But I'd bet my pet Pyjak's life I'm right and there is no bug, as there is no on foot random banter I've been walking and driving around on Eos in complete silence for 10 hours. I don't know about your situation but there is absolutely a banter bug in my game. My PC and her squad mates only speak when they react to the quests and the environment ("Speed bump!" ) . Yup, I'd buy that. I'm 99% certain there is a banter bug in the Nomad for quite a few players. There may be a bug on some on-foot banter scripts not triggering for some players perhaps. I just don't think there's any random on-foot banter, and thus no on-foot banter bug. Or if there is 100% of players have this bug, as I can't see ANY evidence to the contrary, As for your nomad bug have you tried just driving backwards and forwards over a none POI piece of land for 10 minutes? I'm practically guaranteed banter in that scenario and time-frame, if that doesn't trigger for you, u sadly may have Nomad banter bug.

Just a thought ... have you mixed up who you take? If you take the same two squad mates with you constantly, they WILL eventually run out of stuff to say. I romanced Peebee, so she is with me all the time. But I mix up the other squad mates randomly and she is always engaging with them. As an experiment, I did keep Peebee and Cora together for an extensive amount of time and they did eventually pipe down quite a bit. They were chatty at first but eventually ran out of stuff to say, and that was in a single day (real life day) of gaming. So far I think I have used up Cora, Vetra, and Jaal as far as Peebee goes. She is now pretty quiet with them. She is currently really chatty with Liam, though they REALLY dislike each other, and I believe she has some juice left with Drak as well. If you do not change up your crew, then yeah things will go quiet. If I weren't fully completed with the game already, I worry that I'd have to start leaving Peebee behind and start using Cora as my regular female sidekick just to keep the banter from completely dying off.

So far I've only been to Eos and I have never had any party banter there. Ever. So, no, I couldn't have run out it. I've cycled through different squad mates. Nothing. I tried driving around for long periods of time. Again, nothing. I tried Idling for 30 minutes in one place. I tried clearing the stupid exclamation marks from the codex (some people claim that helps) and I've been avoiding fast travel. So far none of those things have helped. The sad part is, I actually like the game so far. At this point I don't care about the facial animations, scary eyes, garish makeup, or any other aesthetic things that people are complaining about. I just want to continue playing the game with the party banter. That's it. Even if it's one single sentence per hour. I'll wait until the next patch. If it doesn't fix the issue, I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling the game. If that doesn't work, I guess, I can always borrow it from my sister after she finishes her first playthrough ( she's playing it banter bug-free on her PS4). In retrospect, I definitely should have used EA Early Access. I could have saved myself 60 bucks. I'm definitely not making the mistake of pre-ordering DA4.

The scripted conversations about the environment or planet specific stuff is, I believe, not bugged. This stuff will play when you approach certain areas, whether you are on foot or in the Nomad does not matter.
The bug affects conversations between your two squad mates. For example, when I first landed on Eos, I brought Cora and Vetra. After I got the Nomad, I spent quite a bit of time exploring the area before activating all the monoliths. During that time, Cora and Vetra talked about how/why they joined the Andromeda initiative, about their unique abilities and talents, about any family they had in the Milky Way, that kind of stuff. These conversations seem to occur only while in the Nomad - which makes sense, because this banter is supposed to play as you are traveling and not while you're fighting stuff.
Then I went on to finish the story quest on Eos, went on to the next planet, recruited my final squad mate, scanned all the planets and did a bunch of sidequests on the Nexus. After that, I wanted to continue exploring planets. I switched out Vetra and brought Jaal instead, along with Cora. However, the two never talk to each other. They react to landmarks and the like with one liners, but never any conversations of the kind I described above.
I also tried switching the squad. I brought Peebee and Drack, two completely new people. Silence. Went back to Cora and Vetra. Nothing. Liam with anyone? Nope.
The banter bug is, unfortunately, very real. I hope Bioware can find and implement a fix soon, I haven't played any single player for days.

Eos, Voeld, Elaaden, Kadara all have banter dialogue. Harvael has nothing except environment related dialogue. Usually Jaal telling the other party members to not eat or touch anything.
What are the triggers for dialogue? D:
I'm post main story now, no party banter. At all. Is this a bug? Have I fucked up?

No party banter at all, really sucks. When you tell me about conversations in Eos, while in Nomad, between Vetra and Cora, it sounds as sci-fi to me. I only hear them say some few scripted lines when advancing story etc. Not playing single player until it's fixed, tried all workarounds.
I couldn't care less about eyes or animations!!!

