The last sci-fi movies that I really enjoyed were the Riddick Trilogy. Only unlike what I hear, I enjoyed them more from the 2 and then third. The third is the best. But I really miss the budget of the second. That middle of the 2nd movie crematoria chase was epic. Both 2nd and 3rd had mercenary and villain actors performances I enjoyed a lot. I really wish this series continues. Reminded me of old comic books and action films of the 80s. Why I prefer the sequels (the first one feels to grounded to reality. While the sequels make it feel like a whole new universe high fantasy sci-fi similar to Star Wars). Great music in the 2nd one too comes to mind right now (ie. the music for the ice planet chase and the music for that Crematoria chase. Easy to remember it because the music fits the scene so well).

No one has mentioned Galaxy Quest? Son, I am disappoint. I was going to. Next to Futurama and the last 15 minutes of the Road Warrior.

So many. Sooooooooo many. My top twenty for TV and film. (I am more of a TV person, to be honest.) No fantasy, because that's speculative fiction but it's not science fiction. And no superheroes, because that's a whole other list. TelevisionBabylon 5 - Probably my favourite TV show of all time. Honourable mention for Crusade, taken from us too soon. Blake's 7 Doctor Who - Plus Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures. My favourite TV/audio drama/book/comic/Sky Ray Ice Lolly wrapper big ball of timey-wimey stuff ever. Farscape Firefly Futurama Humans iZombie - Does this count? There's a 'scientific' explanation for the zombies! In any case, it's awesome. Neon Genesis Evangelion Orphan Black Red Dwarf Sense8 - My favourite currently running show. Roll on Christmas special! Serial Experiments Lain Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - The best of the Treks, IMHO, although I have great affection for TNG as well. Steven Universe Stranger Things - Soon I am just going to give Netflix my soul and get it over with. Transformers - Transformers: Animated is my favourite, but Beast Wars and Prime are great, too, and I'll always have a lingering affection for Gen One. Trigun Voltron: Legendary Defender - Like Transformers: Animated and Prime it takes the premise of a cheesy eighties cartoon and adds a well-developed plot and actual character development while keeping all the good stuff . The X-Files - It was a complete mess by the end, but I rewatch the better Monster Of The Week episodes more often than almos any other show. (I don't like revisiting the mytharc because it never went anywhere.) Movies2001: A Space Odyssey Back to the Future - Also the second one. I don't hate the third, but it isn't as good as the first two. Blade Runner - One of my favourite films of all time, in any genre. Dredd Dr. Strangelove Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - Has one of the best movie endings ever. The Fifth Element Galaxy Quest - Let's be honest, this is the best Trek film ever made. "By Grabthar's Hammer, what a savings." Gattaca Ghost in the Shell - Also its sequel. The anime series is good, too, but I haven't seen all of it. The Hunger Games - Not so much the sequels, but that's more of a problem with those stories being more difficult to adapt to film than with the people who made them. Inception Jupiter Ascending - Fight me. Mad Max: Fury Road - The greatest extended car chase ever filmed. The Martian - When Ridley Scott is good, he's good. The Matrix Pacific Rim Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan - Well, it's no Galaxy Quest, but it's certainly a great film. Star Wars - Empire Strikes Back is still my favourite, but The Force Awakens is pretty damn good. V for Vendetta Akira might also belong on there, but I haven't seen it since I was a teenager. I should really rectify that.

There is another Riddick on the way. Vin Diesel is just busy juggling 3 projects right now but he and the director whose name has escaped me all but confirmed it. I like all 3 but my favorite would probably have to be the third. Sanatana is so great! And yeah, Stranger Things is on my list for favorites. It felt like such a throwback to movies and shows of the 80's and early 90's. Seeing all the references made me smile and the kids on it aren't bad.

Like I've said, I love the actor choices in the 2nd and 3rd movies. Also glad to see someone else enjoy the 3rd as their fave too. The first time I seen the 2nd and 3rd movies I was also blazed up, which greatly added to the immersion. But then again, this is the best way to watch all sci-fi movies (and it don't have to mean you're a pothead either. I'm not).
