area, a shot whizzed right by my head, taking out a husk behind me, and a couple more. I looked up to a catwalk and saw a geth holding a rifle. It had a piece of my N7 armor strapped to it, implying it had either gone to Alchera or otherwise acquired it. That was baffling and troubling all wrapped into one. Then it said "Shepard-Commander" before walking off. According to Tali, it shouldn't be able to talk since geth are minimally intelligent except when linked. Of course, there was that geth ship. Still, I couldn't figure out why a geth would want to save me. Then again, if they work for the Collectors, they could just be trying to preserve by body to bring to them. - Acquired the Reaper IFF, which Cerberus scientists had left on a terminal. Now we just had to escape. At the core, saw that same geth doing something at a terminal. The husks didn't like it and were attacking so that meant it wasn't in league with them. Unfortunately, they overwhelmed it. Then we had to deal with the core. A single shot from the Cain put an end to it and we ran to escape. Miranda had suggested taking the geth with us, since it was still intact. Tali didn't think it was a good idea, and I'm sure she was remembering the Alarei. I concurred with Miranda, but only because this one had saved my life a couple of times. We took it and ran, escaping just in time. - Normandy: Jacob wanted to space the geth while Miranda wanted to collect the bounty on it. I was curious about the piece of my armor which Miranda suggested was a field repair. Which still meant it was around my corpse. Since Liara had my chest piece on Illium it meant this thing had to have been on Alchera. - Activated the geth. I tried to get a name out of it but it just said "geth". Turns out there are numerous programs inhabiting that body. That's why it's smarter than the usual single geth. The geth network is inside of it. Interesting things learned. Said the geth I'd fought were "heretics" who worshiped the "Old Machines" - Reapers, who were a threat to them as well. The implication was that since we had the same enemies (heretics and Reapers) that we could help each other through cooperation. EDI suggested "Legion" for the Biblical quote. The geth accepted it and joined my team. I remember Kaidan thinking there were no new frontiers. If he only knew. Legion told us that the heretics had created a virus to change the "real" geth so that they were in alignment with the heretics. Then all geth would worship the Reapers. Legion wanted to stop that from happening. - Email from Bailey said Kolyat was helping him in the Wards. TIM was on board with me activating Legion, not that I asked.

I've always wondered about the nature of Legion. I assumed his "we are geth" meant that he was simply networked to all non-heretic geth. When he talks of "programs," I always assumed that meant all the geth he was connected to at the time. In ME, we are introduced to various models of geth. But where does Legion fit in? He seems like an ordinary geth trooper. Do all geth have the ability to communicate to humans? (They once communicated with their former Quarian masters; I would think they all have that ability.) Does he ever fully explain the N7 armor? Did he develop some strange affection for Shepard Commander during his scouting missions on Eden Prime and elsewhere? Why did the geth want him to find Shepard?
