I've been trying to find guides for characters that work early on, but most of what I find either links to da skills (which is now defunct) or its from more than a year ago, and more built based on a specific weapon or accessory.
I was hoping if yall could help me with figuring out what works, maybe this thread could help others who are still low promotion-wise.

Old builds should work since almost nothing has changed. Search YT for DeMortiel, AntarticWildlife and Drach15 or something like that guides. They are good for starters.

The first build I ever learned which really worked well was the Reaver. It's based on fast cool downs for ability spamming. The key is to grab passives that increase critical hits to maximize use of the Flow of Battle passive to reduce ability cooldowns.
Strategy - Don't play like a tank. You're a squishy dps machine! Sneak up on enemies using cover or allowing teammates to draw aggro. When in range, pop war horn, rampage, and then spam dragon rage on all those panicked enemies until they are dead. If your health gets low, pop devour for a quick health boost. When the panic wears off, get back to cover. Rinse and repeat.
Best gear is stuff that increases critical chance and healing. Best weapon is something with high base damage and crit hit chance.
Order of unlock: Devour - your emergency skill to get health back quickly or to break enemy blocks Ring of pain Blood frenzy Scenting blood - increases crit chance Terrifying fury - panics enemies Dragon Rage - your main ability you want to be using War Horn - panics enemies Flow of Battle - every critical hit reduces cooldowns Deathblow - you now automatically critically hit panicked enemies Coup de grace Adamant Deep Reserves - gets your stamina back for more ability spamming Rampage - speeds up the killing and gives you health spikes on every hit (until you get this, you can use ring of pain to help you with maintaining health) Ravage Relentless Attack - increases crit chance Fervour Bloodbath Crippling Blows It'll cost you
If you are having trouble staying alive, you can grab bear mauls the wolves instead of some of the later offensive passives. Have fun!

TheLastTankMage reserved some agents' builds from old BSN which are still pretty good for new players. The active/passive abilities are listed as text in the guides and there are also useful discussions in some of the threads. Lego: Lego build by Salsadip The ability name "Unbow" is outdated. It's called "Livid" now. Saarebas: Looking for a Saarebas build! if you are new, you may want to focus on playing a support Saarebas for now. Templar: Penguin/Salsadips Templar Build (a.k.a. That AoE combo) I find "Horn of Valor" is a decent buff especially if the party plays as a group. Do note that the additional damage bonus & armor bonus from upgraded "Horn of Valor" have been changed from 35% to 15% as caldyrvan has pointed out in the thread. Arcane Warrior: Penguin/Salsadips Arcane Warrior Build Bringing all sorts of enemies together! For the last time!Duelist: Sinistrality's Beginner's Guide to Isabela, Penguin's Isabela Build that I am trying to preserve Silent Sister: russ4ua16's Silent Sister Build Assassin: Penguin/Salsadips Assassin Build For when it must absolutely die now! I believe "Shadow Strike" is no longer bugged and it works with the passive "I was never here" now. "Cull the herd" is another passive I think is also very important to assassin which is not mentioned in the OP. Archer: Penguin/Salsadips Archer Build For those who like to shoot things! It's debatable whether a new player should take long shot as it tends to draw more aggro than one can handle. If playing in a good team with proper support and tank, long shot can be fun and effective. Though in totally random pugs you would want to be careful with it if you couldn't deal with the aggro all by yourself. I think it's really up to personal preference which abilities you choose to have on Archer as long as you have the passive "Opportunity Knocks". Do take it even if your own critical chance is not very high because your teammates' critic hits also help to reduce your cooldowns too. As for weapons, in general use the ones with the highest dps you can get for now. In case you do have some options among weapons of similar damage output, greatswords/greataxes are usually better than mauls on 2-handed warriors because they are AOE rather than single target. By contrast I don't recommend dual blade daggers(AOE) on rogues especially assassin who needs precision strikes on isolated targets. The weird attack animation of dual blades makes them easy to miss on your targets. Accessories that are generally useful: Amulet of renewal, cooldown amulet, critical chance rings, health belt, Heal-on-kill rings. Amulet of Cunning is always good on rogues to boost their critical chances. Amulet of other attributes(magic, willpower etc.) sometimes help too depending on the agent/builds you use. Do not hesitate to ask in the forum if you have questions about the builds of a specific agent.

If I remember correctly most of Voldemort's builds were terrible. Truly a bummer DASkills is no longer functioning. Biggest advice I can give you is grind out the first few promotions/100K gold with the stronger characters. Examples: Arcane Warrior, Lego, Reaver, Silent Sister, Saarabas, Elementalist Once you've collected some high base damage weapons and the highest tier armors the other characters become more viable. I think I posted a few builds/vids of the above classes here: m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzGoDku5nEdgk6tEIrUu2USvRA3AgRhA-

As someone who played a decent bit at launch but is just now getting back into the MP (only 433 prestige), this board is immensely helpful! It's great to see high level players seemingly always ready to help someone, I'm honestly taken aback after going through a few threads.

To be fair, they were in the exact same position we were when the game came out. It's only fitting that they pass on the knowledge they had to scrounge up from their hard work to those that need it.

I admit starting out that I played a lot of the Keeper since I met a lot of people who needed a barrier. It was helpful to watch people play other classes to get a good idea of what might work. I used a lot of the builds that I've reposted, but made sure to try and listen to other people's opinions. Some forum members suggested good builds for the Reaver, Necro and Elementalist, which I keep on notepad documents on my desktop.
Always, always be willing to try new things and find what works for you. Like in World of Warcraft, there are "premium builds" but if they're not fun or match your play style, then chuck 'em! Unless it causes you to die a lot in a PUG who doesn't find it endlessly amusing like my WoW guild.
