I'm currently playing Halo CE for the first time. I hate Flood sections and Library is the second worst FPS level in my life. Are all the games in franchise like this?

Not really the levels become more condense until Halo: Infinite.

I'm currently playing Halo CE for the first time. I hate Flood sections and Library is the second worst FPS level in my life. Are all the games in franchise like this? There's a couple of bad missions i nthe MCCbut all in all lthe games a repretty good. TBH the flood ones aer always the worst ones but they're not too ba din general tit's moer the levels wher the flood try to overwhelm you when it gets bad. The Librar yis jus tone of those missions though a good tactic though is take out the carrier forms to effectively use them as grenades by firing a tthem at a distance and you may end up taking a few of it's fellow flood thatis nea rit as well. But I would say th eLibrar yfrom Halo 1 and Cortana from Halo 3 aer probably th ewors toffenders. But I think if you can weathre the storms tha taer those levels the rest of the games and stories are still pretty good.

From an outside perspective I have heard pretty much nothing but universal revulsion on the Library. But I pretty much have not heard that a single level gets the same level of distaste.

You need to really play the level to really understand really I have played i ts oI know even on Easy it's not straightforward. As yo uhave flood coming a tyo ufrom every turn and every hole in the wall tbh. It's definitely one of the worst levels in the series. I cretainl yconsider it on eof the wors t anyway I cretainly don' t enjoy it much..

The reason why the Library is disliked is because it's REALLY LONG. It drags on for what feels like an eternity filled with Flood which you have to hold off while the Monitor goes and repairs the doors more than once. On Heroic and Legendary difficulty, it can be a real pain due to how much damage the Flood can do and the fact that they have Rocket Launchers that can randomly kill you if you're not careful. The Library is one of the few levels that I recommend that you play with a friend to ease the monotony or share the burden as you power through the higher levels.

There are other reasons why I find the Bungie Halos better as well but this really hits the nail on the head for me why I think I ultimately stopped caring about the setting once 343 took over.
Now that I think about it, one of the main reasons why Halo Wars 2 managed to pique my interest in the series again was because it was less focused on Spartans; that and it had an actually competent antagonist.

So, the Halo series actually got me to get back into the games. I finally managed to play Halo 2 all the way through in the MCC. Man, those remade Blur cinematics are really gorgeous! I wish they had done those for Halo 1 and 3 as well. Overall, I really liked Halo 2. The plotline got much more intricate than the barebones Halo 1 plot and having the two different perspectives certainly was a cool way to do the narrative. I did look up where to find the terminals in each level and that also added a lot of flavor to the plot and the lore. I find it a bit questionable, that so much of the backstory is hidden away in these terminals and easily missable if the player doesn't know about them. But overall, Halo 2 was a very enjoyable experience, even all those years later. But the transition to Halo 3 (which I started and played the first 2 levels of) is seriously weird. I was utterly confused. When we leave Halo 2, Cortana is with the Gravemind, Sgt. Johnson, Miranda Keyes, the Arbiter and 343 Guilty Spark are on Delta Halo and MC is just arriving at Earth - credits roll. Then Halo 3 kicks in and we just see MC falling down somewhere, then he is - apparently immediately - found by Johnson, Keyes and the Arbiter (without 343 it seems) and they just get going without a word of explanation. At first I didn't even understand where I was. I kept looking up at the Skybox to see if I was supposed to be on a Halo somehow or on Earth now. I actually had to pause the game half way through the first level because this kept bugging me and I looked up the explanation on a wiki. There I found out, that there was a comic back in the day, that had a whole plot line happening to MC, describing what happened to him after his arrival at Earth, why he is falling at the beginning of the 3rd game and that at least several days had gone by and the others had time to somehow get from Delta Halo to Earth as well (which apparently is never really explained and just happened in some unknown fashion). I mean, what a stupid way to do this. They should at the very least have had some opening crawl text or something setting this up. Having the plot between games almost be continuous but not quite and than not even bother to catch people up is just stupid.

It was the transition from Halo 3 to 4 that did it for me. The Didect just showing up like we are supposed to know who he is, or why the Forerunners have such a hard-on for 'The Mantle" (whatever that was). This was made all the more insufferable when 343's response to fan questions about why the plot felt so lacking was to "go and read the books"; insinuating that one wasn't a true fan unless they devoured every single piece of media about the IP that was ever released. No. If your writing is so bad that you can't properly give an understandable motivation for your villain in the main source of media then it is not 'unreasonable' of the fanbase to call you out on that.

Well Halo: Infinite has canceled adding in split-screen, which 343 promised to add after release. A staple feature of the franchise, one that Bungie had no problem implementing 'out of the box' for 4 titles. 343, you're the reason why I stopped liking this series.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of activity here. The last post was almost two years ago. Fellow Halo fans: Is it weird that I just want to play the original Halo Trilogy, and no other game in the franchise? I love the Bungie Trilogy. I've played Reach. It was..good, but not great. I didn't enjoy it as much as other people have since its release. I'm not really interested in Halo 3: ODST. I've played Halo 4, but didn't like it that much & I dislike what I have seen for Halo 5 so far (on YouTube), both in writing and design. I don't know about Infinite (343, compared to Bungie, doesn't have as good of a track record with Halo). I'm not interested in the Halo Wars games, either. When I think of Halo, I think of CE, 2, and 3. I have only been a fan since 2017. That's obviously not as long as being a fan since 2001. That's just how I feel about Halo, but the last thing I need is to be called "close-minded," and have my position as a fan put into question.

Yeah, in terms of games, Halo doesn't have much to offer atm. I mean, Infinite, well.... I did just post my take on season 2 of the series in the tv and movie section. Unfortunately, I didn't think that one was really great either.
