I voted Ashley but in my first game Liara got the most eye-rolls due to her fainting.

I don't really dislike anyone... but I picked Kaidan.
The moment he opens his mouth, I hear Carth Onasi all over again, and I can't stand the "whiner with trust issues" type.

Tali, and by a wide margin.
I didn't dislike her. I just found her very boring compared to the rest. She's not the only character that is a walking codex entry in ME1, but she suffers from it the most. Garrus and Liara, who also are walking codices in the first game, at least have *some* dialogue that isn't an info dump on their species. Tali has none.
She doesn't get a personality until ME2.

Ashley, there's just nothing about her character that I like, at all.
And I hate how by just being nice to her she's all over my BroShep, back the fuck up bitch, not interested!

I'm not voting this poll because I like everyone, even Ashley and her xenophobia in the beggining of the journey, I don't know how her character evolve in ME3, but in my canon the fact she sacrificed herself to save Kirrahe's team it was poetically great and I cried a lot when I was choosing between her and Kaidan. I'm not a character-hater per se either, it must be a character who gets in my nerves deeply and annoyingly (I'm looking at you, prince Sebastian )

Even when ash was offering to sacrifice herself i felt she wanted a one up on kaiden (eye roll) lol. We get it. You don't like Ashley. Did you make this poll because you were genuinely interested or was it just a way for you to rag on Ashley? Because every post you've made in this thread is how much you hate her and what a bad character she was. You're even happy that she's winning. I think people get it by the second and third times you mention it.

Very hard not to cut one's feet. Tread with care, and try to put living souls ahead of pixels with sound sets. Once, I read a very interesting article on why we experience strong emotions in regards to fictional events and characters. It was clear as mud, and there are lots of theories.

Everything about this thread is tongue in cheek.Life is serious enough i dont have to be serious as a heart attack about a character in a game.Take a chill pill. Last i checked this was a online forum chances are you will come across opinions/people you may not care for. What you wont do is tell me what i can/cannot post about. Have a lovely day

I think Ashley will be the Bethany of DA2, for me. Bethany never gets to live because I like Carver too much to let him die. I just finished ME1 (now on ME2) and whenever my FShep speaks to Liara, I imagine FShep backing up slowly because Liara comes on way too strong, (even if it's my imagination). I get Leliana vibes from her...my characters never like to be ninja romanced (unless it's by Alistair, Zevran, or Anders). ETA: go get'em Ashley (she's winning the poll)

Liara, easily. Boring character, monotone and irritatingly "breathy" voice, and "I'm a virgin, nearly underage for my species, AND an excuse for you to indulge in lesbian fantasies without it ACTUALLY being girl-on-girl since the Mass Effect team won't develop the cojones for a true homosexual relationship until ME2!"

I used to like Liara and then the attempted writing changes to make her into the most well-liked squadmate permanently ruined any chance of tolerating her.
When I see Liara, I don't see a character. I see an attempt by writers to make her as significant as possible at the cost of plausibility. She's a reminder of the numerous frustrations I had with ME3 when player choice was sacrificed and relationships were determined for you. Had I been given the option to not have her on the team throughout ME3, it would have eased the saturation.

I have more hopes with Peebee in the Archeologist regard. I've never felt Liara was a real archeologist. Have you ever worked with archeologists? They are supertough, active and funny. Liara is more like an Historian / Classicist and book lover. And I'm a freaking Historian!

Always wanted to become an archaeologist myself, but ended up a geologist because of the realities of the turbulent world we live in. I am not attached to her job title & I am happy to call her a Prothean Classicist, heh. I was just very fond of the character concept as it initially appeared in ME1.

Aaaah, hehehehe, ok I don't agree with you (because I prefer ME2 Liara better) but I understand your point And I have to admit it: when I play ME1 in French, I freaking fell in love with her. She was SO adorable... Voices are a big thing for me, they can ruin me a character. In Liara's case, her monotone original voice always bores me. And it's not the voice actor's fault (I loved Harding in DA:I), I think my problems are more related to the indications she received. Fortunately, ME3 Liara is like a mix of ME1 and ME2. She is not as naive as in ME1 and definetely not as aggresive as in ME2.

For me, it's Tali. I'm not saying I hate her, I admit she's much better character in sequels, but in the first Mass Effect, she was just a walking encyclopedia.

I don't think Garrus likes my FShep. All he wants to do is calibrate.

He's very happy with the Normandy weapons and the crew treats him OK.
