Which THREE DA2 companions are must-have for you?

That was the problem with Sebastian - he's not Varric.

Aveline, Isabella, and Merrill. May sometimes change out izzy with Varric, but not often.

Anyway, he's very interesting. He really wants to be such a pious man, whom he seems, but that so hard to him. I like his fight with his demons (desire, envy, and vengeance), and when finally, the vengeance defeats him.

I like Isabela, sadly in the current playthrough, I lose her. So hard to rival her. Maybe next time.

Pretty much gonna agree with the reddit results.Varric,Aveline and Anders.Not because i like them the most,but mostly due to party synergy.

How can the edgelord & the ISIS mage be in the top 3?

I roll a DW rogue, so in all three games I always had one tank and one healer mage in the party. In DA2, that was Aveline and Anders.

To complete the squad, the third would generally be just my favorite companion. In DA2, that would of course be Varric .

Varric for me then Isabella and Aveline. I'd be a mage. Aveline can be the tank Iasbella and Varric for the humour.

Yeah I tend to switch out as well  but they're the ones I tend to use most in DA2 as having Isabella is almost like having a second warrior due to her being a Dual wielder although she's a rogue. Dual wielder's I often find aer almost like having secondary warriors. Especially if they can land the first strike from stealth. She's not a tank like Aveline but she knows how to hurt the bad guys.

Yeah usually I play 1 mage 1 rogue 2 warriors as my formation in DA but that's mostly in DAO and DAI but then in those games you have bigger fights to worry about. In DA2 it's not so much of a problem so sometimes I go with the second rogue who acts as like a second warrior. That role is usually filled by Isabella with Varric as a ranged rogue. But again it depends on what I am as well. I tend to do it that way because you only really have 2 warriors to pick from in Fenris and Aveline yes you can have Carver if you'er a mage in Act 1 as well but with regards the sibling they're not really there after Act 1 so I don't really count them. Because after Act 1 you can only really use them in the DLC's and the finale in truth. I started my latest playthrough earlier as a warrior but I'm now going to have to put my playthrough on hold because the hard drive I have the game installed on has just died shame really as I've just recently figured out how to get mods working on DA2 and was trying some of them out. It was just hairstyle mods for now but I had some other mods I'd have liked to try as well on other playthrough's as I would need to play a mage for one of my other ones .So I'm going to need to replace the hard drive before I can continue. I should be able to because it'#s my secondary hard drive that's died and the save file is on my main one. It's just a case of reinstalling everything once my replacement comes

Yeah I normally keep a back up of any mosd I like either on an external hard or flash drive so if I do  need to remove stuff or I lose anything I have a backup. Unfortunately I didn't have any backups of my DA2 mods I downloaded recently but that's because I prefer to test them and see whether I like them  before I make any backups. I have now just redownloaded them now onto an external drive while I remembered what they were mostly so I can just transfer them straight to the new drive once it's in to try to make it easier. I don't normally keep save files though as once I'm finished a game I normally  delete it. Or at least I do tend to delete the save files. I often keep the ME and DA games themselves installed though as I'm often returning to them to do new playthroughs. Hopefully I should get it tomorrow as I put it on fast delivery so it shouldn't hold me back too much just means I'm down £100.
