Agreed. I actually find myself looking for it on BSN Prime and am disappointed when it is not there. LMAO Who needs to look on BSN Prime any longer... There are still lost souls to be saved. I am trying to throw out as many life rafts as possible to bring them all home.

Oh look. The idiot buttons are back. Looks like I'll be sticking to the ChatBox afterall. Enjoy your cumbersome forum. Is this for real?

Oh look. The idiot buttons are back. Looks like I'll be sticking to the ChatBox afterall. Enjoy your cumbersome forum. They never left. But if you want to... we won't stop you. Quite the opposite. Annnnd now BSN Theme has the buttons back at the top again. Right after I got used to them being at the bottom. After they had previously been at the top. Yummy, don't make me thrash you. Stahp the madness. i.imgur.com/u2fhlRI.gifDR, pls. I'm trying very hard ok. LOOK HOW DESPONDENT BRITNEY IS. But seriously, buttons on top is the way to go I think. The buttons on BSN prime are more streamlined into the design, the ones here look and feel awkward anywhere but the top. Honestly you get used to it. And it's not like we need to keep acclimated to BSN Prime for much longer...

There is the other side that most fora around the internet have standardized to placing the buttons at the bottom, creating discontinuity for people who visit more than one.
Also, in my experience, compromise is almost always a better solution than arbitrarily choosing one extreme or another. As I mentioned in more than one post, for several days, we had the ideal, no-work-involved short-term solution that represented compromise - there was a theme available for people who preferred the buttons at the bottom.
I still don't understand why that was changed back, when by all accounts, it was unnecessary. With all themes except one having buttons at the top, there were plenty of options for the "top" camp, and no reason to really remove the last remaining option for the "bottom" camp, which required no work since the answer was simply to leave it as it was.
So one theme with the buttons at the bottom is surely a reasonable compromise, is it not? Do we really have to implement an extreme no-compromise solution, and if so why?

BSN Prime's interface differs enough that I personally don't homogenize the two. I'm just as good with using bottom buttons there as I am top buttons here. I imagine other forums would be the same way. I think when you have interfaces that are very similar but have slight differences, those differences will be more jarring than if the interfaces differ more overall.

I still don't understand why it was determined that the compromise had to go. Oh I never said that, and I don't control the themes. I would be in favor of several themes with down buttons, even duplicates of all of them if it didn't strain the system. I use the BSN theme and prefer the buttons at the top but if there was a BSN (down) theme that had the buttons down, I'd be all for it.

That's what I'm saying, though, we had a theme with them on the bottom until a day or so, ago. What I'm suggesting is that instead of homogenizing them all to the top, that we step back to the compromise solution that we were using for most of the week up until the last switch.
I realize there are options for a proper long-term solution, but those take work. In the short-term, we have a reasonable low-work compromise that we're not using, and I feel like it doesn't make much sense to do that when the compromise is very reasonable, and we were content using it until yesterday.

I don't really see this as a huge enough issue to make a thread about it, it's just a minor inconvenience. You guys are more than capable of adapting to a new layout.

I don't really see this as a huge enough issue to make a thread about it, it's just a minor inconvenience. You guys are more than capable of adapting to a new layout. I don't think most people are going to apply a standard that says an issue has to be "huge" or personally qualify as a problem to you in order to be considered. Even so, reading over some of the reactions, the issue is clearly important enough to other people to be discussed, whether or not you think it is. It's also very dismissive to suggest that because you are okay with something, that anyone who disagrees should "just get over it." One of the reasons for creating an alternative forum is for people to have discussions, and have their viewpoints considered, whether everyone who reads it agrees with the viewpoint or not. Most the people with a preference were still respectful of the fact that others disagreed.

Actually, wouldn't this resolve the issue? Apologies if it basically dumps more work in your lap, but if the adjustment is determined per theme, couldn't you mirror the most popular themes with 1 version buttons top and one version bottom? For example, I see them at the bottom now, too, and I do find I much prefer it that way. I get used to it more quickly because that's the way it worked on both BSN and TBF. Plus, it's how the other sites I'm on (some on Proboards) do it, too, so it keeps it simpler for me. I can do it, but I'm waiting for the bugs to disappear from each theme. Once that's settled, then I can begin making more. I agree with this notion since creating a new theme after-the-fact will make for less bugs to deal with then if a new theme's created now.

The way we ended up doing this next door was:
Theme Manager > Create New > Copy Existing
Once we'd settled on the themes, we just duplicated them and switched the buttons, so people could choose which.
