The Character Romance thread (Official)

It would be interesting to see what the fans, not only on this forum, but elsewhere as well, what the reaction would be if in the next game, the characters that are not squadmates get the same amount of content as the squadmates got in MEA while the squadmates get the same amount of content as the characters  who were not squadmates? I would be all for it. Obviously I'm talking about romance content.

I think LEsbians and gay dudes never had a only gay/bi Allien now that I think of it (dudes didn't have a bi Allien)
Raeka (can't really think of more female alliens atm LOL) as female only interrest and Evfra/Avitus/Drack as only gay, Bioware do it

We had a lesbian alien squadmate, but she was only DLC and gets killed off no matter what. I mean, she's not romanceable either, but it's not like that matters as much in the face of the Bury Your Gays trope tbh.

Raeka can die, and they usually don't bring back a character as a love interest if a lot of people's playthroughs have that character dead. Then again, there's Anders, so maybe they'll pull that with Raeka.

Saren was attractive in that evil way lol

We don't see Raeka die, it's just heavily implied. That gives BW the ability to bring her back without it being the weirdest retcon ever.

I'd personally prefer they just introduce a new character, though. The fact that she can "die," and that they'd have to shove both potential world states into one path... BW doesn't always do great with bringing back characters (side-characters or companions); I'd rather they just start with a clean slate.

Yeah, if they finally give us a lesbian squadmate in a full game, it'd be for the best to make a new character.

What Raeka has going for her is that as far as I remember, there wasn't a corpse, or if, we didn't see it in too much detail. Kett could have easily kept her alive to study if they really want to bring her back.

I think I need the Evfra romance for anthropological reasons (aside from personal gain /cough). Avera's romance is really too short to say much about angara behaviour, but I would like to know if even someone as terminally grumpy as Evfra would start writing e-mails that start out with my heart, my stars, my sun and moon, or whatever it was Jaal said. Is that normal for them, like is that the baseline tone angara would expect when they have a lover, like a human would maybe expect a standard nickname? Would someone more reserved like Evfra write a love letter that looks quite normal to a human and then add that he knows he comes off as cold? Come on, Bioware, make Evfra romanceable, for men since we're lacking in that department. It's for the good of the lore!

If he were gay, he might also be another one in the books on the "Doesn't Make Sense" (TM) sides of gay characters, next to Avitus, being a tactician, militia leader, and a very abrasive person. I mean, I assume that's what someone whose gayness "wouldn't make sense" looks like, basing it on stupid stereotypes for homosexual men. But actually, I don't even know because I still have no idea what that statement really means, in regards to Cullen (which is where I think it was originally made?) or anyone. Maybe it "didn't make sense" for Cullen because it was sort of implied he may have had a crush on the Female Mage Warden origin ten thousand years ago? But not on the Male Mage Warden? Which is a great reason to say someone can't be bisexual, of course.

Evfra would probably also have a dead husband, but at least that one would be a decade dead and hopefully not the main drama source in the scenes leading up to the romance because it's not like he doesn't have anything else going on in his life. Just let Evfra send you to a labour camp that has shields only SAM can crack and recover old archive data on exaltation and experimentation specimen there. Then he can tell you something like: "We studied the data. This is where my family was brought, too. My mothers, my siblings, my husband, my children... I at least know what became of them now. It's not something anyone wants to read, but it's better than not knowing, for me and many others." Interest in men established. Or if that's too complicated, Jaal could mention that XY on Voeld is the colony Evfra used to live at with his husband in some comment.

I think I'm really just fanficcing the gay Evfra romance right now because I know it won't happen but I just think it would be interesting and he's a good character to develop further. Give me two more weeks without a patch and I'm probably going to have all the dialogues written out - with multiple flirt choices, too. Hey, I don't have to pay for voice actors in my imagination.

I do think there should be a gay alien before any more bisexual male aliens are added. My preference would be Avitus or Evfra and then a bi Kandros. But I would be fine with a gay Kandros also. I love the idea of him becoming an LI because I am turian trash, he doesn't have the recent baggage Avitus does, and they have his VA come in all the time for MP. At the same time he would probably never be a squadmate so... I would rather men get an exclusive squadie if they add it in DLC form *hopefully free with deluxe+. (I say this all the time but I would rather us just share all the LI but that is probably never going to happen again... I can dream for equal content...)

If I was feeling super greedy I would say give me a Gay Dunn.   I already saw one thread of the dudes begging them not to do that.

Do you think there are even any (out) gay men in the studio? How hard is it, if you're a clueless straight guy and you've been called out on it, as MEA team have, to pull over the gay guy and say, can you check out this scene? Or look over this dialogue? What do you think?
