"It became common during the war with the Templars," Sine said. "I like to call it the exile rather than the war. It was hard to get hold of lyrium and we needed our magic to defended ourselves. I bet most of the mages are now malificars."
Willis told Síne about his life. Síne ate greedily as she listened. It was not the first sad tale she had heard. There was so much suffering in the world that it was becoming harder for her to care. Then Willis asked her about his spirit powers. This caught Síne's attention.
"There are," she began, "I saw ... when we were at the Colosseum. The veil between this world and the dream world was thin. I saw shapes around you and Martin. It looked like flies around a candle. If I listen really hard I can hear them whispering." She blushed. "I think I saw one spirit that was a ... you know."

"That was a what?" Willis asked while he formed bonds with some sprits, Willis still wasn't overly familiar with them.
Willis continued eating "we have a long day ahead tomorrow in paying off debt." He yawned "come on Sine finish up and let's get to bed."
After eating Willis entered his room it was spacious yet comfortable. There was a fireplace in front of Willis and there were two big soft beds across from each other.
"Good night Sine." Willis said as he collapsed into his bed

Síne tossed and turned in her bed all through what was left of the early morning. Her nightmares showed her visions of all the people who had harmed her. The Chantry, Anders, Hawke, Fiona, the Dalish, Helen... There was so much rage in her. She wanted them all to pay for what they had done to her. There was power in her now. She knew she could inflict pain on others. If she wanted revenge, she was able to take it.
The images in her head were so vivid. They frightened her. She screamed and sprang from her bed. There was an itching under her skin. Her body was drenched in sweat. She bolted out the door, still dressed only in her smallclothes. It was not clear to her what she was running from or maybe towards.

Willis immediately woke up at the sound of Sine's screaming. "Sine what's wrong?!" He said in a desperate yet groggy tone. Sine ignored Willis, and headed out in her small clothes. Shocked and confused, Willis scrambled to grab his saber and Sine's tunic, brown trousers and rope and ran after her. As Willis followed Sine, he was thankful that the inn was empty. It was an hour before the inn opened for business again. Sine went outside, desperate to catch her Willis ran even faster catching the small elf when she was a few steps out of the entrance. "Sine snap out of it!" Willis said, shaking her bony shoulders. "What the hell is wrong with you?!" (OOC: Morrigan I've decided to delay the Elric fallout. I've got another thing planned. Let this be bond building moment between Willis and Sine.) |

Síne shook like a rag doll in Willis arms. Her lithe body went completely limb. When Willis let her go she looked confused. Her eyes fluttered around. She spent as much time looking past Willis as at him.
"I had a bad dream," she said finally. "I am cold." She took the clothes Willis brought and put them on.

