I don't think the series or Bioware will get killed off, but I expect that MEA2 will be very different. Maybe they'll abandon open-world completely since it hasn't worked out well for them. I hope not. They just need a better mix of open world and corridor levels. A little less of one, a little more of the other to keep both from getting monotonous. Mass Effect Andromeda is the worst rated Bioware game by professional and user critical consensus. Across all three platforms it averages a 74 metascore, likewise its userscore is lower than DA2. Bioware seems finished. The "biggest" game they've ever made is a critical flop surpassing sonic. Moreover, it's been two weeks since launch and EA hasn't said a word of it being a success like they regularly do with games like Battlefield or other EA titles - I predict this game is also a commercial flop. I wonder if Bioware is going to be dissolved, if they do I won't be losing sleep tbqh. I have Zero faith in Metacritics scores, especially user scores. I judge for myself and with info I get from a few youtubers that I watch, and twitch streams that I watch when looking for info on new games. With that said 74 isn't a bad score thats well above average I don't see a problem here. Well your opinion doesn't matter since this thread isn't about opinions on whether a game is good or not. Still if BioWare can survive Sonic up there and DA 2 and ME 3s ending they should be able to survive this well enough. Granted when it comes to the game industry nothing will surprise me but honestly I see a lot of life in the ole girl all across the board. And its a shame this game is getting trashed though because they have made leaps and bounds in improvement in their 'open world design'...which I hate calling this came open world. I die a little inside. Nevertheless since that is the commonly accepted, though inaccurate nomenclature, open world I suppose it is.

Literally a main point of the reviews of MEA is the bugs which all other Bioware games lacked when they were reviewed. That's what happened with New Vegas. If MEA was stable and optimized it would probably gotten the same score as DAI which is an equally inferior game despite the reviews. |

Which brings me to the realization that DA4 should be dropping anytime soon since it's nearly been 3 years and they've worked with frostbite for a longtime. One can only surmise that nu-Bioware is incompetent at game development. Say what you will about DA2 but they built that game in 18 months with a new dialogue system that they continue using. |

An often overlooked fact is that bad press is bad press. It affects perception and that inevitably affects sales. Whether in the short term or the long term. Typically, unless its overwhelming negative, only the long term matters and by that time the damage and quality of the franchise suffers.
Both general press critics and I say "average" gaming consensus is that MEA disappoints and for a popular IP that is NEVER a good thing. Downhill from here unless they seriously bite the bullet and actually invest in good writing and talented people over what they used for this iteration.
