I thought the below answer was interesting considering the debates about how critical Anthem is to BioWare's success:
Would you say the success of Anthem is crucial to the success of BioWare, going forward? Is it vital to the success?
Mike Gamble: No, I wouldn't say it was vital. Any game is important to the future of any studio - name any of our contemporaries, if they're working on a game and it doesn't do well, it sucks for them. However, there's no - 'if it doesn't do well, it's the end of BioWare!' - that is hyperbole. That does not help us, back at the studio. That makes us go - [loud sigh]. All we want to focus on is making a great game, putting it out, and seeing what people think of it. So no, I wouldn't say it was vital - BioWare has many teams, many projects, as well as Anthem.

I may have missed the discussion a bit, but when Casey said they had people “figuring out” the next Dragon Age was I the only one who just interpreted that as Casey being vague rather than a statement about the state of development?

No, I saw that as clear PR speak since they haven't officially announced the next Dragon Age despite everyone knowing they are working on one. He just can't legally say anything concrete so goes with the vague statements like figuring it out. |

Same as you all. I think some are making way too big a deal out of the phrasing. They want people to focus on Anthem, so he threw out a generalized statement regarding the next DA and was basically like, "Now, about Anthem..."

Speculation like this doesn't surprise me in the least considering it's been so many years since DAI and next to no information about next game since 2015 They're TES:VI ing us. We won't hear about DA4 until they've released DA:I for smart fridges, Alexa and Etch-a-sketch. With the difference that TES V didn't end in a cliffhanger. Besides, I'd happily play DAI on my Nintendo Switch. |