Willis smiled "Fine, let's go Sine." Willis headed towards Martin's house. Despite the stench of piss and vomit, Willis felt very comfortable in the port surrounded his kind of people. He always held a dislike for Val Royneaux air of pretentiousness. As Willis approached the marketplace, he heard footsteps approaching him. "Hey Willis!" the voice shouted. Willis turned around and saw Dustin, Martin's bodyguard for his Tavern. Dustin is a young, tall man standing about 6'4 with a brown beard. He is a capable hand to hand combatant, but his swordsmanship leaves quite to be desired. "What's up Dustin?" Willis said while giving a high-five. Dustin wasn't staring at Willis but at Sine. "Who's this?" He asked "Your girlfriend?" "No." Willis said. "This is Sine, we met yesterday and she's looking for work who better than Martin right? Hey Sine say hello to Dustin." "Okay sure!" Dustin laughed. "Willis and his not-girlfriend!" "Are gonna tell me why the hell you're here?!" Willis snarled. "Martin said to meet him in the Tavern: The Stallion." Dustin explained. "Something paying off the debt for Elric." "That fuck? Still?" Willis shook his head. "Well this was supposed to happen last week, but Elric had other business to attend to. So he set Martin to do the deal which is today!" Dustin said. "But Martin couldn't reach Elric today." Willis raised an eyebrow "why?" Dustin shrugged "dunno, but you gotta get to the Stallion ASAP." After Dustin left, Willis stared at Sine "Wonder where Elric went?" (OOC: Morrigan , I suggest you lie to Willis about what happened. Can be good tension for later, also be sure to react to my post. Síne and Willis ran into yet another of Willis' human friends. A large brute with a thick beard and bruised hands. Síne did not feel like talking so she kept her distance while the men greeted each other. She did not like the way the man was ogling her. Why do all of Willis' friends assume I am his girlfriend? Síne wondered. Does Willis suffer from knife ear fever or something?Dustin and Willis started talking about Elric. This caught Síne's attention. She rubbed her temples. Last night was a little fuzzy. So much happened in so little time. Willis stared at Sine "Wonder where Elric went?" he said to her. Dustin was gone. Síne could not see him anywhere. Síne folded her arms. "He's probably snorting drugs or raping a knife ear," she said. "Why do you care?" she snapped. "Didn't we just go see him?" (OOC: smilesja If you point out where, I could go back and edit my posts. Willis said confused at the Elf's attitude. "Just wondering what the hell is going on. Usually Martin's debtors make it a tradition to stomp on him, Elric doesn't seem to be different." "No need to get pissed off at me." Willis finished "I don't know what the hell I did to you besides saving your life and giving you shelter. But please try to restrain your anger Sine." A few minutes later Willis reached the Stallion. It was one of Martin's small, but emaculent party place. The musicians were practicing on the right corner and waitresses were attending to the guests that arrived. Willis headed to the back to where Martin's office was. He knocked twice, but didn't receive a response to come in. Willis slowly opened the door and saw that Martin was sitting down on his desk, scribbling on a peace of parchment. In front of him was an elven boy. A messenger boy, Willis remembered working as one as a kid. "Heh, I remember my time as a messenger boy." Willis whispered to Sine, "It was fun and it paid well, the problem was the competition between boys. It was lucrative job and it had a first come first serve basis." As soon as he was done, Martin folded the letter and sealed it. He paid the elven boy and he ran off passing Willis and Sine as though they weren't there. "That was for Bregan." Martin said "You know him Willis." "The loudmouth, who's below average for a Dwarf?" Willis said. "Yeah I know him." "Right." Martin said. "Let's go you two we're late." |

Síne burst into a giggle. "You sure restraint is what you want?" she said and blew Willis a kiss.
They walked in silence to Martin's place. Síne grabbed an abandoned tankard of ale as they walked though the tavern. She needed something to calm her nerves. There was an elven messenger boy in Martin's office. Willis told her he used to deliver messages when he was younger.
"Oh?" Síne raised an eyebrow. "I hope you were older than this one."
Martin and Willis talked about a dwarf they both knew and suddenly it was time to leave again. Síne downed a swill of ale and scampered after them.

"Nah Sine, I was his age when I first started to do it." Willis told Sine as they walked to the main entrance. Willis thought about the kiss Sine blew at him, was she sending him a messeage? "Hey Sine." He asked "Wanna go gaze at the stars tonight? It's up in a hill a mile from Val Royneaux. I'd figured you are still shaken up from yesterday and this could be a relaxing trip for you. What do you say?" She was one unusual Elf, despite being very skinny she sure can be deadly at times. There was still something about Sine that she wasn't telling Willis. Demons haunting her perhaps. Not a surprise since she use blood magic. But Willis wanted Sine to be at ease after what happened. The tavern was picking up in activity, and just when Willis, Martin and Sine were about to open the door. A jolly fat man burst out of the door, scaring Willis and Martin. "WOOOO!! Let's party!" The man said. He was a dark skinned bald man wearing an expensive tunic and two young women around each of his beefy arms. "Merek!" Martin exclaimed "My main investor, you're here early." "Martin!" Merek yelled with a thick Antivan accent "It's never too early to party!" "Of course." Martin said sheepishly "This is my partner Willis and his friend Sine." "Pleased to meet you." Willis said. "So you guys are interested in the...... good stuff." Merek giggled. "Unfortunately, we are busy." Martin. "We are also late, so come on guys." Willis followed Martin but was stopped by Merek. "Hey if you want to talk about franchising this place, let me know! I have a lot of great things planned! WOOOO!" Merek danced his way to the Tavern, while Willis looked at Sine. "Guy's weird." They were interrupted when a drunken slob burst through the door. The pig was dragging two harlots with him. Síne reeled far away from him.
"Guy's weird," Willis said once he was finally gone.
"I am just glad we skipped breakfast," Síne mumbled.

