I watched the first season of Sense8. I liked the overall plot which was pretty fascinating but it seems like the theme and tone of the series was all over the place. Like it didn't know if it wanted to be taken seriously or be a romantic comedy. Too much relationship drama and real world politics for my taste. There were one or two characters whose stories I really liked - mostly Wolfgang. I also liked Sun until the very cliche and badly written end to her character arc (when her father suddenly repents and wants to save her). Heard season 3 is canceled. I quit Sens8 for pretty much the same reason. And yeah, it's been cancelled. I guess it was too expensive to continue, since they did all their filming on location.

The finale was indeed splendid and the subject of BCS, I recently purchased the Jimmy McGill pop figure that was on sale at the local GameSLOP. I might end up getting the Breaking Bad Saul Goodman one to compliment it.

Yesterday I finished watching Season's 2 of The Last Kingdom, I remember that series first being aired on History channel in my country, but I believe they discontinued it after Season's one finale. Same happened for Vikings at first, they were showing the series on fucking National Geographic. Anyways now I have to start watching Season 3 of Better Call Saul, fucking finally. Shame it's only 10 episodes.

Watched the first ep of an old SF series I grew up on. Then I jumped to Dragon's Domain. A favourite monster episode. Back then, I only knew monster! and was scared at night. Now, it's still an enjoyable story but I've to shake my head at the lack of character development. As the 8th ep and having encountered aliens and experienced strange events, the wooden doctor remained rigid to her original diagnosis of the poor sod. As an encore, watched a short compilation of Babylon 5 which is the second last SF tv series I watched. BSG redux is the last, I've watched the old series as a child back then. I can't say which is better, the old or the new. They each have their strengths but I've to say the ending for the new was a meh.

Hey...just out of curiosity, does anyone know what channel you can catch the next episode of dark matter on? According to syfy's site, they're already on episode 3. But I don't see the next showing listed on my syfy channel.
Unless this is optimum specific (which would suck).

Yeah, sucked big time, but just as weird and unexpected this characters death was one of my favorite characters has risen from the ashes....literally. I just finished the last season of Sherlock, and The Final Problem was a little overwrought for me. Still, I loved the part...
Where Mycroft tried to antagonize Holmes into sacrificing him instead of Watson. The actor did such a good job at being unlikable in that moment, and yet the instant I realized what he was up to, it make me love Mycroft far more than I ever had previously.

I feel like Trek fans should be excited that it's coming back on screens in September after a 12 year absence... but as it is, "should" seems to be far more like the operative word here. It sucks that rather than the post-Dominion War, post-Voyager, post-Romulus blowing up series set in the 25th Century that that most of the fans wanted, they decided to do another prequel set before TOS... y'know, because that worked out so well last time? I really want to like Discovery, but the more you hear about the production troubles, it's hard to not feel so ambivalent about it.

I am not paying for a third streaming service for one show. Seems the CBS brain-trust are not only are content to make a "meh" prequel the fans aren't happy about, but decided to put it solely on their All-Access, because that's a great way to get more exposure for the show and bump up word of mouth. I'm half concerned they're actively trying to kill this show before it's even out. Either way, I imagine that most of the audience for Discovery will end up being outside the US, since it's going to be on Netflix internationally.

COMING ATTRACTIONS No idea, I can never keep up with these things! PLAYING NOW See above! REPLAY I can't even begin to count... Alien(s), Interstellar, Life of Pi, Breakfast at Tiffany's, V for Vendetta, Hunger Games, Lost in Translation (one of my absolute favourites), Fargo, Inception... the list goes on! As for series: Sopranos, Blackadder (classic)... currently rewatching 'Lost' (and remembering why I got so irritated with it in the first place back in the day ) RECOMMENDATIONS Goodbye Lenin - a bit of a different approach to the German split/unification theme (as opposed for example to The Lives of Others, which is also amazing), humourous and tragic at the same time. Only available in german with english subtitles afaik. The Road Home - vastly slower paced than Zhang Yimou's other famous films (Hero, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), but so sad and beautiful! Spirited Away - that's pretty much how I felt when I saw this the first time =) Dalas Buyers Club - pretty amazing performances by both Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto KICK ASS TV / MINI-SERIES Band of Brothers - if you haven't seen it, watch itttttt Pride & Prejudice (BBC version) - best adaptation of a book ever, and the cast is absolutely spot-on Fear the Walking Dead - haven't gone through the whole series yet, but I'm very much enjoying it so far! The Thick of It - another BBC series, and pretty amazing political satire

