But didn't you just turn Kaidan down? I only went to talk to him "for science" because I suspected it would be a romantic conversation and wanted to answer folks Question about whether he would or wouldn't. Left to my own devices, the conversation wouldn't have happened until much later in the game so I feel no guilt reloading to just before the conversation and saving it for later as originally planned. Oh, I missed that you reloaded

Nah, I'm good. I miscalculated. Thane dying was nothing like Blackwall's judgement and I am incapable of flouncing away from that into someone else's arms. Since it seems like everyone is going to ignore Thane's existence, I'm even more inclined not to romance anyone else. My Shepherd staying single is the only representation that Thane happened. They're not all going to ignore Thane. Something comes up during the Citadel DLC. Just make sure you check your terminal in the new "base" location that opens up. So just to be clear on my options here. If I do Citadel maintaining my single state, there will be discussion about Thane by my companions that somehow recgonizes I was in a romance with him. But if I do Citadel having started a relationship with Kaidan, I will miss out on that unique Thane mance dialogue. Yes? No?

There is Thane romance content in Citadel DLC that you will not get if you pursue another romance, however it is not companion dialogue. I can't really say more without saying exactly what happens.

Okie smokie. I'm going to the Citadel DLC single. It's just this "Anderson's Apartment" thing, right?

Yes. Go to the apt, explore the place (it's really nice!), and read the email on the terminal in the office. That will start the mission part of the DLC.
Once the mission is done, you will get emails from various people to hang out and do stuff. Or you can randomly meet up with them (no emails for those). Only a few come in at a time so you will have to leave the Citadel to do a mission before there are any more. Also, certain ones won't be available if you haven't done the right mission yet. Like, since you've already done Grissom Academy, you might get one from Jack.
The party is the last part of the DLC. Most people hold off on doing that until just before the point of no return mission. By that time, you will have all potential attendees available for the party, if you choose to invite them.
The meet-ups can be done whenever but I don't know if any are still doable after the party. I don't think so, but I could be wrong. I always do all of them beforehand.
Note: on the Thane-related meet-up, make sure to do all of it in one sitting, otherwise you will miss out on some very important content.

Just a note: I've gotten Thane romance content in Citadel dlc while in a relationship with another, but there IS a part that you don't get if you're not "single." For your first playthrough with these heavy Thane feels, it's would probably better for you to have that extra bit. Just saying that another LI doesn't lock out ALL Thane-romance content.
Edit to clarify: this is with a Thane romance import and a relationship with somebody else after his death.

I'm investigating the Asari Colony. Guess I'll bring Kaidan and Liara. This place is creepy. Samara! That was a pretty weak bomb. Talk about confusing. Whoa. Some feels when Samara tries to kill herself. I was thinking she was going to shoot her daughter and trying to think how I'd react when - crap, that gun is pointed at her own head! Sweet! Samara joined! So much better than Liara.

There is content but not romance content. You always have the memorial and get the 3 messages from Thane. The fourth message is romance only, as is the "meeting" after the party.

That Turian with the teenager in the Refugee camp is a sweetheart.
It was a bit sad to walk into the hospital again....
Jacob having a baby. Hope the baby is cuter than him.
I didn't want to say goodbye to Samara on the Citadel *sigh*
Ah- Steve finally speaks on the Citadel. - and it was underhwelming. I feel like I knew the elderly lady with Alzheimer's better than him. Or the human breaking up with her lover to be with the Asari. Or the married Turian Asari couple. Yeah. I knew all of them more than I know Steve. Fighter pilot, friend of James, a dead husband he's mourning. That's it. That's all I know.
I logged off thinking that I hate the fetch quests in ME3. Don't mind the ones I pick up while I'm already at a place. But the finding and scanning planets, even with a list? Bring back scanning for platinum as needed, thanks

Steve has more than one Citadel visit. :amirite: Plus, you also have the Citadel dlc... Oh, all the hanging out scenes I did weren't part of the DLC then? Someone said Horizon? Was the point of no return on having dinner with Kaidan. And that it would be obvious what the true final mission was for doing Citadel as late as possible. But I'm thinking I will do Citadel single, then go have lunch with K. Right now, all I have is the Quarian mission and a pile of fetch quests even though I felt like I nailed all the available star points. In other news, I tapped my hamster. And felt sad- who will take care of my space hamster when Shepherd suicides? So, plan tomorrow is: Quarian Mission (Javik and Kaidan will accompany) Fetch, Shepherd, fetch. Citadel DLC And make my final decision on romance by dinner with Kaidan. Surely that's enough chance to give Kaidan a shot woo me.

