The Deep Roads ExpeditionFor one of the largest missions, it's kinda funny how not complicated it is regarding companions. IF you bring a sibling to the Deep Roads you MUST bring Anders. If you are NOT bringing sibling to the Deep Roads, that gives you 2 empty slots to choose from. Yes, Two, not three. Varric is locked in for this quest. Since you’re already locked into a companion who is a bit of a sub par archer on a rather large mission… choose carefully. The only companions who can GAIN friendship on this mission is Anders, Aveline, and Varric. Not a bad combination, a tank, a healer, and the forced archer companion.. but if you’re already high up on the friendship bars for those two companions, you can let something else guide your decision. Prepare yourself. Head over to hightown to talk to Bartrand. And Good Luck. Keep an eye out for: 2 Deep Mushroom, 1 Silverite, 2 Raw Lyrium, 1 Orichalcum. Okay, that's all I got in me for the day. 7 hours of DA2 spoiler free writing with the points crunching and all I got done is Act 1. Thing is that, we only have to do this halfway or maybe all of act 2, which means we won't have to do it AT ALL for act 3. Hopefully this will help your PT go more smoothly, will ensure my husband doesn't cause sadness to me when he plays, and I may just use this myself for my current playthrough. I would not bring Merrill and Anders or Fenris to the Deep Roads if you refuse the Passengers deal, Merrill will give you negative points, while Anders and Fenris will give you positive and vice versa. Yes. I did list the only folks who would gain friendship. But the game is a bit unbalanced in that it gives you only one healing mage and limited money for potions. I'd bring Anders because I don't tend to make that deal and the sibling requirement. I love Carver but in general I spend as much time with Siblings as possible.

Okay, I did four quests last night which I will post here in separate posts as not to post a text wall.
The first quest was an old quest called "Enemy among us." It was about helping a woman find her missing brother Keran who was a Templar. Hawke, Bethany, Aveline, and Anders all went to the courtyard outside of the chantry, and spoke to the sister. She told Hawke that her brother had recently joined the Templars and had disappeared. She suspected that Meredith, Knight Commander of the Templars had something to do with it. She asked Hawke to investigate and Hawke agreed. Hawke went to the Gallows and spoke to a recruit who told her tat Keran was a friend, and that he and some other recruits had gone missing as well. He said that Mereidith had forced new recruits to undergo some strange initiation ritual. Where if someone wasn't dedicated enough they would be killed on the spot. One of the other recruits said that this wasn't true and that a fellow recruit named Wilmond had returned, and left the city to clear his head. So Hawke and Co. left the city and went to Wilmond's camp. Upon arriving they witness Knight Captain Cullen threatening Wilmond. Despite WIlmond's pleas Cullen strikes him and draws his sword. Then Hawke steps in and Cullen said to stay out of Templar business. Wilmod suddenly rises, declares angrily that this will be the last time that Cullen dares threaten him, and transforms into a shade accompanied by abominations. After Hawke helps Cullen fight the demon and its summons, the Knight-Captain reveals that he was attempting to get information from Wilmod, as the recruit had been demonstrating unusual behavior. Cullen claims that he would not have hurt Wilmod and was just trying to make him understand that he was serious. Cullen does not believe that Meredith had anything to do with it, and although it is true that templars must undergo an initiation ritual, it is nothing more than a silent vigil. Cullen then tells Hawke that Wilmod and Keran were last seen at the Blooming Rose, but bashfully admits that he was uncomfortable questioning the ladies of the establishment (So adorable). At the Blooming Rose, Hawke speaks to a Madam who will tell Hawke that Wilmod and Keran have been in the brothel. She states that Wilmod came many times to the Blooming Rose and had surprisingly enough time to study to become a templar. The recruit was seeing Idunna, "The Exotic Wonder From The East." When talking to Idunna, she invites Hawke to have some "real fun" on the bed with her. After Hawke tells her they are "past her games," Idunna holds Hawke captive through blood magic and asks for the name of the one who sold her out. Idunna then tells Hawke to draw a knife across his/her own throat. Hawke breaks the compulsion and kills her. She then searches the room and finds a note stating that the blood mages were holed up in a place called sanctuary in Darktown. Hawke and company proceed to Darktown and find sanctuary. Once inside they are faced with many demons of different types. Hawk and co. kill the demons along their way until they meet the leader, who has Keran in some sort of stasis. After defeating her, Hawke speaks to Keran, who swears that he is not possessed. Hawke asks Anders for his advice, and Anders uses a harmless shock spell on Keran, Keran is spooked but Anders says that if Keran were possessed he would have defended himself. Keran begs Hawke not to tell Cullen, and Hawke agrees no to say anything. At the Gallows. Hawke reports to Cullen and tells him about the use of blood magic, he expresses anger at the rebel mages' use of the forbidden school. Hawke then persuades Cullen to keep Keran in the Order.

Here's an even older quest I had gotten when I dropped off Merrill at her place in the Alienage. The quest is called "Wayward Son." In the alienage on the streets their is an elven mother who tells Hawke that her son a mage had gone missing. She hid him from the Circle out of fear of losing him. Until he started to have nightmares. She told Hawke to speak to the Templar Thrask or the boys human father Vicento. Hawke visits Vincento first and is told about his son, and about a man named Samson in Lowtown. In Lowtown Samson says that he couldn't help the boy since the boy was unable to pay for his passage. He tells Hawke that he sent him to see someone else at the Docks. At the docks while searching, the group is ambushed by a group pf slavers. After a swift defeat. Hawke enters the slavers den and walks into a mage turning into an abomination. After the battle Hawke searches the bodies. On the abomination she finds a note from the mage to her father Thrask! Hawke searches the body of the slavers leader and finds a bill of sale, directing her to another group in Darktown. In Dartown the group is me by Danzig and his slavers, after a hard fight Danzig and his slavers are defeated. While searching Danzig's body, Hawke finds a map with the location of the slaver's caverns at the Wounded Coast circled. Hawke and co. head there, once inside and after some tough battles along the way, Hawke finds the leader of the slavers, Varian Ilithis, holding a sword to boy's throat. Hawke replies saying "Let's work something out." Hawke and the slaver come to an agreement and he lets the boy go. once freed the boy tells Hawke his plight of how he wishes not to go to the circle, but to the Dalish. After sometime Hawke agrees and lets him go. The party heads back to the alienage and tell the mother the news. SHe thanks Hawke and gives her a reward. Hawke than goes to the Gallows and gives Thrask his daughters letter. He thanks Hawke.