Just then Martin tossed a medium sized Lyrium potion to Sine "take it" he said "after what happened yesterday the last thing I need is to have more of a reason for people to blackmail me because I have a blood mage with me! I should kick you out, but considering you are a friend of Willis and I need more help. You can stay for now but no blood magic! Stick to regular magic Sine!" "So what are we doing Martin?" Willis asked "We're supposed to complete a deal for Elric for our tavern" Martin said "we're supposed to get more liscenes apparatently." Willis frowned "really sounds like bullshit to me." "Well it is." Martin mumbled well the meeting is located in an abandoned ware house in the docks." "An abandoned warehouse?" "Sine's right Martin." Willis said "She did save your life but more importantly my life. I'd hate to think what will happen to you If I died from those thugs."
"Bah! you'd live!" Martin said exasperatedly "Okay maybe that was a little cold, but I have a feeling I'm already in more trouble as it is with a blood mage! I'm sorry Sine, but please stick to regular magic from now on."
"Your lack of sincerity really sold that apology." Willis said rolling his eyes "I'd think Sine deserves more respect from you."
"She's going to have to prove to me!" Martin said "Regular magic or no magic at all!"
Willis sighed. "Do you still have the replacement knife I gave you last night Sine? Martin is a stubborn ass, be sure to have it close to you though."
As they were nearing the docks Martin spoke "I also made a deal with this guy in the warehouse so Willis, Sine be prepared for anything."
Willis nodded "All right."
"So Elric has set us up to make a deal, you guys so-"
"I know." Willis growled "He want us to be gangsters towards his competitors."
"I owe him money." Martin said "And he's friends with one of the most powerful lords in Orlais. So we'll at least pretend that we're engaged in this."
"Yeah I guess." Willis said "What about you Sine?"
The trio approached the abandoned warehouse, they were greeted by a Qunari mercenary who led them upstairs. Inside the warehouse Willis saw many mercenaries of every race. All armed to the teeth. Who was this guy they were dealing with? After going 4 flights of stairs, the Qunari guided Willis, Sine and Martin to a area full of crates "The rooftop." he mumbled as he exited.
A Ferelden wearing a green shirt and blue pants approached them. He had brown, cropped hair and is wearing glasses. "Welcome you must be the famous Martin Goodman." He said in a thick Ferelden accent.
Martin nodded his head. "More like infamous now and days and this is my business partner Willis and that over there is friend Sine."
"Hey." Willis said dully.
Rubbing his hands the man looked at Willis, Sine and Martin with excitement. "Elric has told me to expect a lot from this meeting!"
"Well Elric has reputation for overpromising and under delivering." Martin sighed.
The man began pacing "As you can see, we are behind schedule with our project we need to.... clear things up with the planning department and to put an end to our licensing troubles."
Willis laughed "Yeah we're not negotiators, we run Taverns and party places. We're struggling to keep the licenses on our places sorry but we don't do licenses."
The man's expression turned serious. "This isn't a request Willis, it's an order. So why don't you and your knife ear friend do as I say? Elric tells me that you are not in a position to protest."
"Well Elric is also full of shit." Willis countered. "I'm sorry, but we can't help you. What you are asking is beyond our expertise." Willis stared at Martin and Sine "Let's go Martin, Sine."
"Sorry for wasting your time ser." Martin said in a regretful tone.
"You're mot going anywhere until we have an arrangement." The man barked his face blood red and his hand on the hilt of his sliverite longsword.
Willis who was walking away, immediately turned around. "We can't do the job." he said while walking up to the man. "Got a problem with that? Take it with Elric?"
It was then the man unsheathed his sword. "You are not going anywhere insolent fuck!" The man shouted his sword directed towards Willis. Martin's eyes widen with fear but Willis remained calm sizing up the man and looking for an opportunity to strike.
"We are serious people." The man said through clenched teeth.
"Really?" Willis chuckled.
Before the man could say anything, Willis rushed in and punched him square in the jaw, knocking him out. "What have you done?!" Martin shouted "I was supposed to the man with the anger issues!"
"What?!" Willis shouted. "He was pointing a sword at me! What the fuck was I supposed to do?! Sine help me on this!!!"
After wards a noise was heard downstairs. Mercenaries were going upstairs aware of what happened.
"Shit!" Martin squealed "they're coming!"

