I was really worried about my setup because while I have the recommended RX 480, my CPU is below the min spec (FX 6300) and I'm aware it's a rather unbalanced combination. But I got to try out Battlefield 1 yesterday and was shocked at how well it performs, in the single player campaign I got a steady 80-90FPS on 1080p with ALL settings on Ultra. I thought I'd have to settle for 30FPS on Medium-High for MEA, but I'm a lot more optimistic now. Provided it won't be a complete optimization nightmare, of course... Intel core i7 6700 3,4 Ghz 16GB Ram MSI Geforce GTX 1070 X 8G Windows 10 Pro 64 bit LG Ultrawide Full HD Monitor 29" Brand new system, and I think for this game it's gonna bang! oh, it's gonna bang. which is appropriate for #PrettyGoodBanging

If the game will support SLI it will be more than alright If not, probably low-medium settings. I only have 2 GB VRAM per GPU though, and if I have understood things correctly then SLI does not combine the two VRAMs together to 4 GB. Then I will have a total of 2GB and I feel it might not be enough. Certainly not if SLI isn't supported SLI is complicated. In theory you should have more or less 4Gb of VRAM, however VRAM here is not the only important thing, it also matters things like the architecture and overall technology used by the graphic card. It also depends on the game, some games perform just fine with SLI while some others don't. As an example, for all intends and purposes one single card with 4Gb of VRAM will always be superior than 2x2Gb cards. SLI (or Crossfire for that matter) tends to have issues with textures too, pop-ups, glitches, even artifacts (rare ocassions). So if possible, it's always better to have just one card with the amount of VRAM needed. Again, that is just an example, I understand that you may not be able to buy a new graphics card.

WHEW! THAT'S A RELIEF!!!
I was worried a GTX 1080 would be the minimum, but it's not even the recommended. Or that Windows 10 would be mandatory.
A 660 2 gig is really old and low powered, though higher than the DAI min specs. Which makes me think the Low setting on MEA will be a smidge better than the Low settings on DAI. Bad news for laptop-only players, though.
I have a GTX 970, so yay, I don't have to upgrade just to play!
When I first bought my gaming PC years ago, I was told my CPU was gross overkill with an 8 core i7. Now it barely meets the minimum spec, lol.
I only have 8 gig RAM, though.

Rule of thumb is, for 50% of the price for your selected gaming laptop, you can always build a PC that is at least 50% more powerful (or even more in most cases). Plus, upgrading laptops is a harder hobby, as mostly you can just upgrade RAM or insert SSD. You can also upgrade the CPU what is relatively easy, but upgrading your mGPU is out of the picture most of the time.

I just really don't have the space for a desktop right now; I'd have to reconfigure my bedroom and it would be so cramped. And I do travel a lot, I split the week spending it at my house or my boyfriends, and I can't really cart around a desktop. And I really just like the versatility of being able to use my computer in every room of the house.

GTX 970 - still great card for 1920x1080, nothing really to change here. I only upgraded to GTX 1080 from my GTX 970, because I was worried it might actually require GTX 1070 or more on ultra (given how they went into partnership with NVidia this time). Now that I see the specs, I see I could have stayed on GTX 970. Notice also how GTX 1060 in recommended needs only 3 GB of VRAM, GTX 970 has 4 GB of VRAM in total and is only ~15 % slower, than GTX 1060. I also have "only" 8 GB of RAM and believe me, Battlefield 1 also has 16 GB in recommended like ME:A. Yet, I am still to see a moment where 8 GB of RAM causes me problems on gigantic maps with 64 players. I never see the game use more than 7 GB of RAM on highest possible settings. So where that 16 GB of recommended RAM would even be useful ? 8 GB of RAM is still plenty for gaming.

I'm actually thinking of buying a new card and skip the SLI since we don't know if MEA will have SLI support from day 1. Long-term I'm planning to build a new high performance PC from scratch for when Dragon Age 4 comes out in a couple of years or so, but for MEA I'm thinking of buying a Zotac GTX 1060 6GB which is available at a very good price right now. The "problem" then though could be a slight bottleneck with my CPU, but would still run fairly good I think

The "problem" then though could be a slight bottleneck with my CPU, but would still run fairly good I think 1060 should be good for gaming for quite a few years I should think; as I've said in previous comments the 1060 is supposed to be slightly superior to the 980 and at a much lower price, plus the new Pascal architecture. You said you had an AMD CPU, right? I don't really know a thing about AMD CPUs, so can't really tell you if it will in fact bottleneck, maybe it wont though. Someone with knowledge in AMD processors should be able to clarify that.

Any of you think that this will run Andromeda on High settings, 1080p? I've gotten quite a few people telling me that I should get an easy 60fps on High with my current rig, but I'd like some more confirmation from Bioware fans.

Ah, thanks for the responses you two. I was quite a bit worried, since I just built the PC. On GTA V, the only PC game I've actually bought [was recently a purely console gamer], I've noticed that my frames dropped to around 45-to-50ish with x4 MSAA and everything else maxed out. A friend of mine told me that this was my CPU bottlenecking my GPU. I'm assuming that Andromeda will be much more hefty, system-wise, than GTA V. Regardless, I have no plans on turning on MSAA on Andromeda, but I'm still a bit worried about the 'bottlenecking'. Not too experienced when it comes to computers. PermTroublenarcoticbiotic

PermTrouble narcoticbiotic Yeah a lot of people love throwing that word around, bottlenecking. It can be a concern in some games but I actually don't expect MEA to be as CPU intensive as GTA V, since it won't have to render a huge open world like that. MSAA is a setting that relies more on GPU. Turning down stuff like shadows/lighting, draw distance or particles could reduce the load on your CPU

PermTrouble narcoticbiotic If you ask me, there's no bottle neck. I think you're gonna play the game at mix high-ultra. You may want to upgrade ram with another 8 Gigs though, emphasis in the word may . Probably not necessary, but .... who knows. I personally gonna buy myself another 8 gigs (have 8 like you). Also, hooray for you being able to play GTA V with only 8 gigs, I was never able to do it. In fact I ranted in the past my regret of buying the blasted game in the first place because I could never actually play due to the game using absurd amounts of RAM. Never tried it again with the new graphics card tough, let's just say I kinda lost interest in the game at this point.
