I don't understand this.
So, if Microsoft stop releasing consoles after Scorpio releases, how exactly do they upgrade to be able to play bigger and better games a decade later?
If they go down a sort of mobile phone way of doing things, how exactly do they expect users to fork out £300 every couple of years for what is essentially the same product?
I don't know, but I do not like the sound of this. Hopefully, Microsoft will change their mind when they see what Sony does i.e., when Sony released the "This is how you share games on PS4" video. That was in response to Microsoft saying that you could not share games with your friends.

At the same time, Microsoft is trying to cuddle up to PC gamers, albeit a bit awkwardly.
Wonder where this is going.

I don't believe Microsoft and think they are full of it. Everything they say is contradictory and is aimed to squeeze bank accounts for every last dollar (yeah, they're a business, I know, but they don't have to be assholes about it). Take E3 for example, they said that the Scorpio wouldn't have exclusive games and then they said during an interview that whether or not it has exclusive games will be up to the developers, but they (Microsoft) doesn't plan on it. So they announced something and then turned around and contradicted themselves right on the same day (I believe Phil Spencer himself made both statements, but cannot recall). Regardless, it's whatever to me as I am butthurt about having bought an Xbox One and it only have a 3-4 year life cycle and shall not be playing Microsoft's console game going forward (pun sort of intended). Yeah, some console generations were short, but it didn't take 3+ years to make games for them back then either; my Xbox One library is so small because they've hardly released anything, but remasters. I'm really grateful that I bought a top of the line PC back in April, now I can just skip out on this nonsense and upgrade my PC as needed instead of my console (I'll have access to a wider selection of games and I can do more things with it than I could with a console, plus I'm not bound to what Microsoft likes for me to do and access). I'm interested in seeing if a top of the line PC with some upgrades will be cheaper than the new console that you'll have to buy upgrades for as well, in the long run. Although, another part of me feels like instead of them carrying that one console, console generations will last 2 to 3 years going forward. That sounds insane, but people eat up Apple's new phone models that they release every year or so and will shell out $600 plus for them. The people in charge of our console experience have been watching the phone market for years. It started with microtransactions and now it's probably going to move on to biannual-triannual consoles Edit: Now they are saying that Virtual Reality games will be an exclusive to Scorpio, yo-yoing on their stance for at least the third time: www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox-scorpio-wont-have-exclusive-games-except-for-/1100-6442754/