The man Willis was talking to was making threats on behalf of Elric. Síne started laughing. "Oh, how the mighty have fallen," she mumbled.
Before Síne knew what had happened, Willis punched Martin's contact. The man landed on his back. Síne heard the sound of men coming up the stairs. She looked down. The Quanari from before was leading the charge.
"Shit!" Martin squealed "they're coming!"
Síne knocked her fist into the floor. A shockwave shook the entire building and the four flights of stairs crumbled to the ground. Splintered wood flew everywhere. The mercenaries screamed as they fell. Síne gazed down the hole she had made. The Quanari was clinging on for his life. Síne took out her knife and tried to swing it at the horned man's fingers. He was just out of her reach.
"There is no way down and you are not coming up," Síne said to the Quanari. "You may as well let go."

Willis drew his sword but Sine was already a step ahead of him when she summoned a mini earthquake knocking the mercs off the railing. Except one Qunari. "There is no way down and you are not coming up," Síne said to the Quanari. "You may as well let go." The Qunari was about to reach for Sine's hair. Apparently if he was going down he was going to take Sine with him, but Willis stomped on the Qunari's hand and he fell a few feet below. "Gotta pay attention there sweetheart!" Willis smiled "I'd hate to lose my partner!" Willis and Martin moved downstairs, and more mercenaries gathered. "Oh shit! Shit! More mercs take them out Willis and Sine!" Martin squeaked hiding behind a crate Willis charged ahead splitting a Dwarf's head open and decapitating a human in a few swings. There were more, but Willis hoped Sine took them. "Rooms clear!" Willis shouted going downstairs. "How many of these assholes are there Sine?!" Willis questioned. Just they reached the third floor, bolt whizzed past Willis. "Damn!" He shouted as he saw an Elven merc with a cross bow pointing directly at him with 3 more mercs moving up towards them. "This keeps getting better and better!" Martin moaned still out of sight. "Sine take that archer out!" Willis said as he tried to engage the soldiers. Willis dodged and parried the mercs strikes striking one merc in the neck, ending his life and at the same time Willis grabbed another merc by the scruff of the neck and threw off the railing, the man screamed as he fell and landed neck first on to the pile of corpses that fell by Sine's spell. "We do make a great team sweetheart!" Willis smiled at Sine while slicing the merc in the waist as he fell down on to the floor bleeding to death. "Move up Martin!" He then shouted as they went to the second floor. The second floor was clear, "They may be gathering on the ground floor Sine. Stay alert!" He whispered to Sine. Just as the trio reached the ground floor they were greeted by more mercenaries. "All right fuck this!" Willis growled "Sine protect Martin." Willis began to glow, going into Spirit Warrior form. Much to the surprise to the mercenaries, Willis smirked and attacked and in few seconds all of the mercs were dead. "We're clear." Willis said slipping back into human form. "Good job Sine!" Willis collapsed in exhaustion. Odd he wasn't in spirit form for that long. "Willis, I think you might be overusing your abilities lately." Martin said. "No, I haven't." Willis replied getting up "I guess some spirits take more energy to control than others." As they exited Martin was shaking "I can't believe we made it out of there, my heart was racing!" "You're welcome." Willis said sarcastically. "Yeah.... I need to lay down. Willis, Sine. Could you visit Bregan, he needs your help and I owe him money and before I forget here's your pay." Martin handed Willis and Sine a coin purse for each of them. "Now if you excuse me, I need to go to my house and lie down." Martin said as he walked slowly away. Looking at his coin purse, Willis turned to Sine. "Oh man, Let's go Sine. Bregan hates to wait and I don't want him to be more annoying than he usually is." Willis and Martin began climbing down what remained of the splintered stairs. Síne took hold of the rafters and climbed along the roof of the floor below them. The rustling of metal and the cries of injured mercenaries filled her ears. Willis killed a dwarf and a human. Síne let herself drop down upon a man below her, knocking him on his stomach, allowing Willis to finish him off.
"Argh! My ankle," Síne complained.
"Rooms clear!" Willis shouted as he began making his way down the next set of stairs. These were not quite as damaged as the last. "How many of these assholes are there, Sine?!" he asked.
"Enough," Síne mumbled as she jumped after him on one foot.
"Sine, take that archer out!" Willis said as Síne reached the third floor.
Síne lifted her arms. The archer was thrown out an open window.
Just as the trio reached the ground floor, they were greeted by more mercenaries. "All right fuck this!" Willis growled "Sine, protect Martin."
Three mercenaries charged at Martin. All of them spontaneously combusted before they reached him. Síne took a deep drink from her lyrium potion.
"Good job, Sine!" Willis said before collapsing from exhaustion.
Síne squatted down before Willis and laid her hands on him, channelling restorative magics into his tired body.
After the battle, Martin left. Willis and Síne went to go see the dwarf Bregan.

