If you like sci-fi and somehow haven't watched Farscape in its entirety yet, I'm afraid I cannot fully respect you as a human being until you do.

I'm a Star Trek:TNG kiddo, so TNG is always at the top of that list, even though many episodes may be not as good as I imagine them to be. Other than that: Firefly(!) > DS9 >= Stargate Atlantis >= B5 > SG1. ENT seasons 3 and 4 were actually quite good. I tried to get into (new) BSG and Dr. Who, but just can't. Old BSG was fine (until they reached earth), nuBSG is way too much drama and pessimism for my taste. "'Who" is strange. What I liked even though it was objectively bad was 'Viper'. My favourite SciFI Movie will always be Star Trek 6: TUC. That film has everything I loved about star trek in general. About the DS9 discussion: Season 7 is the weird one, but it is also the one where they end the war. The entire second half is really fast paced and action packed. The weirdness was always part of DS9 (basically all episodes featuring bajoran religion, politics or Vedek/Kai Winn), but its really the later half or so of season 6 and s7, where they go totally nuts with it. What I'm still waiting for is a halfway decent film adaptation of "Perry Rhodan". Never saw Firefly (can't bring myself to watch a series that gets axed like that) Give it a try! While it ends way to soon, its more episodic form doesn't suffer (much) from that. And the "Serenity" Movie gives it a bit more closure. (That film is one of my favourites, even though it is campy AF) Edit: If you like sci-fi and somehow haven't watched Farscape in its entirety yet, I'm afraid I cannot fully respect you as a human being until you do. Does this avatar look human to you? Farscape was never aired around here! (Well, atleast not at a time I would consider it watching, anyway), so I never got to see any of it. Another Childhood series that I forgot: Does anyone remember SeaQuest?

I don't understand how you like Pacific Rim. It was one of the only big budget sci-fi movies that I have ever said, "Yeah that's enough" and ditched part way through. I can stand cheesy campy sci fi but Pacific Rim was just bad.

Most of mine have already been mentioned. TV Series: Babylon 5 (one of my favorites series, any genre, of all time) X-Files Star Trek (TOS, TNG, DS9 until I stopped watching; Voyager was ok but I lost interest; never liked Enterprise) Twilight Zone and Outer Limits, which never failed to creep me out Firefly
Dr. Who (latest incarnation, never watched the originals)
For animated series: Reboot (though I'm not sure if it is technically sci-fi or not)
For movies, I pretty much stick with Star Wars (IV-VI favorite, I-III were ok with III the best; still haven't seen VII yet - it's in my pile to watch)

Oh while we are on the subject of giant anthropomorphic robot movies...
Haha... the main character was also in Enterprise (and various other things).

All these Babylon 5 mentions have made an old lady's day! It is hands down my all-time favorite television series. The writing is fabulous and the story epic. The CGI effects are a bit iffy, but they are also the folks who pioneered the use of CGI for television. The series creator and writer of the majority of the episodes, J. Michael Straczynski has a real gift for dialog - not only in his screen writing, but also with his fan base. Back in the early 90's when the show was on, he was on bulletin boards daily answering questions from fans of the show. Really good stuff, much of it archived at www.midwinter.com/lurk/If you like sci-fi and haven't watched it, it's worth adding to your viewing list. Aside from being a HUGE B5 fan, I pretty much like all sci-fi there is, with one notable exception: I'm one of only 3 people I know who enjoy sci-fi but hated the Battlestar Galactica reboot. Yup, I hated it. Watched the whole thing out of a misguided feeling of nostalgia for the original show and the genre in general and it just never did a thing for me.

Another Childhood series that I forgot: Does anyone remember SeaQuest? Nice, Star Trek 6 is probably my favourite too - but only as far as Star Trek films go. Overall I can't think of anything that would quite reach the level of Blade Runner. I may have to give Firefly a chance. I do love Adam Baldwin, and I must admit to having a crush on Jewel Staite (just a very tiny one, I assure you). You should totally watch Farscape. That show does some absolutely crazy stuff that no other show would ever dare to try - and it actually manages to pull it off (almost) every time. However, you need to be a little patient with it. I didn't like it at all after the first episode, but when I got to know the characters better, that soon changed. After the first season I was already in love with the show, and it only got better and better from there.

Yes, I totally loved the Borg from the moment they were first encountered in TNG. The way they just ignored humans (at first) because of their absolute superiority, together with their lack of concern for individual drones - or maybe their lack of individuality itself - made them feel truly menacing to me. And I hated how they became a regular enemy in VOY, which really brought them down and ruined them as a truly scary, threatening enemy. The Borg were initially a great addition to Star Trek. They gave the sense that the galaxy was so much bigger and scarier than what we had seen so far. Appearances subsequent to The Best of Both Worlds had to strip away the Borg's power and mystery to prevent them from becoming overwhelming, and Voyager reduced them to an absurdity. I don't think they should ever have become a major, recurring element. Another Childhood series that I forgot: Does anyone remember SeaQuest? I recall liking the first season....