Yeah, i know. But I feared he would kill the boy if I got hostile. So I reasoned with him. I'll kill the slaver if I meet him down the road again.

Did you find any of my companion suggestions useful?

Did you get your DLCs figured out? I'm having no issue on normal mode with most of these fights but I have the gear from the Special Deliveries box. Is this directed to me? If so no I don't have it sorted out. I will reinstall the game after this playthrough.

I've tried many different group but each time I keep getting beat when I enter the third room. I think the reason I'm having so much trouble is my tactics. I keep going after the hard ones first instead of dispatching the weaker ones first. I will try again, since I hear so many good things about Anders and Fenris. Since I like Anders already I'll most likely like Fenris too.

The arrows seem to do the same amount of damage whoever they come from, so it's much better to be hit by only two then ten. I ran into that problem with Meeran in Act 1 when e jumped my group.

Here's another one and the last for now. It is called "The Unbidden Rescue." While walking around Hightown. Hawke see's a poster stating that the Viscount's son Saemus was missing and that a reward was offered. Hawke heads towards the seneschal in Viscount's keep. Upon entering there is a heated argument between the senescal and another band of mercenaries called the "winters." After the leader storms off the seneschal tells Hawke about where the Saemus was last seen. The group then heads towards the Wounded Coast, and is greeted by a scene were the leader of the winters is arguing with Saemus. The argument is about the mercenaries payment and Saemus's murdered Qunari friend Ashaad. After sometime Hawke intervenes and things get hostile between the two groups. After wave after wave of a long and hard fight Hawke and her group defeat them all. Saemus thanks them and tells Hawke about how the mercenary leader killed his Qunari friend. After sometime Hawke escorts Saemus back to his father. Once reunited father and son get into a heated a debate. Seeing that this was a family affair, Hawke said her goodbyes. The Viscount thanked and rewarded her for bringing back his son.

I've never seen it myself but men can be close and not be banging.

Tidbit: There is fan theory that Saemus and Ashaad were romantic. Something implied by the Winter's LEad Mercernary? I've never seen it myself but men can be close and not be banging. Really? Well that could explain the outburst. But then again it's true as you say, men can be close like brothers instead of lovers.

It's a popular fan theory with many fanart... (I like it.)

Here are the one of the last two quests I did last night. I know I said 4 but there was in fact 5 quests.
Anywho, this quest was called "Black Powder." On my journey through the Dead Man's Pass Hawke and crew ran into a Dwarf, who told her about a mysterious substance the Qunari use simply called "Black Powder." He also told her there was a group of exiled Qunari called the Tal Vashoth in the Wounded Coast which don't follow the Qun. Hawke accepts much to the shagrin of Aveline, and travels to the Wounded coast and and along the path leading to the camp runs into a Qunari. He tells that the rest of the Tal Vashoth are nearby and have setup an ambush for weary travelers, which made him feel disgusted by them. He tells Hawke to kill them which she responds by saying she seeks a peaceful resolution. The Tal Vashoth lets her through and along the way the party is attacked by the ambushers. The party takes them out, and heads into the cave. There are more Tal Vashoth laying in wait. Hawke defeats them along with their leader and a mage called Sarebaas. Hawke takes either the recipe or the powder and heads to the Qunari compound located in the docks. The party meets up with the Dwarf and meets the Arishok leader of the Qunari. The Arishok says that the Dwarf is mistaken and that there was no deal for the powder. Angered and without pay the party leaves the compund.

This last one I hardly remember the details, I don't even remember it's name. Hawke got the quest from the book in Gamlan's house that people send her letters. I don't remember if it was the Wounded coast or Dead Mans pass. But outside a cave stood Thrask the templar. He told Hawke that inside the cavern were apostate mages. He wanted me to peacefully convince them to join the Circle, before another Templar who is by the book creates a bloodbath. Inside the party is attacked by undead, after they defeat them a mage tells them that their leader was crazy and would not leave peacefully. The mage agrees to go to the Circle. Deeper within the cavern which has the same layout as the Tal Vashoth cavern, Hawke and crew are attacked by the leader and his minions. The party kills them and they leave to go outside. Once outside Thrask, the mage and a Templar were outside. Both Hawke and Thrask pleaded there case and the Templar would hear none of it, and ordered his men to attack the so called traitors. After a long and hard fought fight Hawke and crew defeats them. Thrask gives his thanks and takes the mage back to Kirkwall.

You could have told the Arishok that you were promised pay. He then glares at Javaris and grumbles and growls and Javaris coughs up the money he promised you.

I told them to make a run for it and that I'd lie for them my first time playing. It actually hurt my feels on my 2nd PT to tell them to go back to the Circle. Why did your Hawke make that choice?

See I forgot most of the details. But I kinda remember letting them go because of Bethany and Anders. When it comes to apostates with good intentions I let them go. Because of Bethany, I think what if it was her. Man I like the sense of family in this game.

But I was tired when doing that quest. Also now I will demand payment. Unless the person is poor and suffering.
