I finished the game a couple of weeks ago. I enjoyed it but playing the alpha kind of made things harder to enjoy. There's a number of things that were thrown out that I don't think were such a good idea. For example when you met the spectre, he had voice acting and a portrait. And he sounded like an english gentlemen...of course I understood on the spot he was the Changing God but he came across as sympathetic. I did not enjoy the whole story with the daughter and the whiny castoffs who treat him like a father figure. I thought having the Changing God being a megalomaniac genius was enough, he could have been a Mister House sadly well no... The castoffs came across as meh. I though the fact that the Tide made them a danger to others was the more interesting thing about them, otherwise they are a bunch of nearly immortal brats with a massive case of daddy issues. In the alpha, important npcs like companions, the spectre ect had a portrait when they talked to you...for reason unknown they took that away. It makes no sense to me whatsoever.
In the alpha , creating the character was super long...and yes too long but you had to attune to the tides via some small scenario explaining each tides. And that was interesting.
About the ending...I sacrificed all the castoffs...they are super long lived and they cause issues to "normal" people via the Tides. So I'm like let's be noble about that, they are an experiment gone wrong. That's when the Sorrow went "Are you sure...that's kind of a bad decision." which led me to WTF Sorrow you just made me a whole speech about that and that's why you're killing castoffs, I was annoyed at the narrative backpedaling so I went "yes I'm sure nuke us all". Turns out somehow without the castoff , things are worse because reasons..........
Anyway I still enjoyed the experience because there's nothing like that on the market, The Bloom was super cool , the mere were a nice narrative gameplay idea...and I think I will replay a megalomaniac castoff who think he is the Changing God which is not totally out there because he would have the changing god in his head so...
And OH YES , It seems Beamdog is making a new edition of Planescape :Torment ! I'm pretty excited because I enjoyed the game but didn't finish because the gameplay was too awful for me to go on.

SERIOUSLY!!??? As to spoilered stuff: Removing portraits sounds like a bad choice. But reworking the Spectre sounds like a good idea if it was obvious to you that it was the Changing God. Myself, I had no idea until he revealed himself.
Sacrificing all the castoffs is a "bad choice" (for a given value of "bad")because they have been operating for centuries, for good or for ill. If they all die at once, that leaves a power vacuum. Chaos. Upheaval. Even if it all settles down, for the short term, things get chaotic. They may need killing, but there are still consequences for your action.

Wow, Beamdog is doing Planescape? Not sure how i feel about that. I mean the combat will probably be amazing, but the writing for Siege of Dragonspear was god awful. Still Gaider is there now and he is the leader of the writing team, maybe he whipped them into shape. Excited to see more when they announce it, its 48 hours from now? A chance maybe Avellone worked on it with them? I mean he and Gaider has been flirting about working together before, but that was Kotor related.

I doubt they would change the narrative of the game much. At least I hope so. And I was thinking, like you, Gaider and Avellone knowing each others they would talk about additional content and what can and can't be done.

I see it's time for a new pt. This time I'm going to mix the companions a bit more.