As the two walked through the Val Royneaux marketplace Willis stared at Sine "Thanks for restoring my health Sine." He said "I don't what the hell happened, my best guess is that the spirit in question overzealous in seeing the world and sapped me of my energies. I won't bore with the details but basically I make a deal with a spirit that they get to see our world in exchange for his power. Some spirits...... go overboard." Willis then noticed Sine limping. "Oh shit Sine!" Willis said in shock "You've twisted your ankle! You obviously need treatment come on let me lift you up so you won't continue to put pressure on it." Willis lifted Sine into bridal carry position, some of the crowd noticed this and snickered at the fact that a human is carrying an elf. Willis didn't care. "I'm taking you to the nearest water fountain dead ahead." Willis whispered to Sine's ear. "I need you to create some ice, don't worry I'll make sure no one sees you." The two arrived at the water fountain and Willis waited for Sine to use her magic, while staying in front of her to make sure no one witnessed the Elf performing magic. After the ice created Willis ordered Sine to sit down on the ledge of the water fountain. "Put your foot up and try not to move it Sine." Willis advised while he ripped a part of his red vest and split it in two pieces to act as an ice pack to wrap around Sine's swollen ankle and to wrap it around her ankle as soon the ice was done. "I wish I had a towel, but this will have to do." Willis smiled. "I can sew my vest back." Willis frowned. "Not the best technique for treating an ankle, but it'll have to do hold still Sine." Willis wrapped the ice along with part of his vest around Sine's foot. "We'll wait for about 10-20 minutes Bregan can wait." Willis smiled "That was a very badass thing you did Sine, jumping on a guy as he was about to strike me down. You saved me again!" Willis observed the people walking around the marketplace, buying bread or checking out clothing. "Yup, I pretty much hate paying off Martin's debt. Like I said as soon as this is over, I'm just going to explore Thedas. You said yesterday you were willing to come. Got anywhere interesting you want to go?" ( Morrigan be sure to react to Willis' questions and actions while also creating new actions or questions or dialogue of your own!) |

Willis smiled "That was a very badass thing you did Sine, jumping on a guy as he was about to strike me down. You saved me again!" "I could not hold on any longer," Síne mumbled. "Think of it as a controlled fall." Willis observed the people walking around the marketplace, buying bread or checking out clothing. "Yup, I pretty much hate paying off Martin's debt. Like I said as soon as this is over, I'm just going to explore Thedas. You said yesterday you were willing to come. Got anywhere interesting you want to go?" "I don't go places, Willis," Síne said with a sigh. "I run from them." She smiled up at Willis. "I am with you as long as you want me. Take me anywhere." Síne put her hand on her ankle. The swelling died down immediately. "You can keep carrying me, if you want," she said with a wink. "Your legs are longer than mine. Unfair is what it is." Come on Bregan is probably pissed off at us" Still thinking about Sine's response to take her anywhere Willis spoke up "Well sweetheart, I hear that Nevarra is lovely this time of year. Maybe we'll get lucky and we can find and tame a dragon. I really like you Sine, I don't have many friends considering the nature of my job as a Mercenary. It's nice to have someone around and I promise you Sine, that as long as you stick with me. I'll protect from any harm that befalls you I mean that Sine. You're safe with me." |
