Just figured I would let everybody know that I'm currently working on restructuring the Mass Effect section, so some threads will be getting moved around a bit. After I'm done the section will look like this:
Andromeda (unchanged)
MP (Unchanged)
Story, Lore and General Discussion (merged previously separate ME 1,2 and 3 boards)
Character and Romance (unchanged)
Modding and User Creations (new)
Game Mechanics and Character Builds (new)
This allows the forums to break up into the more specialized topics that people have been asking for without making so many subforums that each one is in danger of being a ghost town.
I'm open to feedback about doing a similar thing to the Dragon Age section, as well.

Well, the new structure wouldn't be my first choice.
For Story / Lore it seems like rolling all three games together would work well enough. Ditto with Character / Romance. Could even argue those forums could be merged.
I posted this in the other forum, but doesn't seem to me that mechanics for the trilogy should necessarily be a single forum. ME1 mechanics are pretty much nothing like in the later games. ME2 and ME3 have some under the hood similarities, but the games are different enough that it doesn't make a lot of sense to discuss them together anyway.
As long as I they don't devolve into just having "metathreads" for individual game mechanics and strategy then it might not be the end of the world though.

What about MEA MP? Mixing it with ME3 MP forum might get confusing. Yeah. I'd say when the time comes, MEA gets it's own MP section but for now, MEA MP topics should go on MEA's general boards. |

This makes sense for now as the forum is just beginning to grow. Once some of these section outgrow the single-forum format, they can be broken out into their own section. This also makes sense in an archive mindset because the older games have already happened and aren't likely to get new information, strategies, etc. in the foreseeable future. MEA, on the other hand, is soon to start and it'll make sense to have it have it's own section since it'll be the new, cool kid on the block. (do i make sense?   )

Yeah, I think grouping the three story boards together is fine for now. When there's too many boards, they get less traffic somehow. It can always be changed back when the need arrives.

It's something I'll see how it goes, and if it feels like mechanics discussions should have 3 separate threads then I'll switch it over to that. If it just becomes 3 metathreads or too crowded in number of threads, then I'll likely break them up into their own sections. What about MEA MP? Mixing it with ME3 MP forum might get confusing. MEA MP will get its own section closer to release. I'm thinking probably around N7 day, figuring that's the current estimation for the big info dump on thh game. |
