I would love to be completely fluent in ASL ( I am moderately fluent, able to hold a lengthy adult conversation) but not entirely 100% fluent and I certainly don't have the skills or ability to interpret because my brain doesn't work that fast. But I would settle for 100% fluency. Oh, and I would love to find a cure for Meniere's disease which plagues me daily.

I've gotten slower and less likely to retain information... stoopid getting old stuff...

My advice, find some good books or better yet, someone else who also wants to learn and/or is maybe more advanced than you and hang out with them....get them to teach you stuff, and then just keep practicing. The more you practice, the better you'll get.

That's how I began learning American Sign Language, then I went to College and studied for a year....mind you that back more than 15 years ago now though I have kept it up, and I have been relying on my skills a lot more since being diagnosed with a 50-60 db fluctuating hearing loss in both ears due to Meniere's disease. There are days my ears ring so loudly, I can't hear anything but the ringing....and I would much rather sign than speak because I'm afraid that I am shouting at people. Also, it relieves me of the burden of lip-reading; how much concentration it takes to always be lip reading. And if there's more than one person talking at me....forget it, it's too much. Thankfully, I have a great team of coworkers who are extremely supportive, understanding and patient.

Why learn a language only so few understand? You wont be able to find anyone to communicate with.
If you have to, learn military sign language instead, a lot more people can communicate with it.

Because there is a rich history and wonderful culture around ASL. Granted, you are correct in say that the majority of people don't know or understand ASL, but there's more to American Sign Language than just the language itself. There's hundreds of years worth of tradition, values, history and culture that come along with it. The Deaf community is small, yes, but also extremely tight-knit (not unlike the Military, I suppose; the sense of brotherhood. Where ever you go, no matter the Unit you were a part of, you're accepted into a unique group)

This and more in my new book: things to do when you are incredibly bored & lonely and don't know what the fuck to do with your life.

There's actually several ways to sign the "F Bomb" as you call it in American Sign Language, depending on the grammatical usage and context, whether it's an adjective, verb (or transitive verb), adverb or even a noun.
Note: the second video towards the bottom is completely done in ASL
Note 2: You don't have to be Deaf (culturally Deaf, someone who is born without hearing and whose first language in American Sign Language) deaf (someone who has lost their hearing due to other factors such as age or accident) or Hard of Hearing (as I am) to want or need to learn ASL. There's just as much reason to learn ASL as a second, third or even fourth language as there is to learn French, German, Japanese, Italian, Xhosa or any other language from any other cultural group around the world. And I would argue that learning ASL even to the level of conversational fluency is a remarkable skill to have because it's such a rare language, and yet on the off-chance that you meet someone from the Deaf/deaf/HoH community who communicates in ASL, you will be able to communicate with them.....and they will not only appreciate your knowledge and effort, but you will have gained a friend that day because the Deaf/deaf/Hoh community place high value on communication and relationships and they respect and appreciate any gestures or efforts made from the 'outside larger Hearing community' to learn their language.

Is there anywhere near you, any organization that serves the Deaf community, that offers classes? Local colleges might do courses, I can't remember exactly where my sister learned basic signing from when she did a brief course on it?
Unless you are deaf, I don't see the point, you might as well start learning Sumerian cuneiform inscription, there is even more history to it as it was one of the first complex written languages ever. You say this like most people don't attempt to learn cuneiform and other ancient languages?

After many days, I have thought of a new question.
What is your ridiculous irrational fear?
I am absolutely terrified of the dentist, even the mere thought of going there gives me a near heart attack. No real reason, unless I've blocked it out. My dentist is probably more afraid of me still though haha.

I've had some unease with the idea of dreaming a number of times prior to bed, due to "concerns" about not being able to wake myself during an unpleasant dream and such. It was nothing major and didn't last long thankfully.

I have a, probably irrational, fear of needles and syringes. But NOT because of the pain, I really couldn't care less about that, I fear that they are contaminated and I might contract aids or hepatitis. There were a couple cases of people getting infected by dirty needles, since that needles really make me uneasy.

Why aren't you all more concerned about them? True story, a girl I with is deathly afraid of moths and butterflies. Not sure how far this extends to other big winged looking insects. I think it was because one flew near her ear as a child, and now she is convinced they are all after her brain π

I mean, look at the evidence we have;
Caterpillars are all hairy and wriggly, allowing them to lure you into a false sense of security because they're confined to leaves or the ground. But then bam! They go and change their entire bodies to sprout wings, while adorning themselves with colourful patterns!
Somehow people arrive at the false conclusion that these changes make them "pretty", rather than being at all concerned that their foe has now covered itself in camouflage and developed flight capability, as if they are tooling up for war!
Wake up, people!