But to think that Ferengi were originally meant to be the bad guys of the entire series...

But to think that Ferengi were originally meant to be the bad guys of the entire series... I'm quite happy with them as they were portrayed in DS9, and overjoyed that they were changed from their earlier appearances.

Another Childhood series that I forgot: Does anyone remember SeaQuest? Totally forgot about that one, was pretty good if I remember right. It's not bad. Reminds me of Man from Atlantis (an old fav). Both series have about two seasons under their belt, I think. On that note, I also watched this piece of cheese.

Sorry Firefly, but Dark Matter just owned your ass. While Defiance will always hold a special place in my heart, Dark Matter is fucking awesome. I love the intrigue it brings to the table where things aren't spoonfed to you and the whole cast is likeable. I've binged about half of season 1 and eagerly await seasons 2 & 3.

To start it off...what I am currently watching.... Dark Matter. I liked the idea of 6 random people waking up on a ship in the middle of space with no memories of who they are. The Expanse.....man, oh man... this I think, is a must for Mass Effect fans.... the story will sound kinda familiar....set 200 years from now...humans have now colonized the milky way and have expanded out as far as pluto, to mine our solar system for resources...I highly recommend it. I have also recently begun a re-watching of Battlestar Galactica...which I honestly believe, to be perhaps, the best space drama series that has ever been created. >Colonized the Milky Way. >Only got as far as Pluto. Wut?

My favorite SciFi Shows are nothing new. Farscape, Firefly, Star Trek (DS9 is my go-to, but I've seen everything since TNG), Star Wars, Dr. Who when its set in the future, I can't think of any more off the top of my head.
Nothing fancy on this end.
Now books on the other hand, that might take up a whole page, if I listed each book I've read. I'd have to give them an individual line each, but I think I might be able to take up a whole page. Of course, remembering them all would be the problem.
Is dark matter any good? *psst (our galaxy is called the milky way, our solar system is called sol).

1. Doctor Who (never watched old Doctor Who seasons; only watched new ones, and amongst the New docs I like David Tennat the most)
2. Star Trek Next Gen.
3. Stargate: Atlantis (I hated the original so, so much, and this show is the most amazing thing I've watched besides for the two above me)
4. Marvels Agent Carver (I loved and adored Carter a lot, in fact, I peferred it over Marvels agents of Shield)
5. The Stranger Things
6. The Walking Dead (techinally, it's a Sci Fi show. It's about the walking dead after all...)
7. Once Upon A Time (seasons 1 to 3; it grew too dumb to watch from that point fourth)
8. Firefly (not the best show in the world, but entertaining while it lasted)
9. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
10. Terra Nova
Yeah, I'm pretty unoriginal in terms of TV shows...
Sci Fi movies
1. Marvels Super Hero Origin movies (cause Couslin is so utterly baft in the first movie)
2. The Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit (why not? Despite me getting sick of it...)
3. Star Trek: Into the Darkness
4. Star Wars: any of them without the forced relations between Hanakin and Padme
5. The Hunger Games

Honestly, I didn't watch many scifi movies or shows. My mom was a Stargate fan so I grew up watching it. I think I've watched all the seasons and spinoffs. It was good. Wikipedia tells me Primeval is scifi. I loved the first seasons. Wikipedia also tells me Warehouse 13 is scifi. I loved it. Torchwood was kinda neat, never finished it though. I've watched some episodes of Doctor Who (9th Doctor) but I haven't got the time to continue. I wanted to watch Farscape for Claudia Black but only found it with french dub so... I tried to watch Firefly but didn't even finish the first episode, the protagonist was too cocky for me Startrek and BSG look really old so I never gave them a try. I've watch all Star Wars movies except the latest one.

Firefly is my favorite TV series. Otherwise, I typically stick to games and movies for my fix. I'm a fan of sci-fi horror, stuff like Dead Space and Event Horizon. If anyone here is a fan of creative and thoughtful sci-fi, I recommend playing SOMA. It's my personal GOTY for 2015, it's so fucking good, everything from the plot to the visuals to the sound is just amazing, well worth the $30. My one complaint with it is that it doesn't have much replay value, but the first time you go through you will be enamored by the world being presented and the story being told.

Soem of my favourite sci-fi movies, off the top of my head: Gattaca, The Fifth Element, Terminator, Ex Machina, Dark City, Sunshine, Children of Men, Another Earth, Aliens, Solaris...many more I'm sure, but that's all that's coming to me right now.
There are fewer sci-fi TV series that have really managed to grab and hold me. I have The Expanse on my DVR waiting to watch but haven't got around to it yet. I liked the BSG reboot well enough but never finished the whole thing... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I am bad at things.