Yesterday I didn't manage to get even one party banter. And we don't know when they release the patch or if it's going to work at all. Mike Gamble said it's releted to Tempest and going back on the ship and on then on planet should help but it's not helping.

I went through Eos, Havarl and Voeld so far, and has plenty of character chatter. I mostly used Jaal and rotated PB, Cora and Liam. On Liam's loyalty mission I took Vetra along and there were comments from her as well.

I was able, after 20 hours of no banter to make it sorta work on Eos. I stood in Prodromos and switched subtitles 'on' from what they had been, 'off'.
Walked around in a circle for 20 seconds, then switched back the subtitles to 'off'. Got in Nomad with Cora and Vetra and got a few banters once out of town. Also got Vetra and Drack to talk later. However, when I turned off the game and re started later, the bug seems to be back, and not getting anything. So this is partially helpful, but now trying to replicate the success for Peebee and Jaal, not working.
Maybe instead of dicking around trying to make randomly generated worlds for a year, they could have tested the game more thoroughly. A year of testing, so we don't have to would have been great.
The game is fun, but needlessly harmed by sh-t like this.

Yesterday I managed to get a couple of banterd on Eos. All journal notifications were cleared, subtitle was on.
I think someone here mentioned that it could be triggered by specific spots in the map (I'm not talking about the comments about the environment/buildings) and I'm starting to think there's some truth to it. Or maybe there's a bug that makes the banter only triggers at those spots.
I was driving from the first Remnant structure, near a stone arch when a banter comes up. Then I reloaded an earlier save, drove to the same spot and hear a different banter. Hmm.

My brother is further along in the game, at Voeld and says the turning on and off of subtitles got the Nomad banter to work. Still nothing on foot.
Based on the issues in DAI with this, I can think of a couple problems. In DAI, when the Inq was riding the horse, the others would vanish and so, no banter, obviously. I wonder if in trying to make banter on horseback -er, Nomad and on foot this borked it somehow? Now there are two variables in play instead of just one. Hopefully this can be patched soon. I love this stuff in Bioware games and it adds so much dimension to a character driven game like this.
I would honestly rather have less NPCs to talk to, and have this working instead.

As we keep seeing, everybody's experience is different, lots of workarounds that work for some, work sometimes, etc. We won't fix this as we couldn't with inquisition's (only cheat engine could, and not at all, just allowed to reset timers).
I think it can only be solved by devs, and maybe with a good amount of time / coding / investigation.
We users do sometimes troubleshoot this stuff for ourselves or come with fixes, but really, in Inquisition was the same, people performing weird rituals to get it back, without any reliable 100% working fix. Only bioware fixed it, and only for some.
We should keep sharing our experiences etc, but I think the focus should be on giving attention to this, pressing the devs (on twitter, fb, ea answers...not many places since they killed bsn) I know they acknowledged this problem a week ago, but fix is not coming, problem is not included in the official known issues on ea troubleshoot site.
"Luckily" I am still on Eos, just stablished Prodromos, without any banter, and won't keep playing till it's solved, and not tinker with workarounds or rituals anymore. I still want to fully enjoy this game...

Problem with Party-Banter in my game is that it keeps getting cut off. Another thingy is that the Party sees things that I don't. 'Oh my God, look at that colonist's body over there!'. And I'm all like: I'm driving around at max speed through the desert, I have no idea what you're talking about. This isn't really negative because it allows me to search for the things they've already spotted, but still it sometimes feels a little strange.

There's also this:
@tibermoon 9h Hey Ian, I know you guys know about it, but can we get an estimate as to when we'll get a fix for banter?
Ian s. Frazier @_choosewisely_ We have a fix for banter issues (hopefully including yours) in next patch. Can't say when it's coming, though.

I wanna be a believer It would have helped if he said "it is already fixed in our experimental patch we are about to deploy" or something like that. I am so afraid they don't totally fix this problem as with Dragon Age Inquisition, that the "it's already fixed" is too vague for me. I assume it means it will be fixed in next patch but pf who knows...

PeeBee really likes to harass Cora (genuine fun). Jaal is super curious about Drack. Drack is really chill with everyone most of the time. Vetra is like a child at an amusement park. Rest either complain about sand or heat, or cold.... ugh humans.

Probably my one and only complaint about the banter is Liam. WTF? He used to be a Cop and is now Crisis Response ... yet he whines like he is a civilian spoiled brat. I tried taking him with me on some missions and immediately sent him back to the ship. I dealt with him for his loyalty quest, but aside from that he's grounded to his couch on the Tempest.
All other crew members ... love their stuff.