Some of them don't trigger until certain points, like through conversation or messages and such. You will know the point of no-return as the game will tell you -- I often wait until late in the game to play the Citadel dlc. I don't know what the cut-off is for delaying lunch with Kaidan because I always meet him right away. But if UpUpAway(?) said the cut-off is Horizon (a mission you don't have yet but you'll know when you get it) I guess that's the case. Depending on whether or not you want to play through again, I will tell you that there are some differences in the Citadel dlc depending on your romance status. So if you play again I just wanted you to know that locking in your romance first will make some changes. The meet-ups are also different depending on if you're romancing that person or not. No pressure, just informing you. You could even lock in Kaidan after the Citadel dlc campaign if you want to -- once the story is completed you have freedom in when you play the rest of the content. Edit note: the difference between the base-game meet-ups and the Citadel dlc meet-ups is where they ask to meet you (dlc has it's own location), if you wanted to know the difference.

Edit note: the difference between the base-game meet-ups and the Citadel dlc meet-ups is where they ask to meet you (dlc has it's own location), if you wanted to know the difference. Miranda's apartment meetup definitely expires before the Horizon mission. I usually play a MaleShepard and quite frequently he's dated Ashley in ME1 and Miranda in ME2. I have delayed all of his options until after Thessia and then made a LI choice at that time (replaying just from that point to change LIs). I've never actually tried delaying any of the them past Horizon though, so maybe the Ashley/Kaidan choice stays open a little longer. I usually wait to play the meetup parts of the Citadel DLC until just after doing Horizon, but I usually do everything before starting the endgame. Some people prefer to wait to do the Citadel DLC until after they do the endgame... me, I like getting the extra mods and money I can spend before entering the endgame. phoray - The Citadel DLC has three very distinctive parts to it - First is a mission sequence (in 3 parts); then a bunch of meetups; and finally a party. A lot of people do the mission parts early and then space the meetups out over the rest of the game after they run into various ME2 squad mates (usually in a mission first then followed by some sort of meetup on the Citadel in the regular game) and after they lock into their LI. As for the party, some people do it just before starting the endgame, some prefer to do it after for... reason in spoiler (to make their final moments with the game a little more upbeat).

So, I told them in ME2 not to start a war with the Geth. They do anyway. Tali blames Legions death and I think it's my fault. But there he is, as some sort of hologram. (I don't understand that at all. They needed Legion to be alive I guess)
Then Loghain tries to kill me with "friendly fire"oh man. Renegade interupt so tempting and "be glad I need your ships"so accurate. I take back liking him anymore. He sucks in every role.
Then Morrigan wants experiments on him. Seriously? No. Fuck you Quarians, if it weren't for the war I need you to win and Tali being sad, I would abandon you to your deaths for a homeworld you don't even friggen need.

Well. I didn't want to hook Shepherd's brain to the Geth Consensus but it didn't seem I had a choice. Made me dislike the Quarians even more. But now I guess I get Geth War Assets. Legion being Legion but not Legion is a bit depressing. I personally define "a person" as their collection of memories. So it's like a zombie Legion is walking around and his lack of memory more sad than his actual death. Denying Morrigan what she wants is so easy no matter the game. I refuse to walk into Life Support anymore but my eyes find Thane's name on the death list every time I get off the elevator. Do I need to finish all these fetch quests before I attack the Geth Reaper signal ship?

Also, re Citadel fetch quests - you should be able to drop any of them off anytime between now and when you start the endgame run (point of no return we keep talking about). The concern with the earlier ones was because if the Citadel Coup that trigger right after you do Priority Tuchanka.