So, what's everyone think of the new Doctor in Doctor Who? Specifically that Jodie Whittacker is going to be our first female Doctor.
I was a little on the fence about the idea a couple years back, but the idea has definitely grown on me given how I loved Michelle Gomez's portrayal of the Master, who likewise was "traditionally" a male character.
The thing I'm most dreading though is that they're going to be as subtle as a Dalek poetry reading about the Doctor becoming a woman. Like most people, I got really sick and tired of the "Oh my god, the Doctor is OLD now" thing they kept doing in S8, which felt like a huge disservice to Capaldi as an actor. It'd definitely suck if the writers likewise kept reminding us that the Doctor is a woman every five minutes.
Personally if I was writing the show, I'd not even address the elephant in the room at first. I'd have the Doctor look in a mirror, say something along the lines of "Huh?" or "Haven't been blonde in a while"... then immediately move on with what she's doing, because what she looks like shouldn't really matter.
Maybe even make the joke be that the Doctor hasn't even realised she has become a woman for a few episodes. Storywise the Doctor might have had more important things to do in that time than paying attention to something as mundane as her gender. And given some of the eccentricities of past Doctors, it'd be rather in-character for her to have not noticed at first. Also regarding the Christmas Special; Would be interesting and thematically appropriate if they set the episode during the events of "The Tenth Planet", which likewise took place in a snowy location and had the Doctor battling Mondasian Cybermen.
Would also like to see how both Doctors handle their impending regeneration, especially since we've never really seen how a Time Lord (in their original incarnation) would perceive the change. Might be nice to see them recreate the First Doctor's regeneration, since aside from a single clip of the regeneration, the entire fourth part of that episode was sadly lost. Although recreating that scene with another actor might be considered trampling on Hartnell's legacy, rather than honouring it.
Probably all wishful thinking, but it'd be an excellent opportunity to do something like this.

Fun Rick and Morty theory I just cooked up, semi-spoilers for Season 3; Rick has a casual indifference towards his family and claims he could easily abandon them for one of the infinite other versions that exist in another dimension, something he's already done in "Rick Potion No.9".
In "The Rickshank Redemption", his family is shown to have been murdered by another Rick after "our" Rick turned down his offer of the portal gun, intending to give up science to be with his family. It's later revealed that this memory was entire fabricated... or so Rick later claims. We also saw earlier in the episode a memory of them standing in front of a portal.
Rather than his family dying, what if Rick's nonchalant attitude and apathy is because his original family in C-137 were lost when Rick invented the portal gun, that stranded him in a dimension that wasn't actually his own and with no way to get back?
(Despite Morty's claim he's from C-137 in "Rickshank Redemption", he only assumes this because he knows it's Rick's designation. But at no point does any version of Rick actually refer to our Morty as being from C-137, nor refer to Morty's original dimension aka Cronenburg World by that designation.)
Maybe Rick didn't know his home dimensions coordinates and was forced to jump between worlds at random, similar to the characters in the show Sliders. What if he eventually did figure out a way to get back to C-137, only to then discover another Rick had stepped into his place and his own family hadn't even noticed.
If something like that happened in multiple timelines, causing various Rick's to deliberately or unintentionally usurp their counterpart's families, that could definitely explain why Rick is so detached and has no qualms about abandoning them for other versions?
Or maybe it's because Rick is a huge tool... that too?
