I don't think the activity and number of threads justifies having so many separate subforums for Origins, DA2 and Inquisition. I suggest merging stuff just like with MET, it will be far more succinct and livelier.
Cheers!

For open discussion, would this be more problematic as DA titles are more separate, vs Mass Effect?

Yep, for things like Character and Romance, and General Discussion, does it really matter that the games are not united by the single protagonist? We are way past the times when these games were new, so a quick tag on the thread itself if the thread is really very specific to Warden/Hawke or Inquisitor protagonist should be plenty. Most threads deal with the meta-lore of the DA world, just like the MET ones do. Traffic flow, visibility and usability will all be much improved if you do not have the silos.

I hate to be disagreeable, but as I have yet to play DAI (the shunning may begin now), I kinda like having the character subforums separate.

Having the three games merged is actually what keeps me away from the MET forum. I have recently started playing ME2, but haven't played ME1 or 3, so I've mostly avoided the MET forum because I don't want to accidentally have the next game spoiled for me, even by a thread title. While I have played all the DA games, I can understand someone like mousestalker who wants to avoid spoilers for one of the games and benefits from having the forums separate. Plus, I feel like some of the threads for the two older games (such as character threads) would be buried under all the DAI stuff that gets daily traffic.

Considering the forum can be semi collapsed for ease of use, And this is the first time I've seen anyone complain about it being the way it is.... Let it remain. I haven't played the ME series, so it's possible to know I would need to avoid the forum to avoid spoilers. People are terrible at not spoiling. I've said before that there should actually be a Spoilers Free Section that newcomers can visit, like there was on old BSN before.

Maybe you could merge the old games without merging Inquisition, considering the fact that Inquisition is still relatively new.
Origins and II, on the other hand, seem completely barren. There's really no need for there to be so many boards.

I'm pretty adamantly against a move that is, at best, for aesthetics, with the bad side effect of mixing up threads weird. I am one of the users of these sub forums, and I see one person I don't recognize at all voting for a collapsband the OP who has already admitted elsewhere that they are going to play the game once and possibly never again.
If this move must be done, it seems unfair not to actually ask the people who use it every day?

I have no idea why you're framing it as though you're not being considered.

At least making the members of those sub-forums aware of this discussion has some merit. I'll drop a couple of links leading people here, if they choose to comment is up to them.
I'll admit I'm seeing no unequivocal consensus, as yet, either way.

I agree with phoray and dragontartare: I want the forums stay separate. I have begun with ME1, but I have no desire to anticipate in those boards, because, I already got spoiled there regarding the end (or possible end) of the trilogy. The problem ist, that not every thread is marked and so I accidently stumbled into a thread, I thought was for ME 1 from the title and got spoiled in the very first post. Same with romances: I'm glad, a certain character is a romance option, but I would have liked to find that out for myself. If the boards are separated, those things normally don't happen. I don't see many spoilers for DAI in the DA2 forum for example (if there are spoilers, they are usually still put in tags).
So my vote goes for staying separate

Surely Origins and DAII could be merged without messing up the spoiler free area you guys are talking about though? There are posts on the Origins server that are on the front page, yet date clear back to the 18th of December. The boards clearly aren't being used regularly enough to justify them being separate.
As it is, it seems like there are just 4 or 5 completely dead boards, and three active ones (all of which are for Inquisition).
There's merit in pointing out that I don't frequent these sections of the forum, but I would argue the reason I don't is because there's next to no activity. At least if you kept Inquisition separate from the other two games, it would direct more people to the same place to actually discuss things, while still keeping the newest game in the series from accidentally spoiling those who haven't gotten there yet.

If that's not agreeable, it might even be possible to merge all the Origin related boards with each other, and all the DAII boards with each other. It would direct more traffic to them if they were more condensed.

Looking at the subforum pages:
Dragon Age: Origins - 3 pages Dragon Age: Origins Character and Romance - 1 page
Dragon Age 2 - 1 page Dragon Age 2 Character and Romance - 1 page
I'd agree with merging those into one subforum each, one for DAO and one for DA2.
I would not merge the DAI subforums, there is just too much going on in those 4 subforums.

If merging as you suggest - one DAO forum and one DA2 forum - will make things easier on the moderators, then I'm not opposed to it. It will still preserve spoiler-free areas for people new to these games, which I wished was still an option for Mass Effect. Otherwise, the only person here who is pushing to merge all of them is someone who admits to not really using those forums anyway, and thus is not actually affected by this issue.

With Andromeda coming out, we could be getting new members who want to go back and play the old games. I myself just completed the ME2 suicide mission last night for the first time, and had to stick to my own little thread that I'd created in order to avoid being spoiled for ME3.

I myself just completed the ME2 suicide mission last night for the first time, and had to stick to my own little thread that I'd created in order to avoid being spoiled for ME3. That's what happened to me, when roaming through the ME threads and accidently click on a wrong one. Now the end is spoiled for me and I've lost a bit the will to play ME. So yeah - separating at least the games would be great - and you would find stuff better
