I see where Artemis is coming from, but I don't find anything about how the asari are depicted to be androgynous. I wish they were depicted more androgynously, but... The non-binary users I know from a comm I mod for don't consider the asari to really be good non-binary representation, and it goes back to the fact the ME team has never really done anything with that. They're always depicted very femininely and with very gendered language, in ways that make it obvious they are sort of "coded" female even though they're not actually canonically women. Maybe the Kett or Angara will be more androgynous in presentation, despite the Angara apparently having their own gender binary. Also, on a semi-related note, a DLC should give us the option to set up an unromanced Gil with a gaylien.

Maybe the Kett or Angara will be more androgynous in presentation, despite the Angara apparently having their own gender binary. Also, on a semi-related note, a DLC should give us the option to set up an unromanced Gil with a gaylien. Urgh... I want to stay out of this, but... good for them, but as an agender person (which I think is considered non-binary) I do consider them a good representation because non-binary does not always mean you are blessed with a slender androgynous form; you can born a non-binary person and be born with a hulking masculine body or a extremely curvy big-boobed body; it is what it is and doesn't change the person you are inside. Yes yes yes yes all of that is true; the asari could be better and were they invented in 2017 instead of 2007 I believe they would be. But if an asari calls herself "her" in game 1 they can't really change that in game 3 or 4. They also haven't really explained how language/translation works in ME trilogy; for all we know, the asari do NOT understand gender, and their pronoun is not "the asari version" of "her" but is simply a pronoun. Really, in their native language(s) there is zero reason to assume they would have even the faintest concept of gender. Furthermore, it does not help that in English, the language we're using, there is no non-gender singular personal pronoun; people try to use "they" or invented words, and these things are slowly catching on, but we are attempting to change the way we think as well as speak, and it's very, very hard. And as I showed above, I do not believe they are always depicted femininely. But I DO AGREE that the team has not taken the concept far enough, indeed not very far at all. But to me personally they mean a lot, so that's probably why it steams me up when they're tossed aside as strippers and such by other players lol Sorry guys >.<

Oh and I would just like to point out that dancing on poles is NOT female exclusive Maybe Brodie pole dances in his free time to entertain the Tempest crew...
...the way that came out makes hypothetical Brodie sound a bit more hookerish than I intended.
Oh well, that could work to. It would certainly be a different kind of character than we are usually presented with.

Bioware needs to release a Gil-lead film about his time as a struggling engineering student who didn't know who he was... until the pole. Was that double entedre intentional? You know, it'd be a great fanfic premise: Scott Ryder gets hired as bodyguard for a strip joint and soon realizes it's more as a bodyguard for their star performer: The Tease aka Gil, who's a sly, playful presence on the stage but a sweet-yet-complicated, troubled figure underneath. Meanwhile, Scott's family has no idea of his new job and tells them he's doing security detail for the senator's son.

All this talk of asari really makes me wish Bioware had made them more androgynous. I think they would've been much more interesting of a race if they had been. Of course, they were initially designed to be sexy space babes... But yeah. Interesting topic to think about anyway

Maybe if we surpass all the other threads in excitement and page numbers, they'll notice and throw us a bone. Okay, probably not, but it's a pipe dream.

GUYSI've got further details on Gil's appearance from guy who described him as ,,handsome'' ( in this polish article) He says Gil looks like an average human from previous Mass Effect games (meh). That was his impression when he first saw him anyway. He's well-built (but he's less muscular than James Vega). He's got square jaw and short hair just like Cullen/Alistair. And he has very distinctive copper hair (daveliam was right!)

I'm really glad we got some details on his visuals. Now, if only they can send a screenshot...

But, seriously, I'm not surprised about his body. Based on my source, all three of the human guys my friend saw shared the same body type. Per usual!

Being the fussy boy who always needs a direct quotes and sources that I am, I went down and tracked the Hassler's info www.gry-online.pl/S043.asp?ID=14253732&N=1#post0-14257543Good chap Hassler misread a few things in extreme excitement So we got some corrections to do. Gil doesn't have copper hair, the author of the article talks about copper skin. Direct translation of the quote: "Engineer Gil looks like an average human male from previous installements - at least that was my first impression. He's well built (though not as good as James Vega), in addition to that he's got a square jaw and short hair a la Alistair/Cullen. What makes him more distinct is his copper skin color (though he's American/European, judging by his looks and manner) Source of translation: me, I'm Polish
