I seriously don't like this. Yeah, maybe finding LI on your own is fun, but I really need to know if Jaal is available for Scott, because I don't want to waste my time trying to romance squadmate who isn't available for me. I don't want to be in a situation like this (from reddit): I don't see what the big deal with that is. I flirt with my gay friends--male and female--in real life, knowing full well there isn't a damn thing that's going to happen between us. No big deal. Makes it more realistic that some people are more flexible and comfortable with playful flirting and won't actually try to tame it until they realize that the other half is getting serious. I think THAT is the keypart

Here's the thing. People play games to escape to fantasy worlds. They play games where they can control life. If they can't, they mod like crazy to make it happen. That's the majority of gamers. The minority are pretty cool about vanilla games and romances that aren't meant to be.
If the media wants to pander to the majority, revealing a few LI's to ease their fears would most likely boost sales, but that's just how I see it from years of experience and playing my first Sims game in 2000.
If they think waiting is best, we just have to hope for the best.

Whelp, I already have 600 words and counting. I hope you guys are happy. OTL Not sure it'll be too much longer, but I do plan on posting it on Ao3. I tried to keep the characterization general but my odd sense of humor refused to be left out, as a result Ryder comes off as snarky. I'll have a link handy when I get done. :3EDIT: Pon.ee @princeenigmatic Fanfic AHOY~ First Contact. Complete with female and male versions, though there's no actual difference between them. *goes to hide under a leaf*

I'm still trying to figure out why the voice clip of him from that game sounds like Reyes. Our old pal male Hawke is supposed to be Reyes based on the IMDb info, unless Reyes is also an Angaran and they all have that accent.

I've seen a couple comments about this so I just went back and relistened to the Reyes clip followed by some from Jaal's voice actor and I have to say.....I don't think the accents sound the same at all. I think Reyes sounds like he has a spanish influenced accent and Jaal has an african influenced accent. They pronounce some words very differently, enough to sound like totally different accents to me. But I am a silly American who has almost no language ability outside of English, so I might be wrong.

Some actually said Reyes was Nicholas Boulton from the trailer so they know his voice better than me lol but yeah I think it's his voice in that game that threw me off. Jaal's voice actor's normal voice is more softly accented in the commercial demos. When I first saw Jaal I imagined it more like that. I guess we'll see!

I'm sort of getting that feeling myself, and hope it pans out that way! I don't think I want Javik levels of antagonistic (even though he's amazing XD), but I do sort of envision Jaal being very wary and distant at first. He's there to keep an eye on the new comers and doesn't trust them until they earn it, kinda deal. But I can also see curiosity getting the better of him at some point once some of the walls come down. That stare down in the trailer? Imagine that same stare watching your every move. Someone smack me. I don't even know anything about the guy. XD I also want to write fanfiction already but that way lies tears because the chances of him being how I imagine are low. OTLI had to watch the trailer a few times because everything happens so fast, but when I saw how close he got to Scott I was like "whoa... do Angaran's know what personal space means?" You don't even see him when they are bringing Scott in, then he just brushes through everyone and doesn't even hesitate to get in his face. That really sold me on him. Maybe they are like the Tamaraneans, and learn the language of other species through lip contact

First time I met him and he grabbed my unsuspecting Shep, I nearly jumped out of my seat as if he was grabbing me!

Okay, the stare down -- are you guys talking about the scene at about 1:10 where there are two profiles on screen, Scott on one side, and a blue-skinned person on the other? I don't think that's Jaal or even someone of his species. I mean the nose alone is pretty much human-shaped.

I'm talking about when Jaal walks down the steps and almost literally right into Scott's face based on the shadows. You see Scott look up at him then the scene changes to the other guy.

Oh okay; I would love to see the "outtakes" of that scene. Like if we kept watching we'd see Jaal's model just walk face-first into Scott's model and, yay, crazy glitches ensue

Nothing can beat what happens when you remove the covers from woohooing sims... I'll see if I can find it. It showed the funny angles the characters are in and how they are miles apart. Tali had 2 masks when she takes one off to show male Shep, Garrus is in the room while a naked female Shep showers, making out with an empty bed, etc...

I don't see what the big deal with that is. I flirt with my gay friends--male and female--in real life, knowing full well there isn't a damn thing that's going to happen between us. No big deal. Makes it more realistic that some people are more flexible and comfortable with playful flirting and won't actually try to tame it until they realize that the other half is getting serious. I think THAT is the keypart My point is, some people are just flirty regardless of intent and have to sometimes shut things down when it becomes clear that the other side is serious. Sometimes, you get shut down on. I see nothing wrong with that.

In a video game, the guy or girl you like could finally turn you down and by that point you're shit outta luck. Also there's the idea that the video game world is escapism from the real world, so you kind of want to meet that special someone and live happily ever after

I think you played a different game than me. No one in DA2 copped a feel lol Anders thought I liked him because I was nice to him but I let him down gently. Otherwise, I went for who I wanted and that was that. Romance-wise, DA2 was the most pleasant experience of any BioWare game. I had a lot of fun crafting characters for the various romance options.

First Contact - Few things can properly prepare one for a first contact situation. And golly, you're gonna write more? You, my friend, are playing with fire, but I personally thank and salute you On a more speculatory note; if the Kett aren't going to be 100% evil and have sympathetic motives, what if we have to choose between them and the Angarans? BioWare has said that we haven't seen all the squadmates yet (which I'm still rather dubious about). What if Jaal and a Kett are mutually exclusive part members depending on which side we choose? At this point, I'm not too sure how I'd feel about that.

And man I would be so disappointed if I had to choose between either a Kett or Jaal. It'd be interesting, yes, but at the same time I'm so hyped for this game I want everything in one playthrough. I can has both, Bioware? Pleeeaaase?

Excuse me while I translate my urban black colloquialisms. copped a fit=having an attitude/being angry/etc Fans were angry over everyone being bi whichever Bioware game everyone was bi in, which spurred the changes made in later games.
